Adding Text and making it behave as other items?

I'm using the Center Stage theme and adding additional text on the primary menu. When I navigate to a submenu and then go back to the main title screen, the added text does not behave like text that was already included in the original design. That is to say, most of the other text "zooms in" while the added text just "appears." It's jarring and I'd like to make it "zoom in" as well.
How do I make added text behave like the rest of the entities on the theme?

Sorry, but the added text boxes are stationary and won't 'zoom' since they are not part of the theme's animation.

This is most likely an issue with Apple's iOS Mail program's.
I think you are opening your modified PDF in Apple built-in PDF Preview. Apple's code does not properly draw the comments, but if you look at the PDF in virtually any other PDF application that isn't just using Apple''s code, or on any desktop computer, you will see the comments you've added.

I dont wanna have to use IE9 but I need basic stability!!
I give a A- on the rest of FF4 & that makes this even more annoying because I want to use FF4!! I make my butta on eBay.com so I'm on all day buying & selling so I really need a quick fix or I'll have to make a quick move to Opera or IE9..PLEASE DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN...LOL!!

The Get Info. fields show up gray if the files is locked and iTunes knows it can't edit the file. Make sure the files are not marked as read only and, if necessary grant both your account and system full access to all files and subfolders of your media folder.
You can set Part of a Compilation for multiple tracks from the Options tab of Get Info.

Text and spell check in languages other than English

I am a linguist who writes papers primarily in English, but which contain a significant number of words and paragraphs in other languages. Is there a way (as there is in MSWord) to highlight these words and passages and choose a different language for them so that the spell checker does not see them as English misspelled words.
Even better would be for the spell checker to identify eventual errors in these paragraphs of foreign languages: However, when I choose EDIT > SPELLING > SPELLING... the spelling checker window has no button or menu allowing the user to select different languages or language dictionaries.
I know that Mail does it automatically for the languages provided. Is there anything comparable in Pages?
Most of the alternative languages I use are quite common, i.e. French, Spanish, Portuguese.

Select your paragraph, click on the Text Inspector, More button, then select the language from the menu.

Help producing text and image next to each other in output.

I've been trying to produce a PDF and HTML version of a Highlights for Users section using FM and RH in TCS3. All of our documentation is produced in Framemaker and RH is used to produce the WebHelp output. What I would like to have is text left-justified next to an image, separated by a company-coloured line for each highlight, then same again for each highlight.
I have tried importing images into FM which are right-justified and run into paragraph, and I could probably fiddle this just for the PDF using carriage returns but I cannot get a decent RH WebHelp output.
I/m completely inexperienced in trying to produce fancier type of output and until now have only ever had to import screenshots with figure caption with text before and after. If the above is badly explained this is what I would like to see in both PDF and WedHelp

I'll try that. Would I then have to have an image restricted to the size of the Table? At the moment I restrict
the image size in PDF to the width of the page, but allow full-size images in the WebHelp output. I like this
scenario as I think that more people use the html, but from user surveys PDFs are needed for printing out.

Finding text and using it to extract other text

I am trying to use the Acrobat SDK to write a Python script to do the following:
1. Search for a specific piece of text (say, "ABC"). This text is constant and will always be on the first page of the PDF document that I'm processing.
2. Next, I want to select the text that occurs next to ABC. This second text is not always the same, nor is it always of the same length.
3. Once I have select the second piece of text, I want to extract it for subsequent processing in my Python script.
4. Both ABC and the second piece of text occur in the same row of a table.
I have gotten as far as finding ABC using the AVDoc.FindText method, but I am not sure how to proceed to the next step. I would be grateful for suggestions on how to go forward.

You'd probably need to use JavaScript. However, the interface for running JavaScript is specific to VB and you might not be able to interface from other languages. Assuming you can move to VB (or part of the app in VB), you can use PageGetNthWord to retrieve each word in turn from the first page. This has nothing to do with selection, but you will get each word in turn.

Adding RAM and making room/trying to upgrade Mac Mini

I have a 2007 Mac Mini on Tiger and wanted to upgrade to Snow Leopard but even taking the machine down to base with erase and install, it still says the RAM is not enough. Where and how can RAM be added?

your mini has 1GB of memory, with maximum 2GB. SL requires minimum 2GB ram.
If you decide to add ram, use good reputation supplier like Crucial or OWC. Be sure to buy compatible ram.
In OWC sites you find the way how to do it.

Adding text and background to photos?

Is there any way to add text or backgrounds to photo besides in the Book Layout? I am using MpixPro and using ROES to order prints and photo books for clients.

You could write captions directly into image versions as part of the image with the free BorderFX plugin:

Trouble with sending texts and making calls with new Verizon iPhone 4S

A friend of mine just upgraded from a 3G on AT&T to a 4S on Verizon. She sync'd her contacts via iCloud. She is having an issue where if she takes the 1 out of a contact's name from her address book, txts don't send. If she leaves the 1 in, it doesn't recognize the name, and just lists the 1 (201) xxx-xxxx at the top instead. Worse, when making calls, if that contact does not have a 1 before the area code, it tells her her plan isn't set up for international calling and that it can't complete the call. I am on AT&T so I can't help her. My phone has the international assist option, I assume Verizon's does too.
I can edit my phone number on my AT&T phone; it appears she cannot edit hers to either add or delete the 1 before hers.
Surely this is easily fixable -- just thought I'd see if anyone knows what's going on here. Thanks all.

