Adding Song to iWeb page

Usually when I move a song to a webpage in iWeb, it comes as a square; lately, it is a straight line; looks like a sound bar, but it is not.
Any thoughts?

I am dragging a song from iTunes via Media Browser.
Here is the screenshot of what I am seeing:
I often add songs but it comes as a square that says "drag image here."
Thank you.

  • Adding Flickr to iWeb page

Hi. I'm trying to add a link to my iWeb pages which has my Flickr photos on. How do I do it? I know how to just add an ordinary link, but I want to to add one of those links that I see on other blogs that show little thumbnails of the photos.
    Hope it makes sense!

If you can get the code from Flickr, you can add it to your iWeb page after publishing.
Here are some basic instructions for making html changes after publishing in iWeb:
    1. Type a placeholder in place of where you want the item to go. i.e. CODEGOESHERE or something like that. Publish your site via iWeb
    2. Find your html files.
    Go to iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/Sitename/Pagename.html
(If you publish to a folder, look in the folder you selected or try looking in your Sites folder of your home folder. )
There are two ways to handle accessing your iDisk.
    Method 1:
Turn on local copy of your iDisk in System Prefs, with or without automatic syncing.
If you publish your site via iWeb, now the updated pages exist online but the old pages are on your local iDisk. You need to sync (automatically or manually) to get the new pages on your local iDisk (on your computer).
Then you can open the updated files, make your html changes in Text Edit or whatever program, and SYNC AGAIN (automatically or manually) to update the online version of the site to match what you have just changed on your local iDisk
    Method 2:
Mount the iDisk when needed via the "Go" menu in Finder. This is the ONLINE VERSION of your iDisk, not a local copy. When you publish your site via iWeb, the changes INSTANTLY appear on the iDisk on your desktop. If you make html edits or other changes, they appear INSTANTLY online.
    I recommend Method 2 - much easier!!!
    3. Make the html changes.
You can open the html files generated by iWeb in any text or html editor. In TextEdit, to view the code in an HTML file, choose File > Open and select "Ignore rich text commands." Then locate the .html file (as described in step 2) and click Open.
Make your changes (i.e. replace CODEGOESGERE with your code!) and don't forget to save your changes (not Save As, just Save)!!!
    4. Remember, if you make a change to a page like this post-publishing, and later re-publish, you have to make the html changes again! Set up a Find/Replace command in MassReplaceIt and you can do this very quickly. You can save your queries so you can make all of your changes with one click the next time you save.

  • Adding Slideshow to iWeb page

I am trying to add a slideshow to my homepage on iWeb? I need it to automatically start scrolling when the page is opened. I have no idea about what software, if any, that I can use. PLEASE HELP!

What you are referring to is a banner rather than a slideshow.
The first part of the bannner and slideshow section of iWeb for Musicians shows various banners....

This is an example with captions and hyperlinks to other pages...

  • Adding Powerpoint to iweb page

Can I add a PowerPoint lecture to a web page in IWeb?

You can save your Powerpoint presentation as webpages.
Put the file & folder with its content on the server and determine the URL to the first page.
Then display the slideshow in a HTML Snippet with the <iframe> HTML element.
    <iframe src="http://url.to.file.html" frameborder="0" width="500" height="500" scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
Or save the presentation as images or a movie.
    See what suits you best.

  • Problem adding jpegs to iWeb pages

When I add a group of jpegs (typically numbered 01, 02, 03...10, 11, 12, etc), the group will be added in numerical order, with the exception of 01, which is always added to the end of the group. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Apparently no-one has this problem.

  • Add a song to iWeb '09 page, publish it, it thinks its a movie...

