In safari, the upright side, you can see an arrow icon which is beside of a book icon, touch it and you can see "add bookmark" function in the first row. If you want to see your bookmark, the book icon is the bookmarks you saved.

I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks. Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't help. The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.

Also, I have noticed that every once in awhile you can not close tabs you've opened, either by pushing on the X button and/or clicking on the mouse to close it. Although closing the window and opening it again (without closing the Firefox application) seemed to rectify the problem in the short term, it's becoming quite annoying.

I think I have a solution.
First, download the add-on SQManager. This should be included with FireFox, it is really good.
Look for the file '''moz_hosts''' in the folder '''places.sqlite'''.
Don't delete the file, just delete the information in the file. My file has over 3600 websites, which go back years!! I did not know they were there, but I was frustrated about not being able to get rid of them. They popped up every time I used the address bar. Clearing my history would not get rid of them.
This is where they are stored!! I found that by deleting the pesky web site from '''moz_hosts''', it does not appear in my address bar anymore!!!
I think that if I just delete all the websites in moz_hosts....

As long as you don't delete the file, just empty it, FireFox won't know the difference. It will just keep adding websites to it until you empty it again.
Why running "clear recent history" doesn't do this, I don't know. You are doing manually what "clear recent history" is not doing.
Please tell me if you see any flaw in this.

Installed Firefox 4 on Mac OS X 10.6.7. (1) How can I delete icons it added to bookmarks toolbar so they'll all fit again? (2) Where is the Organize Bookmarks tool now?

Don't know what details you might want.

I'm not sure about the 'icons' added to bookmarks toolbars, but you can control your bookmarks using "Show All Bookmarks". That replaced 'Organize Bookmarks'. It will open the bookmark library & you should be able to rearrange, add, delete, etc from here.

Merging PDF files - Each file name to be added as bookmark

Hi,
Assume i have pdf file with file names as follows
Intrduction.pdf
Lesson1.pdf
Lesson2.pdf
Lesson3.pdf
After Merging in to a single pdf file i want the file names to be added as bookmark and when i click the
a. Lesson1 bookmark it should go to the Lesson1 first page
b. Lesson2 bookmark it should go to the Lesson2 first page
Please let me know how to achieve this.

Combine the files as usual via File - Create - Combine files into a Single PDF, just click on the Options button in that window and make sure that the "Always add bookmarks" box is ticked.

hello scarsman, i think by default all bookmarks are sorted by their creation date - however you can right-click each folder and choose to sort all currently available entries by name. in the bookmark library you can click on any column (name, tag, last visit date, visit count, date added, etc...) to sort them as you want...

Adding new bookmarks in Safari

Whenever I add a bookmark to the "bookmarks bar" folder it always adds the website to the top of the list, which ruins the order in which my "hot keys" (command + 1, command + 2, ect. ect.) While this is a very quick fix of just dragging the newly added website to the bottom of the list, is there anything I could enter into terminal which would just automatically add the websites to the bottom of the list? This is just a minor inconvenience which logically seems like a quick fix. Any help would be great

Adding a Bookmark into a Page Layout document

I cannot insert a bookmark into a Page Layout doc? Only a word processing doc? Garsh that doesn't seem right at all. But the bookmark Plus button and the Insert Menu option are grayed out unless I create a word proc doc - nope I need a layout doc. Help.
Can't search yet - due to site maintenance.

I disagree that the word processing mode was added in iWork '08/Pages 3. Pages 1 & 2 had the default text layer as does the word processing mode. In every way it continues to function just as the single mode available in the prior versions. When page layout mode was added that default text layer was removed requiring the user to put in some type of object - text box, graphic, table, etc. - before text could be entered.
I think of page layout more like AppleWorks' draw, it's a blank slate. Pages' word processing is like AppleWorks word processing in that you can switch to an object mode & place text boxes, etc. as floating or place them inline. I think the Pages programmers added the mode because there were so many posts/complaints with users not understanding that the text layer was always there.

