Adding text to an image in PS CS2
I can add type to an image in Photoshop 7 running on Windows XP but on another PC with PS CS2 on Windows 7, the text appears in a straight line, off set from the canvas and you can just see it as faint text. What am I doing wrong?
Could you please post a screenshot with the Type Layer and the Type Tool selected and the pertinent Panels (Options Bar, Layers Panel, …) visible?

Is there a way to add text or a mark to an image directly from the browser in Aperture as easily as it can be done in Photoshop? So far, the only way I've been able to do it is by "editing" the image in Photoshop, which is just not practical. I'm editing several thousand photos for a book and am creating "contact sheets" from the negatives and I'd like to mark some of them for further editing. Neither rating nor flags do it since the contact sheet is "the" image for Aperture. Any ideas would be VERY welcome. TIA
Marcelo MontealegreHave you tried printing metadata along with your images?
Aperture is just a giant database in which each record has an image. It is possible to export (and print) almost any combination of image and metadata.
If I have mis-understood your needs, please clarify (it isn't actually plain to me what you are trying to do). -
Adding text to a photo in iphoto
How do you add text to a smart album photo? Also, when syncing to my iphone, I want the text to appear. I am building a tropical plant field guide.
iPhoto has no capability of adding text onto an image. For that you'll need a 3rd party image editor setup as the external editor in iPhoto.
Some Image Editors that support layers:
Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79
Rainbow Painter - $30
Imagerie - $38
Acorn - $50
Pixelmator - $60
Seashore - Free
Portraits and Prints - Free
GIMP for Mac - Free

Can anyone help me out on adding text to an image. I have followed the instructions in both books and videos on how to add text (using the text tool) and when I get to the point of typing text in, it doesn't go 'in'. The box that I assume it should show up in just stares at me - blank. What am I missing?
David,
Also, there are basically two types of Text: Paragraph Text, where you first drag a Text Box, and what I'll call "Open Text," 'cause I'm having a brain cramp and cannot come up with the proper syntax. There are some differences in the behavior of the two. The manual (do they still ship those, or is F1 the only recourse nowadays?), should make the distinctions clear.
Also, when Text does not behave, as you think it should, look at your Layers Palette. Since about version 5, PS creates a Text Layer, when you start using the Text Tool. Make sure that you are in the correct Layer. If it doesn't seem to be working still, Dbl-click the icon with the T in the correct Layer. You should see your Text selected/highlighted. With the Text Tool, you can edit, or add to from there. This gets you on the correct Layer. If you first just click with the Text Tool, you are most likely creating a new Text Layer, which is not what you want, if you intend to edit, or add to existing Text. Always keep the Layers Palette open and in view. When things don't work, check to see just which Layer is active. That is NOT just for Text, but for almost everything in PS.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes. I also like the "Classroom in a Book" series from Adobe Press. They step you though many aspects of PS in little "projects." They are fun, expose you to things that you might not find for a bit, and are highly informative.

Hello,

Adding Text to a Slideshow of images....
Hi,
I am still on iDVD 4.0.1 so could somebody please answer a couple of, hopefully, easy questions to help make my mind up about whether I should opt to buy the new iLife package (currently on version 06).
I have created a slideshow and want to add text to each of the photographs, it is a family album so I want to add different text to each individual photo i.e. Auntie Marge 1964 etc....There doesn't seem to be a way of doing this in this version?
I have burnt my first project to DVD but when I view it on the TV I am getting a warping effect on a number of images in the slideshow, any ideas why?
So in conclusion, is it worth my while upgrading to the new iLife06 and will it include either a fix or a new feature that will help in the above queries?
Thanks,
Will.Hello Will,
The best way to do what you want to do is to use iPhoto to create a slideshow, expanding the image viewing time to 5 seconds + for each image with or without Ken Burns and export it to Quicktime. Then import the Quicktime movie into iMovie. Next step is to split the clip at the playhead of each individual image and add a title with the 'over black' deselected. The subtitle option works well for this. It takes a bit of time to do, but there really is no quick way to do what you want to do. There are various plugins for iMovie as well and some do allow you to put text over batches of images, although I would guess you want to put different text over each image. I have done it a few times and it does come up really well. You can't do it with an iDVD slideshow. -
Adding Text or Images to Footer
I was wondering how I could add some text to the bottom of my page, where there is the usual Apple logo and "Made on a Mac." I can't drag text there, but maybe I could if it was actually a transparent picture? Anyways, I'd like to add contact info, to the bottom right corner, in the same color as the Made on a Mac logo is. Could anyone out there point to me either how to do this on my own mac (without photoshop or other image programs) with text, or to maybe create something for me that's actually an image (and therefore spam-free) of:

Just really something to put in the footer because it's pretty bare on a rather heavy site:

Adding Text to a pre-defined Image
I have an Image that is within a JInternalFrame and I am wanting to add text on top of the Image. I have tried using the getGraphics().drawString() method, however this requires that the image in question have been created with the create(w,h) constructor, where as my image is created using an MemoryImageSource.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could add text to a predefined Image? Perhaps using some sort of transparent Pane/Panel may work?
Cheers
JHere's the code I used to solve my problem, for those that may be interested.
BufferedImage bf = new BufferedImage(imageWidth,imageHeight,
BufferedImage.TYPE_3BYTE_BGR);
G = bf.createGraphics();
G.drawImage(getImage(),0,0,null); //Get the original Image
G.setColor(Color.red);
//Draw a rectangle surrounding the object
G.drawRect((od.getBBLeft()-1),(od.getBBTop()-1),
(od.getObjectWidth()+2),(od.getObjectHeight()+2));
//Add the object text to the image
G.drawString(text,(od.getBBLeft()-1),(od.getBBBottom()+20));
getPixels(bf);
image.flush(); //Clear the presently displayed images chache
setImage(bf); //Define the new image for the JInternalFrame
repaint(); //Call the repaint methods for this JInternalFrame
Cheers

I have various images inside an .indd file I used the rectangle frame tool , sized then placed images inside. I now need to have captions ( text )underneath the images within the rectangled box. I can't seem to get the text in there which tells me there is a differnt procedure to do thi.
Any help?
RYou can't have text and images in the same frame without first grouping
them and then copy/pasting them into another frame. You now need to turn
off the text wrap on the image or the caption won't show up.

