Addition of Optical Marks for batch printing

Hi There
I have just had a requirement to add Optical Marks down the left hand side of the page for batch printing. My problem is that every set of marks will be different for every page and as i have some recurring tables in my template with an unknown number of rows at time of printing so i wont know the number of pages. I do know the way the marks are worked out for each page though.
Has anyone come across this situation before and could let me know the best way to approch it?
Ruth

A solution I came across is using imagemagick's convert command:
convert *.jpeg multipage.pdf
This made a multipage pdf which is then very easy to print using evince or another pdf viewer

  • A solution for batch print PDF documents

    Dear,
       I use a command line to auto print some PDF documents as below:
       C:\>AcroRd32.exe /h /t PDF_file_name printer_name
       the printing is no problem.
       But when I use the command line to print a large number of PDF files, there are a problem, for example:
       There are 3 PDFs that I want to print, they are 1.pdf, 2.pdf and 3.pdf
       I sent command one by one like below.
      C:\>AcroRd32.exe /h /t 1.pdf printer_name
      C:\>AcroRd32.exe /h /t 2.pdf printer_name
      C:\>AcroRd32.exe /h /t 3.pdf printer_name
      But the hard copy from the print are:
      first print: 1.pdf
      2nd print: 3.pdf
      3rd print:  2.pdf
      what can I do for this case, I want to get the output seq. will be 1.pdf, 2.pdf, 3.pdf.
      Thanks.

    KingPool's snarky response notwithstanding (he appears to have some financial interest in “pushing” sales of PrimoPDF), your need is real and your observations do correspond to the reality of printing. The fact is that when you use spooling under Windows, the application program actually can complete spooling of the file to the printer before that spooled output is ready to be actually transmitted to the device. The print process is a multiple step, asynchronous process.
    To absolutely force printing in an exact order as per your scenario, go to the printer's Properties and select the Advanced tab. The printer is probably currently set to Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster with either the Start printing immediately or the Start printing after last page is spooled option selected. Change that to the Print directly to the printer option and then press OK. This will force printing in the order that you specify. Note however, that this forces Reader to wait as the document is fully printed and then terminate. You should reset that spooling option when you are done with this batch printing operation to regain system performance.
    Alternatively, another approach you could try would be to hold the particular print queue before running your commands. Then, after ascertaining that all the print jobs are on the queue and ready to be printed, release the queue. The jobs should print in the order queued. And finally, if there still is a mis-ordering of the jobs, after holding the entire queue, put a hold on all the jobs, release the printer queue, and then release the jobs in desired order.

  • Output file location for batch printing

    Hi all,
    We have a current implementation of Oracle Documaker for our LOB. What we do is run a .BAT file that runs the GEN* brothers (gentnw32, gendaw32, and genptw32). This then uses the XML defined in the DATA segment of the fsisys INI file. This prints out multiple PDFs for us depending on the contents of the XML.
    This workspace is a hand-me-down and works as is but with the new requirements, I need to direct the PDFs to a specific directory. Currently, it places them in the root folder/PRINT. This setup is not found on any line in the fsisys or fsiuser files. Is there a configuration I can make to have Documaker place it someplace else? Thanks!
    We are using Documaker Studio Version 12.2.0.21451 Build Aug 8 2013. The workspace however was created with an older version (uses an MRL files rather than an ODBC connection)

