Adding transitions on newly created dvd freezes at playback

I've done this numerous times and only now it freezes at playback on other dvd players.  I assume it's the transitions because when I removed transitions it played all the way through without problems. To create a dvdI download video clips from iMovie, still photos from iPhoto, create titles, add transitions, add music then share to iDvd without rendering.  I found that when I render the photos become pixelated.  I've used this same procedure many times and only now the created product freezes after a few minutes.  This is done on an iMac, OS 10.4.11.
Thank you for any advice you may have!

I assume you are putting everything together in iDVD as an iDVD slideshow.
The transitions in iDVD slideshows frequently cause issues  - some of them work better than others - but the basic issue is images in iDVD created slideshows are consider to be Chapters, and some set top DVD players will pause/freeze at such chapter changes.
Your best bet is to put your presentation together as a movie using iMovie.  I personally prefer the commercial application FotoMagico Pro from Boinx, and others like Photo to Movie.

  • The issue is dvd freezing

The issue is that some of the dvds that i created are freezing during playback.
They stop for few seconds and then continues. In a project of an hour and 20 min.
the dvd pauses like 3 times , one every 20 min. aprox. In the past i resolved the issue
by changing from dvd -r  to dvd +r , but now the projects burned in dvd +r are having
    the same problem.
    ( IMAC 10.9.5 )  (FCPX 10.1.3 ) (COMPRESSOR 4.1.3 )

IMO, the more reliable media is DVD-R,
Among other causes, playability could be affected by the quality of the physical media and the encoded data rate.  It could also be your player,Try a new brand of media. Try an0other player, Get Compressor avd try a lower bit rate.

  • CREATING DVDs WITH RESCUE AND RECOVERY 4.3

I note an option "Create a backup to CDs/DVDs in RnR.  Does this option produce a set of bootable disks which is equivalent to factory rescue disks but which also contains my installed programs?  In other words, does it create an image of the fully installed HDD which can be restored in future?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
in case this is (as you said) directly in the RnR GUI, then this is the option, which will create a full backup of the current state of your system on CD/DVDs. To the answer is YES.
    Regarding your second question:
These DVD's that you will create will not behave like the original DVDs. In case you will recover the whole system using these newly created DVD's then the procedure will be a bit different then the one, that is used by the original Recovery DVD'.
However, the basic is still that same:
    - you bootup from the first DVD, make few "clicing" and the application will do the rest.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • DVD burned in Premiere Elements 4 freezes on playback

I have a Dell with Windows Vista Home Premium and I use Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 for video editing.  Recently, I've encounterd a problem with my burned DVDs freezing during playback, especially near menu markers, on a variety of stand alone DVD players.
I've been searching various forums to find a solution.  I was told it was a problem with cheap media so I've tried various name brands on the DVDs with no cure.  I was told to reduce the burn speed on the DVD recorder, but  I have no idea how to change the burn speed on the DVD recorder  I was also told to burn the project to a DVD folder and then import it into the software thant came with the DVD recorder.  I burned the PE4 project to a DVD folder but can't figure out how to open it in Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 in order to try a different burning software.
So how do I change burn speed on the PC's DVD recorder?  How do I open the PE4 project in Roxio?  Can anyone recommend another solution?

Don't discount any of the posted suggestions, but I work with VOB type files often, and here's what I found works best (for me any way).
When and if at all possible, always convert VOB type files to DV-AVI, then import this into PE for editing.
First you need to combine all the VOB's off of one DVD disc into one large VOB file.
This will eliminate the OOS (out-of-sync) issues you are seeing between audio and video.
    View this link for details:
    http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2469
Once combined, then use Prism to convert the single VOB into the DV-AVI format.
Use this FAQ link for Prism or Win Movie Maker convert options:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
I have found large VOB and MPG files to be a challenge to work with within PE, but once converted via the method described, PE is very stabile and the editing experience goes up an order of magnatude.
Convert the VOB's, trust me on this one...

  • Adding transitions creates audio noise

Adding transitions creates a slight "pop" noise at the beginning and end of the transitions. Any solutions for avoiding or correcting this problem?

You might want to try using something like a Fade Out or Fade In instead of one of the transitions that add or subtract to the length of the video
    [Quoted from iMovie Help]
Some transitions (for example, Cross Dissolve and Push) shorten your movie by a few seconds, depending on the speed of the transition. For example, if you add a transition with a speed of 2 seconds, iMovie overlaps 2 seconds from the first clip and 2 seconds from the second clip as it renders the transition. This shortens your movie by a total of 2 seconds.
The Overlap transition freezes the last frame of the clip on its left and superimposes it over the next clip. Fade In/Fade Out blackens the last frames of the clip on the left and the first frames of the following clip.
    [End quote]
I think the best way is to extract the audio right after you import and before any transitions are added.

