Adding to Word's Address Book

This should be really simple, but I cannot find the answer anywhere! I just typed an address into the Label box (Tools menu) in Word 2004 for Mac v11. How can I add this address to Word's address book?

Hi oriole6;
Seeing as how you are asking about the Word address book which is produced by Microsoft, you will probably have a greater chance of success if you asked on the Microsoft forum instead of here on an Apple forum.

I added a group to Address Book, but it doesn't show up in Mail's addresses.  Why?  In the past, any groups I added to Address Book or changes I made in Address Book showed up in Mail's addresses, but not this time.

Do you have any videos/movies in the video app?
In iTunes if you right click on the video and select Get Info and go to the Option tap what Media Type is shown?

• How do I import addresses from Word into Address Book?

I have all my addresses formatted as a label document in Word (so I can print on Avery labels). How can I import this information into Address Book?

You will need to convert the file so it appears something like this:
LastName<tab>FirstName<tab>Address<tab>City<tab>State<tab>Zip
Aalberg<tab>The<tab>3451 Avon Way<tab>Burbank<tab>CA<tab>91564
Jones<tab>Sam<tab>11112 First Ave. NW<tab>Atlanta<tab>GA<tab>30022
The above is the general format required. The typical way of doing address labels in Word is to create a mailmerge database that would be formatted like the above. Then you create a mailmerge document in which the fieldnames on the top line of the database are inserted in the desired format. You then create the output file by doing a mailmerge. Apparently you are doing it the brute-force way.
I hope this makes it clearer for you.

• Getting contacts added on phone into address book.

I just got my iPhone yesterday and after importing my contacts from my old phone from a .csv file I had over 200 duplicate "no name" contacts. I followed the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2481 and was able to get rid of the duplicates and replace the contacts with what was in my address book. For some reason the force sync where you replace the contents of the phone contact list with your address book contacts did not work so I had to use that.
Now I STILL can not get contacts added on my phone to be entered into my address book after sync. Why is that? I thought the above step was supposed to clear out any issues and force the sync to work correctly?
I DO NOT have Mobileme but I do not think that is necessary for my contacts on my phone to be imported when I sync my iPhone 4.
How do I fix this

You were not turning in the appropriate direction before and/or in the appropriate stance. Plus the techno gods were not smiling on you.
But I am glad they finally let you sync.

• Adding a additional iCloud  address book account.

short and sweet:
- have anybody added a second icloud account on the address book preferences?
- I already have my icloud account set up in Lion (and works perfectly), trying to add my partner's address book (only) on
the application preferences (see: http://www.macosliontips.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/lion-address-book-google -contacts-sync-removed.jpg)
- trying to get some advice, has anybody try this?, did it messed up your contacts?, I need some advice, what would happen?, afraid of doing it, and messing all of my contacts.
thx.

*an additional.

• Adding contacts from Yahoo Address Book

I want to add the contacts from my yahoo address book to my iPhone. Should I sync the contacts to my phone through iTunes or will it delete all my current contacts on my phone and I should just manually add the contacts onto the phone in order to not lose my current contacts?

Syncing my iPhone to Yahoo Address Book did not delete the contacts on my iPhone. It instead added the contacts to my phone and put the contacts from my phone into my Yahoo Address Book.

• Stop adding + when dialing from address book

Hi, I have a Verizon 8830, and I'm currently in China. I am using a local pre-paid SIM card from China mobile and it works fine. Mobile telephone numbers in china start with 13XXXXXXXXX. I stored one number in the address book (e.g. 13888888888, with no country code), but when I open the contact and select call number 13888888888, a plus is added when it calls the number which looks like this +13888888888... of course, this way the phone is making a call to the US which isn't what I'm doing. To get around this, I need to either save the number as 8613888888888, so that when the plus is added, it finds the correct country code and dials the chinese number with no problem, or save the number as +8613888888888.
But I don't want to fix all modify all my numbers, and I want to know why it's adding the plus??? Is there an option to turn this feature off?
FYI, if I dial the number manually as 13888888888 instead of calling it from the address book, it doesn't add the plus...

• Adding selected Birthdays from Address book to an iPhoto Calendar

I'm creating a Calendar in iPhoto, I have a large number of birthdays in my Address Book but I don't need all of them added to my Calendar Project (ie: Business contacts, etc). Is there a way to only add selected people, or a group to my project or do I have to import the birthdays and go in manually afterwards and erase the people I don't want?
Thanks.

