Adding playlists to iphone

How can you choose which playlists to add to your iPhone in the new iTunes? I have iTunes Match turned on, but it hasn't downloaded all of my playlists.

So I am still having the same problem. A friend suggested the same steps I mentioned before a) click on 'iphone' button/ tab in intunes then b) click on 'this iphone' button. Step c) click on the 'add to' button'. However the 'add to' button is missing when i get to this stage. Is anyone haviing/ had the same problem? If so how did you resolve it?If anyone out there can offer a solution or advice it would be much appreciated.

How do I add a playlist to my iphone 3G from itunes 11. I have got the sidebar to show but cannot drag and drop. I have also tried the alternative, which is to click on the iphone button and then on this iphone button but the add to button is missing. Adding playlists to iphone on new itunes

can't drag and drop my playlists I have already made to my iphone, or find out how to add them. i don't want to have to go through my library and drag and drop each song again.

What ITunes has done is switched sides for the drag and drop process.......
The old way was to highlight a song and then drag it over to the left hand side of the screen and drop it into your device...... Well the rules still apply.
Locate the song that you want to add to your device
(remember that all of the songs are now listed to the left of the screen)
Highlight the song
(by clicking on it one time)
Drag the song over to the right hand side of the screen
(notice how your connected device has reveled itself?)
Now release the song on top of the device that you want it to be copied into

Locate the song
Highlight the song
Click on the arrow directly behind the name of the song
Scroll down to.... Add To
Click on the arrow directly behind the words Add To
Then Add the song to the connected device of your choice.

Itunes not syncing "newly added playlist" on my iphone 5!

I am running IOS 7.0.4 (11B554a) on my iphone5 16Gb, modem firmware 5.02.00. i have latest iTunes (V. 11.2.2.3).
Well, as usual i add new songs to my iTunes library, which also show up in 'newly added' playlist in iTunes. So over syncing, it should also be visible in my iPhone in the 'newly added' playlist on my phone, BUT it does not appear in the playlist, HOWEVER, the song does sync and appears in the normal songs list. It is annoying... it never occurred to my previous iPhone.

Problems Syncing Playlists & Songs in iTunes with Computer & Apple Devices
I've seen variations of this question on the Apple community boards and I myself have struggled with this for months now and I believe I have a solution, at least for what seems to be one of the problems.
If you have purchased a subscription of iTunes Match, then all of your data is filtered through the glorious cloud. ALL computers and devises involved in syncing data must have iTunes Match enabled for syncing to replicate.
This solved my particular issue within 2.1 seconds.
1) On your computer open iTunes. Go to the menu item 'Store' and click on 'Turn on iTunes Match'.
2) On your iPhone open 'Settings', 'iTunes & App Store', click to turn on 'iTunes Match'.
3) For good measure, restart your computer and iPhone (probably not necessary but I did).
Hopefully that helps if not, I hear Google has some type of phone gadget..

Why wont my recently added playlist sync to my iphone?

I have the same issue with my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) on a Windows7 PC updated with the very latest iTunes. My other iPode (nano - old and new) sync just fine. Only my phone is affected.
I have one album I purchased from iTunes that won't sync via a plain playlist that I made just for that album. (The song files transferred to my phone as part of the "purchased" category. But I can't sync a playlist made on my computer containing those same songs.)
Another plain playlist I made for some spoken short story files in my library won't sync either.
There are no error message that appear while syncing; nothing stating that songs didn't transfer.
Also, if I try to make a new playlist on my phone and adding the "purchased" files to it, the album cover is wrong. The files will be available in the playlist that way, but with the incorrect artwork. (No idea what happens yet if I re-sync with this phone-make playlist.)

Recently Added playlist won't sync to iPhone?

Ever since I started using iCloud/ iTunes Match, none of the songs on my recently added playlists show up on my iphone. As in the playlist title itself carries over, but when i open it on my iphone it's completely empty.
Please help! much appreciated.

I had a very similar issue (same playlist). After several frustrating hours of various combinations I was able to sync by changing the options to "manuall sync.." and then "dragging and dropping" the needed playlist from the iTunes Playlist list to the iPhone button (on my itunes setup/view that was from the far left column list of all of my playlist in iTunes to the far upper right "iPhone" button). To sum up "checking" the playlist and syncing didnt work, "drag and droping" the playlist did... at least for now... then I unselected the "manually manage" in the options and re-synced and all playlist were synced correctly. I had this problem with some podcasts immediately after updating to iOS 5. In order to resolve the issue, I did this:
1- Deleted/unsubscribed from all my podcasts.
2- Synced to my iPhone.
3- Resubscrubed to all my podcasts.
4- Downloaded all podcast episodes I wanted. (You could instead restore from a backup if some episodes are no longer available for download.)
5- Synced to my iPhone.

Last added playlist sync opposite way to iPhone

Dear Apple Community!
Actually I have an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) and a correct created intelligent "Last Added Playlist". Unfortunately iTunes (10.5.3) is syncing this playlist the opposite way to the iPhone. To my iPod (3rd Generation) it's syncing correctly. Is this a bug of iOS 5.0.1 or do I have made a wrong set up? If I set it up in a wrong way, how could it be that it is synced correctly to the iPod?

put 70 songs on itunes fully synced everything onto iphone but playlist wont go over songs have gone onto the iphone but play list hasnt
how can i get playlist on iphone with out having to add 1 by 1 on iphone.?? i want to keep my entire library dont just want to have that 1 playlist just want to add playlist???