  • How to read value from Key flexfield added on to the newly created SIT

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirrment to display a new structure in the Special Information Types (SIT) screen in SSHR. The data entered into the segment needs to be validated using PL/SQL function.
I have performed below steps to display the structure/field on SIT Page
    1. Created new flexfield structure as XX_LEAVE_ENCASHMENT under the "HUMAN RESOURCE" Application (Application id- 800) and flexfield TITLE "Personal Analysis Flexfield" (PEA).
    2. Added a new segment "Encash Days" for the newly created flexfiled structure "XX_LEAVE_ENCASHMENT".
    3. Added this new structure in the Special Information Types form in HRMS responsibility
    4. The structure is enabled on the SIT screen.
Now I want to validate the data entered in Encash Days field in this page by calling a PL/SQL function. This can be done by extending the SIT page Controller.
But how should the ID of the newly enabled segment (in the new Flexfield strucuture) be retrieved in the controller inorder to read the user-entered value (to further call the validation program)? Or is there any other way of achieving this functionality in OAF?
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes, u can get the value from the SIT and perform the relevant validation too.

  • Adding Transitions freezes and stutters playback in Preview.

I'm posting this as a new issue. Since I've narrowed down my "stuttering/freezing on playback" problem while in Preview/Edit mode.
This begins to happen as SOON as I add a transition. Whether I add it automatically, or manually.
The clips play fine without transitions in the project and the Event window. These are clips from a Kodak Zi6, I believe shot HD at 60fps, and I'm using NTSC 30fps to create the project. When I "get info" on my clips, the codecs listed are H.264 and AAC, dimensions 1280x720.
When the Movie Project is exported & viewed in QuickTime, it plays smoothly.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated, as I'd like to preview my work as I go!
This movie is LESS than one minute long!

    UPDATE - A workaround?
after what you posted about converting the file to the apple codec AIC - it occurred to me to try this.
Put a clip in the project browser - it starts stuttering - with or without transitions.
click on clip and select "clip adjustments". Now when you need to run slow mo you click the "convert clip" button. Do this even though you don't need to slomo the clip and it will come up with "converting whole clip" - this can take a while if the clip/event the clip is from is quite long. Hang in there. Click done. ......and......
    all works perfectly.
It seems like the converter converts the whole event because if you now choose other clips from the event they too work with no problems! So looks like... before you start run the conversion on a clip from all the events you are about to use and then you can work normally...
I've run a test project and now transistions/ green screen/ PiP all work smooth. IS this the workaround we needed?
Do you know if the convertion to AiC changes size or quality? I cant tell at the moment. But it works! (well so far.....)
Please let me know if this works for you too - if so it might be worth starting another thread as so many people are having the stutter problem and i've not seen a workaround yet that's easy to do.
    Anyone?
Apple - we should not need to do this!

  • Dvd freezing

I have a fairly complex iMovie project. 1hour 29 minutes. I have shared to iDVD and made a disc image. In spite of doing this twice the resulting image when burned to a dvd freezes at the same point every time in both a pc and two dvd players. The original iMovie seems to have nothing special at that point - not even a clip join and no added sound.
Tried using Toast 7 ( very new to it) to do the same and the resulting disc image has menus, good sound (both from the original camcorder and the overlaid commentary) but NO VIDEO PICTURE at all!! A black screen in mac dvd player and same if I burn a dvd and try a dvd player. The disc image "xxxx.toast" file seems quite small - 1.39GB I know this is an Apple discussion but.. (and Roxio's discussions do not seem to be working!)
Any thoughts how to get out of these problems?

I have removed all my chapter markers and am currently creating a disc image via Toast.
It sounds like you're using Toast incorrectly... Toast should be used to burn the disk image that iDVD creates, not an image create by Toast.
I use Toast 7.0.2 a lot and have ZERO trouble, including iMovie 6.0.2 projects with chapter markers sent to iDVD.
How to create a disk image from iDVD:
    File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • PE9 transition causes Blu-Ray to freeze

I am using PE9 to combine video files from my camcorder and apply transitions, and then creating an MPEG file which is then used to create a Blu-Ray disc (using TMPGEnc Authoring Works to add menus and then create the BDMV and Certificate folders, then ImgBurn to actually burn the disc).  Most of the time, it works fine, but occasionally, when the Blu-Ray is played, it freezes at a certain poiint - and it is always at a point where there is a transition made in PE9.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem?  Yes, it could be something that Authoring Works is doing, but seeing as how it happens only at transitions, I assumed that PE9 had something to do with it.

