Adding words to the dictionary

Dont suppose anyone knows how to add words to the dictonary for future reference

hi Anne-Marie,
why be so negative ? "Rethink possible"
just type your text, in an email or an SMS or in a web form.
type your word
open menu, invoke the spell checker
accept/escape until you get to your world
open menu, select "Add to dictionnary".
that is, if you are able to type your new word of course. Do you know how to do that yet ? If not, here is what I do :
I start typing my new word. At some point, the device will guess wrong. and then :
I do backspace
I click on the key with the letter
the device will then propose two choices : one with one letter, and one with the other
I hover on the correct letter
I type the following letter, and start all over again until the new word is composed.
Beware, this only allows you to type the unknown word. You have to do what I wrote earlier to explicitely add it to your dictionnary.

Is there a way to remove one or more words from the dictionary list of auto-completion?

    Hi Gordon,
Auto-completion does not involve the dictionary. The process is dynamic, and remembers the text string you have entered into each cell. The auto completion list is constructed using data you have entered into cells above the one you are currently working with. Suggestions presented contain the same character string as a previous entry in that column. Editing the list presented is not possible.
Auto-Correction does involve the spelling dictionary. It monitors the text as you type. If it finds an 'unregognized word,"' AND has more than one suggestion as to the 'correct' word, it opens a dialogue, giving you a chance to choose one of the suggestions, enter your own corection, or to accept the current spelling. If there is only one suggestion offered, Auto-correction automatically replaces the unrecognized word wth that suggestion.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • How can I add a word to the dictionary?

How can I add a word to the dictionary on my iPhone 6 plus?
    Thanks.

There's not an option to add a word to the dictionary. However, after typing that word several times, it will start to recognize it and offer it as a suggested word.

  • How do I get pages to add a word to the dictionary when it just asks if I want to look it up?

How do I get pages to add a word to the dictionary when it just asks if I want to look it up?

Thanks, but my problem is that some words spell check and offer alternatives and/or add to dictionary, but others dot not - they simply want to look them up, when I want to add them to the dictionary. Is there any way I can FORCE it to add it to the dictionary?

  • How do you add words to the dictionary on the galaxy lll?

how do you add words to the dictionary on the galaxy lll?

Type in the word as you see fit, then press it in the list of options above the keyboard. It may save it on the first press, or it may ask you to press the word a second time to save it.

  • Yes; I see that I can add words to the dictionary so that firefox no longer flags them as wrong, but is there any way that Firefox will actually suggest the added words, so that if I do misspell them, they are pressented as suggestions?

Spell check not only underlines words that are not in its dictionary, but suggests words when the flagged words are right clicked. However, if words have been added to the dictionary by a user, it does not appear that spell check incorporates the new words into to the suggestions for proper spelling. As a result, if I misspell a word that I have added to the dictionary, I have to manually correct it, because the correct spelling that was added to the dictionary is not offered in the drop down list when the word is right clicked.

''is there any way that Firefox will actually suggest correct spelling''
Right click on the indicated word, and choose, the spelling, add to dictionary,
or close the right-click context menu to allow without changing anything.
You probably have other dictionary lists on your computer of words that you've already verified and added, open that list or a copy of it in Firefox and add the ones that show up as invalid using your better judgement that you have now than in the past.

  • How to remove a word from the dictionary?

In the dictionary there are some words that aren't spelled correctly. I like to remove those words. Btw those words are not added by myself, but are already in the dictionary when I installed Firefox.
I'm using Firefox 6.0.1 (dutch version) and Windows XP.
The words I'm talking about are 'bakcupsysteem' and 'backcupsysteem'. The correct word has to be 'backupsysteem' which I've added already to the file persdict.dat.

What editor can I use for editing that file? Although I don't think I will edit that file because I see a lot of english words in that dutch(!) dictionary... I mean what is a word like "cupboard" doing in that file... And what will happen with the dictionary when I update Firefox?
Thanks for your help. I think I just have to stick with incorrect spelled words and I just have to add the correct word(s).

  • Adding words to the auto complete library

Is there any way to add a word to the auto complete Library?  Auto Complete keeps changing the spelling of my name.  I thought I noticed that the auto complete had a "learn" feature.  It seemed to me that it would remember words after I typed them and ignored auto correct but I guess I was imagining things.
    Holli

By clicking the X to ignore the autocomplete does add it.  However there is more to it than adding.
It "weights" words.  So if the word it thinks you want is "weighted" more in algorithim it will still suggest it.  However each time you ignore it it "should" weight  you more and more and the other word less and less.

