Adding text on element 10

I cannot add text. I followed element 10 chapter 12 instructions but cannot get past first 4 steps. When I try to commit text as per step 5 nothing appens. Anybody has a clue why?

Thank you Curt Y. Although frankly I do not understand what you are trying to tell me.
The problem I'm experiencing is that the commit text procedure does not seem to work and i cannot see the text that appears on the text layer to be reproduced into the face of the picture that I'm trying to text edit. I also tried to follow a tutorial on the subject with the same negative result.

  • Adding text in Elements 10

I opened Elements editor today, and found I could no longer add any text to a new image.
I start Elements, go to the editor, create a new image, then add text, and I cannot see the text at all.  Things I have checked:
    Various fonts
    Various sizes
    Various colors
    Various opacities
    Anti-alias on and off
    Various styles (including none)
I've tried horizontal and vertical text
I've tried setting the background to various colors
Zoom level seems to make no difference
Doesn't matter if I create the new image with white or transparent background
When I try the Horizontal Mask tool, I get a message "No pixels were selected"
The layer names contain the text I typed into the image.
Any idea what could be going on?
    Thanks!

I'd try resetting the type tool:

  • Premiere Elements 7 crashes when clicking/adding text.

First post after being an Adobe user for several years so I can't complain. :-) I purchased Premiere Elements 7 a couple months ago and it has worked very well.
I am now having a problem when attempting to add text. I tried adding text to a new project and get the message, "Adobe Premiere Elements has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I then opened a finished project and clicked the text on the screen and got the same message. So it occurs when trying to add new text or editing existing text. I have tried everything outlined in a post on what to try when you are experiencing problems.

    Sam,
When something works one day, but not the next, I look for what has changed. More often, than not, it's some program updating. Windows is famous for this, but then you can't update Windows, so that might rule it out.
First thing I'd look into would be Restore Points. I always run a Restore in Safe Mode, and when there is a problem, will go quite a ways back, then work up to the present.
If none of this works, then the virus/Trojan problem might loom more likely. Many of these can reside in Restore Points. When removing one, turning the auto Restore function OFF is usually advised. If you can locate such a nasty, then Google it. Chances are good that Norton, or others, will have a step-by-step way to remove it. It also seems that about 60% of all sites try to upload something nowadays, and much of it is not good. If you suspect any sort of infection, run your virus/Trojan sweeps from Safe Mode too. It will be slower, but more likely to uncover some problem. AdAware Search & Destroy offers a free version, and I usually keep it around, though I have many others. It seems to discovery things, that most other programs miss, with few false-positives. Even though I keep Norton, SpySweeper and StopZilla up, except when I am actually editing, and there is no Internet interaction, I'll do a Norton sweep in Safe Mode about once a week, just to be sure. Unfortunately, evil lurks right outside our door and some of it is tough to stop, find and disarm. The most benign sites often have little payloads, that can cause problems, if left "untreated."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Adding Text to a photo...Need help

I'm new to Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. I'm following the instructions for adding text to a photo, but I can't see what I'm typing. I can see the cursur, but nothing else. I can see the text in the Layer, but not on the photo. Please help.

Check the font size in the options bar. If it's really small you won't see it.
Look in your layer's palette and insure your text is in a layer located above the photo in the stack.
You might also check your image's resolution in the Image Size dialog. I've seen a couple of posts where someone changes the resolution to 1 with resample turned off...then can't see the text because it's too small even when they have large numbers inserted in the font size box.

  • Adding text to a photo in iphoto

How do you add text to a smart album photo?  Also, when syncing to my iphone, I want the text to appear.  I am building a tropical plant field guide.

iPhoto has no capability of adding text onto an image.  For that you'll need a 3rd party image editor setup as the  external editor in iPhoto.
Some Image Editors that support  layers:
    Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60

