Adding Video to a PDF file

I have an XP computer and adobe acorobat 8 professional. I have been using the advance editing feature to add movies to my PDF files. I have several questions if anyone can help me out.
1) After a video'd adobe acrobat file has been open and the video has been played, if there a way to replay the video or reset the video, without having to close the file and re-open the .pdf file to reset.
2) What software packages need to be installed in a computer to make sure a video PDF file plays on a windows based PC, wheen the video is clicked.
I am having some difficulty in getting the videos to run on some of the PC that I am testing on.
I have loaded media flash player .swf
Do you also need a certain rev level for adobe reader as well?

Interesting conversations have been spawning from my initial request.
For clarification my specific issue has to do with .swf only. Flash is supposed to be a universal play. right. Doesn't matter PC or MAC it should run when played as an video.swf file, anywhere provided that the appropriate flash application software is installed on the computer.
I have an adobe.pdf with an embedded video.swf in it, that was created on a Windows PC, but I want it to be able to be open and view the adobe.pdf file and it contents on a MAC.
When I send these PDF files to MAC users, granted they are not the kind of "MAC users" that would be talking in this Forum, they can open the Adobe.dpf but they have issues playing the embedded .swf within.
If you want more information on my application you can visit profile
at myspace.com/videoaresume
I am finding that Flash technology is very tempermental no matter with computer type you are using.
So, I set my goal if I can get my application to run 90% I am successful.
I have had three MAC users try to view my Adobe.pdf file with video, 2 could not run it.
If anyone has a MAC and wants to be able to give me feedback on whether you can open my file and play the video email me, I would be greatly appreciated.

  • Adding video to a .swf file created in InDesign so it will work as a PDF.

I am having trouble inserting a video into my indesign file. I change the format to a .FLV and then export it as a .swf. When I bring it into Acrobat to create a PDF the video does not play. Any suggestions on how to add video to a .swf file that works in a pdf?

That's a circular argument, since video in a PDF file is rendered in the Flash Player runtime.

Things will work better if you change the format of the video to MP4. Then just place the video directly in the InDesign file and make the interactive PDF. Mixing SWF and PDF are bound to be a disappointing experience.
Flash is a format which is on the downhill slope. It's not supported on mobile device (you know, tablets and smartphones), and many people don't like installing Flash for security reasons.

  • E62,can i view/save video /jpg/jpeg/pdf files,can ...

I want to know whether i can view/save video /jpg/jpeg/pdf files on E62 and whether i can send them as attachments via email. What is the maximum file size i can send via email from E62

    ANSWER FOUND!
Once I finished composing my question I went back and spent some time to figure out the problem. Rather than choosing the "save as" option, which doesn't work, or attempting to choose "export" (grayed out), the correct option is to choose "export creation", which is near the very bottom of the initial drop down options. That works!  I still think it would make sense to have it as an option in the "save as" area.

  • Glitch when adding video to a PDF

I've successfully added a video to a multi-page PDF using Acrobat X by linking to a URL as opposed to embedding the video file. My problem occurs when I navigate to the page immediately before or after the page that the video is located on.
The first time I navigate away from the page that the video is on, an outline of the video frame will be visible on the following (or preceeding) page. When I move past that following (or preceeding) page and back to it again, the frame will be gone. When I return to the page that the video is on, and then navigate away from it again, the same problem will occur on the immediately following (or preceeding) page.
I am linking to an external video via URL as opposed to embedding the video file in order to keep the PDF file size as small as possible. Embedding actual video files will not be an option, as there will be multiple videos in this PDF.
I have set the "Enable When:" option to "The page containing the content is visible" in order to not require viewers of the PDF to have to click on the video to activate its player functionallity.
I have also set the options to "Disable When: 'Disable Content' is selected from the context menu".
If I choose "Disabel When: The page containing the content is not visible" or "The page containing the content is closed", there is an unacceptable delay in page navigation functionality when navigating away from the page that the video is located on.
"Playback Style:" is set to "Play content on page".
"Border Width:" is set to "No border".
Is this frame visibility glitch on pages immediately surrounding the page that video content is located on a known problem, or is there some setting that needs to be activated to prevent this from occuring? If this is a known problem, is there any sort of workaround to negate it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Adding security password to pdf file

I have pdf pack using adobe reader
I wish to add password to open some documents.
I cant find instructions on how to do this.