I'm also a Verizon subscriber - have been with Verizon since the summer of 2001 and when my contract renewed last June, I selected the same phone as my free upgrade.
I was looking forward to using the same features with my Mac when I discovered that Verizon purposely disabled these features and I'm not completely sure why but it must involve protecting a potential revenue stream for Verizon.
My existing 2-yr contract with Verizon expires a year from this June and I plan on making the switch to Cingular at that time primarily due to Verizon disabling these bluetooth features but also due to the iPhone. Cingular has excellent coverage in my area - I have a number of friends who are Cingular subscribers that get better reception at my residence than I do and I use my cell phone in place of a land line. The iPhone will have been on the market for a year or so at that time and I expect a new and improved iPhone model to be available by then. And if I decide not to purchase an iPhone, I'm making the switch to Cingular regardless.

How do I stop my texts and pictures from going to other devices with same Apple ID

I share my Apple ID with my son on his Ipad and I phone. how do I stop my photos and messages from automatically going to his devices.

It should be iMessages which are going from device to device, you can turn this off in recipient device. The same sort of thing for Photos, however on your phone/ipad you can turn off 'Photo Stream" which will stop the sending to other devices. You can do this under Settings>Photos & Camera.

Adding Subforms and making savable

I used Action Builder to create a subform that can be repeated by clicking on the "Add Unit" button or removed with another button. Everything works perfectly--except when I open it in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and make it savable through the "Extend Features in Adobe Reader" it automatically adds 3 additional subforms. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Make sure that each of your subforms has a unique name.

If you are using those apps or websites, they are likely viewing the PDF using iOS' built in PDF previewing, which will not show annotations and markup to the PDF. We have informed Apple of this issue, but do not have any insight into whether or when they will fix it.
Regarding the qustion about importing pictures, Adobe Reader does not provide any capabilities to import pictures into a PDF. To do this, you'll need to use Acrobat, available on your desktop computer.

Adding text to indesign pages with specific font ,size,and color using javascript

Using javascript i am able to add some text to each page of an indesign file.
myNewText = "SOME TEXT"
myTextFrame = myPage.textFrames.item(0);
tempframe = myTextFrame.contents;
myTextFrame.contents = myNewText + tempframe ;
But i want to specify the font used,size and color for that text.
When i try the code mentioned in indesign javascript scripting guide
myNewText .appliedFont = app.fonts.item("Times New Roman");
myNewText .fontStyle = "Bold";
nothing gets changed and font family already used stays the same.
How can i do that only for the added text and not for the whole content?I dont want to add the text to a new text frame I want to append it to the existing text frame.
And is there a way to specify font size too?

There's a mixup going on here. Let's see if we can sort out some of it
at least.
If you just want to add new text to an already existing text frame,
that's easy:
myTextFrame.contents += "Hello";
But if you want the new text to have unique formatting, it's a little
more complicated.
There are two simple ways to do it, I think:
1. Create a temporary text frame, as you have done, and add the text,
and format everything in there. Then move() that formatted text to the
end of myTextFrame and delete the temporary frame:
tempFrame = app.activeDocument.textFrames.add();
tempFrame.contents = "New Text";
tempFrame.paragraphs[0].appliedFont = app.fonts.itemByName("Times New
Roman"); // etc...
tempFrame.paragraphs[0].move(myTextFrame.insertionPoints[-1],
LocationOptions.AFTER);
tempFrame.remove();
2. The other option, is to add the text directly to your textFrame. But
if you want to format only that text, you have to store where the text
started:
myTextFrame = app.selection[0];
firstInsertionPoint = myTextFrame.insertionPoints[-1].index;
myTextFrame.contents += "New Text";
myAddedText =
myTextFrame.characters.itemByRange(myTextFrame.insertionPoints[firstInsertionPoint],

What you've done in your sample script, however, is to try to apply a
font to a simple JavaScript string. It won't work, but the way you did
it, it won't throw an error either, because in fact you've created a new
property of your string. (myString = "Hello"; myString.appliedFont =
"Times"; // myString now has a Javascript property called appliedFont --
but that's nothing to do with InDesign!)

What version of Pages are you referring to?
Basically if you are talking about the Table of Contents in Pages and want to have different character styles within paragraphs in the T.O.C. you will have to export the T.O.C. and bring it back in as text and change that.

Added text & signatures do not print correctly

I am using Acrobat Reader v10.4.4 on my iPad Mini with IOS 6.1.2 and am having issues printing. I can open any PDF and have it displayed correctly. I can add text and signatures and the document is saved correctly because it can be opened after the changes are made and they are still there. When I try to print the document where I have added text and signatures to, the document does not print correctly. All of the text and the signature are shrunk to a very small size and appear in the lower left hand of the page.
I depend on my apps to work they way they should and having this issue makes my work very hard. I have to be very creative and perform unnecessary steps to get my PDF's to print the way they should. Does anyone have some insight in to this bug?
