Adding text to a  photo book

I am trying to add a caption to my photos in a book I am creating in iphoto
The format I am using allows this
However -
As I type my caption the text is appearing too small to even read I am unable to change the size of the font
Even a 1 word comment results in the error message "this text does not fit the text box"
Help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The text size is designed to be readable when the book is printed. To get a better view of it move the slider at the bottom to the right to increase the page size in the window.
What theme and layout are you referring to exactly?

  • Adding Text to a photo...Need help

I'm new to Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. I'm following the instructions for adding text to a photo, but I can't see what I'm typing. I can see the cursur, but nothing else. I can see the text in the Layer, but not on the photo. Please help.

Check the font size in the options bar. If it's really small you won't see it.
Look in your layer's palette and insure your text is in a layer located above the photo in the stack.
You might also check your image's resolution in the Image Size dialog. I've seen a couple of posts where someone changes the resolution to 1 with resample turned off...then can't see the text because it's too small even when they have large numbers inserted in the font size box.

    Hi DG.
The easiest way to copy an HP Photo Creations project to another computer is to click the Share button. That will upload the project to the Web and give you a link you can paste into an email. Clicking the link on the other computer allows you to download the project and personalize it. This quick video shows the process. (The screen looks slightly different now, but the concept is the same.)
Another way to share a project is copy the project folder to a thumb drive. Look in Documents/HP Photo Creations/My Things to find your saved projects.
Our customer support team would be happy to walk you through the process. Contact them at [email protected]
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I fix the text in my photo book that reads"your default text had not been edited. Printed books will not include this text?"

How can I fix the text in my photo book that reads"your default text had not been edited. Printed books will not include this text?"

You will get this warning, if your book includes textboxes that still include the default text, like "Insert Title". You need to find these boxes and add your own text.  Look for boxes like this:
Make a PDF-preview of your book and look, where the preview differs from what you are seeing in iPhoto.
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture

  • I'm adding text to a photo.. Trying to get an S to lay down

I'm adding text to a photo and can't get an S to lay down?

I'm guessing on what you are trying to do, to some extent, but see if this helps.  Your photograph will have a horizon, and perspective.  For instance, if there are any buildings in the image, lines drawn through the top and bottom edges of the building, and extended to the horizon, will always intersect at the same point.  If you lay down some guides as shown in this illustration, and overlay some perspective lines with a 1 pixel line, then use the resulting box to Free transform the letter S to.
It is _much_ easier if you Rasterize the text layer, because that will cause the Free Transform bounding box and handles, to fit tightly around the text.  Otherwise the bounding box will be larger than the text to include descenders and risers for the font used.
So with guides and guide lines in place, and the text rasterized, use Free Transform, and hold down the Ctrl (Cmd) key will dragging the corner handles to the intersect points.
In the illustration I have made a nice simple concentric perspective, but that probably won't be the case in your image.  But if you use clues from the image, you will be able to work out its true perspective.  In fact I rarely resort to using guides, and just do it by eye.
A little tip when doing this is to make the object a Smart Object before using Free Transform.  The reason is if you decide to tweak the perspective and use FT a second time, with an SO layer the handles will still be in the corners.  A normal layer will now have the FT handles square to the document edges, which makes it much more difficult to refine the shape.
BTW  Thanks for asking a proper, interesting, question about using Photoshop, as opposed to the usual 'My dog has eaten my serial number' posts.

  • How do you put text into a photo book?

I am new to Photoshop Elements, using Elements 11, and my first project is to make a photo book for a recent trip.  I have figured out importing the pictures and titles.  I want to include a 3000 word story on 3 or 4 pages.  I have spent hours trying to do this.  I thought I would be able to easily copy and paste from Word but that isn't working for me.  I have retyping the whole thing in "Your Text Here".  I can't seem to make it work.  Pane sizing is an issue.  Editing after I have typed several paragraphs.  I am about to give up.  I can't locate any tutorials etc on how to do this.  I bought Elements 11 for Dummys and they might as well have skipped photo books.  It was useless.  Can someone give me some guidance please?

Try creating a new page template in expert mode.
File >> New >> Blank File
Select your page size height and width and background color and use 300 ppi for printing.
Then select the T tool, click top left, and copy and paste your text.
Save as jpeg and add it to your book as an image and use the bounding box to scale/re-size.
Note you may have to click inside the text area and add the carriage return as it’s not easy to justify text in elements.
I would suggest you first save as PSD that will preserve the text layer as a separate layer. You can then re-open the PSD file at any time e.g. if you decide to edit any of the text. Treat it as your master file and use it to save a fresh jpeg whenever needed.