How do I add text to an image?
I have purchased a template and imported it to Photoshop. I then sliced the template into sections, saved it for web and opened the index file in dreamweaver. My questions is, how do I add text to the images? I want to add the text content, within the boxes on the template, but because they are exported as images from Photshop I can't seem to do it...So let's say there is a box in the middle of the template and I want it to say, Services at the top and below that have a little information about the services offered with a "read more" button at the bottom. I have exported the template out of photoshop with text added and with the boxes empty. I tried to add the text in dreamweaver but couldn't. When I export the sliced template out of photoshop with the text already included, it does show up in Dreamweaver, however it is not in html and I would like it to be for SEO purposes. Forgive me if this question is silly or already answered, I have looked everywhere and couldn't find the answer.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.Hi,
I prefer to use tables for that. For example (First of all you have to store this new file):
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>AddedText</title>
</head>
<body>
<table width="40%" border="4">
<tr>
<td>Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center" valign="top"><div align="center"><img src="yourPicture.jpg" alt="image 01" width="127" height="33" /></div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text </td>
</tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>
Here I took a table with only one column, you can modify my choice.
There is so too a possibility to use a complete flow text around a picture. If you like that, please give me a shout.

Adding Text to a photo...Need help
I'm new to Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. I'm following the instructions for adding text to a photo, but I can't see what I'm typing. I can see the cursur, but nothing else. I can see the text in the Layer, but not on the photo. Please help.
Check the font size in the options bar. If it's really small you won't see it.
Look in your layer's palette and insure your text is in a layer located above the photo in the stack.
You might also check your image's resolution in the Image Size dialog. I've seen a couple of posts where someone changes the resolution to 1 with resample turned off...then can't see the text because it's too small even when they have large numbers inserted in the font size box. -
Why does Aperture crash when importing modified image into Photoshop CS2?
I have been using Aperture 2.1.4 for the past 2 years and really like the interface. But, I've had one nagging problem: I begin by scanning all of my slides with the Nikon Coolscan 4000 and save them as large tiff files @ approx. 55mb each. I then import each slide with a custom color profile into Aperture. I then optimize the image including white balance, levels, and color adjustments. When I want to make additional changes that I'm not able to do in Aperture, I attempt to send the image to Photoshop CS2 for further processing. But, at this point, Aperture crashes. After this, I get a message saying "do you want to re-open Aperture or quit?" Additionally, I often get the message "Aperture has applied new settings. Do want to keep these new settings or use the original settings?" Since I don't know what will happen if I choose "use the new settings," I always select "keep the original settings." And, when I open Aperture again and try, again, to send the image to Photoshop CS2 to edit, Aperture crashes again. Has anyone had the same or similar problem who can give me some ideas of how to solve this issue! Thanks.
Welcome to the forums!
It sounds like there may be a permissions issue between the two apps, Aperture using one and PS another.
1. Are you logged in as an administrator?
You need to be.
2. Where is your library stored, is it in the picture folder of your user directory?
If so moving it in to the general area of your MacHD may help get over some of these issues.
3. Have you run any of the Ap First Aid steps? Have a read of this page;
Ap2
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2945
Ap3
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
4. Is it possible that the upgrade to Ap3 would get you around the need to jump into PS?
Start with these ones and then come back letting us know how you go.

Help with adding text please.
Hi- Im new to the forum and even newer to Dreamweaver.
Ive just started putting a site together using a youtube
tutorial which has gone really well. Ive designed my layout in
photoshop, then put it into imageready to edit/slice, saved as
html- then opened with dreamweaver. I found it easy this way, and
rollovers can be made within the html file in image ready.
Anyway- heres where the problems started- Im trying to add
text over on image. The tutorial I went off said to cut the image
from the Src then paste it into the Bg field so that you can type
over it- but it goes nuts! When you enter at the end of text lines
the image begins to repeat itself underneath and white blocks show
up at the side of the image!?
Is there a way to just easily type over on image- i tried
doing this in image ready which works, but saves the text as an
image, but I want the text the be recognised by google- Im
confused- please help.
I was reading about tables and adding the image as a table
background- but positioning the table in the correct place is
confusing too- told you i was a newbie!
Thanks in advance for any help!
ClaireUniversal wisdom, except of course, at this NG. :-)

I would like to set up a tooltip popup that displays alternate text on an image rollover. I am using Dreamweaver CC. Used to be a Spry widget, but those options seem to be gone. Not looking for anything elaborate, just a simple tooltip message box.
Hi Daylilybud,
If you are looking for a tool tip on hovering over the image, try adding attribute -> title="Your text" inside your image tag.
For example <img src="" alt="" title="Test"> .
See if this resolves your problem. -
I would like to add text to photos - that is have the text appear on the photo itself. Can I do this with iphoto?
Thanks, M.Not easily with iPhoto only, but Martin S. has directions for doing so here:
http://simnet.is/klipklap/iphoto/adding-text/
Rather easier is to use an external editor for the job: starting with free and working up:
Seashore
Graphic Coverter
Acorn
Photoshop Elements
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