    Hi ZeideGil,
To password-protect a PDF file, you need to use Acrobat. That option isn't available with any of the Acrobat.com online services. You are welcome to try Acrobat free for 30 days if you'd like. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.

  • Is there a way to recognize notes added to text in PDF files?

I really miss the add note to text functionality in this application! I am prepared to pay for it since I read documents with hundreds of references (reference by section number only) to sections spaced far appart. This tool makes it easier. I don't like the add sticky note functionality since you have to waist time to place the icon in a convenient space.
In addition, this application does not regocnize notes added to text by Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Please give us the add note to text functionality!!!!

    Hi Shradha,
    Thank you for your response.
A feature that I miss even more is the ability to move back to a link. I can follow a link but there is no way to go back. So I have to go back to the index to find my place again.
The text that I am reading typically contains 20 references per page in a 800 page document.
    Kind regards,
    Marius van Wyk

  • Flash Player in pdf file?

I'm working on a eBook in pdf format with embedded video. If I insert video in shockwave or flv format it doesn't play. Flash Player 10 doesn't appear to open from video within a pdf file. (It IS installed! on the computer). I get video playback within the pdf doc with Quick Time or Windows Media Player or any other format but NOT Flash or Shockwave. I want to have a single dedicated player format so any computer will recognize and play the embedded video. Plus a single flv or shockwave video reduces the total file size to a managable download level beyond inserting every other video rendition known to man.Can Flash Player be embedded in the pdf file, be called upon FROM a pdf file or is it something that will only work on a website within an html presentation? ~SW

Sorry, I don't know the answer.  If I had that problem, I would try to ask in the Acrobat forum.

  • Viewing edit PDF file on IPAD

I added text to a pdf file, save the file and then sent it as an email attachment. I opened up the email via the IPAD but when I opened up the attached PDF, none of my added text shows up. Note: the added text does show up with I open up the same file on the PC but not on the IPAD. How can I view the same file on my IPAD that I can view on my PC?

Try downloading the Adobe Reader app, it might work better than the default program:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/adobe-reader/id469337564?mt=8
If that doesn't work you might want to try GoodReader, which is pretty much my go-to app for PDF management:

    Hi
Or just add it/them to the data part of Your DVD ?
Under Advance Menu - bottom - Edit Content of DVD-ROM (at least v. 6.0.4)
Here You can add .pdf of photos to be opened on Computer.

  • ITunes 11.1.5 Why I can't see added PDF files!

    Hey guys,
I added some PDF files to my Library and I still can't see them on the left side menu where I can se my Videos, music and Apps...
    what could be the reason?
I am using iTunes 11.1.5 on Mac OSX 10.9.2
    Regards

You no longer use iTunes to handle pdfs.
iBooks > File > Add to library.
If the pdf is an email attachment: control click > Open with > iBooks.
Some pdfs on websites have the option to 'Open in iBooks'.

    Dear All,
When I m trying to add a new pdf file in the Data manger then it gives the error as:" Unable to open Adobe Acrobat. See your administrator about installing Adobe Acrobat."
Please help me in adding this pdf file to Data Manager.
    Thanks And Regards
    Gaurav Kumar sharma

    Hi Gaurav,
In order to load PDF files Adobe Acrobat® Standard or Professional Version is required and it needs to be installed on the machine that is loading the PDF and not on the Server machine.
That's why it is giving you error to Install Adobe Acrobat. It is also required to generate Thumbnails.