    Your question about scripting was as follows:
    Can someone give me a brief explanation of what the lines: "SetGVM("PrtName001" ,file_name ,,"C",254)", "HaveGVM("PRTName001")", and "GVM("PRTName001")" do? I am confused since a DAL script named PDF_NAME is run when I execute GenData but it is not called in any line in the INI file (where is it called). It sets the GVM seen above but it does not reflect immediately when GV1 script and GV2 script are called in GenPrint. However, they are reflected when GV1 is run after POSTTRANSDAL for Batch1. Sorry about the confusing question. These three lines are found in separate DAL scripts.
    First, anytime you want a basic explanation for most DAL functions, I would point you to the help. If you have the script open in the Triggers/Script manager in DMStudio and click on the function name, you should see the help panel reflect the function you click. You can also simply press F1 and find all the DAL help and browse it at your leisure.
    GVM means Global Variable Member (or something like that). These are variables created and used during the server process - GenTrn, GenData, and GenPrint. Each program is responsible for creating the GVMs that it will used and only live within that program. The only way for GVMs to get "passed" to the next program is if these were written to a file that is subsequently loaded by the next program. For instance, the Gendata step creates the Batch (BCH) files mentioned in the other post. The content written to each recipient record in the BCH file is (typically) taken from GVMs. Then when GenPrint loads a particular batch record, those column values are again turned into GVMs. You may not have needed that lesson, but I thought it might be helpful in explaining the DAL rules you questioned.
    HAVEGVM() is used to query whether a GVM actually exists. If it doesn't exist, then there is certainly no way you can get a value from it.
    SETGVM() is used to 1) assign a value to an existing GVM; and 2) optionally create a new GVM if it does not already exist. In your case, the parameters to the SetGVM would appear to be allowing the variable creation identifying that it will hold character ("C") content with a max length of 254 bytes.
    GVM() is a function that returns the value currently assigned to the named GVM.
    So you see that your DAL script is capable of creating a GVM if it does not already exist. From what information you have, I don't know whether that is needed or not. It really depends upon your implementation.
    Your PORT= statements define to run an associated script and that ultimately must be returning the actual starting name to use for that output. Assuming this is coming from GVM values, there's not enough information here to say where they are coming from. These could be taken from a column defined in your BCH files; or could be determine by some field value hidden (or otherwise contained) in your transaction data; or might be queried or created by some other scripting method.

  • Desktop Batch Print Alias for PDF?

    I often use a desktop alias to batch print files by dragging them directly from Finder to the printer's alias. I am wondering, is there a way to set up a similar alias for OS X's print-to-PDF feature?
    I want to drag and drop a batch of files onto an alias and have it print them as PDF's.
    Thanks!

    With your Desktop Printer used for batch printing, in the Printer Options, create a profile, where you select in Output Options Save as File: Format PDF, and save it.
    Then select that profile prior to the process.

  • Batch Printing in Project Pro 2013

    Do I need to use a macro for batch printing in MS Project Pro? If so, where can I find the info on it? Thank you :)

    Hi,
    something like that?
    Sub Print4Meetings()
    ViewApplyEx Name:="&Gantt Chart", ApplyTo:=0
    FilePrint PageBreaks:=False
    ApplyReport Name:="Burndown"
    FilePrint PageBreaks:=False
    End Sub
    Just record a macro while opening all views and reports you want to get printed to see the view names. Important: FilePrint will only open preview, when you do not add any parameters, I chose PageBreaks. More parameters available, see
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/office.vbapj.chm109(v=office.15).aspx.
    Does that help?

  • *bold*Automated Batch Printing

    How do i code automated batch printing.
    I had no idea how to start and I had read up most online help on Google but still I can't figure out how to do automated batch printing in Java
    I am required to read a folder consists of multiple RTF files.
    Its easy to read a single RTF file and print it but how do i read a folder and print everything .
    Another problem would be that the printing done should have courier font and alignment in the RTF file however i had tried different way to read and print the data in the RTF file ,which I could only get either courier font with no alignment or not courier font with alignment , i need both of the courier font and alignment to suit an external application RightFax.
    Thus I had thought of a way to direct print the RTF files from folder , an example will be the application SilentPrint how can i call the window's or Microsoft's office print services ? or is it even possible for Java?
    Thanks a lot if help is provided , at least a little clue of where to start?
    or u at least tell me whether is it possible to code automated batch printing in java ? like what SilentPrint can do

  • Add printers marks for seration

    I need to add marks for the printer to know where to serate. There isn't an object. I need 5 pairs of marks every 70 mm down a long strip. How can I do this?
    Thank you............. lilz

    Create your marks, place them at the start of your file, with them selected hit Enter while on the move tool and move them 70mm, then with that set of marks selected hit Cmd+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (Windows) until you have as many as you need every 70mm.

