Adding sound to the pages file

Hi,
Is there any way to add an audio file right after a sentence on a Pages document in a way that it stays in the same position after the it is exported to ePub?
In iBA it is posible and it simply does not move after the book is released however in Pages it is not the same.
I have attached a couple of pictures so that you get an more clear idea of this.
As you can see the audio went up.
In this case it stays where it should be.

Your manifest should be something like this
Manifest-Version: 1.0

Well, you don't actually use the hyphens. I put then there to emphasize the empty line, that is very important. Without that line the manifest will not be included in the jar file.

Hi all,
I have a pl/sql portlet. It compiles fine and shows up perfectly in portlet repository. But when i add this to the page, I get following error

I checked the portlet specification file (.pks) and body file (.pkb) for any mistakes but they seems fine.
Does anyone know what can cause this error?

Could you provide some more details about your code? I will try to look into possible causes of the error. One thing you may try is subscribing to the Knowledge Exchange on http://portalcenter.oracle.com. Then you could post your code in your community folder and everyone would be able to test it out.
Of course, this means you must be willing to share your code with everyone.

Upgrading to the Lion & reinstall again from iWork, the Pages 4.1 worked, however, now every time I open a Page file it keeps opening all the page files

After upgrading to Lion the Pages didn't respond to it. So, I reinstalled the Pages 4.1 from iWork. It worked. However, eversince every time I try open a new or exsisting page file it opens all the pages files that I worked on it last several days or a week. Suddenly many page files on the desktop! Kind of confusing... Can someone help with this issue... Thanks

What's the best practice to manage the page file?

We have one Hyper-v Server running windows 2012 R2 with 128 GB RAM and 2 drives (C and D). It setup Automatically manage page file size for all drives. What's the best practice to manage the page file?

For Hyper-V systems, my general recommendation is to set the page file to 1-4 GB. This allows for a mini-dump should something happen. 99.99% of the time, Microsoft will be able to figure out the cause of the problem from the mini-dump. It does not make
sense on a Hyper-V system to set aside enough space to capture all the memory on the system because only a very small portion of that memory is used by the parent partition. Most of the memory is under control of the individual VMs.
Yes, I had one of the Hyper-V product group tell me that I should let Windows manage it. A couple of times I saw space on my system disk disappear because the algorithm decided it wanted all the space for the page file. Made it so I couldn't
patch my systems. Went back in and set the page file to 1-4 GB and have not had any issues since.

I am not sure what this is from but assume that it is having problems communicating with my provider. Does anyone have any idea what this could be caused by?

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your response! I ran the XML file through a validator and examined it manually, and it is fine. Moreover, if I add additional portlets to the provider.xml file, they add themselves without any problems. I'd think the entire thing would break if the provider.xml file was not well formed for any reason. But if anyone has any futher suggestions about this it would be greatly appreciated.

Adding sounds to the sound alerts

Is it possible to add different sounds to the alert sounds in Snow Leopard. The only choice I am given is default sounds. I guess another question is what library / file are sounds stored in. What type of file are they file as etc. I would like to change the sound of received mail in Entourage. Thanks

Need the pages file 09 on the abysmal yosemite

just bought a new apple air, with the yosemite downloaded;
but I found the pages 5.5 abysmal, without the full-screen and maneuverability seen in the old one...
wanted to retrieve it from apps but in vain;
please help out, the mighty apple gurus,
really need the ease and simplicity in the old pages file

Well, the weird thing is that I installed OS X mavericks on the old Air, the 2011 one, before the launch of Yosemite older Air.
And the old pages 09 and the new pages file coexisted on the 2011 Air (but still, the pages 09 is slightly different when connected to the projector, with the control panel folded and thus less convenient )
Then I upgraded my new Air, the 2014 one, to Yosemite, only to find the new pages removed the full-screen option and a few more novel but useless options that only impede maneuverability.
Therefore I am asking for the favor of helping me, or teaching me, to retrieve the old pages on the new one; and I guess I don't have the old iWork DVD and thus not the old iWork installer.
But my old Air can still run the old and slightly different pages 09 while running the newer pages(not the Yosemite version).

Adding menuItems to the Pages context menu

I am trying to add menuitems to the Pages context menu. I found this:

I try to record a sound but the recorded file is empty...

Hi, I try to record a sound through the mic in, in my computer... but all i get is an empty file! (or better a file of 0 sec...) There must be a little mistake in this VI, but I can't find it, can somebody help me?