Pioneer makes good burners. Verbatim is about the best brand of blank media, that you can get.
    First two thoughts:
Check the Pioneer Web site, to see if there is a newer firmware version, for your burner. If so, you FIRST step will be to read the instructions on installing that update, very, very carefully. Though I do this a lot, with my various burners, I always print out the instructions for THAT firmware update, and follow them to the letter. [Recently I had a firmware update for my LG, and the instructions had changed slightly, from the previous firmware update. Always check carefully, and do not deviate from the instructions.]
BD from PrE and burn speed can present issues. With DVD-Video, PrE can Burn to Folder, and then one can use the great free ImgBurn, to do the physical burn. It allows one to adjust the speed of the burn, and I always go below the max. PrE does not yet have Burn to Folder for BD. Maybe Steve has another suggestion, but all I can think of would be to buy slower Vertabim BD blanks and test.
Also, some glitches are player-centric, so testing one of your discs on a different BD player would be a good thing to try.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • IMovie video freezes during playback; transitions not working

I'm nearing the end of making a video in iMovie. I have several clips, transitions, and music added. On some spots, the video playback stops, while the music continues; one or two clips later the video picks up again. I've deleted that section of video and re-inserted a similar clip only to have the same problem. Additionally, the transition into that particular clip doesn't work. When i play the raw video clip, it works just fine. I don't understand. Someone have a clue what's going on?

You might be able to narrow down which item is causing the problem and deleting it. First create a duplicate project:
Click the Project Library button and highlight the name of your project by click on it just once so that it will be colored in blue.
Go to File Menu > Duplicate Project, iMovie will create a duplicate with a number added to the end of the name
Open the Duplicate project and try deleting a picture, or transition or video clip where the video freezes or even just before the point where it freezes.
Playback the movie and see if it reacts differently.
Just try one thing at time and you might discover it's one item in the Project timeline that's causing the problem. Once you find the source of the problem, you can try replacing it or just leave it out until you finish the project and export it. Sometimes it's difficult to figure out how something got corrupted and subsequently how to ressurect it.

  • Problem creating DVD

once i've added the media to the DVD i click on the create project button. it takes it forever to get to the next screen and when it does it says that i need to change the encoding thing in the project info, but i won't let me do that either. i'm not sure wat to do.
any hints to help me along?

    Hi
    1. How much free space is there on Your internal boot hard disk ?
    • Other doesn't count
I have a minimum of 25Gb free when starting to burn my DVDs
    2. If You have lot's of external hard disks - Spotlight may slow things down.
    • Go into System pref and to Spotlight
    • Here select Integrity
    • Add all hard disks
Now Spotlight CAN'T Search - BUT You are free to use full speed in iDVD
Don't forget to set it back when done.

  • Setting focus to inputText of newly created row in af:table

    Using Jdev Ps4
    Simple use case:
I have an af:table with a few columns and a createInsert button.
When I press the createInsert button, a new record is added to the table.
How can I set focus to the first inputText of that newly created row?
I have been looking for a solution online but all the examples online tell us how to set focus to components that already exist and you know the ID of. With the newly created row, you don't have the ID so you cannot set the focus.
In this topic (which is quite old...) https://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=643924 Frank Nimphius explained that it would be difficult and he would pass it on to the developers.
I haven't found any information if there are some enhancements in this area to make this work...
I tried with using plain old javascript by looping through the dom structure but had no success in doing so...
    Thanks

  • How to know which row is newly created in the table

    Hi all
i have one classic table with a button to add new row.
when page renders initially it displays some record .Here user can either update the previously existing record or may create new ones .
after adding one more row when users submits it , in back-end i need to go thru all the rows in the view to do some validations .but i need to insert newly created row using API. how can i know which row haas been newly created,
    pls help

you can know which row is new using different techniques at different places, depending where you want to do it.
    1. In AMImpl: if the PK column attribute of the row does not have a value, then you know this is a new row.
    2. In EOImpl: insertRow will be executed only if it is a new row.
    3. In Pl/SLQ package (if being called from EOImpl): You can check the creation_date or OVN for the row and determine if this is a new row.
    4. You can use the method mentioned in this thread

  • Why can I not see any newly created 'Groups' in 'Work Group Manager' on the client Mac at login?

Hi. Now, this issue has not been resolved since 10.6 Server. I have now upgraded to Mountain Lion and the issue still persists. I used to easily create Workgroups/Groups in 'WGM' and they would appear at login for those users who were part of that group. As it stands the old created groups appear ok and can be accessed selected at the point of logging in. The newly created groups don't show up at all. They all look good to go when looking at WGM. I have tried removing the Users from the groups and adding them again but there is no change. It is getting me so frustrated!
Why is this happening? Is there a quick fix for this?
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Hi. Now thats a hard one to pin point exactly.  I guess you mean Archiving the OD and exporting users and groups etc Yes this happened when we upgraded from 10.5.8 Server to 10.6 Server.
How do I go about fixing this in Mac OS X Server 10.8.4?  Do I have to go through all that again?  Will I lose any settings in doing so?
    Thanks in advance.