Still nothing, huh? Seems that iTunes has failed me. Tried many of the options listed in this group, from the iFunbox to restoring the phone, nothing has helped. I will be calling Apple tomorrow to try and get this sorted out. Thinking that my iTunes store purchases reverting back to my 2008 purchases has something to do with it. All of my purchases from 2008 and up are gone from my purchase history. Anything prior is now there as a recent purchase. This is frustrating beyond belief.

Getting a playlist onto iPhone

I have recorded some band rehearsals on my iPhone, synced them with iTunes via my desktop Mac, then added them to a particular playlist in iTunes. Now, when I sync my iPhone with my desktop, those particular tracks don't appear in the playlist on my phone. (Only in the voice memos list, but I don't want them there.) Other tracks in the playlist, that didn't originate from a voice memo, appear fine. How can I get the whole playlist to be added to my iPhone?

If you recorded something via your phone's voice memo app, it will sync to your computer as a regular song, because of the fact that is is classified as an m4a. On your computer, you will be able to move it around from playlist to playlist. However, your phone knows that it is in fact a voice note, and not an actual music track, so you won't be able to put it in a playlist on your phone.

"recently added" playlist does not sync correctly

In iTunes i have the smart playlist "recently added". It is sorted by the "last added" field.
The playlist is setup as:
added within last 2 month, mediatype is music, only marked objects, automatic updates.
The playlist shows the correct titles in iTunes.
When the playlist is synced, the "recently added" list, has a random order.
I also found out - by chance - that i added an other playlist with lots of titles recently. They are organized in an own playlist and do not show up in the recently added list in iTunes.
But after the sync the recently added playlist shows the newly copied titles.
It seems like if the iphone does calculate it's own list and the "recently added" playlist is missinterpreted on the iphone as "titles which where recently copied to the iphone". The "date field" is not used for the playlist, only the date the files was copied.
(Hope i described the problem as good as i can and you understand what i mean)
Any suggestions?

Messed up Recently Added playlist syncing!

Since I updated my iPhone 3G to 3.1 and iTunes to 9.0 I've noticed that my Recently Added playlist has not been syncing properly. It hasn't been updated on the iPhone since before I updated the software (iTunes + iPhone) even though I've since added more stuff to my library. The weird thing though is that the content that I've added recently does sync to my iPhone because I can find it if I search the phone but it just doesn't appear in the recently added playlist. The old stuff that does appear in my Recently Added playlist is now also in a mixed up order(not the way it appeared in iTunes).
Another thing I've noticed is that some (although not all) podcasts are also in a mixed up order on the iPhone; not ordered by episode number or date! Scrolling through my podcasts has also become slow and "sticky" if you well; not as smooth as it usually is, same for videos(scrolling through my songs or playlists however, is normal).
Have I missed something in the new syncing features in iTunes 9.0 or what's going on here? If I can't fix the problem would creating a new smart playlist with the same settings as the Recently Added playlist fix the problem..haven't tried that yet.

I have the exact same issue. Only, the order is correct, in reverse.
I get the 50 First added songs, instead of the 50 Last added songs... I wonder what went wrong and if Apple will resolve this matter. Did you try to call for support?

Recently Added playlist issue

Every time I try to sync my Recently Added playlist to my iPhone 5, all iOS does is sync the recently added tracks that have been played...
This is pretty stupid as when it comes to buying new music, they do not sync across despite the fact they are in the playlist on my iOS.
Any solutions?

Yes, this is how it should work.
The Recently added Playlist is a Smart Playlist. You don't have to add anything to it. It will select songs based on the criteria in the Smart Playlist.

No, this is not how it works.
A Playlist is simply a list of songs.
Any song can be in any/all playlists. It is still only in the library and on your computer one time(unless you import it again from the CD).
Think of it this way;
- You have a stack of CDs in your cabinet
(this is the same as the actual song files on the computer).
- You have a written list of all your CDs
(this is the same as the iTunes library).
You have another written list of recently added songs or Favorites
(this is the same as iTunes playlists).
Just because it is on your recently added list or your favorite list does not mean you have two copies of it in your CD cabinet.

I fixed my recently added playlist syncing problem

Ever since the iOS 7 upgrade on my iPhone 5, my recently added playlist would not sync properly. It would be accurate in iTunes (latest version) but not on my iPhone. After trying some of the suggestions I found on this forum without luck, I started messing around with it myself. The way I got it to work was to first power down everything. After a reboot, I launched the music app on my phone. I selected the artist catagory and played a song completely until the album was completed (you could fast forward the song till the end). I left the app on the artist page and closed it in the background (double tap home button, swiped app). I then launched iTunes and connected the phone with a USB cable. After syncing, I went into my recently added playlist on the phone and it was up to date!
It seems that in my case if I left the app in the playlists screen, it wouldn't sync. The app remembers the last screen you had open since the last close, so it automatically reopens in that screen. I hope this helps anyone having the same problem. Good luck!

It's just a Smart Playlist, so make a new Smart Playlist called "Recently Added". Set the rule to "Date Added is in the last two weeks" and make sure both "Match the following rule" and "Live updating" are checked. That's the same as the default "Recently Added" playlist...
