Adding Service Monitor to CUOM
We have Cisco Unified Operations Manager 2.1.0 installed with Cisco Unified Service Monitor 2.1.0 installed on the same server.
I show this licensing info:
OM Premium 2.0 5009 Purchased
SM 2.0 5000 Purchased
Within Service Monitor I added CUOM Server as trap receiver, but when I go to CUOM Administration - Service Quality Settings all I see is the Events Settings option. I don't see a link to add the Service Monitor to the CUOM.
I inherited this installation, could an option have been missed during initial installation of CUOM?
Operations Manager installs Service Monitor as well. Since you have Operations Manager 2.0.1, the Service Monitor 2.0.1 should be already present on the box. You will need to install the license for Service Monitor to use the Service Monitor functionality.

Hi,
I want to install CUOM version 8 with Service Monitor.
I want to know if it’s necessary to have the sensor Cisco 1040 to use and configure Service Monitor or I can use Service Monitor without the sensor.
Thanks a lot,
best regards,
Omar YUNSIYes, you can use it without having sensor in your network.
In this case you will add the CUCM as a data source to monitor the calles and CDR records for generating the CVTQ reports. -

Hello,
I have a new deployment for COUM with service monitor and Cisco Unified Service Statistics Manager and I have 2 servers.
I want to somebody help me who to deploy these solution in 2 servers? I prefer to install COUM with Service Monitor in the same server and CUSSM in the other server, what do you thing?
I have other question, to upgrade COUM 2.2 to CUOM 2.3 I must to pass by cisco to purchase the new license, or I can to use the same license COUM 2.2 for COUM 2.3
Thanks a lot,
Best Regards,
Omar YUNSIHi,
It is ok to install CUOM and CUSM on the same server. See the guidelines here for the minimum hardware requirements:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_unified_operations_manager/2.3/installation/guide/prereq.html#wp1124344
In regards to licensing, if you have a license for CUOM 2.2, then the same license file is valid for license 2.3, so you won't need to purchase a new one.
If you decide to install CUOM and CUSM on a different server though you will need to have the license migrated to that server. The license is tied to the mac address of your server.
You can contact [email protected] to have the license migrated if needed.

Problem to add CUCM for the Service Monitor
I'm trying to add the CUCM for the CUSM(Service Monitor) and the Last Contact Status to CDR/CDRM DB is always "Waiting for Data"(According picture 1 attached). Due this issue, none Phone were added to service monitor.
I checked the credentials and all credentials are OK and the CUSM was added into CDR Billing Application Server list(picture 2).
I attached 2 pictures about the issue.
Picture 1: Service Monitor- Data Source Credentials Status
Picture 2: CUCM - CDR Management
Someone have any tips?
Thanks,
LuisWell,, no responses. I have finally gotten a solution thats doesnt have this error. So, If your having this problem do this
1: Go thru all your projectes and delete all the clientConfigs, webService References, and the Service References Directories.
2: In one method or another delete the existing Web Service and Create a new one with all your subs and functions copied over.
3. DO NOT name it the same thing, so somethng like myWebSvc_03_ for the 3d time you have done this process. Fortunately, on this interation, all seems well. I can even do an update WebService without destroying the links. Makes
me wonder how much junk is hanging out in the code somewhere. I dont know if this is true or not, but it seemed to have worked best when I created all the projects and then added the sebService last. I do know that I had problems when adding a new project
to the solution after the web service was working.
4. Rebuild, and then go add you service references back into your solutions and update the code as needed.
Maybe I should just make the webservice a totally separate entity, but I am the ony one that would use it, so that seemed a additional complication.
One sort of unrelated note... You may have a solution that has a user control called in it, but itself is not using the web service. My project requires that I copy a clientConfig from another project. And then if you do a rebuild of the web service, you
my have to update this as well.
Im rather new to Silverlight, but this has been a real pain and a lot of work time lost due to this issue.
So, not an answer, but perhaps a workaround that will save you some of the pain that I have encountered.
Im marking this as answered, although its not really. At best its a workaround. -
Service Monitor crashing my app on computer Sleep
This happens reliably every time I put my laptop to sleep and
on 3 different laptops, one pc running vista, 2 macs (mac book pro
running 10.5 and powerbook running 10.4.x)
I've pulled this from my Console:
12/1/08 7:36:05 AM com.apple.launchd[89]
([0x0-0x12d12d].MyApp.AD2EA9E4B2AC983DA8BACF838450A1D27CCAA285.1[5428])

