Adding User Loops

I'd like to confirm the results an experiment I tried with adding loops that seems like a bug.
I created a loop using the Apple Loop Utility and set the bpm and key. Then I imported the loop into GB. GB correctly interpreted the bpm and key when I changed the project key and tempo.
I added this loop to the Apple Loop Library by dragging it to the Loop Browser. When I looked in the Loop Browser the bpm and key were incorrectly shown as the current project key.
However, when I dragged the loop back into the project, the loop behaved as though it still had the bpm and key that I originally set in the Apple Loop Utility. So it looks to me like the info that shows up in the Loop Browser is getting incorrectly updated.
Is there any other way to add user loops to the Apple Loop Library and have them show up in the loop browser. I tried dragging the loop directly to the Apple Loop Library, but it didn't appear in the Loop Browser.

you can drag it directly
into the Loop Browser and it will retain its original
loop properties.
Tangoloco,
You have indirectly touched upon a weakness of the GB browser that I must continually work around. Since I am tonight in the process of implementing that work around I thought I would find this post and flesh it out.
Once an "Apple Loop" is in the GB browser no matter what its original BPM and key are you can only hear it in the BPM and Key of the master track. This is convenient in most cases but in some cases it is very inconvenient.
Inconvenient in the sense that one can only hear the loop in its original BPM and key by either matching GB's Tempos and Key to that loop OR you must use the Mac Finder to listen to the loop in its original condition.
Often I like to hear the loop in its original BPM tempo and key. Often I will find one loop that inspires me to create a tune around that loop in its original BPM tempo. But if I am making a GB tune in 120 BPM and go thru the browser and see an 80 BPM loop I can ONLY hear it thru the browser in 120 BPM.
I may even want to take that loop at its original 80 BPM and drop it into my 120 Track AT 80 BPM. So what I have to do is work around and find the loop in the Finder and then move it into the GB time line from outside the application. Kind of what your question is about in a way. Dropping a loop into GB so it can retain its original BPM and NOT be affected by whatever the tracks BPM is.
If I could change one thing in GB it would be the browser ability to playback. I would love to see a browser that can play a loop in the current tracks BPM (like it does now) and also give me the option to hear it in its original BPM.
Well back to music making.......

  • Adding / deleting loops - where Garageband is relevant....

All - this is a question involving Garageband, but only because I have heard Logic will "inherit" GB projects, so I'm assuming (not having bought it yet, pending this question possibly), that Logic operates its loops area the same way.
I stumbled on this (archived) thread....
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1896042
... trying to find out why I couldn't:
    a) delete a loop folder that I added:
I know where the Library\Audio\Apple Loops\User Loops folders are, and have
    - deleted a couple folders I dragged to the Loop Browser,
    - deleted the index files, etc,
...but there is still one folder showing up in the "User Loops" menu section, and all its files, and this folder is NOT in the above Library\Audio\Apple Loops\User Loops folder path. Where is it, and its files?
Also, I thought I read that you could delete individual loop files just using the Delete key. That doesn't respond either, but it could be because I'm using a Windows keyboard.
    b) see other loop folders show up that I tried to add:
After seeing two folders show up that I dragged to the L.B., no other folders dragged will show up, in the browser or in the Library\Audio\Apple Loops\User Loops folder/area. I tried
    - copying a folder full of files (these are all .wav files by the way) to the
    above ...\User Loops path, then
    - dragging that to the L.B., which started a "Garageband is reindexing... "
message... but it never showed up in the L.B., nor did it make a new index
    file.
All very odd and inconsistent. If Logic uses the same sort of loop add/delete browser functionality, it's doubtful if I'm going to buy it, if I can't even get this problem solved. I need to be able to use my own drum loop files, and see them. Thanks in advance for any help. It's GB '09 v5.1 by the way.

Typically I have had this happen when the loops I have tried to add, were not proper Apple Loops for some reason... I assume you have been using the ALU to create the Apple Loops yes? if so, did you enter info in all the fields needed?
There can be other reasons though...
    For example,
Are the loops in other time sigs to 4/4 for example? If so make sure you select ANY in the Signature drop down menu in the Loop Browser to see them...otherwise you only see loops in 4/4 and they won't show up when you look for them. The same applies to to the scale filter in the browser too...Set that to ANY too...
Finally, to confirm it is an error of some kind, be it user or Logic...have you checked the actual Apple Loops Folder to make sure the missing ones do actually reside there?

  • Where are my User Loops in Finder?

