Adding text (editing) while using Adobe on an iPad

Can I make Adobe allow me to edit or add text while doing so on my iPad? I cannot figure it out yet, my laptop is easy to do this with.

You can add or edit Text annotations in Adobe Reader for iOS.
Open a PDF document.
Tap the Comment icon in the top bar.
Tap the Text annotation icon in the bottom bar.
Tap where you want to add text.
Enter text in the popup window.
Tap Save.
A new Text annotation appears in the PDF document. You can tap it to display a context menu to
Edit the text
Change the font size
Change the text color
Delete the text
You can also move the text annotation by tapping it once and dragging it to where you want to move it to.

this happens from time to time and I think in the past I have done a restart to make it stop. it's possible it only happens while using Adobe InDesign CS3 but I have not watched diligently enough to say for sure. the hard disk repeatedly, every 30 seconds or so, spins up and the entire screen reflows, finishing on the finder with open windows all opening in order. everything moves. then I need to go back to InDesign only to have it happen again. I don't necessarilly touch any keys or the mouse. as I type here it has stopped so maybe it really is an InDesign issue. does anybody know what's going on?

thanks so much for the good advice. I used both of these and now the problem has stopped. first I checked the finder crash logs and yes, my finder had been crashing repeatedly.
next I removed the preferences files from the library, rebooted from the CD and ran disk utility to repair preferences. since then my computer has been stable.
there were some preferences that didn't get repaired when I ran disk utility. I am copying them here to refer to later if I need to. I don't understand what these mean to me:

I'm not sure that I follow. You have the Adobe Reader app for iOS, and converting photos to PDF? Where are the photos showing up as JPEG? Do you see the converted PDFs when you look at the Recents List?

This is the same experience I see with both my iPad and iPhone. Doesn't seem to cause battery drain, so I just don't worry about it. My bluetooth devices work and if yours do as well, just don't worry about it.

Form - Can not use the Text Edit Tool in Adobe 9

I was wondering if someone could please assist me, I have created a form but the text editing tool is coming grayed out, how am I able to get this function back?
I simply need to remove one word and am unable to do so. It tells me that some functionality is restricted for extended features and to save a copy. but when i save a copy I am still unable to use the touch up tool.

My guess is that you did use LiveCycle Designer and are not aware of that. Designer is accessed from Acrobat in the forms menu and may have come up even if you were not aware of it. If that is indeed the case, you can only edit the text in Designer.
If it is an AcroForm, then it may be that you have activated Reader Rights or such. To remove Reader Rights, there is a specific procedure to use and unfortunately I do not remember it. If you have Reader Rights activated, indicate that and someone should be by that remembers how to remove the feature so you can edit the document. The removal is not as simple as one would think, but is rather straight forward. It involves saving or such -- I just don't remember and it is not something I am finding in the help menu.

I'm trying to use Adobe Media Encoder (CS3) to output a project to H.264. I have about 3 minutes of footage on the Premier Pro CS3 Timeline, all of it in Cineform AVI intermediate format. When I export the movie through AME and select 2-pass VBR, it gets through the first pass, but crashes at 50% on the second pass with the error:

I'm on a Dell XPS 720 Windows XP (32-bit) system, with all up-to-date service packs and patches. I have 4GB RAM installed, and Production Premium CS3, TMPGEncXPress and Cineform's Neo Scene. Neo Scene is a recent addition and the problem existed prior to its installation. I have two 7900GS graphics cards (each with 256MB video RAM), running in SLI mode.
I dual boot Windows XP: One system is "Messy" with all kinds of stuff installed. The other is "Clean" and has virtually nothing installed, except for the three suites previously mentioned. No anti-virus or anti-spyware software is installed on the Clean system. I get the error on both systems.
I saw the post from September 2007 reference vcredist_x86. I'll be trying that at my next opportunity, however, I'm not sure that will fix it, as I don't see why both systems would suffer from the same corruption. I'll also be swapping out RAM to see if that fixes the issue.

I worked recreated the application by simple reinserting the interactive UI element and binding its dataSource context with a node whose values i need to display in the pdf format and pdfsource bound to attibute of type binary. However, when i deploy, i get the following exception:

The error is: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Error during call to AdobeDocumentServer: Failed to create a Data Manager. Please ensure that the Document Services Data Manager service is running:

However, the Document Services Data Manager service is already running along with IIOP provider.Are there some other things that need to be taken care of?

While using bluetooth wireless on iPad, it stalls and the on screen keyboard comes up.

