  • Adding Images to a new AVI File

    Hi,
I need to create an AVI video with various images. I don't have much ram so I have to write each image I have to the video file, any Ideas in how to do this the easy and short way? This is my code:
    for(int i=0;i<numFrames;i++)
Image theFrame = //Here I get the frame from a video
    addToVideo(theFrame)
Any Ideas on how the addToVideo method should be? (the frame is the ith frame)

Thank you for reminding me that I can search. Unfortunately all the solutions upload all the frames to memory. I want to add each frame to the actual file and when the final frame comes up, close the file so I can play it.

  • Display Closed Captions: Video (.avi) + Subtitles (.srt)

    Hello.
I am trying and failing to play a video with soft subtitles. Is there a way to do this without using software to hard-code/embed the subtitles onto the Video.avi file?
    - My 'videos' folder contains two files with the same name but different extensions (Video.avi and Video.srt)
    - In the video playback options I have checked the 'Display Closed Captions' box.
    Thanks.

Hi.  What we do is resize the project as one of the last steps in the development process.  We resize the height only, adding about 45 pixels.  We position the existing project at the top, thus adding about 45 pixels at the bottom as a "footer".  This footer then contains the playbar and also leaves enough room for two lines of closed captioning.  Of course we have to take this extra space into consideration when we do our original screen captures.  We capture at 1005 x 605, then resize twice --- the first time to add 25 pixels to the top for a header, then the second time to add 45 pixels to the bottom for a footer.  Each time we keep the original project the same size and fill the background with color, so the actual screen captures do not get rescaled.  The end result is a published project that is 1005 x 675.
The other alternative is to position the application you are capturing on a blank desktop background and capture the application window and some of the extra blank desktop background below the window.  But this method prevents you from using the "snap to fit" option when capturing an application.
    I hope this makes sense.

  • Adding subtitle tracks to AVI or QT movies

    Hi,
I have a video in .avi format, with an associated .srt subtitle file. I can play the two together using VLC, however I'd like to burn the subtitles to the video. I've seen some explanations for how to do this, however they all require programs that seem to be for people much more involved in manipulating audio and video - I'm just looking for a easy wa to add subtitles. Any ideas on where I could find this? I don't have QT Pro, however I am able to convert the avi files to QT movie files, using Divx Doctor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    nanoo

Actually, I've been playing around with the new Closed Caption Importer component
    http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/ClosedCaptionImporter/index.html
I like the look of it and it just needs to be fleshed out to be more user friendly for the creation of captions, but it's following a standard that allows the captions to be inside the movie file. (Some of the tools I've found convert .scc to .srt.. with QuickTime able to read the .scc, it should make it easier)

  • .avi files and subtitle drag&drop

Is there any video player that can play .avi files and also support drag&drop subtitles? I tried Perian with Quick time and now it plays .avi files perfectly. However still can't drag the subtitles to Quicktime screen. Also I tried Miro and VLC Player. They both lack of 'drag&drop subtitle' function.
I'm new to mac, only 3 days. Maybe there is a trick to do that drag&drop thing. Any help?

My Xtreamer media player won't read srt sub files downloaded from my iMac and stored in a 1Tb seagate external disk. However, the Xtreamer Elvira media player will read all the .avi files I have loaded in the external disk. Any ideas?

I am experiencing the same issue with a new external DVD burner, a Sony DRX-840U. When I load a CD into this external drive it appears in iTunes but when you go to import or play the CD iTunes indicates playing or importing for each individual track for just a moment. The end result is that nothing is ever imported or played. I am experiencing this on two different systems. One a notebook running Win2K and the other a desktop running XPpro. If I use the internal DVD drives on either of these systems everything work just fine. Yet I am able to use this new external DVD drive with every other application. For example Window Media Player has no problem playing or importing the same CD that iTunes fails on. The last person indicated that if one set the DVD drive in question to be the drive of choice under preferences>advanced>burning that all was ok. I my case this Sony external drive is the drive listed as the drive of choice for burning yet the issue still exists.
As this appears to be an issue that others are also experiencing help from Apple Tech Support would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can I write a AVI file adding images (BufferedImages) of one in one?

Hi!! I show some point clouds in Java3D, then I get the BufferedImages of each scene, but I want to make a AVI file of the following way:
    1)I make (ans I show it) a scene 3D.
2)I get a BufferedImage of this scene.
3)I use a JMF processor to add this bufferedImage to the file .AVI.
    4) I return to the step 1).
    Regards!

If you were using OSX 10.7 then you could go back to a previous version, but you have overwritten the file.

  • Adding and playing .avi files

    Hi;
I know that Quicktime does not support .avi files; so I suppose that iPhoto does not support it as well. The other day I was amazed when I was trying to add an .avi video file to iPhoto, and it accepted and even played it. Knowing that I have Perian installed, is it natural for iPhoto to accept .avi files? And is there a possibility that this causes me any problems?
    Thank you.

