Adding Radio Station

I would like to figure out how to get our college radio station added to list of public streams in Itunes.
Thanks Much.

The instructions below are targeted at adding somaFM stations to the Internet Radio application. The general instructions are applicable to any station you want to add. What will be different is the URL you add to the web address entry field.
To Add A Station to the N900 Internet Radio
Tap Media Button
Tap Internet Radio
Tap Internet radio stations
Tap Add radio bookmark
Tap web address entry field
Enter http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8850
Tap down caret with line under it to finalise entry (upper right corner)
Tap Name entry field
Call it whatever you want
Tap down caret with line under it to finalise entry (upper right corner)
Tap Save buton
At this point the N900 will bring you back to the list of entered radio bookmarks. An information bar will appear across the screen informing you the bookmark has been taken care of.
Scroll through list of bookmarks until you find the one you just created, based upon what you called it.
Tap the bookmark - enjoy!
Substitute any of the URLs below for http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8850 in the routine above to add additional stations.
In no particular order:
http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8300 Doomed
http://205.188.215.227:8014 Space Station
http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8850 Suburbs of Goa
http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8900 Digitalis
http://temp.somafm.com:8090 Indie Pop Rocks
http://207.200.96.230:8014 Boot Liquor
http://streamer-ntc-aa03.somafm.com:80/stream/1018 Groove Salad
http://streamer-ntc-aa04.somafm.com:80/stream/1073 Lush
http://streamer-dtc-aa01.somafm.com:80/stream/1032 Drone Zone
In general, get the somaFM station you want on your N900 to play in Windows Media Player. Go to File|Properties and the Location listed in Properties will be the URL to enter in the routine above. This will yield the URLs for the stations I haven't listed.

  • Adding radio stations to Apple tv

I would like to listen to RTE radio through my apple tv. It doesn't appear in the list, can you advise how I would add it?
    Thanks
    karl

That depends on which Apple TV you have, adding radio stations to playlists is recognised by the Apple TV 1 but doesn't seem to be by the Apple TV 2. There is no way to add radio stations to those already listed under the radio heading in the internet list.

  • Problem adding radio stations

I'm trying to add a local Boston station, 98.5 The Sports Hub (WBZ radio, a division of CBS radio). But I've tried to copy and paste the stream url and after doing so, I do not see or have any access to the station, it does not show up on my list of stations. Has anyone else successfully added this station? Perhaps I do not have the correct url or I might be doing it incorrectly. Anyone know how this can be accomplished? Thanks.

What URL are you using? When I go to the home page and click on the listen button, it brings up a player.

  • Adding radio stations to iTunes

Is there a way to add local radio stations available on the internet to my iTunes library? (for iTunes 7) Thanks!

Two ways listed in iTunes for Mac thread should work for Windows as well, but iTunes preferences/options may be located differently in Windows menus...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1806353&tstart=15
    1) Click Advanced > Open Stream and paste the URL of your favorite radio station in the box. When it is open and playing, drag that onto the list.
    2) Click Preferences > Advanced > Set "Use iTunes for Internet Music Playback"
Note that your station must be streaming mp3 or it won't work. There are a lot of streaming formats out there, but iTunes only supports a few of them.

  • Adding radio station not found in radio list

    Hello,
I once had a radion station on a playlist that I could select and play easily. (Radio 84 KKNX)
I just upgraded the PC and now I can not find the station or figure out how to add it.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Raleigh,
Yes, I have thought of that, and perhaps that's how I did it before.
You may or may not want to look into this with me, but the streaming station I am trying to get onto iTunes is played through Live 365, you can get to it through this link http://www.radio84.com
In other words, I'm not sure I can get the URL to use...
    Sincerely,
    Johnathon

  • How do I remove an unwanted toolbar?  I added a radio station to my ibook and it set up its own toolbar so when I go to Safari I have to use it.  It involves using Bing for everything as well.  It's very annoying and I want to remove it.

How do I remove an unwanted toolbar?  I added a radio station to my ibook and it set up its own toolbar so when I go to Safari I have to use it.  It involves using Bing for everything as well.  It's very annoying and I want to remove it.  I can't just type in a URL and have it go to the site.  It takes me to all of Bing's choices.  Also, when it anticipates what I'm typing (incorrectly) and I have to delete it's guesses all the time.  Can anyone help?

