Adding Preloader in Captivate 5.5

Upon adding a preloader and setting a percent, such as 50%, I first get the preloader as desired, but then I still get the black "Loading" message also. Can someone explain the black square "Loading" message? Is that an indication that preloading is occurring also?

Hello There,
Are you viewing it in LMS? if so, you may not be able to remove the loading message but customize it via Preferences > Quiz > Reporting > LMS initialization text.
Thanks,

  • Preloader in Captivate won't show up in Firefox (It does in IE7)

    Hello
I got a problem using the preloader in Captivate.
I exported the file with a preloader (one of the Captivate preloader not one of my own). The preloader is set to 40% (but same happens using 20% and 100%)
If i have a look at the file in Internet Explorer the preloader shows shortly, then the eLearning starts. Fine.
In Mozilla Firefox (Version 3.5.1) the Preloader won't show up, problem is: In Firefox the eLearning needs a bit more time to load, so here it would be necessary to show the preloader. I just see the empty screen and then after some seconds the eeLearning starts.
I haven't found any information about this. Flashplugin is the same in both browser. (Latest 10.0.22.87)
OPERA behaves exactly like Mozilla FIrefox, no preloader is shown, longer loading times
Has anybody a solution for this?
Where is Captivate storing the Information about the preloader (Percentage, File of preloader) I can't find anything in the html file.
    best regards
    captiware

    Hi Captiware,
I have similar problems. However, to confuse matters, it is just the other way round: My preloader works in Firefox 3 but not in IE 6!
This problem appeared only after upgrade to Captivate 4. Unfortunately not solution/explanation yet.
    Best regards

  • Adding preloader

can anybody help me adding preloader. i want my swf in a
    webpage.when its being loaded i want to show a preloader.but i dont
have any idea how to do that.some where i found the following code
but it dont works. all it shows is a blank screen until the swf
    loads.
the code is in the third frame. the forth frame calls an AS
file that designs my SWF. the first frame has the GIF for preloader
and second frame is blank. the code in second frame is: its an AS2
code and i wnt it in AS2 itself. i dont know if this the right
place to ask.but still expecting a reply. thanks in advance.

"Loading Status" option is available with each embedded connection. Where Loading message would be the alert message for display, (or to be used for dynamic visibility ). this message will get populated at the cell targeted by the "Insert In" , while the connection is active (or in other words while data is being fetched from the back end server). "Idle Message " as the name implies this message gets populated in the same cell while particular connection is Idle.
We can use the message to show the same with the help of label or use it to display some other form of alerts.

  • Problem adding Video to Captivate Slide

    Hi,
I'm having a problem adding an FLV video file to Captivate. Basically, after I've published to a SWF file, the video doesn't appear on the slide at all. It's just blank.
After researching a bit, I found that the FLV file MUST include *metadata*.
However, I added medatada with VLC Media Player, and it still shows the same behavior. Must it include a certain *amount* of metadata? Is there a *type* of metadata without which the video will not show?
Adobe's Help thread talks about something called the "Flash Video Kit" - is that a stand alone product or an extension of another product? Is it free? Are there any other free alternatives?
    I'm just very confused.
    Thank you!

I ended up answering my own question. But just in case this helps anyone else, I'm going to post my solution.
Essentially, I just re-created the video in MP4 format. Then I used MetaZ (for Mac) to write Meta Data to the video. Lastly, I imported the video as an object and when I published the video, Captivate transmuted it to the necessary FLV format.
    Now the video displays properly.

  • Why isn't the preloader in Captivate 6 working?

I just find that file has to load 100% before anything plays irrespective of the preloader setting!

Adobe has acknowledged that there is an issue with preloaders in Cp6:

The best solution appears to be to upgrade to Cp7.

  • How do I add a preloader in Captivate 5

    Hi
I have published a project as a swf file and my colleague has setup a link to the fine in Zendesk. When you click to play the movie there is a fairly long delay till the swf loads. How do I add a preloading icon that shows something is loading and how can I start the movie before the whole project is loaded.
    Thanks

    Hi there
Look in Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End.

  • Can A YouTube Video Link/Code Be Added In A Captivate Project?

    Hello,
Can I add a video embed code or link to a Captivate project (rather than the actual video file itself) when making an swf project? How do I do it?
    Thanks,
    Paul.

