Addition of field in asset master record

I want add a field IN HOUSE PRODUCTION in asset master data creation, Moreover i want to add a field of Iniatiator in Asset master data. Please guide where should i go in SPRO. Waiting for your reply.

You can use for this the User Fields in the asset masterdata
Financial Accounting / Asset Accounting / Master Data / User Fields
    Define 4-Character Evaluation Groups
    Define 8-Character Evaluation Groups
    Change Key Words in the Evaluation Groups
    Develop Enhancement for User Fields in Asset Master Record

Enabling of the Business Area field in Asset Master Record

Hello SAP Gurus,
Can you explain how I can enable Business Area field in Asset Master Record becz it needs be change.How I can acheive this becz it is coming in disabled mode.

Once u ticked the check box save it.Now u can change these field in main asset master record and if u have ticked Su no also then in sub asset master record also.Make sure filed status is optional.
Now u go to AS02 if u want to change the filed for main asset or sub asset

WBS Field in Asset Master Record

Hi All,
Currently we are working in 4.6 C version.
The requirement of the client is they want the Field WBS to be populated in asset Master Record under the origin Tab or Time Dependent.
The standard functionality is available in ECC6
Could some body help us in knowing how to achieve this in 4.6c, do we the SAP standard Solution or do we need to go for some enhancements.

@ Satish - Seems you have copied the reply from one of my earlier posts which is related to a different issue
@ Nitin: Go to Screen layouts (IMG > AA > Master data > Screen layout)
Here, you need to allow WBS Element in your screen layout... Also, if you cant see WBS there, Allow to use WBS element in the IMG Step AA > Integration with GL > Define Additional account assignment objects...
I never worked on 4.6, but I guess WBS must be allowed for usage

CostCenter in Asset Master Record

Hello Gurus,
Our client is using Location field in the asset master record for property tax filing.
So it is required field in asset master record.This location field is same as cost center field,means the data is entered in the cost center has to be entered in Location field also for reporting purpose.So everytime when a new cost center is defined there is a need to define new location also from FA side.My question is ,Is there anyway that when a cost center is created that this can get added into location table? Or, can this table be updated without it being configuration?
Please advise me.All your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

you must put a validation or modification in exit COOMKS02 or
COOMKS03 (tcode SMOD)
-> from here you can create an entry in cu-table T499S resp. TTXJ

Screen Layout Field in the Asset Master Record

What is the use of the screen in the asset master record, ANLA-FELEI?
We have some assets where there are different values between this screen layout and the screen layout defined at the asset class (i.e. through configuration).
It seems the one defined within the asset class takes precedence.

Scree Layout controls the diplay of fields, it may not be necessary for a user to use all the fileds provided by SAP. Hence the options like Required, Optional and Suppress are used to control the screen diplay and the TABs to be displayed based on the need.
Asses within the same class will have same fields since the screen layout are assigned to an Asset class.
Scree layout for the Tab Depreciation Area can also be controlled with the screen layout defied for the Depreciation Area. With this one can have different screen layouts per dep. area.

Quantity field in Asset Master

Dear All,
We have created one Asset e.g. "Drawframe" which includes the total acqusition value of 10 Drawframes i.e. if 1 drawframe is of 1000 Rs/- then we have included 10,000 Rs (1000*10) in single asset "Drawframe".
Now my query is:
When I sell one drawframe then how would I be able account it in Asset accounting, because I have a single asset with combined drawframe values.
I saw quantity field in the Asset Master. Please let me know if the use of this field in my case.

For assets in which a base unit of measure is entered, you can enter a quantity when you post acquisitions and retirements. The system then updates the asset according to this quantity when you post, based on the debit/credit flag of the transaction posted.
In addition, you can already specify a quantity when you create a new asset master record. However, any quantity you enter in master data maintenance (such as 1) is added to any quantity that is entered in the acquisition posting.

Trouble with updates of Asset Master Record via BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CHANGE

I'm using functional module BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CHANGE in order to update time dependent data in Assets Master Record. Although I'm updating only time dependent data and net worth valuation, some other fields are being changed too - country dependent fields for example. Could you be of any assistance to me and tell me if there's a customization for updating of these data, because I think there is one.

yes, the main functionality within the BAPI is done in function ASSET_MASTERRECORD_MAINTENANCE. If it really does not happen in AS02 but only with the BAPI I think you could open a service ticket to SAP.

Group box in asset master record's tab overlap each other

Hi Gurus,
I was wondering anyone has seen the same issue that I'm experiencing. I'm on EHP6 and have logged the issue with SAP but wondering if you've faced the same problem.
I basically designed a new tab layout with 2 tabs and assigned the following group box to the 1st tab
S0001     General
S0003     Time-Dependent Data
S0002     Posting Information
S0013     Equipment
to the 2nd tab I only assigned
S0009     Origin
S0100     Depreciation Areas
Then I assigned the new tab to the asset class.
Now when I create the asset through AS01, the tab and group boxes appear however the time-dependent group box overlaps with posting information (please see below). Have you experienced the same issue in your environment?