12/1/08 7:36:09 AM MyApp[6706] NSDocumentController
Info.plist warning: The values of CFBundleTypeRole entries must be
'Editor', 'Viewer', 'None', or 'Shell'.
servicemonitor was also implicated in crashing dreamweaver,
but I don't have those logs any more.
I have upgraded to 1.5 recently, previous to 1.5 my app got a
bug after being put to sleep, but I could never track the source,
and hadn't thought of looking in the console. (whoops.)
I have replace the old servicemonitor.swf with the version in
the 1.5 sdk, and my code matches up with the 1.5 docs, perfectly
other than some variable name variance.
Here is my code:
var conn = true;
var serve_monitor;
function initConnectionManager() {
trace("initializing connection manager");
var request = new air.URLRequest(remoteUrl);
serve_monitor = new air.URLMonitor( request );
serve_monitor.addEventListener(air.StatusEvent.STATUS,
manageConnectStatus);
serve_monitor.start();
function manageConnectStatus(e) {
if(serve_monitor.available == false){
displayOfflineMessage();
conn = false;
}else if(serve_monitor.available == true){
if(conn == false){
conn = true;
//trace("internet now available, reloding.");
window.location = "root.html";
Comment out the code in initConnectionManager and the app
runs completely fine after the computor put to sleep.
Is anyone out there experiencing anything similar?
Are there workarounds?
My app relies on an internet connection, and I'm loathe to
release without this being fixed.
Thanks in advance for any help!I've ripped everything out except the service monitor code,
which works without crashing.
I am adding pieces back in until I can reproduce it in a
simple sample. I've got quite a few systems in place and it may
take a while though.
In the mean time, could you have a look at the two lines I
posted from my console and try and point me in the right direction,
or tell me where I could find the info to interpret these lines?

All,
I just wanted to get an idea from the experts here - which tool/application, in your experience, has done a good job in monitoring of Windows-based system services (BO XI R2 services to be specific)? I am looking for some open-source (or freeware) tool that can help me with monitoring for the status of all BO services, including Tomcat. Any alerting capabilities when services go down or are high on CPU/RAM utilization would be added bonus, but if not, basic service monitor would be okay as well.
Has anyone used any OTS or custom tools for this kind of systems administration on Windows-based BO servers?
Regards,
SarangSarang,
And to give you more choices ... there has been movement recently between BO and Tivoli to develop more proactive monitoring tools,which you can read about here: [http://labs.businessobjects.com/enterprise_monitoring/default.asp])
Thanks,

Global Service Monitor (GSM) Config
Hello all, I have recently configured GSM with the external monitoring services being in the U.S.
When I look at the monitor - Authoring>MP Objects>Monitors>Multi-URL Template (*Monitor Name*) it shows enabled is set to true.
However when I look at - Monitoring>Monitoring>Application Monitoring>Web Application Availability Monitoring>Web Application Status - The monitor does not have a check mark next to it.
When I look at - Monitoring>Monitoring>Application Monitoring>Web Application Availability Monitoring>Test State - none of the five external servers are checked and they all say "Not Monitored"
So I'm trying to figure out if it's enabled or not and if not where do I go to enable it? When I have setup internal (Non GSM) web tests they are just enabled so I'm not sure what's different with this one.
Thank you,
MattHi,
Would you please restart the health service on the external servers. And we may try to flush health service state and caches for those server.
In addition, have you followed the below link to install GSM:

Having Issue with Service Monitor Report when using Oracle DB
Hi,
I set up Oracle XE to store monitoring and message data for Service Monitor. I configured the Database Connection in Policy Studio, and deployed the configuration. When starting the Service Monitor, I got "There are no reporting nodes configured." error.