    Hi Paul
I think we need a wee bit more information here.
If you are using Captivate 4, I believe there is a widget that may be used to embed a YouTube video in a Captivate project. That appears to be the first thing you asked.
But the way you phrased the question, you could have also been asking about a way to create a link to a Captivate Project file (the CP file).
Can you describe exactly what it is you want to see in the end result? Just be basic. I want to click a button, see a slide that does this. And describe what this is.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Adding video to captivate projects

I understand how to add a video to a slide project in Captivate when the video is either over the slide or part of it.  What I want to do is add video next to the slide the same way Adobe did in their marketing presentation for Captivate 5 which used to be on their Captivate page in adobe.com.  This video has now been replaced by the ad for Captivate 5.5 so you can't see the one I am referring to here.  There was a man standing next to the slide talking about it and demonstrating something that Captivate could do.  I cannot find any tutorials or instructions to assist me in figuring this out.  Can anyone assist?

    Hello,
Pooja pointed to a blog where insertion of slide video on different slides or in the TOC is explained. But I'm not totally sure that this is what you are looking for. So, please do correct me if I do not give the right interpretation to your question.
I think you want on the same slide capturing of a software app and a video. Is this a greenscreen video or a normal video? In Allen's example in the blog post it is a greenscreen video, the pixels behind the speaker are transparant, so it is possible to put him on top of slides if that is acceptable for you.
But putting a slide video next to captured screens, will need some rescaling. Before I try to explain, waiting for your answers, I could point to a blog post that I created a while ago about rescaling to create a Knockout Master slide. The real estate you created in this way can be used to insert your slide video and eventually other objects next to the captured slide. This post will show better what I mean by rescaling:

  • Adding an Adobe Captivate 4 file with external links to Moodle

Hi - Does anyone know how to upload an adobe captivate 4 file so external links within the published adobe cp file open when playing in moodle?   I have attached a wmv video that does not open.  Also I have attached a swf Raptivity file that does not open.
    Thanks, Sandra

The wvx file is only really a small text file containing something like this code:
    <ASX VERSION="3.0">
    <ENTRY>
      <REF HREF="myvideo.wmv" />
    </ENTRY>
    </ASX>
It seems to just make Windows Media Player happier when loading  wmv file for some reason.  I had to resort to using this file at one client site running an IIS web server. You point your link in Captivate at the wvx file, which then loads the video.  The wvx file can have quite a lot of other code inside it to do fancy stuff.  But that's not essential.
If your question is now answered, please mark it at the top.

  • Adding text to Captivate 5 slide.

I want to replace the slide from PowerPoint to a new slide that has a text equivalent. Is it possible to do that and if so, how do you do it?
    thx

You did not get an answer, I think your question is not clear enough at all.
Do you want to create a new slide in PPT and re-import? Or do you want to create a slide from scratch in Captivate to replace the PPT-slide?

  • Captivate 7 preloader not working - with screen captures for clarity

    Hi Community,
so I'm working in the Captivate 7 trial version, because the preloader for Captivate 6 isn't working for me. We have a ~48MB project with mp3's on almost every slide, flash videos, flash animations, quizzes and plenty of jpegs.
Before we publish the project we make sure we click everything that's needed, but because it's still not working I took screen shots of all the settings. Maybe I'm missing something, I would appreciate your help.
    Thank you guys so much!!
    Nat

I'm assuming here that your preloader animation is at least appearing when you are loading the file so that you KNOW it IS working.
Try setting your preloader progressively higher until you find the percentage at which the load times start INCREASING again.  If you have a lot of videos in your project, setting the preloader at a very low value like 10% doesn't necessarily affect the load times that much because Captivate still has to load a certain amount of the total number of assets before it can start to play anyway.  It could be that you have a whopping great event video right near the start of the project and that's what is causing the lengthy delay.
If your issue is still with the preloaders NOT appearing at all, then the only settings that would affect this are the ones on the Preferences > Project  > Start and End > Preloader path and percentage.  The path looks to be fine, but if preloader animations are not visible at all, try changing to a different preloader.  Maybe only SOME of them work.  The Default.swf preloader is usually reliable.

  • Captivate 6 preloader not working

I have the preloader in Captivate 6 set to 10%.  The original Adobe loading screen appears for 10%, but then a "Loading" screen just appears until the entire project is loaded.  It takes the same amount of time as when the preloader is set to 100%.  The only difference is which "load" screen I'm looking at.  Is there a fix?

My associate and I are having the same issues any help would be appreciated. We are using Cap 6.0.1.240 64bit Windows 7 machines.  In our project we have mp3 audio files. We also 3 flv files streaming from our Flash server.  We also have question slides but are not utilizing a question pool.  We also have a certificate widget at the end of the project.  We are linking to our content server through Moodle 2.4.  Or swf file is approx 38megs.  We were experiencing significant load times on several different networks with large bandwidth.   We have tried the following:
    - preloader AS3 at 10%
    - reduced the file size significantly (from 138M to 38M)
    - set slides to JPEG
    - made all audio files MP3s
    - off set the audio on slides to begin at .1
    - removed the quiz slides from the project
    - removed the video links from the project
And still our load times hover around 18 to 25 seconds with each test and the preloader does not work.  Do you have any suggestions that will help?  Is this addressed in ver 7?
    Thank you,
    VJ

