Adding to own site

Hi - I love iWeb, and want to use it for a blog on my own site - www.nigelsecostore.com - rather than hosting at .mac. It seems easy enough to do, but the options that get lost ie adding comments and searching, seem pretty fundamental.
Anyone know if Apple are planning to update iWeb to allow these functions on non .mac servers?

You could sign up for google adsense and get search for your site. It will then search everything, including blogs. I've got it for my site if you'd like to see how it integrates with the rest of the site.

Issue with Webparts while adding in Project Site

Hi
I am getting an error while adding web parts in project site page 2010. Below the steps
Open project site --> site actions --> edit page --> click on Add webpart --> ProjectWebApp --> Project fields --> Add
Please try and let me know is this possible or not

The Project Fields webpart is ties to the PWA context, and cannot be added to Project Site.
There used to be a solution starter called Project Workspace Custom Fields webpart. You might want find and use that
An alternative is to develop your own SSRS report and display it in webpart..

Prevent Safari 5.1 from adding to Top Sites

Has anyone figured out a way to prevent Safari 5.1 from adding to Top Sites every time one looks at a webpage? I have used Macs for 20 years and love them, EXCEPT that Apple doesn't give much control to the user.

If, for some reason, you want to completely disable the Top Sites feature, use the following Terminal command copy and paste:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari5IncludeTopSites -bool FALSE
Repeating with TRUE at the end will enable Top Sites again.
I have not tested this, but you can try it, and report back on your success or failure.
Clear cache, clear history, reset and relaunch Safari.
Of course there all alternatives if this command does not work. See this thread:

Welcome to the forum.
Create a new folder and name it after your site. From the file menu in iWeb, choose File/Publish to a Folder.... Select the folder you have named for your site, and click choose. iWeb will publish two things to that folder: a Site Folder, which contains your site, and an index.html file which you will need for your Site direction on the web. You will upload both of these, as they are from iWeb, to your server using an ftp client. A lot of us here like Transmit. Do not take apart the Site folder; upload it whole--as it is from iWeb.
Additional tips can be found here. It's fairly easy to do; post back if you run into difficulties and everyone here will help out.

Hosting My Own Site

I don't know if this is even the right place to post this or not. A couple of years ago, I tried, in my worst way to configure my G4 to be a server, because I wanted to host my own site, but never got it to work. First, I found out that the cable/DSL has to have a static address and would have to be reconfigured and if I remember correctly, that would require changing the port number on it, in order to get traffic coming through. Well, not everyone in my household, who is on the network, was crazy about that idea, plus the fact that I'm not the administrator. So, now I'm wanting to try it with AOL dialup. I even talked with a guy who has his own radio program, who answers questions and helps callers out with computer problems. I was told by him, right there on the air, that setting up a server from your computer wasn't a very smart thing to do, because just about anyone could go in and hack your computer. I was able to set up the server locally and for others to see, only if they had macintosh computers, but this is not enough for me, as I want the whole world to see my site. Now I'm ready to give it another try. Does anyone know of a site or of a manual that tells how to setup a Macintosh computer as a server, that is easily understood? All the instructions that I've found, seem to be geared at PCs only. Any insight or info, will be very much appreciated! TIA

By "PC", I simply meant your personal computer, (not necessarily a windows machine), which would contain sensitive data.
I meant to imply that a webserver should be a dedicated machine for that purpose, and that purpose only. Myriad of reasons why. >>

I really am sick of this and need an answer as to why this is happeing and how to fix it. It can be bookmarks, or we addresses from emails, etc. It even does it on this site. It won't let me log in...

How can we try to help you when you haven't given us any pertinent information about your problem?
Which version of Firefox? Do you have any addons installed? <br />
Which websites are causing that problem for you?
What firewall program or security suite are you using?
Right now, all we know is that you are frustrated and unhappy with Firefox, and that you have WinXP as your operating system.