It looks like the repConfig.xml file needs to be updated. If so, what elements? Anything else i am missing?You need to add a Gateway node the service monitor.
To do this browse to http://HOST:8040/
Using the default port, you can connect to the Service Monitor interface in a browser, where HOST points to the IP address or hostname of the machine on which Service Monitor is installed.
Right mouse click and add the Gateway node. -

Issue in Global Services Monitor GSM
Dear all,
I'm facing a problem in Global Services Monitor.
The Resources pool contains 4 Management Servers; 2 old and 2 recently installed.
The GSM was installed and was working normally on the old Management Servers.
But, after increasing the number of management servers to be 4 instead of two, the problem appeared.
The GSM is firing alerts on the new MS's and their state are critical (old 2 servers are healthy).
The alert description is as below:

Khaled A. HamadHi
Is there any requirement to install the Microsoft Root Certificate on the server where SCOM console is working? Shall I need to purchase Windows Azure Subscription also for GSM? Please let me know.
The scenario is - I have one SCOM server (Including all the server roles on the single server) and other server where VMM server and SCOM console is installed. I have installed GSM Management Packs on the SCOM server and configured one Web Availability Monitor
to be monitored from external servers (e.g. Chicago).
I am getting the below error:-

Hi,
Can anyone give me some instructions on how to print a VAS order?
When I try to print a VAS order template, I just get the message "Some error occured during printing".
Debugging it I found that some values are missing but I don't know where to define them (e.g. spool parameters, form, ...).
During VAS order execution, the transaction aborts after the error message is being sent.
Additionally, I didn't get a VAS order when I set the execution mode in the template to "during TO execution". When I confirmed the TO and wanted to post the goods issue for the shipment I got the error "Can't post goods issue, unconfirmed VAS orders exist". That I got the error is correct, since I set this up in customizing. The problem is that I can't find the VAS order despite confirming it. Any idea?
The ideal process would be as follows:
1. Create a shipment and VAS order for specific materials.
2. Create the TO for the shipment and start and print the VAS order.
3. Confirm the TO.
4. Confirm the VAS order.
5. Post goods issue.
As a "workaround" I could live with the following process:
1. Create a shipment and VAS order for specific materials.
2. Create the TO for the shipment, start the VAS order (ideally print some information on the VAS order).
The TO is rerouted to a different storage type.
3. Confirm TO.
4. Process and confirm VAS order at work station.
5. Create and confirm TO to goods issue area.
6. Post goods issue.
Can anyone help me with those processes, especially with the printing problem?
Thanks in advance.Hello Raj ,
VAS stands for Value-added Service. It is an operation performed on materials,
which enhances their value, worth, functionality or usefulness.
In a customer scenario, the customer might request some specific service to the
goods before they are delivered.
Some examples being
1. Company logo printed in a t-shirt
2. Special packing of the shirt
3. Labeling the material

Hi All,
I am using SCOM 2007 R2 CU4 in my environment. I want to do a service monitoring on specific agents. When i try creating this service monitor which comes under the Management pack template when i select the service which i want to monitor it does not
show all the services in the drop down.
For example - I have Windows audio service which is present on the machine, But it is not showing in the service list.
So from the services stating from "W" i see only 5 in SCOM and in services.msc in the Agent i see more than 5.
Below is the screen shot.
Can any one please help.
Gautam.75801Hi Yan Li,
So based on your above suggestion, If the services are already managed / monitored by a specific
management pack those services will not appear here in the Wizard while creating this type of a Management pack object alert right ?
If that is the case why does not the same reflect here in the operations console in the Services monitor
TAB ?