Have you looked at Safari's menu bar > view> toolbars to see if it can be unchecked from there, also see if there is a button to collapse the toolbar on the bar itself.

  • Adding Fav Radio Station to iTunes

I understand that only Apple can add a radio station to their "radio" section...why?
I also understand that it is possible to add our fav radio station to our playlist.
Having some trouble adding our college radio station to iTunes.
The URL I use for Windows Media Player is:
    http://www.streamaudio.com/stations/asx/wqun_am.asx
Anyway I can listen to this via iTunes.

I just was trying to add a radio station according to the terse instructions on http://www.kdvs.org/listen/
The iTunes online help declares, "You can't record or save a song from a radio broadcast, but you can add your favorite stations to your library or to a playlist so that you can tune in easily."
Finally found a way that worked. Once playing in iTunesI tried to drag and drop the icon into Radio. Logical, no? Would't work. The link stays in the Music Library and will not be moved. How in the heck is a continuous radio stream considered a music entity??? Dumb.

  • Adding a Radio Station to an Apple TV

Can anyone tell me how to add a new (Australian) radio station to the list please.
    Regards
    Peter

If you can play the radio stream in iTunes via the Advanced/Open Audio Stream menu you will find it's entry added in the Music section of iTunes. Add it to a playlist in iTunes, sync the ATV and this playlist will appear in the Radio menu on the ATV.

  • Apple TV Gen 2: Adding extra radio stations

I had a look around but most info seems to relate to ATV G1 and syncing it from iTunes.
I have an ATV Gen 2 running FW V4.1.1 and a number of internet radio stations I listen to regularly on my Mac using iTunes are not listed in the directory of radio stations. I had added these manually to iTunes.
If I make a Playlist in iTunes of all my radio stations, I can browse to the Playlist on the ATV (Providing the Mac it is hosted on is powered up) and I can select the play list but ATV says the play list is empty and I should go to the iTunes store to buy some music...
So... anyone know how to add radio stations to the ATV Gen 2...?
    Thanks
    Andy

The easy way to have the benefit of Apple TV and the best in radio?
Add the free iPhone TuneIn radio app which has all the stations you would ever want - far more than the Apple radio facility and it's quicker to tune in to the stations.
Also add the free iPhone Apple remote.
Tune them BOTH to Apple TV. You can use them both together at the same time with no problem, to control Apple TV from the comfort of your armchair. So you can listen to the radio station you want and watch a display of photos from your library, for example.
It is also possible to blank the screen if you just want to listen to the radio. All using your iPhone!

  • Adding my radio station to itunes

I work at a local radio station. We stream our station over the web and we would like to see it added to the iTunes radio station list. How do I do that or who can I contact at apple?

I wouldn't do that. Like I said, I don;t know if it was them or even if it is them. My memory on the last time it was discussed is very vague. All I can say for sure is that Apple dies not run it.

  • Does ITunes have adding one radio station to favorite list?

    same as topic

I tried the following from the article you recommeded:
Step 6: You needn’t rely on outfits like Shoutcast and Live365 for your iTunes streams. Some terrestrial and Internet radio stations offer .pls links from their homepages. You can also add stations if you have their streaming address—an address in the form of http://69.28.128.148:80/stream/radioioclassical_freehi.
With such an address in hand, choose Advanced > Open stream and add the address to the URL field.
Step 7: Once your stations are in the iTunes library you may wish to create new playlists that contain them—organized by all the stations you possess (create a Smart Playlist and use Kind Contains Audio Stream to grab them all) or by genre.
I tried pasting the following address:
    http://old-kdfc.bonnint.net/2006/broadband.ram
into the Open Stream field but nothing seems to have happened. It didn't show up in the library.
    iTunes doesn't make this easy.

  • Can I add radio stations to iTunes?

Thanks Ryan, but how in the name of our dear lord in heaven do I add a radio station to a smart playlist.
All I have is the URL:
    http://www.garnierstreamingmedia.com/asx/radio538.asp
    So no drag+drop.

