Adding + sign before contact number

This may seem like a stupid question . I have a new iphone 4 . I have all my contacts set up no problem . I will be travelling and need to add the +1 sign before my friends cell numbers so i can text them . Is there a way on the contact page to add it without deleting the telephone number and retyping it in

What does it mean when a plus sign shows up before the number?

I have a question that is going to sound very strange to some.
I have had two incidents with my iphone where I went to pick it up and it started dialing a number--A number I didn't dial and a number that didn't dial me. This happened on two separate occasions. Both times, there is a plus sign before the number. It is a domestic number and I have never seen the plus sign on my phone except when this has happened.
Does anyone know what that plus sign indicates?

Click on calendars at the bottom of the screen. Make sure that birthdays are checked.
We may think we have 1 calendar, but iPhone puts things in different calendars. Sometimes we can somehow lose one. Well not really lost, but somehow it just gets de-selected. So just make sure that all that you want to see are checked.
One cool thing I like about this is that they have added US Holidays which didn't used to be there like on most paper calendars. Nice to have them available now!

You're using Exchange Active Sync to synchronize contacts and calendars with your company Exchange Server. If the default calendar/address books are set to the Exchange account, it will sync automatically. This is normal.
Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars to change the default address book and calendars to a something else, iCloud or something synced from your home computer instead.

"Message Sending Failed" after adding the country code number?

I changed a contact's number (in this case I simply added a country code to it) and now the messages aren't sending to the number I changed it to. How can I get the SMS library to redirect itself to the new number? When I delete the contact, the SMS library shows that it is still sending to the old number.
The only solution I've found on the internet so far is delete the SMS library. I have tested it with other numbers in which I added a country code to as well and it works. But the text messages for this particular contact are very important and I need to keep them. Is there ANY way I can redirect an old SMS library to a new number?

Hi, Thilina66. You say you have entered the country code but still cannot make international calls. I suppose you are adding the international access code before the country code. This internaltional access code (011 in the US, 00 in Europe, etc.) can be substituted by adding a + sign before the country code.
For example, to call a number in the UK from the US you have to dial:
011 44 7540 267898
or
+44 7540 267898
To call a number in the US from the UK you have to dial:
00 1 212 456 1470
or
+1 212 456 1470
Please check that the contact number in your address book is correctly written if you are dialing directly from the address book or that you enter the correct numbers in the keyboard if you are dialing from the keyboard.

Phone adding +31 before dialing?

Out of the blue, my phone has started adding +31 before all calls that I make using my contacts list.
I'll select a contact that shows the number as "789-789-7890" and when it dials, it will show "+317897897890." There will then be a prompt that says the number can't be reached and I should dial again.
This makes the entire contact list function worthless as I have to manually enter numbers in order to call them. All contacts seem to be affected.
Any ideas on what's causing this?

It might be worth having a look at Menu>Options>Phone Options>Smart Dialling and make sure the country code is set correctly eg +44 for UK. Save your setting. You may need to reboot and or battery pull.

So the question is, what device are you changing it on? Before doing anything, backup all devices, save all photos somewhere on a hard drive and export your contacts and calendar just in case. I am a real beginner here, but I have been dealing with this issue for two weeks so I think I am getting a handle on it. Hopefully someone can give even better advice.
iCloud.com is a slave to whatever account you have setup on your IOS device, so it doesn't care what you sign in as. There is nothing to "change" there, just sign in as whatever Apple ID you have setup on your devices.
I would start on the Macbook. Go under preferences, iCloud, and then sign out of your iCloud account. Sign back in, but enter the new Apple ID that you want to use. This will delete the old account, but give you the option of keeping everything you have in iCloud on your computer. Turn everything on that you want to sync, and you will be back up with iCloud connected to a new AppleID. iCloud.com will now mirror your MacBook.
On the iPhone, go under Settings, and then iCloud, and delete the existing account. You will loose whatever is in the Cloud from your phone, but they should already be back in the cloud from your MacBook fromthe above step, so no worried. Setup a new iCloud account with the Apple ID you used above, and enable the things you want to sync. Everything should be back now and you have the new AppleID associated with your iCloud.
The iPad is the same as the iPhone, delete the old and establish a new iCloud account with the AppleID you used above. You will loose anything that is in the cloud from the iPad but it should repopulate once the new Apple ID is established.

How do I find a deleted contact number?

So, I had an iPhone 5 and deleted someones number a while ago. When I got my iPhone 6 plus and synced it, that number was synced because I hadn't deleted it before my last back up (of iPhone 5) I then deleted the number off my 6 plus and have not backed the 6 plus up since I've had it. I am looking to find that number, I have tried looking on my mac in Contacts (nothing is saved) I have looked for "Mobile sync" but it does not exist on my Mac, nor does 'iTunes Sync' or anything similar. I really need this number and I don't know if I can retrieve the number by reverting the back up and getting it and then reverting that back up to get to now, if that makes sense? Basically I don't want to lose the information on my phone now but need something on a previous back up (I have not backed up since that one) Please help, I am not connected to iCloud, I have tried an iPhone back up program and it didn't work, I really need this number.

If you still have the iPhone 5 backup you can backup your iPhone 6 and restore it to the iPhone 5 backup. Then get the contact number and information (write it down) then restore your iPhone 6 to the backup you just created and, finally, add the contact to the iPhone 6.

Unfortunately I'm not sure there's much I can do to help. When your contacts are deleted it's not unusual to still see this when you text or use spotlight search. The device retains some residual contact information in cache memory even when the contacts are deleted. However, there's no way to access this directly, or transfer it back to your contacts on your device. If you have a backup of your device, you may be able to recover them by restoring to the entire backup, however this is not always successful. If you want to try, and your backup is in iCloud, use this procedure to prevent any recovered contacts from being overwritten by iCloud:
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete the iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).

i have a variable whose length shud be 9 always and sometimes it can be less than 9. To make it 9 always I'll be adding some zeros to it. Is there any method in java which adds 0's before a number?

Siri can't found contact number in phone book

When i trying to use siri to call someone which the name and contact is inside my icloud/phone book but siri always said she can't found the contact number. i hope someone can advise on this matter. TQ

Please realize that is only slightly more helpful than it started with a letter in the alphabet and ends in plist. Almost everything in that folder starts with com.apple. That is the default naming convention. It is a reverse domain name system (think reverse web address). So all Apple's preferences start with com.apple.
For anyone trying to fix a similar problem, please don't randomly delete plist files. While most will cause no harm and will get rebuilt automatically, deleting some will cause a little shock and awe. com.apple.mail.plist being the most shocking. If you delete it, you will not see your email in Mail until you recreate your accounts exactly as you had them before you deleted the plist. The email is still there, it is just that Mail doesn't know how to find them.

So I have an iPhone 4S and my mom has an Iphone 4. Recently we discovered that whenever we add or delete contacts from her or my phone, they get added or deleted in both our iPhones. So for example: When I add a friend to my contacts, it gets added to her contact list as well. When I delete one of my contacts, it gets deleted from her contact list as well! I think it has something to do with having synced her iphone once on my laptop using my itunes but her phone doesn't have my apps, photos, or music so I don't get how this is happening. You are logged into icloud on the same account.
Go to settings>icloud and either "delete account" (which signs you out of that account on that device) or just turn contacts off
I would recommend one of you create your own account specifically for use with icloud.
Again you can access your icloud settings by going to settings>icloud