Importing .avi files will not harm iPhoto. By installing Perian you have extended the capabilities of the app.
File formats are not so important with video. .mov or .avi are really containers that hold datastreams (your video) vreated with particular codecs. It's the codecs that are important. What perian does is add support to Quicktime for the most common codecs used in .avi formats.
This really is not a problem.

  • How to open AVI files?

I have six AVI files that I very much need to see.   They come on a CD-ROM.  I have transferred them to my hard drive.   They do not work from either the CD-ROM or the hard drive.
GetInfo identifies these videos as “AVI movie.”
The closest I can get is with Real Player, Version 12.0.1 (1750).  This application opens a window for each file.  The thermometer across the bottom of the window moves as if the application is playing the video, but the window remains totally black.   (The videos should not have any sound, so I do not expect to hear anything from them.)
I have no luck at all with VLC and QuickTime Player.  VLC, Version 2.0.7 Twoflower (Intel 64bit), reports:
QuickTime Player, Version 10.0 (131), reports:
I get this problem with videos from people who do not use Macinstoshes.
Does anyone know how to open such AVI files?

I have Perian 1.2.3.  Its update function reports that is the latest version.
Perian's GetInfo has the following report, which says nothing about the T263 codec:

    Hi:
I've just bought a Smart TV Toshiba 40L7335DG and when I try to watch contents from an USB drive with video (AVI, MP4, MKV...) and subtitles in .SRT format (the most common) I don't see any subtitles on screen. • Is there a way to transfer subtitles (text) from one iMovie file to another?

    Hi,
I spent literally hours of my life using iMovie 09 to add subtitles to a video before realising that I'd added them to the wrong one! You see, when I imported the video that I actually wanted to add subtitles to, instead of showing up at the top of the "Last Import" screen which would have made sense, it showed up at the bottom - below another version of the same video that I had imported into iMovie a month earlier. I didn't even remember doing this so didn't think twice about spending hours meticulously adding subtitles to this file. It's only when I got to the end of it that I saw the other video and nearly passed out from disbelief and anger....
Anyway, before I go through the whole painful process again, I just wanted to make sure that there's not a way to transfer the subtitles I did for the wrong video onto the right video? If there is, and someone could tell me how, I will love you forever.
    Thanks!
P.S. Why is iMovie 09 not an option in the dropdown menu?

You should be keeping them all on your computer.  You can just sync them to your new idevice
    You can also redownload them.

  • Read an avi file using "Read from binary file" vi

My question is how to read an avi file using "Read from binary file" vi .
My objective is to create a series of small avi files by using IMAQ AVI write frame with mpeg-4 codec of 2 second long (so 40 frames in each file with 20 fps ) and then send them one by one so as to create a stream of video. The image are grabbed from USB camera. If I read those frames using IMAQ AVI read frame then compression advantage would be lost so I want to read the whole file itself.
I read the avi file using "Read from binary file" with unsigned 8 bit data format and then sent to remote end and save it and then display it, however it didnt work. I later found that if I read an image file using "Read from binary file" with unsigned 8 bit data format and save it in local computer itself , the format would be changed and it would be unrecognizable. Am I doing wrong by reading the file in unsined 8 bit integer format or should I have used any other data types.
I am using Labview 8.5 and Labview vision development module and vision acquisition module 8.5
Your help would be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Check out the (full) help message for "write to binary file"
The "prepend array or string size" input defaults to true, so in your example the data written to the file will have array size information added at the beginning and your output file will be (four bytes) longer than your input file. Wire a False constant to "prepend array or string size" to prevent this happening.

  • .AVI File won't play in CS4, Gspot says all Codecs are properly installed

    Hello,
I'm trying to edit a video in adobe premier pro from an Olympus XZ-1 (.avi file/mpjeg) but it doesn't play at all.
I tried to find if there where any codecs missing with Gspot, but it says all codecs are in place.
What else can be the problem and how can I solve it?
Thank you very much in advance!
    - Lieve

    Jason,
    Welcome to the forum.
Yes, there is a clearcut answer, with three possible variations.
First, the Nikon should have their version of the MJPEG CODEC on a utility disc. That CODEC might install via the camera's driver, might be a separate install from the disc, or might install as part of a utility (say an editing program) on that disc. Not sure exactly where it will be located, but I feel confident that Nikon will have provided it. That will be the best, as different camera mfgrs. tweak common CODEC's. Even if you do not plan on using an included utility, you might need to install it, just to get the Nikon MJPEG CODEC. I did that for a Canon, and a Panasonic, and got their specific CODEC's, for their AV files.
The two variations would be either the Morgan, or MainConcept MJPEG CODEC, which will be a download and install. The weakness of these CODEC's is that they are more general, and might not reflect a Nikon tweak. That is why I mentioned Nikon's version first. It WILL be as good as it gets.
Good luck, and wish that I knew exactly where the Nikon MJPEG CODEC was located, or what process installed it, but if you find it added, after an installation, I would appreciate if you would update the thread, so that others will then know what to install, to get that CODEC.
