Adding Search Engine in CS4?

Is there a new way to do this in CS4? I know Nancy has posted
some links
but I cannot find them. I do not want a branded google search
tho. I would
like my own brand. Thanks in advance.

It has nothing to do with Dreamweaver.

  • Adding Search Engine to Contribute?

Does anyone know if it is possible to add a search engine
within Adobe Contribute? I've set up an intranet site for the
company I work for and people are asking for me to add a search
engine within the internal site. Is this possible? If so, could
someone please take me through the steps? I'd really appreciate
    it!!

  • How do I add a search engine to the search bar from a hard disk file?

I want to add a search engine to the search bar from an XML file on my hard disk. "Manage Search Engines" from the search bar drop down list only appears to allow adding search engines from web sites.
    Thanks.

Hmmm. This didn't work. I even re-booted, and Firefox still doesn't show the search engine.
It was actually an update to an earlier engine, and I foolishly removed the old version rather than just updating it.
Is there anything elsewhere (eg. the registry) that might be preventing this?

  • Cant add or change search engines in search bar

When I try to add search engines on the search bar via the Manage Search Engines... option it takes me to:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search-tools/
which is just a list of 5 search addons that have nothing to do with adding search engines to the search bar.
My main problem is the default google that is provided:
    http://www.google.com/firefox
    I want google.com not google.com/firefox

The link to the mycroft site in the post by pelagos restricts the search engines to the UK.
The main entry to the search engine site is: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/
To qualify what you might be seeking, use this link: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html

  • How do I delete a toolbar that was added by a plugin? Plug-in's been uninstalled, but the toolbar is still there and any new tabs open on their search engine (even though I have Tab Mix set to open tabs on a duplicate page). Help?

Running Firefox on Windows XP3. I installed a plugin from Savevid.com, which they now require. (I've used that site for at least a year with no problem ever.) Everything was fine but it added a toolbar to my browser, and it seems to have reset Firefox somehow so that any new tab opens on "Searchqu", some low-rent search engine. I uninstalled the plug-in altogether, but the toolbar is still there, and I can't make the reset on the search engine go away. I use Tab Mix Plus (also never had this problem before with it), but no matter what I do, the tabs will not open to anything other than searchqu. (Tab Mix has the option to open to a duplicate tab - what it was using BEFORE all this - but changing that no longer has any effect.)
Anyone know how to deal with a problem like this?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Adding keywords and phrases for high search engine hits

I'm new to iWeb and most things seem to be working. I have one question and one problem, hopefully you guys can help out.
Question: how do I add html code that is not visible on the page but that will help Google and other search engines find my page using keywords, phrases, etc.? Please assume I know very little about this and need the holding hand explanation.
Problem: I have a media file portion on my website that displays pictures (working very well) and one that is supposed to show a movie (not working at all). The movie was made with iMovie and has an .m4v extension. When you click on the link for the movie it shows a blank screen on Firefox and a Quicktime logo with a big question mark on Safari. I'm attempting to view the website on my Mac with the latest Quicktime software on it but it doesn't work. Any ideas on how to fix it?
Some additional info: the hosting provider is 1and1.com and I have a Windows server package (unfortunately). Also, if I publish the site to a folder the movie area works flawlessly, it just does not work on the hosted site.
    Thanks!!

You don't need to do post publication manual editing of your site to add keywords and other metadata. You can use the freeiWeb SEO Tool. If you're publishing to MobileMe you can add them after publication. If you're publishing to a commercial hosting server you'll need to publish to a folder on the desktop, run SEO and then use a 3rd party ftp client like the free Cyberduck to upload your site.
If you have to republish SEO remembers what you added and can quickly add them again before uploading.

  • I added a program but somnehow ended up with "searchqu" as my search engine, how do you get rid of it?

I added a program that somehow put the search engine "searchqu" on my computer. How do you get rid of it? I looked up in the web engines and it is not listed. A blog board I read says it is coming through google chrome that it has to be uninstalled... any ideas?

Searchqu gets installed if you don't opt-out of the installation when you install a 'free' app from bandoo.com which provides free emoticons.
If you have this app on your system now, uninstall it first, otherwise searchqu will reappear again after you complete the following steps.<br><br>
To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=<br><br>
#In the filter at the top again, copy/paste the following (remove keyword.URL first): '''browser.startup.homepage'''<br><br>
#Right click it, choose '''Modify '''and then click '''Reset'''.<br><br>
    #Close the tab.<br><br>
#Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Extensions and remove these add-ons if they're in there: '''Windows iLivid Toolbar '''and '''SearchquToolbar '''.<br><br>
#Next, open Windows Explorer and navigate to '''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins'''. In there, delete the following: '''SearchquWebSearch.xml'''<br><br>
#Go to Add/Remove Programs and look for '''Windows iLivid Toolbar '''and '''SearchquToolbar '''again. Remove if found. You might possibly find a reference to "Web Search" (searchqu) in Add/Remove Programs too. If so, remove it.<br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
Next, open a Command Prompt (Run As Administrator) and type the following: '''regsvr32 /u searchqudtx.dll''' and hit Enter. If you get an error message, you'll have to enter the full path. Do a Windows search for '''WI3C8A '''and then right click it and choose Open Containing Folder, or Open File Location. Then make a note of the full path.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
    * Click the Firefox button, go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br>

  • Getting Website on Search Engines? I used Dreamweaver CS4.

I have a website that was launched recently, which was created with Dreamweaver CS4. After using some search engines, I found that on some of them, some of my pages were appearing on the first page - however, none of them are the home page. Of the pages that do appear, some of them don't even contain the keywords that I typed in to the search engine.
Here's my question: what do I need to do to get my website higher up on search engines?

    Hi,
first: the "magic word" to google is: SEO (search engine optimization). Here you will find how to try to carry out your plans:

  • Is there any way of adding a different search engine ?.

Have just downloaded Safari to give it a try.
One of the first things I tried was changing the default search engine to Yahoo UK (easy in Firefox). Bt it looks as if you can't add new search engines to the three provided.
Am I wrong (hope so) ?
    Eddie

Can't speak for the Windows version, but on the Mac you're limited to the three defaults.

  • How can I remove the search engines that got added last time I upgraded on android? I have been able to remove them in the past so why not now?

I have always chosen FireFox because it has generally offered me options to work the way I want to.
I am not even remotely interested in having a whole load of redundant search engines begging me to use them whenever I type anything into the address bar of the browser.
However, some wise guy has decided that on the android version of the browser these are now essential to the correct and stable working of FireFox and so I am stuck with them. (Unless I go back to Google Chrome, which I am reluctant to do.)
Please reinstate the ability to remove this sort of clutter/spam from my favourite browser.

Thanks for the information kbrosnan. Can you please include the bugzilla ID for reference.
    Thank you

Where & how to do this???

    Dear the-edmeister,
Can u please explain these terms below with an example of Google(what to use if the search engine would google.com)
    '''Search URL'''

After submitting plugin, what to do???

  • Hi I have 14 search engines added to my search bar but whenever I add a new one, it disappears after a day or two. what's the matter?

Is there any limit for number of search engines to add?

    '''Download the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Mozilla Search Reset]''' {web link}
This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up
and then resets your search preferences and home page
to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This
affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

  • Adding new search engine(bing)

is it possible. anything but google

    Hi lhcurlett,
You should read the [[Search bar]] Knowledge Base article. It will show you how to switch search engines, add more, and even remove Google completely if that's what you want to do.
    Hopefully this helps!