Baltimore, Maryland Yes, you can add radio stations to iTunes. However, you cannot add the radio stations to the “Radio” source in the source list. You only have the ability to add radio stations into the “Library” source.
You can always make a Smart Playlist, though, and name it something such as “My Radio Stations” or a name of your choice. What this will do is organize all of your personal radio stations that are not listed in the "Radio" source and create easy access and some organization to your downloaded internet radio stations in iTunes. To find internet radio stations, here are a few links:
    • DDance.FM Digital Dance Radio
    • Macstreams/Rogue Amoeba
    • Live365.com
    • UK Radio Stations
    • Shoutcast
    • Radio-Locator (not the best for locating online radio feeds)
There are other sites, of course. When you go to these sites, you will see lists of internet radio stations. To get the station of your choice into iTunes, you will need to download either the .pls, .m3u, or .mp3 file from that station. Once the file has downloaded, find it on your computer and double-click it. This should open iTunes. Note: XM Radio Online will not work for this. If it ever does work, I will update this. Sorry! If not, drag the file into iTunes Library and it will import into your library. Now, onto organizing and creating the Smart Playlist of your internet radio stations.
To create a Smart Playlist based on the internet radio stations you have downloaded, go to File > New Smart Playlist. A window will appear asking you for information. Make sure the “Match the following condition:” box is checked. From the first drop down menu, choose “Kind.” From the second drop down menu, choose “is”. To the right of that is a blank field where you can enter in what kind of file you wish to have in this Smart Playlist. You will want to add “MPEG audio stream” (without quotes) in that field.
Lastly, check the box that says “Live Updating” which will update your Smart Playlist of radio stations when you add more stations to your library. Then whenever you want to listen to your favorite radio station, you can click on that Smart Playlist in the source list and you will see all the internet radio stations you have added to iTunes.
    Enjoy the music!
Note: There is no way of adding an internet radio station to the "Radio" source list in iTunes. Contacting Apple more than likely won't yield a response, but you can list your station on Shoutcast, Live365, RogueAmoeba (links listed above) to be seen and heard by listeners worldwide.
iTunes does not support Windows Media Player format or Real Player One format, so those streams cannot be played through iTunes and must be played through their respective applications.

I read the answer to this question and appreciated the information, but where on the web do you find the sources that were listed - namely:
    • DDance.FM Digital Dance Radio
    • Macstreams/Rogue Amoeba
    • Live365.com
    • UK Radio Stations
    • Shoutcast
    • Radio-Locator (not the best for locating online radio feeds)
I would like to add internet stations, too, but don't know how to find the stations.

  • Can't create Christmas radio station.

I've created a Christmas radio station.  I've only added Christmas songs.  I might have about 25 examples.  I guess you con't tie down the genre or it can't learn the genre because every third song is not a Christmas song.  I don't know that theres a question here as much as I'm just putting this info out to see if others have similar issues.  It's seems to be a limitation of iTunes Radio.

The Genre of ALL the files in the playlist must be "Christmas" (or "Holiday") if you want to make a station based on Genre.
This won't affect what others have put in their playlists if you select a station from iTunes radio, but if you create your own, it will.

  • New Radio Station & Streaming Problems

I have added my favorite Public Radio station to my iTunes library, but I can not get it to connect. It shows up in the library as a radio station, but nothing happens when I click on the play button.
In addition, I'm having trouble with all the radio stations I've tried that were already in the iTunes folder. I've tried changing the streaming buffer size in preferences, but the network keeps stalling and needing rebuffering, regardless of the streaming buffer size I choose.
PowerBook PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   Other computer is iMac, OS X v.10.3.9

I single file in a playlist repeats constantly for me (just tried it - don't usually have playlists for single items), but I have never tried using repeat on an audio stream. I expect the repeat doesn't work with streams because iTunes never gets an end-of-file notification which would then tell iTunes to start again at the beginning - but that is just a guess.
What happens if you open the stream in Quicktime? If the stream is in iTunes library, you can open it's Get Info box, click on Edit URL on the summary tab, and you can then copy the address to paste into Quicktime's Open URL. If the stream is one on the default iTunes Radio list, drag it into your Library and you can then click on the Edit URL button to copy the address. iTunes an Quicktime are not exactly the same, so you may get different results. You could also try VLC Player". Testing streams in another player may help you identify if it is really iTunes at fault.
I usually don't have streaming problems, although I rarely have a stream on longer than 2 or 3 hours at a time and I think about 5 hours is the longest I've had a stream running.