  • Export problem with Captivate 5

I have a 91 slide powerpoint 2007. The powerpoint file is in 16:9 format (10" x 5.63"). I have 13 .f4v videos that I need to incorporate into the presentation after I import the file into Captivate. The powerpoint slides also have audio which I have to add in Captivate as Captivate imports the audio icon that powerpoint puts on slides. So I have to insert mp3 files into each slide. I then want to publish as a single f4v file to be used either on the web or transcoded to DVD for distribution. I've experienced nothing but trouble. After reading the FAQs, I moved the file to my C drive and broke it into 3 sequential files. This did not resolve the problems. When exported the program often freezes part way thru the publishing process. If I break the program into smaller pieces, the publish process doesn't freeze, but the video and audio don't sync properly. The audio for one slide will be playing while the video skips forward to other slides. I figured that I could just leave out the inserted .f4v movies and insert them into the project using premiere pro to finish production. Even when I have a shortened version of the presentation with no added f4v files, Captivate still publishes a f4v file where the audio and video don't sync. As a last measure I thought I would create a version in powerpoint where I have specified the length of each slide to accommodate for the audio that has to be added and that I would pull that into Captivate. I could then publish the file in it's most stripped down form from Captivate and add the audio and the additional video in premiere pro. It turns out that when I specify a slide for 29 seconds in powerpoint, the slide correctly shows for 29 seconds in Captivate but then exports a f4v file that displays the slide for 29 FRAMES. Help! Is there any way to produce the project I've described using Captivate?  Doug Jackson

If youv'e been moving files around or sharing them between computers then the pathway to the Preloaders directory in the Adobe Captivate install file might not be correct.
Go to Preferences and look at the current path shown there for Preloader.  Browse to the correct location according to whatever version of Captivate you are using to edit the file with.  If Captivate 5 or 5.5 your only choice will be to use AS3 preloaders. Don't navigate to an AS2 preloader in the Captivate 4 install directory.

  • Captivate 8 does not detect Character files in eLearning Assets and will not insert them via the Media Image route.

The eLearning Assets directory was installed in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Characters_8_0.
When I attempt to insert a Character, Captivate 8 (on Windows 7) loads the gallery where they would normally be displayed but this is empty of thumbnails. It does however recognise that their are categories of Business, Casual etc.
Additionally, if I attempt to add any of the Character image files via Media>Image on the toolbar, Captivate 8 reports that the image is either corrupt or not of a supported format. Nevertheless, those very same image files will open in other applications without any problem.
I have tried a reinstall of the Adobe eLearning Assets but this has made no difference.
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Malcolm

    Hi,
I've since discovered that batch processing the images with IrfanView (which is unusual in being able to actually open them) and resizing them (though I dont think this aspect id actually necessary) the images can be worked with in other Windows programs, can be added to a Captivate progect via the Media>Image route but still do not show up in the Gallery of Characters via Media>Characters.
This at least allows us to make use of the Character assets but is extremely time consuming as we need to resort to Windows' own thumbnail capabilities (Large Icons in Windows Explorer) to help make a 'quick' selection
My researches have uncovered a multitude of Adobe/png issues - with Photoshop etc. It would apperar that there are problems associated with both the quality (24 bit) and transparency (being lost or inaccurately interpreted.)
I don't think the images are 'corrupt' as such (they appear to be just 'Adobe'd') as I have installed and reinstalled the eLearning Assets package - both one that was downloaded several weeks ago and one that was downloaded just days ago.
If I encounter (or am provided with a complete solution I will post it here.
    Good luck in the meantime.

  • Insert a captivate 7 HTML 5 output in Robohelp 10

I am trying to insert a captivate 7 HTML 5 output in Robohelp 10. I tried the steps specified by adding an adobe captivate demo. I linked it to both the swf file and the index.html file. However I am getting an error, that the index.htm file is not valid. Can you please let me know the solution to this.

    Hi, MeeraPRV
I recreated this error message and think I have the answer. When you used the Browse button to locate the HTML5 output file, I suspect you selected the wrong "index.htm" file.
Instead, you should navigate to the Captivate HTML5 Output folder and select the index.html file in the same folder as the .swf Flash file.
At this point, RoboHelp will create a new "zipped" file of all the Captivate output variations with the extension ".cpz" and place it in the "Baggage Files" folder. You don't have to do anything with that .cpz file. It will be automatically managed for you in the Multiscreen HTML5 SSL generation process.
Also be sure to "tick" the "Use Adobe Captivate HTML5 output" Setting shown below.
Lastly, be sure you apply the latest service update for RoboHelp 10.01 for good measure if you haven't already :-)