  • Adding text to a photo in iPhoto 08

New to Mac and iPhoto and while laying out a birth announcmnet I wanted to add text on top f the phots to places the Apple card templates didn't allow. Is there a way to add text to a photo in iPhoto? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can't with iPhoto. You'll need a 3rd party editor like Photoshop Elements for Mac which can add text in a variety of ways and do advanced editing. PSE is the consumer version of the pro Photoshop and has about 80% of it's capabilities at 1/7 the price. There are other editors available that can do the job. Go to VersionTracker.com and search for image editor. You'll get a number of possibilities.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Adding text to a photo

i'm currently trying to make a simple cd cover using iPhoto to add to itunes. Is there any way i could add text to a photo that i have in the iPhoto library?

The Preview method puts the text in a box with a yellow background. If that's not what you want, I suggest you look at a number of 3rd party image editor. The best, IMO, is Photoshop Elements for Mac. It not only can do text on photos, it can curve the text and do other advanced editing. Amazon.com often has deals on it for around $80.
There's also GraphicConverter and others. Go to VersionTracker.com and do a search for "image editor" to get a number of candidates.

  • Adding text to a photo in iphoto

How do you add text to a smart album photo?  Also, when syncing to my iphone, I want the text to appear.  I am building a tropical plant field guide.

iPhoto has no capability of adding text onto an image.  For that you'll need a 3rd party image editor setup as the  external editor in iPhoto.
Some Image Editors that support  layers:
    Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    Portraits and Prints - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free

  • Does Added Text Resolution Match Photo Resolution

I am adding text to some screen grabs from an old 8mm movie.  The movie resolution is not very high.  When I add text to the screen shots, they are very low resolution.
I am assuming that the text resolution is simply matching that of the screen grab.  Is there anyway to set the text resolution different from that of the photo from the screen capture?

I will piggy back on this discussion.  I have discovered that, although the image resolution is inconsequential when sizing images by pixel dimensions, it still matters if you decide to add copyright information with the type tool.
e.g. I have received images from several people, all sized to 1024 pixels in width, but I wanted to add their names to the front of the images before putting the images into a slideshow.  I quickly discovered that, although the images are of identical size when viewed, the names applied vary in size according to the resolution of the image.
Since different makes of cameras assign a different resolution to images taken with that camera, I needed to change the resolution of the images to all be the same before I could add names that appear as the same size.  This came as a surprise to me.

  • Adding Text to Your Photo

I am trying to add text onto my photo but can not find the function. Is this allowable?

And Martin S has come up with a way to do this using iPhoto as a work around - see http://simnet.is/klipklap/iphoto/adding-text/
Hi Larry, I was following your step by step guide for adding text to iphoto.
Sorry - as I said Martin S developed and posted this workflow - I only reported it - I personally have never used it - I do know that some others have used it successfully
Also any of the photo editors on the web page I referenced in my original post will add text

  • Adding Text over a Photo in a Movie

First, is this possible? Can I actually add credits over a photo added from IPhoto to a movie in IMovie 5?
I am having a problem adding a title (credits) over a photo I have added to the end of a movie. I unclick "over black" and type in the text to scroll over the photo, and when I try to drag the "T" onto the photo, a black clip appears, and the text goes over that. I look up, and the "over black" box is checked again. I did lengthen the time of the photo, but that hasn't made a difference.
The text has appeared over the wrong clip at times, too.
I'm sure I'm missing something somewhere. Help!

Another thing to consider if your photo is a still frame, not using KB effect:
If you are ok with the title appearing just a few seconds after the start of the photo, use the "Split video at playhead" to split the photo just where you want the title to begin, and place it there. Just be sure that the length of the photo clip and the title are the same. You can lengthen the photo clip after the split if you need to.
This is great to do if you have used a transition before the photo, because you don't have to delete the transition. I have split a photo that had transitions on either side, lengthened the middle photo clip and added a title to that. Worked great!

  • Adding Text Effects to Photos in iMovie 09

I am making a movie in iMovie 09 from photos. I have 940 pictures with lead in effects and text over the pictures. I have not added music yet and am about half way through the 940 photos and iMovie will not allow me to add text to any more pictures. Is their a limit on how many pictures can be in the show? the movie is currently 1 hr and 10 minutes long. Possibly their is a time limit? Any suggestions are welcome.....

    blakespot,
Make sure you click in the margin away from the main text body to avoid accidentally pasting or creating the text box inline.
You can also select the text box and go:
    +Inspector > Wrap (3rd tab) > Object Placement > Floating+
To make the picture and caption stick together, select both:
    +Menu > Arrange > Group+