Word 2010 to pdf in Acrobat X under Win 7 64: numbers and letters added to bookmarks

In some documents I convert, the bookmarks are prefixed with what appear to be 'internal' codes like 99B; in others -- based on the same template, and with the same formatting -- the bookmarks are created appropriately. It's clearly a Word 2010/Acrobat X interaction, but I cannot pin down the source of the problem. I've copy/pasted text from an offending .doc file into a fresh file, based on a different template, without success. Any advice will be gratefully received.

There is nothing to activate the AcroTray.
Most if not all are running 32-bit.
Are you talking about the coping the whole 'Abobe PDF' directory in the All Users.

Adding a bookmark in Safari ios7?

I cannot add a bookmark in Safari. I updated to iOS 7.0.2 a week ago. When I try to use the bookmark button (box with an upward arrow) Safari freezes and I have to close it. I looked at settings for software and it said I am up to date. All of my existing bookmarks are there, but I cannot add any new ones. I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. Now close Safari.
To close an app - Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to Safari and then swipe "up" on the Safari thumbnail to close it. Now reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Now see if you can add bookmarks without Safari freezing.

Adding chapters/bookmarks to audiobooks

How do I add chapters and bookmark my audiobook? Right now, its one huge file of 10 hours long. I want to break it up into chapters, so its easier to navigate. Any ideas?

Adding a bookmark does not save the bookmark if you press cancel

When i click
bookmarks -> bookmark this page
It comes up with a popup saying "Page Bookmarked". Naturally, I hardly ever want to change the name of my bookmarked items so I click cancel. My bookmark is gone. Either it is getting deleted when i press cancel to the annoying popup that comes up, or its not getting saved in the first place.
I consider this a HCI bug. If you want to argue that this is the correct functionality that you would expect, I must disagree. Bookmarking has always been a single click procedure and I'm not sure why pressing "cancel" would mean the bookmark is not stored. I have lost countless bookmarks from pages that I have thought were bookmarked but then when I tried to access them the next day, they were gone.

Hi Cor-el. Thanks for the tip. I agree with everything else you have said. It is good to have the functionality for accidental bookmarking.
However, my quarm is with the text "Page Bookmarked". Essentially what you have said means that it is actually a lie. It hasnt been bookmarked at all until I press confirm. Perhaps you should change the text that pops up since it is quite misleading. Perhaps "Bookmark Page" or "Page Bookmark" would suit it better. The extra "ed" means that it's actually referring to the verb and not the noun which is why it confuses me.
I know it is a small thing, but it has annoyed me enough times to be bothered to sign up to these forums and ask the question.

Adding old bookmarks to my current ones?

Hi all,
I bought a new PC abroad whilst travelling this year and used it for a good 6 months. Now I'm back home, I want to move all of the bookmarks I had on my old laptop onto my new one.
However, I don't want to lose the new ones I've created, so I'm worried about simply syncing, in case the new files are overwritten. Will this happen? Or is there another way? Am I better off just doing it manually?
Any help here is much appreciated! :)

I've been looking all over for how to create a bookmarking link for IE7 using Flash CS4 Action Script 3.
I'm creating the button using the following code:

I published the SWF and the Index.html file, then accessed that .html file from my web server, but no luck.
Any ideas on how to do this?

you should really use a javascript function that tests for, at least, some common browser types. and, you should use the externalinterface class to call that javascript function. so, for example:

Adding a bookmark in Designer

Is it possible to place a bookmark using designer so that when a user opens the PDF file they will be able to navigate a large form more easily. Or, do I have to open the form in Acrobat Pro and add them manually?

This can be done - I've just finished a large form where I implemented Bookmarks for various sections of the form. You need to use Acrobat JavaScript - and the Bookmark object in that.
Here is a small fragment of code that may be helpful.

When adding a bookmark the location menu does not appear.

Firefox 10.0.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 - when I add a bookmark the secondary menu (which allows you to choose the location) does not appear. The bookmark is created in the main bookmark "folder". I can manage the bookmark after it is created but this is not very efficient.
Any ideas how to correct this? Thanks in advance.