When I add a song from the media section to a page and publish it, once I go to the site it wont play the song. It asks for _+my account password+_ to "play the movie". IT'S NOT A FREKIN' MOVIE!!!! I know I'm no genius but I didn't think you had to be with iWeb '09.
I have done this process in the past and it worked, and the last couple of days it seems to work one time and then not the next.
    What am I doing wrong?

iWeb uses QT to play the audio added to a web page. When downloading the track there are two options: Save as source and Save as Quicktime Movie.
Where are you hosting the site? Can you provide us with the URL so we can examine it first hand?
For other methods of adding an audio track to a web page see this demo page: Audio Players
More info on adding audio to a page can be had here: iWeb for Musicians

  • Looking for 'music player' widget to play songs dragged onto iWeb page

Has anyone found a 'music player' widget that can be embedded into an iWeb page, and that can then load and play the songs that have been dragged onto that page?
I have found several such widgets that can scan a URL for mp3 files, and I have successfully embedded each of those widgets into an iWeb page using the HTML Snippet, but none of them could find the mp3 files that I dragged onto the page, even though I supplied the widget with the URL for that page.

Wyodor, I just wanted to let you know that I am having a lot of fun with the WimpyPlayer, and I like the skin you sent me. Thank you so much.
I've been playing around with it. I had to reduce the height of the widget to fit on my webpage, but when I did, the text became too small to read, so instead, I went into the skin's jpeg and cut out the midsection of the playlist area. Then I had to readjust the playlist's number of lines displayed and its slider size to fit. I also changed the color scheme to match my webpage, and some of the Help tags. All in all, it looks great, and I am very happy with it.
The one feature I miss from when I was using iWeb's built-in QuickTime player is the ability to have a photo (such as an album cover) displayed with the music. Do you happen to know of any music players that enable you to attach a photo with each track or album?

  • Adding a song on iWeb

Is there any what to make a song automatically play when someone comes to my page instead of having to click play?

    Debbie,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Drag your chosen audio file into your selected iWeb page. When placed there, you will see a box identified as "Drag Image Here". Shrink this box as small as possible and place it in an "out of the way" place on the page. (Don't place an image into the box!)
    Publish your site.
As Kirkster has pointed out already, you must now do some post-publish editing of your iWeb files. Get used to it. If you are really going to be creative with iWeb, you will learn to use a text editor to modify the html that iWeb creates.
Your song is embedded in the page to which you placed it. Assuming you are using .Mac as your web host, navigate to the .js file of that page, using the Go menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Sites/iWeb/Nameofsitefolder/Page_filesFolder/Page.js
Open the .js files for that particular page on your iDisk with any text editor (I like Taco, and it's free) and make the following changes to the script code that controls your movie (song): (you will find the movie code near the top of the page in the .js file)
    Change autoplay="false" to autoplay="true"
    Change loop="false" to loop="true"
Changing controller value="true" to controller value="false" will remove the controller from the page entirely. Make these changes in both sets of tags, (object and embed).
Make the changes and just "Save". (Do not use Save As!) Clear your browser cache and you should see the changes take effect immediately. Bear in mind you will have to make this modification each time you republish your site. You can also save this modified .js file and replace the republished .js file with it, as long as no other changes were made to the page in iWeb.

  • Adding Java to a iWeb page

I am looking into getting an iWeb account and such to create a webpage for a business I am starting. I would be creating virtual tours that would export into Java where the viewer would be able to look into a home by clicking and dragging the pictures to move through the home, and then clicking links in the Java to move to another room in the home.
What I want to know is: Is there a way to add Java to an iWeb page? I have seen that movies and photo albums I create can be added, but what about Java?
Any help on this would be great! THANKS!

If you want to do this, then don't get an MMe account. Use an external host/server that does support java and php. If it is a business site too, it will be more worthwhile, as you get a better service - quicker upload and generally more for your money than MMe can offer. MMe was not designed for business use really, but for ease of personal use with one click publishing.

  • Adding a facebook link to an iWeb page (08)

I got a free Twitter icon and somehow got it to operate by marrying the link to it.... for lack of a better term; spent the better part of 30 minutes getting it done.
Tried to remember how I did it, and repeat that with a facebook icon.... haven't been able to get it done.
Can anyone tell me how to "widget" a facebook link to my iweb 08 page?
    Thanks!

I see this at the top:
"This question is not answered. "Helpful" answers available: 2 . "Solved" answers available: 1 .
It seems there is a "solved" answer, but gives me no link to go to it. I "searched several different options but could only find one thing even close and that was to embed the facebook page in an iweb page... not what I want.
Is there anyone that can point me in the correct direction to go to the link that gives me the "solved" answer?
    Thanks.

