Additional Applications

My main question is, did my G4 with OS X installed come originally with MS Office? When I bought it from a retailer as a display model a couple of years ago it was on the computer. The reason I ask is I am having a problem all of a sudden with Word starting up. (Worked last night but not tonight.) I could not find a good answer on the Microsoft web site and I am needing to find support. By the way, all of the other Office programs still run ok. The error message is:
The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<Microsoft Word>"
If Office is on my OSX disk, is there a way to repair the program?

Hi Phillip,
The .plist files are preference files for the particular application. Most preference files for applications are in your ~/Library/Preferences folder (where ~ represents your Home folder). You may have been looking in your HD/Library folder.
I have never used Word so I am not sure where their (Microsoft Word) preferences are stored but look there if you haven't already. The preferences will probably be named something like "com.MicrosoftWord.plist or something similar.
You might want to do a search with finder of the HD for either "word" or Microsoft and see if any "Word" associated .plists come up.

    This makes me think you are developing the application. Try the development forums - I'll bet someone there has seen this.

    Anytime I try to upload an application or anything into my phone I get this message....
    "No additional applications designed for your device were found."
    This is even when I try to download apps from this website and put them on my phone... someone please help me!!

    hi, i had downloaded some themes for my 8700g. and i got the no additional applications error. after doing some research i found out that it could be due to different versions of the OS on device and desktop. since my OS is 4.2.1 i downloaded the same version for the desktop too. earlier i had 4.2.2 on my desktop but the problem remains. and i cant download those themes. pls help. va

    I've been having trouble transfering any files to my handset with a constant return of the error "No additional applications designed for your device were found."
    Does anybody know of a patch/work arround for this?

    We're installing NW 7.3 High Availability System in our landscape, sucessfully we installed First Cluster Node, Database Instance, Additional Cluster Node and Primary Application Server Instance. But during the Additional Application Server instance installation we're facing some issue. Could you any help us on the below issue.

    You're right, if the installation unable to create the user and folder in the node2 means... your suggestion is applicable but I crossed those phase... I'm in the phase of "Install Instance basics of J01".
    Do you need to do the copy and paste method, eventhough we're in Install Instance basics of J01 phase.

    We have an existing CE 7.11 system installed. After installation, we have updated the SPS level to 04 recently. The CE 7.11 system is already part of a NWDI track configuration since many months and developers are already using since then.
    Now, we need to install an additional application server (dialog instance) for the same system.
    I want to know: Do I need to carry out any further post-installation steps after installation of the new app server?
    Does it matter that the system is already at a certain SPS level including an updated kernel? Will there be any issues at all?
    Basically, what else should I do after the installation of the app server is completed?

  • Leopard Install: Additional Applications & Other Topics!

    Greetings,
    I have completed smooth upgrade to Leopard from 10.4.10.
    Works very well. Had to reset a few things.
    1. Install DVD included "Additional Applications" features things I already had: iTunes, Address Book, Mail, etc...
    I suppose I do NOT have to go thru re-installation of those apps from the Leopard DVD?
    2. I Did take a look at the Printer Drivers also listed in the Additional stuff on the DVD. Still NO drivers for the Dell good line of printers. Dell the ENEMY or do some other drivers work for those printers - Mine is a Dell 3100 color laser. Anyone knows?
    3. Settings com parameters is better than used to be, but getting connected to a printer connected to a Windows machine on a network is STILL quite cumbersome.

  • How to do selective restore of additional applications on L series

    Hopefully, this won't be necessary, but it's nice to try and find out how just in case it is needed later on.
    I know how to do a complete restore to the factory state with eaither the recovery partition or the DVDs.
    However, after a lot of effort to customize has been spent, most customers wouldn't want to go backj to factory state just because they inadvertently got rid of (or damaged) one of the additional Toshiba applications.
    Using a third party backup/restore program (and excellent one is Acronis True Image) might help in restoring any files, but not if an actual installation process is needed to restore everything properly in Windows eyes.
    Is there any way to selectivly "reinstall" specific applications?

    Thanks to PauPau and Kearny frr your responses.
    As I mentioned and PauPau suggested, I do have a good backup restore program that would do a complete disk image restore if necessary. I was thinking more of a possible need to reinstall a specific Toshiba application.
    I have gotten this laptop for my son, and hopefully he will think and ask before removing any applications. I have the source for all the ones I added for him, so they wouldn't be a problem. But he may look at something and think he'll never use it and uninstall it to save space (why with a 500G hard drive and an external one as well, I don't know ;-)).
    The type of applications I was referring to are the collection of items under "TOSHIBA" in the Start Menu which is expanded further in several places, most noticeably under "Utilities". And to answer your other question, these are all of the preinstalled ones.
    I didn't find any reference to individual applications her on the Toshiba site, but I did find what might be a collection of everything; possibly what is called the TVAP or Toshiba Value Added Package.
    Is everything found in that one download? And if so, can you select individual items to reinstall them, or do you have to reinstall everything?
    Wait....I think I answered one of my own questions......the description of the TVAP lists only a few of those applications, and further down, it doesn't include any Satellite models in the list. So I guess I'm still searching.
    I'm hoping I won't need to, and because I believe in the old rule: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I don't want to experiment before I give him the laptop.

    OK. after having my morning OJ ;-), I did finally find the right pages where the list of individual applications are found, Now what I have to do is bookmark that page or write down how I found it in case I do need it later.

  • CC won't launch, can't download additional applications

    Creative Cloud was working fine a few days ago, and I was able to download Photoshop and Illustrator but now the program will not launch. I have just gotten up in the middle of the night to download the rest of the suite (I'm on satellite internet and get free data downloads between midnight and 5 a.m.) but apparently I no longer have the ability to access CC files. On another thread, everyone solved their problems by deleting input manager files, but I cannot find a folder with that name. I have a folder called library/input methods, but it is empty. I am running OS 10.10.2 on a brand new iMac. This is beyond frustrating.

    Depends on what codec the video files are. You SHOULD be able to use quicktime. But I have found Quicktime to not be able to play all codecs.

  • Addit application not adding applications....

    I have done everything as it tells me - and it's told me that it will add after during next sync and it doesn't.  I found another post on this (This was the thread: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=software&thread.id=29898#U156022 ) and the solution for that particular issue was to go to the main website that offers the Addit app but I run a Mac and that didn't work for me - it won't run on my computer - does anyone have a solution for a Mac?