Dear Minab,
This is definitively the problem of overlapping of the layouts.
The asset master data transactions AS01, AS02 and AS03 uses a generic tool to define the screen layout. Unfortunately there are some restrictions on that tool which are based on basis functionality.
The problem is caused by compression and resizing (note 203023)
Since Release Enterprise there are more fields on that screen in Release Enterprise than before.
Hence, the problem is caused by the definition of your asset layout the solution in your case could be to move the screen to an own subscreen or to move this screen to the end of the tab.
Please go the customizing (transaction SPRO) and follow these steps:
   Financial Accounting -> Asset Accounting -> Master Data -> Screen
   Layout -> Specify Tab Layout for Asset Master Record -> Define Tab
   Layout for Asset Master Data
Select in your layout the relevant tab page.
Here you may need to change positions and group boxes around. Unfortunately there's no other solution possible due to technical restrictions.

Time interval in Asset master record.

Hi All,
I am creating asset master record using AS01. Then I am doing intercompany transfer of asset via T Code ABT1N.
If I view the asset time dependant data after this I am getting the following:
1. The time interval mentioned is 01.01.1900 till 31.08.2007.
2. When I add the furthur time interval I am getting the ABAP dump.
Please help on this.

When you look in the dump you see on the begin somwere of the dump
> here you see the reason for the dump, perhaps there is field what can help you to solve the problem.
You can have a look with the programmer and or create a message to SAP support.

Asset master record validation rule

Dear All,
Could you tell me the way, how i can write a validation/substitution rule in the Asset master record. I need to make sure the below steps shoud be the same:
A. Cost center in the Aseet master record.
B. Responsible cost center in the asset master record.
C. Responsible cost center in the WBS element of the same asset.
The above three should be the same. User should not be allowed to change, if tries to change error shoud be thrown.

The Respond cost center is copied from the WBS to Asset. Set this field on display int he asset.

Accomodate tax package codes in Asset master record

Hello Gurus,
We are in process of doing conversion from legacy to SAP for one of the division.
This division are maintaining tax package codes in legacy information and want
to maintain in SAP system for reporting purpose.All of Evaluation groups are
being used for other purpose and there are no more for storing this information.
Please suggest me the best solution as what to advise the users and how to store
this information.

You can make use of Type name(TYPBZ) filed which is available in the origin tab of asset master record.
This field is currently for informational purposes only.

Adding Investment Order Field in Asset Master

Hi,
I went to the following path:
Spro --> Financial Accounting --> Asset Accounting -->Master data --> Define Screen layout for master data
In all the logical field groups, I cannot find field 08 - Investment Order which I want to set to optional.
Anybody knows how I can add the field?
All the fields 01 - 07 and 09 to 19 are in the list. I wonder why 08 is missing.
Do I need to activate it somehow?

Note: You are no longer NEWBIRD, since from 2006 you are here....:)
To have Investment Order field in Asset master, first you need to activate it thru below path.
IMG->FA->AA-> Integration with GL->Additional Account Assignment Objects->Activate Accoount Assignment Object...
Here you need to activate INVESTMENT ORDER field to enable the inputs in asset master. Without doing this you will not be able to find the field in the screen layout definition for asset master data.

How to change cost center in Asset Master record ?

Hi SAP Gurus,
My client is asking me to change cost centers in Asset Master records using LSMW. Currently, the field cost center is in display mode. In order to change the cost center, the field cost center must be in change mode while recording in LSMW. I have changed screen layout rule for Asset Master data. I have selected radio button "Optional" for cost center in screen layout for Asset Master data. But still cost center field is in display mode in Asset Master record. It must be changeable.
Please suggest me how I can resolve the issue.

Hi Saravana,
We can change the cost center for AuC Investment measure at WBS element level. For that purpose we need to go to AuC Investment measure Asset master record and check WBS element under Origin Tab. Double click on WBSE and then check the cost center under Assignment tab. And also check the cost center in Asset master record for the same. Now you can go to T.Code CJ12 (Change WBS Element) and change the cost center for the same. Once you make changes system automatically change the cost center in asset master record for the same.
Note: - Now you have to identify all the AuC Investment measure Assets and the WBS Element for the same. Then change the cost center in WBS Element record. And the corresponding changes will be done in relevant Asset master record automatically.
But before making the change please check with the PS/PM consultant regarding changes in WBS element. Means where it will effect?

there is a location filed and the location relative to an address number .
my concerns that how can we maitian the address number or do we just pick
one from the table adrc?

Check whether the asset class is locked in for your depreciation area in T Code AM05. If so, remove the lock.

Equipment master record updation in Asset master record

Dear Friends,
I have a query with regard to Equipment master record updation in asset master record. Here we have created equipment in Plant maintenance module and we have created asset in AS01 tcode. When we give the asset number to PM module guys, they can easily update the asset number in their equipment master by changing the equipment master record.
But when we enter the same in asset master record in 3rd tab allocations tab, initially it is accepting the equipment details like equipment number, category, object and tech description, but the same is not available after saving.
Please let me know whether I have to do any customization in asset settings inorder to get the equipment number populated in asset master record.