I want to edit some tags and names of my third-party loops ... however I don't have a User Loops folder in the same location along all the Jam Packs and other Apple Loops in the folder Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/
I can see/hear/play my third-party loops in the Loop Browser in Logic Pro X, but I can't find the AIFF and WAV files anywhere in my Finder folders ... seaching by loop file names doesn't bring any of them up either?
This is getting frustrating. Any suggestions where I might find my User Loops?

Your user loops are  in your user library, which has been kept hidden by default since OS X 7 (Lion).
To access your User Library, use the Finders' Go menu, then press alt and you'll see your User lib destination be added to the dropdown. Choose it.
You can also make your user lib permanently visible (meaning it will also be included in Spotlight searches) via the Terminal application:
    Make the Library Visible Permanently
Apple hides the Library folder by setting a file system flag associated with the folder. Any folder on your Mac can have its visibility flag turned on or off; Apple just chose to set the Library folder's visibility flag to the off state. To reset the visibility flag, do the following:
    Launch Terminal, located at /Applications/Utilities.
Enter the following command at the Terminal prompt:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
Once the command is executed, you can quit Terminal. The Library folder will now be visible in the Finder.
Should you ever wish to set the Library folder back to its default hidden state in OS X Lion, simply launch Terminal and issue the following Terminal command:
    chflags hidden ~/Library

  • What is the difference between using the command "dsmgmt" and the "Managed By" tab when adding users to the local administrators Account on a Read-Only Domain Controller?

    When I use the
"dsmgmt" command to add a user to the local administrators account of a RODC I can actually see the user when I use the "Show Role Administrators" parameter. However, I can't see the members of the
group added to the "Managed By" tab of the RODC object in AD. Even though, the users added using
"dsmgmt" and by the "Managed By" tab can all log in locally and have admin rights to the RODC. Are there any differences between these two ways of adding users to the local administrators account?

    Hi,
For groups, managedBy is an administrative convenience to designate “group admins”. Whatever principal listed in
managedBy gets permission to update a group’s membership (the actual security is updated on the group’s AD object to allow this).
In Win2008 and later managedBy also became the way you delegated local administration on an RODC, allowing branch admins to install patches, manage shares, etc. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755310(WS.10).aspx).
On the RODC, this is updating the RepairAdmin registry value within RODCRoles.
So the difference between them should be only the way they do the same thing.

    Hi Satish,
The problem is that you added the table and the objetc that you used to add the table is not freed properly. You need to free the object and then the reference count to that table will be 0 - which will enable you to add the fields
    e.g
    Dim pUTables As SAPbobsCOM.UserTablesMD
    'Do your stuff
    Set pUTables = Nothing
    Dim pUFields As SAPbobsCOM.UserFieldsMD
    'Do your stuff

  • Adding apple loops?

    Hi guys,
Wonder if you can help me with this.
I have a few Big Fish sample cd's that have apple loops on them, is there a way I can add them so they show up in the logic apple loops browser in the appropriate section?
Where would I need to copy them? I have all my samples on an external hd so would it be possible to reference them to show up in the browser??
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello,
I am having trouble making my own apple loops and am hoping someone can helo: When I highlight an audio region in the arrange window, use the "add to apple loops library" under the local region command, the loop shows up in the apple loops browser, but it is an empty audio region when i drag into the arrange window to an audio track. when i drag a midiloop into the browser, it seems to work out fine, and i can create a green apple loop, but not with audio. i've noticed, that the loops are saved under users/library/apple loop/user loops/single files, but even when i try to import the audio files from this folder as audio into the arrange window or audio window, they still come up as empty files. can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?
    thanks in advance.

  • Garageband custom "user-loops" files missing

I'm using Garageband '09 (Version 5.1 (398) and I am having trouble locating my custom "user loops" files.
I know that custom made apple loops are saved in
    Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops
I have about 100 loops saved in the folder, but in Garageband I have over 200 saved custom made loops that work fine. I am able to use all of the loops, only about half of them have files in the correct place.
Doing a spotlight search does not find anything, even when I search for the custom loop name exactly and search "This Mac" and "Library".
One strange thing I've found is when viewing the loops browser, at the top there is a dropdown labeled "Loops" that offers the filters "My Loops" and "Shared Loops on my Mac". It seems that I can only find the files for "My Loops" and the "Shared Loops on my Mac" are the missing ones.
Is there another place these files could be saved? I can use them in Garageband so they must be somewhere.

How can I create loops that are "My Loops" vs "Shared Loops on my Mac" on purpose.
    Check your Preferences setting:
In the "Loops" tab of the Preferences panel - the "My Apple Loops" option.
If you share your loops with all users on your mac (users havg different accounts) then the loops will be installed in the System Library, but if you do not share, your loops will be installed in your user library. If you log in from a different account you will not be able to use them.
    Regards
    Léonie
I don't have Logic installed, but both installation places should make it possible for Logic and MainStage to use the loops. It is the standard place where applications are looking for Apple Loops.