  • Adding audio to an iweb page

Can anyone help me by telling me how to add audio to an iweb page? I've got audio files, recordings on my computer and want to be able to publish them so others can listen.
    Thanks for your help!

There are other ways to add audio to a web page. There are jukeboxes where you can list multiple tracks for playing. This demo page has some examples of flash audio players: Audio Players. Other audio options are here: More Audio.
For jukeboxes see this page in Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site: Music Players.

  • Is there a way to open an iWeb page in 'new' window?

I'm trying to show a client how to run iWeb so he can tweak his own site on the road. He doesn't know html. I don't want to have to write out a complicated list of instructions for him.
Is there a way IN iWeb to have an iWeb page open as a 'new' window?
He's a songwriter ... wants visitors to be able to open a song and have it play while they continue to browse his site.
    thanks
    b

    Ben:
When you create a text link to an file you can set it to open in another window by setting it up as an external page checking the appropriate checkbox in the Inspector/Link pane. . You would have to upload the file to the Music folder on the iDisk beforehand and then use the following URL:
    http://homepage.mac.com/youraccount_name/.Music/FileName
Note the dot before Music in the URL. Don't forget it. See the link titled *"This sentence is linked to a jpg file."* in this demo page. It's linked to a photo but the principle is the same.

  • How do I add Bloglines graphic to my iWeb page

I have created a knitting blog using iWeb and .mac. Most knitters use Bloglines to follow their favorite sites. I have added RSS to the top of my blog but would also like to add Bloglines and its subscribe button.
I went to Bloglines, created an account, and went through the steps to pick an icon and generate the HTML to add to my web page. I have no clue how I'm suppose to add this code in iWeb.
I did a search of iWeb's help and it seems there are only 3 choices for adding feeds, RSS, podcast, and photocast. I just want to add Bloglines to this list.
Am I not understanding what RSS is? I thought it was different than the more specific Bloglines. Traffic to my site will be limited if I can't figure out how to hook into the knitting blogline community.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kathryn

Instead of putting the HTML code that you get from Bloglines into your iWeb HTML files, it will be easier just to import the button graphics into iWeb and then attach the appropriate hyperlinks to the buttons using the iWeb Inspector Hyperlink tab... Here are some general steps...
    1. Go to http://www.bloglines.com and log into your account.
    2. Click on the Feeds tab.
    3. Click on the "Get a Subscribe To Bloglines Button" link
    4. Decide which button you want to use and the Control-click on the button image.
    5. Select "Save Image to Desktop" from the menu that pops up.
    6. Go ahead and enter your iWeb RSS feed URL and then click "Generate HTML"
    7. On the next screen, you'll see some code that looks like this:
    8. Copy the underlined URL from your generated HTML code. This is all you will need.
    9. Now launch iWeb
    10. Drag the button graphic that you saved into your page
    11. Select the button and the open the Inspector Hyperlink tab.
    12. Check the box "Enable as hyperlink"
    13. Next to Link To:, choose "External URL"
    14. In the URL field, enter/paste in the URL from Step 8
That should be it! You can select the button graphic on the page and copy and paste it to any number of locations on your iWeb pages now. The link and everything should stay intact.
Let me know if this works out for you. Good luck!

  • Do  I need Tiger in order to upload a song to iWeb

I'm just now experimenting with the new iLife, and drug a song into my iWeb... it plays, has the little control pane device on the layout, but once uploaded it doesn't have the control pane nor music.
Am I gonna hear how I need Tiger to upload and play a song to iWeb?

Did you bring the song in from iTunes? I'm guessing that you did...if so, the song will not play as it is protected from being used in this way.
You may want to seek another source for your songs.
There is also some very good advice and tips from Michael Wong about music on a web page here:

  • Adding widgets to iWeb

    Hi there,
Another question....i have added widgets to my page via the html snippet option on iWeb. What I would like to do is take it a step further and customize the look of the widget. Is this possible??

You would need to alter the html code that you have placed in the html snippet, unless it is custom code, from another site, in which case no.
If you want other designs, go to where you got the widget in the first place and copy and paste the code for a different design.
