I am using Hyperion Essbase 11.1.1.3 Version. Previously I was using Hyperion Essbase 9.3.1. I have used "AddIns("Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server DLL (non-Unicode)").Installed = False" for Essbase 9.3.1. Can anyone please let me know the similar VB code for Essbase 11.1.1.3?

For example, We have 3 Planning applications and when we run business rules on these 3 applications, Essbase divide his tasks using always 13% of CPU (1/8)...^^^Essbase is single threaded. Unless you use parallel calculation in the BRs (not that I particularly recommend that within the context of a Planning app) that's Working As Designed.
If you're curious about parallel calculation, the DBAG has plenty on it and the Tech Ref has all of the supporting commands and settings fully documented.
When parallel calculations work, they work really well. Sometimes there is zero (even negative) performance improvements.

I do not think wired will even work with the 6.x runtimes. Your only real option is to put off the move untill you can manage the a6.5 upgrade.

Exchange Server 2013 non-unicode

i am facing problem with notification (emails) from the ERP system in Arabic language as below, am already configured the exchange to accept traffic from the ERP system
from : admin
to : ÇäÌÒÇÑ, êÇÓÑ

Although Arabic character set is correct into ERP, If i changed the language for non-unicode programs locally on the exchange server shall this change will affect
on the exchange or the users messages

Analyzer 6.1 error connecting to Essbase 6.5 Olap Server

Has anyone experienced the following error after trying to select an Essbase data connection from the java web client:com/hyperion/ap/adm/HssConnHyperion product and version numbers: Essbase Olap Server 6.5 on a UNIX Server running AIX 4.3.3, Analyzer 6.1 running in Websphere 3.5.5 Advanced Edition on the same UNIX Server running AIX 4.3.3, Repository for Analyzer 6.1 stored within Oracle 8.1.1 on a seperate UNIX server running AIX 4.3.3 Client operating system: Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6, Internet Explorer 6.0.2, Netscape 6.2.2, Java Plug-in 1.3.1_02

I don't know about UNIX, but on NT, it expects you to have at least Oracle 8.1.7. That could be the problem.

Whycan't connect the Essbase Administration console to the OLAP server?

I have a problem about Essbase Administration console.After I install all the product of the Essbase, (includeing the 6540ns?6540na?6540am?654032?6540rt?eas653_nt). i can't connect the Essbase Administration console to the Essabse OLAP server.The Administrator server,username and password is correct but there is "can't connect to the server"error. All the installtion process this time is the same as berfore i have done, and there was no question when connectting to the Essabse OLAP server before. Analyzer and spreadsheet add_in can connectted to the server correctly.I installed the EAS not as as a Windows service,and i cann't even login to the EAS console,and check the EAS log i remember there is some wrong with connect the Mysql services.yesterday i installed the EAS as as a Windows service,and have connect to the server correctly mannually.I don't know why I can't install the EAS not as as a Windows service now.

- Hyperion essbase 9 cliend add-in for excell
Now i want do olap analysis on a database foodmart.mdb. I have problem to load it on essbase server. I can create only new db.

Of the 24 tables in your Access, not all have data in . You might need to code SQL to pull the required data or make one smart data source file to load it into the cube .For that one needs to know what exactly the final presentation of your reports would look . I see few tables are just meant for description and other tables have data . Firstly,Request you to understand the essbase load process, which includes the campatible data sources and their formats .
As Andy suggested , DBAG or essbase tutorial is a good option . "SQL interface " documentation along with all Hyperion documentation can be found in the following URL

Unicode vs. Non-Unicode with MI

Hi all,
We are looking at doing an installation of MI. We are currently Non-Unicode on our ERP system, although a Unicode conversion project is not too far away.
According to the document: "How To Design a SAP NetWeaver Based System Landscape" (NW 7.0, ver 1, March 2008) on pg 15, it says:
"It is required that an MI system with AS ABAP has the same Unicode type as the MI back-end system: If your MI back-end system is a Unicode system, also install a Unicode MI system (that is, both AS ABAP and AS Java on Unicode); if your MI back-end system is non-Unicode, install an MI system with non-Unicode AS ABAP (that is, AS Java on Unicode and AS ABAP on non-Unicode).
Recommendation
For new installations, it is recommended to install a Unicode based system for all SAP applications and SAP NetWeaver deployments that require an AS ABAP usage type based system (AS JAVA is only available in Unicode). In future all new installations from SAP will be Unicode only."
This is clearly conflicting...We are an English-only shop, we have a Unicode conversion imminent, and SAP's direction is clearly Unicode.
Should we even consider a Non-Unicode install?