I don't see anyplace in the program where you are actually saving a file to disk. You have the output of SI Read being filtered and graphed and also back out to the sound card, but that's it. The only Snd Write Wave File function is outside the loop and will only write an existing file to a new location.

How do i switch desktops and leave the pages file window behind?

hi folks, the open pages 09 file has started moving with me when i switch from one desktop screen to the next. can someone tell me how i turn this function off? i have tried several combinations in system pref. to no avail.
i used to enjoy having my main pages file open on one desktop and then other pages files open on the next desktop. this doesn't seem to work anymore. it works for Word and preview and all the other apps, but not pages 09
can anyone help?

Is there a way you can give us the option to turn off sound except the page we are actively viewing?

As advertising is becoming more and more prevalent and is being allowed to automatically start running on a page we need a way to either prevent that or at the very least turn an option to off any sound that is coming from each individual page/tab that we have up but is not the currently viewed page. A group option would not work because of things like Pandora so it would have to be on a tab by tab basis or like popups on a browser basis with exceptions (although that could lead to a lot of exceptions). It seems that I am watching something and on another tab an advertisement will auto start and drown out what I was watching. Then I have to go and locate the page - sometimes difficult if you have a bunch of tabs open at one time like I normally do - and turn off the ad or mute the ad... something along those lines. So figure out how to kill the ads.

You can use click-to-play and set the plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page.

Instead, can I do this- Class-Path: Lib/*.jar OR Class-Path: Lib/*.class

Adding keywords to the photo files

I know I can assign keywords in iPhoto, but they are not actually written to the photo file itself. I also know I can use iViewMedia Pro to "attach" the keywords to the files using Old Toad's tutorial.
I already have iViewMedia, but it's not the Pro version.
Can I use it to attach keywords, even though it's not the pro version, or do I have to use the pro version?
I just recently starting using keywords so I don't have too many and not too many of my photos have keywords assigned. I was reading a book on Tiger and saw that I could assign keywords with Preview. I don't guess this will allow me to assign keywords to multiple photos at one time. Does this attach the keywords to the file itself? and Will these keywords appear in iPhoto when the photo is imported?

iView Media does not have the capability of writing annotations back to the file. You can use iVMP in its demo mode to do that but it'll be essentially a one time (or 21 day) affair.
Preview will add keywords to the actual photo file which will be read by iPhoto when it is imported. If you add keywords after it's been imported with Preview iPhoto will not recognize them. It's a slow, tedious process with Preview, however.
Other than iVMP and Preview there are some applications, mostly professional, that can do that also. You'll just have to experiment.

Adding namespace to the source file

Hi,
We are sending xml file data from MDM to XI.
How can we add the interface namspace to the root node of the message?
Any inputs on the same would be helpful because without adding the namespace the data is not getting picked from MDM.

The examples that ship with the book have been developed for BPEL Process Manager 2.x. In version 10.x the XPath expressions have to include namespaces in the steps. For example, when checking the flight ticket price, instead of:

Keynote and Flash export. No sound in the flash file

Oh well...
Here I am again. I have recorded speech for my slide show as a narration and there is a sound file on every slide. The sound files are mp3s (Exported from Audacity as mp3 ID3v1). Come to playing the show and the sound doesn't play. All the builds still play correctly but sound there aint. How do I fix it?

That parameter just has to do with playback from your computer. From all the reading that I have done lately it seems that Flash 6 only supports 3 differnet type of sound files.
Supports PCM, ADPCM and MP3 audio/sound playback for the speaker and headphone.

This would be why all those other types of files that you put in a project wont export. Flash 6 doesn't support them. Also looking at the release notes (tucked away in the Macromedia/Adobe archives) Flash Player 6.0r40 and later supports MP3 files with ID3 v1.0 and v1.1 tags.

Now I tested my Flash file with ID3 v2.0 tags and if worked fine. I think it has something to do with give the taags to the player so the player can do something with them (check the link above). Also having flash player 9 might have something to do with it. Anyway the ID3 v 1.0 tags are more compatable with software than the v2.0 tags. So I would use v1.0 anyway. I think that is what iTunes/QT uses anyway.
Also another thing that is weird about this whole saga is that I checked the Audio MIDI settings earlier in the piece. They were set to the correct setting. Audacity must have changed it back (of maybe something else did). But I did notice a little white noise when I did start playing my Audacity tracks (like a skip on a LP). Happens when the setting is changed. But the strange thing is that I have no idea what was causing it to change to 96000 Hz. I suppose it doesn't matter too much but rather that know that it happens. (I do remeber a time when a Flash file did it. I have a slow conection and I think that the player did something weird. That's another story)