Publishing to your own site

Hi I work for a chariy that holds a lot of sensitive data therefore most sites that can upload or download files are blocked. I want to get a DPS online and distributed... is there anyway of getting this downloadable from our own site?

You can embedd Web Viewer in you website, however the content would be hosted on Adobe Servers. Currently is is not possible to export the Folio as HTML.

When adding a web site I want keychain access to manage, it truncates the URL I paste in. Is there a fix for this?

You can try to use "Forget About This Site" in the History (right-click context menu in Library or sidebar) to remove all data from a website including possible exceptions.

Publish Calendar to My Own Site (with ftp)

Is there a way to publish an iCal calendar to my own site (with ftp login)?

OK, I just tried using the publish option to my own server and used my ftp login. Everything seemed to work fine, except, when I go to my site where the iCal calendar is located, it just downloads to be put in iCal. Once in iCal, a message saying "this calendar is corrupt" comes up.

Protect / limit the stream to display on my own site only?

Hi :-)
Is there any way I can protect the displaying of the stream from being used (displayed) on a foreign homepage?
I would be great if I could limit the stream only to be shown on my on server / domain / IP address.
Perhaps there is some kind of logic in the streaming server where a IP address (or domain) can be defined that is allowed to show the stream?
Can this be done so no one can "steal" my stream and display it on their own site?

Thank you very much. I tried it and was denied access from other domains than what I defined in the allow tag. So it worked on the domain level...
BUT ... I could still see the stream when saving the html file (from a allowed domain) on my desktop and displaying it there.
I need to deny the displaying from desktops too. How to do this?
I will look into the access / auth plugin option. Do you have a good PHP example?

Masking and forwading to your own site...Rage..Toad..Roddy..Please read

Dear All,
Curious if you mask and forward to your own site...Can google still find your site and read it so that it can be listed and ranked...Not to a mobile me account a regular third party site.. If you mask and forward to your site do the web crawlers get confused or lost?
Meaning when you view the page source a person can only see the masking and fowarding code.
A reason why a person may want to mask their site is so that fellow competitors can not see their code or succesful techniques in getting a good rank?

If you mask your site totally like my tutorial site that will seriously limit the search engines ability to peruse the site and do it's thing because all pages will have the same masked URL.
What's in the URL shouldn't be a factor in setting up a site. Your domain name will get people to it and that's all that counts. It's the content that will keep them there. What's in the URL field just is not a factor. So use CNAME if your host supports it so the URL will be reasonably short but allow each page to be bookmarked and googled.

simple terms all I need is a link to site B from a page made from a
template in site A.
So what code do I place in my new site A page to feature site
B?

SharePoint Apps can be installed and added to a site, but can not be started

I followed this guide to enable SharePoint Apps on our SP Foundation 2013: http://sharepointchick.com/archive/2012/07/29/setting-up-your-app-domain-for-sharepoint-2013.aspx. On top I did the configuration of the Subscription Settings Service that is
mentioned in the guide with a link to msdn.
Now we are able to add Apps to a site through SharePoint Store with a user with the needed rights ( System Account can not do this). The link that is created for the app matches our configuration of App URLs, but when I click on the added app on my site,
the website can not be found. It seems like the apps aren't really added to the server.
I also don't know how I can add apps to the app catalog I created.

I wanted to confirm first. After you went through the configurations, you created an App Catalog site and that's where you're adding your App? (Steps here:

Is this your own test App? Does it have to be registered? When does the error appear - is it when you Trust the App on your site?

Silverlight app in Lync CWE fails with "Client not trusted", despite being added to trusted sites

We're trying to get a silverlight app up and running in a Lync 2013 CWE. We have a Lync 2010 server on it's own domain, which is not the same domain as the 2013 client machine. Clients on the different domains communicate perfectly.
The silverlight app is hosted on our own webserver, which is in the same domain as the 2013 client machine. We tried hosting it on the other domain, with the same result.
YES, we've added the domain to our trusted sites in registry, but still we get the exception.
The line that fails:
_conversation = (Conversation)LyncClient.GetHostingConversation();