Hi,
install a unicode middleware system for the following reasons:
- Soon the BE will be unicode enabled.
- The MI client is anyway unicode enabled, this means the end users can enter unicode characters anyway. After Unicode conversion of the backend your MI server would be the only non unicode component.
- having the mw as unicode does not harm, even if the BE is non unicode (apart from the bigger DB size due to the code page)

Unable to load German characters in NON Unicode Essbase Cube

Hi Guys,
This is what we want to do:
Build a Cube for Germany on our Essbase server in US. Our users will access cube using Excel Add-In from Germany. But since the Essbase server is in US, system environment variable ESSLANG is set to English_UnitedStates.Latin1@Binary.
The version of Essbase we are using is 7.1.3.
What we tried & failed:
To load German characters from our dimension build Text file, we added a header: //ESS_LOCALE German_Germany.Latin1@Default
at the beginning of the dim build Text file hoping the rule file will understand that the file contains German characters & load it correctly. Then using EAS I load the dimensions using its corresponding rule file.
Essbase loads the dimensions correctly, with NO Error, but when it encounters German characters it Replaces it with a Question Mark "?"
Some of the German characters are:ß Ü ü Ö ö Ä ä Å Ä Ö
Lastly, the reason we do not want to build Unicode cube is because Excel Add-In will not work with Unicode cubes.
Its urgent. Please help.

non-unicode character sets are not supported on unicode system any longer. Am I right?

trouble shooting --> printing test --> smartforms --> multiple scripts, select your output device and see print preview. it will display all supported characters.

Could not connect to the OLAP server web analysis hyperion

I created a document report in Web Analysis with an administrator user then I created a user in the shared services console and granted him access to the report, but entering with this user I can access the report, but receive the following error message: Could not connect to the OLAP server web analysis hyperion.

Is the user having correct provisioning in Essbase? Which version? (older versions, you'll have to synchronize Essbase with HSS)

How to setup the connection between non-unicode client and unicode server?

hi.
we played the program in 4.6x that call a data from unicode server (ECC6.0) to non-unicode server. ( not played in the unicode server.)
When a program ended that English Character was normal, but Korean Chinease... was unknown text.
I think conversion from unicode to non-unicode is a main reason.
General Notes are issued for the unicode side rfc connection configuration.
but, i want to know how to setup into the non-unicode system to interface with unicode system.

For taht you have to deploy korean and chinese langauges seprately on non unicode system.Then try to connect to the unicode system.It will work for you.

New Application server on existing Non-Unicode CI

Hello all,
We upgraded our BW 3.5 system to BW 7 ehp 1 late last year; due to the need for increased capacity we want to add an application server. The BW 7 system is Non-Unicode (NUC), and in SAPINST GUI I do not see any options for a NUC installation. I found a Note stating this fact, "all new installations will be Unicode by default".
So my question is, what are my options here? A UC conversion project is not an option at this time. We have a couple of projects that require no BW down time for the next 2 months. However, at the completion of those two projects is when the extra capacity is needed; so I don't have a window to conduct the conversion.

Since the start of BW 7.0 all installations are Unicode-only and all upgrades have to do a Unicode conversion. The reason is the fact, that BW 7.0 makes heavy use of Java which is not supported with non-Unicode backend systems:
Note 975768 - Deprecation of Java features with non-Unicode Backend
Note 838402 - Problems within non-Unicode system landscapes
So before installing new unsupported system landscapes I can just highly recommend (not to say 'urge' you) to convert your current BW system to Unicode. With a good preparation this can be done on a weekend - or less.

Changing RDBMS Server for Hyperion Essbase

Hello All,
We have installed and configured 11.1.2.2.100(Essbase, EIS, Studio, Shared Services) on Windows 2008 32-bit Server successfully.
Everything went fine and all products are working.
Now we changed the RDBMS Server for Hyperion Essbase and ran the configuration once again with new RDBMS server with "Reuse existing tables" option.

From that time we are unable to access the essbase server.
We were able to see the users in Shared Services. All users able to login to Shared Services, EAS but problem with Essbase.
In HSS_Component table found old server name in two places, we have updated the old DB server name to Current DB server name.
When we try accessing essbase we are getting the below error(tried with hostname, ip address, EssbaseCluster1 as Essbase server)
Network error [10061]: Failed to connect to [Server Name:1423]
Error: 103: Unexpected Essbase error 1030818
Error: 1042006: Network error [10061]: Failed to connect to [[ServerName]:1423]
Error: 1030818: Login failed. Please check if server and port are correct. If you received timeout or handshake failure,
please check if you tried to connect to secure port without secure keyword or clear port with secure keyword.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

It is extremely important that you know what you are doing before touching the shared services registry and the correct way is not to update tables, it is to use the epmsys_registry utility.
To be honest you may have screwed up the registry and that is something I am not going to get involved in, try discussing with Oracle what you have just done.
If it is only the rdbms servername changing (not the essbase server) then you should follow the instructions in the documentation - Changing the Shared Services and Registry Database Connection Information and Password