  • How to remove a "learned" word from the dictionary

  • How to get the list of words from the dictionary?

    Hello,
Please confirm the possibility to get the list of words available from the InDesign's default dictionary for example: I'd like to have all the words available from the 'Russian' dictionary from InDesign.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    This should help:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/add_cs_dictionaries.html
when you find the file "AdobeHunspellPlugin.bundle", copy it to your desktop, change the extension to .zip and extract the contents. The Russian dictionary should be in the ru_RU folder (ru_RU.dic)

  • Adding words to iDevice dictionary

I am frustrated to no end by the continued insistence of my iPad and iPhone upon inserting apostrophes into "its" and "lets" no matter how many times I cancel that "correction." is there no way to force these devices to learn the un-apostrophized versions of these words?
    many TIA.

Unfortunately there are no applications that will suit that purpose on an S40.
    Note: It's not a S40 symbian phone, it's just a S40 phone, not a symbian smartphone.

  • Accidentally added a typo ("owuld" instead of "would") to the dictionary. How do I undo this so I do not look like a fool in emails?

Need help editing the added words in the dictionary.

I see no direct connection.. a printer and the computer setup for internet are not related.
But it sounds like the router in the wife's office is now in the wrong mode..
If you have an existing main router replace the second router for a switch .. that is the easy way.
Otherwise you need to bridge the router if it has that option.. most do not. Or use wan bypass.. where you turn off the dhcp server in the router and fix its ip to match the range of the main router.. this is the hassle of using router as a switch.
BUT I am making a huge number of assumptions.
What I need is the full network layout.. a quick picture would help.
I need main modem.. main router.. (maybe same box or different).. make model and current IP address and how dhcp is setup.
I need secondary router.. if that is what it is, IP and settings.
I want the printer type and model. How it is connected.
BTW I much prefer to see a network printer plugged into the network rather than usb.. it is only a matter of sorting the IP settings and driver pointing to the network rather than local.
Or you should think of it as a broken washing machine and call the technician.. who could fix the whole lot in an hour.

  • Instructions for adding a word to spell dictionary in Pages for iPad not worki g

Instructions for adding a word to the spell dictionary in Pages for iPad say to double-tap the word. At that point you're supposed to be given the option to "define" the word, which I take to be adding it to the dictionary.
Double-tapping only gives me alternative spellings of the word. I don't get an option to define.
    What am I overlooking?
    Thanks,
    Eric Weir

    Not working for me, Demo.
Entering the words in settings would be cumbersome. I have a long document with many unfamiliar names and technical terms.
In Pages with spellcheck on unrecognized words are underlined in red. Tapping once highlights they word in a pinkish box. Tapping twice brings up a list of alternative words in a graphic display rather a text suggestion with option to dismiss. Tapping outside the suggestions graphic cancels it but does not seem to reject the suggestions, I.e., not in the sense that you are then given the option of accepting the word into the dictionary.
Help gives a procedure for doing this, but it does not work.
The document I'm working on is a finished document. No composition or editing required. I just need to get it formatted for publication. Most of the words another recognized by spellcheck, and there are many, need to be enter into the dictionary.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Accidentally Adding Words to Dictionary - How to Correct

This is the most annoying thing I have with my Mac. When using the autospell check, "add to Dictionary", and the correct spelling are right next to each other and I often hit the wrong one. Now I have added mispelled words to the dictionary.
    How do I correct this?

If the control key solution doesn't work, you can edit the user (or "custom") dictionary by going to your library and manually deleting the words. If using English, you will find it here: ~/Library/Spelling/en
(If another language, there will be another abbreviation instead of "en"). Click on "en" to open it up and you will find the words you added.

Here's what Microsoft Office Word 2004 help says:
"Add words to a custom dictionary during a spelling check
    1. On the Tools menu, click Spelling and Grammar.
    2. In the Not in dictionary box, make sure you see the word you want to add to a custom dictionary.
    3. Click Options.
    4. On the Custom Dictionary pop-up menu, click the dictionary you want to add words to, and then click OK.
If you don't see your custom dictionary in the list, you need to activate the dictionar5. Click Add.
Tip If you're using automatic spell checking, you can hold down CONTROL and click the word you want to add, and then click Add on the contextual menu."