AtzeP
I did find a solution! I found that it was working from my laptop, but just not from my desktop. So, on my desktop computer, in Address Book, I deleted the field "Birthday" from my template, then I re-added it and from then on, it worked. There must have been something corrupt in the that field in my template. To get to it in Address Book:
Hightlight a card, then click Card > Add Field > Edit Template
Scroll down to the Birthday field and click the minus sign next to it.
Then add the field back in:
Highlight a card, then click Card > Add Field > Birthday
That worked for me. There are two parts that I don't know about:
1) I don't THINK it will delete the Birthday field in cards that already have a birthday entered. I think it just deletes that field in the template and therefore in newly entered contacts that field would be missing, but I would make sure you have that data backed up in some way first.
2) I don't know if the birthdays that are already entered will suddenly appear in your calendar or if you'll have to go back and delete and then re-enter that info.
I hope it works for you! Let me know!

Does anyone know how to add My Card from Address book to my signature everytime you send an email from mail? I'm migrating from Windows and outlook.

When creating a signature you can drag n drop your vcard onto the window.
Mail--> preferences--> signatures click the + sign create your signature and drag n drop your vcard.
Then from the drop down menu at the bottom of the signature windon choose your default signature.
Then it will add that file every time you add your signature to your message.

• Copying addresses from Filemaker 5.5 or Word to Address Book

I used to have a fairly large database (600+) for a rare bone disease group. The list ran through my ISP. That list is no longer available because of a server switch. I need to move the names and e-mail addresses to Address Book so I can put them in a separate group for Mail. Can't figure out how to do it. I am using an iMac G5 running 10.5.8. Any help?

Have you tried exporting the database as an XML file with an XSL stylesheet to remove the quotes around the data fields? There's one here that is supposed to work: <http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/185588/post/245121/>.
If that doesn't work, you could export it as a CSV file, then open it with a text editor such as BBEdit, Smultron, or even TextEdit and use the Find and Replace feature to find all quotes and remove them. Then save the file, open Address Book and import it.

• Problem Adding Custom Labels to Address Book

I add custom labels to the Template in Address Book Preferences. There's no problem at this stage, the custom labels appear along with the preset labels in the Template. But when I leave Preferences, go back to Address Book and add a new card, the custom labels disappear.
What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be appreciated. And thank you in advance.

Barney-15E: Thanks for your previous reply!
Would you check this work-around for me? I think I found a way to compose a master list of custom labels and have them available for multiple cards (new and old) in Address Book on a MacBookPro and in the Contacts directory on an iPhone. I have tried compiling a master list of custom labels using Address Book Preferences/Template and I find there's a limit to the number of custom labels I can add as a label for each field.
Here's my workaround.
1) Go to the iPhone Contacts directory.
2) Add a new card.
2) Enter data in these fields: address, date, email, and phone. The standard label will appear on the screen below the data.
3) Tap the standard label and you will go to a screen with 2 windows. The top window has the standard or preset labels for that field but below it in a second window is a button "Add Custom Label". Tap on this button and you will be able to add the text for a Custom Label for each of these fields. This will then become a master list of Custom Labels that can be used in most labels in the iPhone Contacts Directory.
4) If you have your IPhone set up to synch with your MacBookPro or iMac, the entry in the iPhone Contacts directory will be transferred to your other Mac, with the Custom Labels.
Barney - 15E: Can you find a glitch??? To me it seems to make a master list of custom labels available for all card, new and old. The only problem is that the input has to be done on the iPhone.

• Crash while adding new Contact to Address Book

When I add a new contact to my IPhone 4s Address Book ("Contacts") it sometimes crashes if you enter all the information and tap "done". It doesn't crash if you first enter the first/last name - tap done - open the contact and edit it. After "Contacts" crashes the new entry is not saved.
It is very annoying especially if you are on the go or you ask the person 3 times for their contact details...

Tell me about it... I always save after entering the name THEN I edit it again to add the number .. save .. and add additional details like email etc

• Adding CC lists to Address Book

I have just canned Windows 7 and moved to a MacBook. I have received an email that contains many email addresses in the CC: list. I would like to add these to my Address Book. I know how to do this in Microsoft Outlook, but not in Mail on the Mac. Can anyone assist?
Thanks

I simply tested the following, it seem to work but I don't want to pollute my AddressBook :
How about selecting all the recipients, like you would do in a text edition window, then right click and "Add to AddressBook" ?

• Globally adding "custom" labels to Address Book

Any way to do it?
I understand how labels work now (I think); that a custom label is only saved with the contact itself.
What I want to do is to add a label (e.g.: "Skype" to the phone numbers) that I can choose in existing contacts without having to retype it every time. For new contacts, I can change the template to help a bit, but for existing contacts, it seems there is no way but to type it every time.

you add add it to the AB template in AB preferences->template. then it will automatically appear in all new vcards you create. but for some reason it won't be automatically added to existing contacts. that seems a bug to me.