  • Adding users to groups

    Hi,
can any one share documents/resources pertaining to how to create sap user groups in BOE.
how to add groups to users.
    how to import sap users.
    etc

    Hi,
You can find the product documentation here:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000713358&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&
Specifically, go to the "Integration for SAP Solutions" section and take a look at the Installation and Administration guide:
    https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000559912010E/xi31_sp3_bip_sap_inst_en.pdf
As far as adding users and groups to the system, this is down through the CMC.  The Business Objects Enterprise Administrators guide should help you with these tasks:
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31SP3/en/xi31_sp3_bip_admin_en.pdf
To add users/groups to the BOE system, you have to go into the CMC/Authentication section and click on the SAP tab.  In here, you configure your SAP system information and add the groups that you wish to import into BOE.  Once you add the groups through here, the user accounts and groups will be mapped in to the Users and Groups section of the CMC.  From here, you can treat them like any other group in the system.
You add users to the SAP groups the same way you would for BW or any other SAP product.  If a new user is added to an SAP group that is imported into BOE, then that user will be able to logon to the BOE system.
We also have many notes on these subjects.
    thanks

  • SP 2010-After adding user from IIS is not found in central admin

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to configure my SP 2010 with Form Based Authentication.
After configuring WebSite, STS and Central Admin I added the user from IIS , But not able to found from central admin in Form Authentication.
I checked in database the user is added.
I followed the below blog .
    http://jasear.wordpress.com/2012/03/16/sharepoint-2010-setting-up-form-based-authentication-fba-using-asp-net-sql-membership-provider/
Can experts help me how to get the added user to central admin.
    Thanks
    AshisK

I was finally able to get the FBA working. After many failed attempts, I knew there was a configuration issue which was causing the error.
I provided connection string and provider details at 4 places, instead of the 3 mentioned  in various blogs around ->
    1. Sharepoint Central Admin
    2. Sharepoint Web Services
    3. SecurityTokenServiceApplication
    4. And finally the web application itself.
The connection string for 2nd and 3rd will remain same however, provider details need to be added.
After completing this step, I was able to login using Form Based Authentication without an issue.

  • Suddenly getting 404 error when adding user to group

    Hi,
I have an OAM 10.1.4.0.1 instance that's been working fine.
However, today, I noticed that when I tried to add a user to a group, when I am in the selector page and click a user, I then get an HTTP 404 error.
I've searched all of the log files that I can find, and I can't see any error messages. The only thing that is showing an error in a log is the IIS that I have setup with WebGate for OAM Admin. I get a "404" error with a sc-win32-status or "3".
I have restarted everything, and that still hasn't helped.
Does anyone here know what might be causing this, or how to diagnose the problem?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,
I'm answering my own question/problem here, but hopefully this info will help someone else.
I was able to get adding users to groups working again. I found that after I cleared the cache in my browser (IE6), the "add user to groups" started working again, without the HTTP 404 error.
In hindsight, I guess this kind of makes sense, because if you ever watch the URIs on the selector pages, they all look alike, so I'm guessing the IE would not send a full GET request, but the "content" was no longer valid on the OAM server, thus the 404 error.

  • Error when manually adding user to project workspace

I am currently using Project Server 2010.  I have a requirement for Business Users to have access to the project workspaces in Sharepoint but not be users of the PWA.  Similar to as it is outlined in this Microsoft Documentation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197668(v=office.14).aspx)
There might be a circumstance where you want to grant people who are not members of the project access to the project workspace site. Anyone assigned to the Web Administrator group can create new users for a project workspace site. In addition to the
four groups that were mentioned earlier, there are four default SharePoint Server 2010 groups. They are as follows:
Full Control   Has all personal, site, and list permissions.
Design   Can edit lists, document libraries, and pages in the Web site.
Contribute   Can view pages and edit list items and documents.
Read   Can view pages, list items, and documents.
I have added the user to the Contributor group but when they try to contribute to the space, ie add documents or an issue/risk, they recieve an error, similar to as is documented in the following article (http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/manually-adding-users-to-project-workspace-project-site-in-projectserver-ps2010-ps2007-epm/)
What has been identified in this article makes sense.  I am just wondering why Microsoft documentation states that it can be done.
    Any thoughts?

    Chris,
The Microsoft article says, users who are not part of the project. It does not say not part of project server.
However, as far as I can remember, this scenario could work if the "Synchronization" is turned off between Project Server and Project Sites. I will run a test and confirm, later today.

  • Adding Users in OIM using SPML

    Hi,