I just bought my iPad 2 about two weeks ago. Before that I was playing around with my parent's iPad first generation.
For both iPads, I have the same problems while using the same wireless keyboard on both of them.
1. While typing, at random times the wireless keyboard stops responding and the on screen keyboard shows up.
2. While typing, also at random times, the wireless keyboard stops responding and the same alphabet that I last typed in would multiply itself until I either press "command + A" and delete or lock my parent's iPad and iPad 2.
3. While typing, my wireless keyboard stops responding, on screen keyboard shows up, I select my on screen keyboard to hide, continued typing on the wireless keyboard, it stops responding again and my iPad2 restarts in a split second with the black backdrop and apple logo in the middle and goes to lock screen. Then everything is fine.
4. While not typing, on screen keyboard shows up at random times while bluetooth is paired to wireless keyboard and then goes back down, all this while bluetooth icon at the top screen of the iPad2 flashes.
I don't know what is wrong. At first I thought my iPad 2 has a problem but when I remembered the same problems occurred on my parent's iPad first generation, I don't know if it is just my keyboard or the iPad(s) have a problem.
Please help me!

If this is only one specific app, it is a problem with that application's programming.
You can try to reset your iPad by holding down both the Home and Lock buttons for approximately 15 seconds or until the device restarts while ignoring the power slider.

No, flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites have their own apps in the App Store.

Adding text to PDF using iText instead of CFPDF

I know this may seem a bit off topic being posted here but i'm asking this board since i'm a complete JAVA noob and i figure some of you CF folk might have had to do this before.
Anyway, about my question...i'm already adding a watermark image to a pdf using iText (CF8) thanks to the help of fellow poster (=cfSearching=). What i'm looking for is the best way to go about adding some text to this same pdf. I need to add 4 lines of text (with specific font and size) and center it underneath the added image. Does anyone have a site they could point me to as to how to add formatted text and how to get the width of that text so as to align it correctly? I've search Google and looked at a lot of JAVA code but being a JAVA noob it's tough to figure out exactly which libs and methods can be used to do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, the merged image is an idea but i'd rather have it be actual text so that it is at least copy/paste-able if viewed on a computer.
The four lines of text are dynamic (company name, broker name, phone number, email address) and limited to 40 characters. Right now they are being added via CFPDF and DDX and use the following code in the DDX file to add it to the PDF.

The above code resized the image to a certain width/height if needed and adds it to the pdf.
I just figured they might be a way to tap into one of the java objects that would allow adding the text. Ideally, adding the text and image to some sort of 'bounding box' that would allow centering of the image and text in relation to that bounding box. Or if there is no way to add to a bounding box, a way to get the horizontal length of the longest line of text so i could calculate a common centerline for the image and text.
I've attached the following pdf to show how the image and text would look together. This example is not to scale but a similar image and text would be added to a separate pdf.

Verify operation failed and Runtime Error While using Adobe Reader 10.1.2

We have installed Adobe reader 10.1.2 on Windows Servers 2008 and user are accessing its using Citrix.When users open PDF files they are getting message "Verify Operation Failed" and also getting error "Runtime Error"
even on one server we updated the version to 10.1.3 but still they are getting same error.

Can you provide the event viewer log ? Also is the same issue seen while opening PDF in the Citrix Server ? Or it is mainly seen while Citrix Users accessing the published Reader app via Citrix Web URL ?

Text unreadable when using adobe acrobat to print pdf

When printing to a pdf with adobe acrobat professional version 9 all i get is lots of symbols in place of the original text. I have tried printing preview, converting webpage to pdf etc but when converted to a pdf it just displays symbols, however when copying the text and pasting it here for example the text is readable. Is there anyway i can fix this or i have a missed something in the settings of adobe acrobat?

Generally, if you have the fonts on your system, then the fonts should properly display. To embed the fonts on your system, you would again have to have the fonts on your system. It sounds like some fonts are being used that you do not have. You might try downloading the fonts you think might be the problem. Be careful, you have to have the precise font, not one that sounds correct. Even sometimes fonts with the same name are not really compatible. You should be able to select the text touch up tool (new name in AA X) and select some of the text and see what the font name is. Then you know what you should be looking for.

Adding text automatically through use of a button

Hi there,
Apologies if this has been asked before. I am creating a form in which a user creates a cost estimate for work done. This is just done by typing the information into a standard text field. At the end of every cost estimate is a standard piece of text, detailing terms and conditions etc which is the same across all estimates. Rather than have the user have to type this in every time, or go to another document to cut and paste, I thought it might be possible to use a button that when clicked adds this standard text to the end of the currenlty selected text field. Is this possible?

Yes, I thought of that - and that may well work.
But currenlty the amount of original text that is entered before hand is variable, it could be as little as two lines, as many as fifty or more. So it may be that this text needs to be added on the first or second, even third page of the PDF. If my understanding is correct there is no way of linking text boxes across pages (in the way you can in InDesign) so each page will have a separate text box and the onus will be placed on the user to page break their text themselves, meaning that this standard piece of text might need adding to the text box on a different page each time. Agreed, I could add it as default to each page and the user deletes what they don't need but that's a little messy.