    Safari 7.0.6, using Adobe Acrobat 11.0.10, isn't rendering pdf files in the Print Preview screen.  Additionally, only a single, blank page prints for a multi-page pdf document.  Any ideas?

    Figured it out.  It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat.  Here's the fix:
    Open Finder/Applications
    Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
    Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
    Quit Safari
    Launch Safari
    Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

  • I have justed upgraded CS2 to CS5. How do I set artboard crop or trim marks for printing?

    I have justed upgraded CS2 to CS5. How do I set artboard crop or trim marks for printing?  It was under the "OBJECTS" menu in CS2, but I can't find it in CS5.

    it actually works the same way but better you don't see it that way but with perhaps more experience you might catch on and say "oh now I see that' all I have to do.
    Multiple artboards, which you did not have in CS 2 , changes the equation.
    When you open a new document you can set up a gangup in the new document dialog then say for a business card then do one business card in the first one.
    Then copy the art and text of that first one and in one command paste that art in all of the artboards with one command, you can then make another artboard that encompasses all the artboards and you now have a gang up say six up you can now print all a once as a gang up or print a range of the artboards or specific artboards.
    As a matter of fact now that you can paste on all artboards with one command AI CS 5 actually has a step and repeat feature that works verticaly and horizontally at the same time. And an improved version is easily had.
    Also since you probably know how many you need of this first artboard then you can simply make one rectangle for for the first artboard and give it a crop area effect and when you do your copy include the rectangle and then paste on all artboards and there you are
    look at the video, see how cool. less complicated not more complicated. And as other users explore this function I bet they come up with even better ideas.
    http://mysite.verizon.net/wzphoto/Artboards.mov
    I am going to make one adjustment here instead of doing a command c to copy the first artboard it would be better to do a command x to cut the first one since the command paste on all artboard does exactly that. So if you do a command c and a command option shift v then you have two rectangles and art and crop marks pasted on top of each other. Probably won't do any harm but might be confusing in the layers panel.

  • Photoshop CC - supplied Jpeg at 6.5"Hx9.5"w. Need to add trim marks for printer at 6"x9". How?

    I have a jpeg which is 6.5" high x 9.5" wide. I need to insert trim marks at 6" x 9" leaving a .125" bleed. I am new to Photoshop but not a complete idiot. I've watched countless videos but don't see how to do this with art already done by someone else.
    Is there anyone who can guide me?

    Both seem appropriate. The issue is, the person creating the original art knew less of the software than I. And I just started.
    The original art she provided is 9.5"wide x 6.5"high. She increased the surface area to allow for .125 bleeds and excess but the image went all the way to the edge of the canvas. I was simply trying to add trims marks for the purpose of cutting in the proper position.
    This was for internal printing on a digital press. Because I would be the only person handling the materials from start to finish (including cutting) I wasn't worried about having to translate the layout on the press sheet.
    I ended up deleting all of the text and stripping the art down to the bare image which I saved and rebuilt the entire art file from scratch, properly with layers and the correct page size. Which worked out great, because the client made changes that I would otherwise been unable to do.
    Thank you all for the information. I'm still a little confused on how to simply add crop marks to someone else' artwork, but I have enough information to figure it out now.

  • Batch Printing for Sales Orders

    Hi all
    Is it possible to have a batch printout job to be set to run on a certain time or just a script to run when you want to print sales orders based on date and on udf then print by selected criterias.
    User Inputs.
    +++ Date range +++
    +++Route ID +++++
    ++++++++++
    The print out must be done based on the Route selected in ascending order. The date is just for filtering.
    Thanks.
    Bongani

    I don't believe we could write any scripts or set such a custom timer for selective printing based on Route.
    The only option available for bulk printing is in Sales A/R > Document Printing... Sales Order