  • Fm-xref adds text to element

    Hello,
I have been using FrameMaker 10 to convert fm files into DITA XML format. Some of my <title> elements contain "conkeyref" variables as the same topic is used in many different products.
When I cross-reference these topics, FrameMaker automatically adds the literal text in the title (including the placeholder text that my variable element uses) after the <xref> tag in my XML. When I generate the output using the DITA OpenToolkit, the cross-references do not update using the variable value, but instead use the literal text that Frame is adding.
For example, this is a line taken from the XML file:
    <p><xref  type = "fm:" href = "dp_about.xml#id11CKI0FK0BI">Documentation Procedures in prodName</xref></p>
prodName is simply the placeholder text used to identify where a variable has been placed. When this is processed by the DITA OpenToolkit, Documentation Procedures in prodName displays in the output.
If I manually remove the automatically added text (as below), the output is generated properly using the defined variable value.
    <p><xref  type = "fm:" href = "dp_about.xml#id11CKI0FK0BI"></xref></p>
Once I open the same XML file in FrameMaker, the cross-reference updates and the over-riding text is added back into the XML. I know that I can turn off the Auto-Load Xrefs On File Open option, but this does not help when adding a new cross-reference. This additional text is very troublesome and manually removing it from every XML file using a text editor is not an option (I currently have over 900 files in the document).
This problem also occurs if I change the title of one topic. The existing cross-references do not update to include the new title name when they are processed by the OpenToolkit.
How can I force FrameMaker to not add this text when a cross-reference is added to the XML?
    Thanks

    Hi Mike,
Please find the settings file located at %FRAMEMAKER_INSTALLED_DIR%/fminit/ditafm/ditafm.ini.
In this file, locate the setting named "WriteLinkTextToFmXrefs" in the section "GeneralExport". Its default value is 1. Change this to 0 to achieve the desired behavior.
    Regards,
    Saurabh

  • Adding text to photo

I would like to add text to photos - that is have the text appear on the photo itself. Can I do this with iphoto?
    Thanks, M.

Not easily with iPhoto only, but Martin S. has directions for doing so here:
    http://simnet.is/klipklap/iphoto/adding-text/
Rather easier is to use an external editor for the job: starting with free and working up:
    Seashore
    Graphic Coverter
    Acorn
    Photoshop Elements
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
    Regards
    TD

  • I saved a PDF doc in adobe and then added text to the form. But every time I try an email it it only

I saved a PDF doc in adobe and then added text to the form. But every time I try an email it it only sends the original form without text. Once I've changed a doc in Adobe, how can I save it so that I'm able to use it with added text and notes? Also, I'm using a new iPad.

If you are using those apps or websites, they are likely viewing the PDF using iOS' built in PDF previewing, which will not show annotations and markup to the PDF. We have informed Apple of this issue, but do not have any insight into whether or when they will fix it.
Regarding the qustion about importing pictures, Adobe Reader does not provide any capabilities to import pictures into a PDF. To do this, you'll need to use Acrobat, available on your desktop computer.

  • How can I remove the underline from added text for tracing edits

We have a lot of content that includes underscores and when we use the track text edit feature added text is green and underlined. How can I change the properties of the added text to not be underlined?

Starting with FM11, you could specify a custom colour to be used for track changes, but the styles (underline, strikethrough) are still hardwired.
Even if you try to make the changes to the rack text edit conditions in a MIF file, they will get overwritten as the MIF is interpreted when opened by FM.

This occurs whether there is a text box to be filled in or using the add text function. There may be other things also crashing it but this is the biggest issue for me on my Mac host system. If I open the same documents in a Windows VM using Reader, I can enter text without difficulty.

I'm having a similar issue. Every third or fourth time I save after adding text Acrobat crashes with no meaningful reason (at least none in the crash message)...even though the added text is saved. I'm working through trying different text settings to see if there is a problem there. I'll post what I find.

  • Unable to print added text only in Acrobat Pro XI

User is trying to print added text that's been added to an existing PDF page.  In Acrobat X she chose "Form fields only" under Comments & Forms from the Print menu.  In XI it produces a blank page.  The added text only shows up if she chooses Document or Document and Markups, but then she gets the entire document.  She only wants the added text to print.

Thanks to all who commented here.  I found that adding text using Tools>Content Editing>Add Text will not allow the user to print solely the added text.  As everyone responded here, that's as designed.  However, using Comment>Annotations>Add Text does allow the user to print solely the added text as she was used to doing in Acrobat X.  I thought it was the same tool under two different headings, but obviously they interact differently in the print menu.  Choosing Form fields only from the Print Menu's Comments & Forms panel will produce solely the text added under the Comment panel's Add Text tool without printing the rest of the document page.  And the user doesn't have to turn the document into a form to do so.

  • Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?

Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?
I use the Tools > Annotate > Add Text feature, and when I click away after adding text, it automatically changes the text box size such that the last letter -- or last word -- gets bumped off into an invisible line below it, forcing me to manually adjust every single text box. It is highly annoying when trying to complete PDF forms (e.g. job applications).
It appears to be a glitch, quite honestly, an error resulting from Apple's product design. Has it been fixed in the new operating system (for which they want $30)?
I would very much appreciate any help you can provide! Thank you for your time.
