Additional Barcode readings in LM46

Hi all!!!,
          I`m using the Picking & Packing transaction from std RF functionality, tx LM46. I was wondering if there is any way to have the system asks the user to enter (read the barcode)  the storage bin or the material as confirmation that the process has been carried out successfully. Since it seems very easy for the user to make a mistake in the operation if the only input that they have to do is to press Save in order to mark the material and Continue to confirm the TO and create the handling unit.

    There are typically two reasons why a Barcode does not render on a form:
    The barcode has exceeded it's capacity.  If the barcode is designed to hold 1,000 characters (for example) and the .rawValue is 1,100 characters then the barcode will gray-out in Reader 7.x or will simply disappear with Reader 8.x and higher.  In this case you need to adjust your code so that the capacity is not exceeded.  Try reducing the number of fields included in the data and DO NOT use XML, use tab-delimited data capture and convert this to XML when you decode the data.  You can also add additional barcodes to your form.  You are not limited to a single barcode on your form.
    You are filling out the fill-and-print PDF barcoded form within the free Adobe Reader and have not properly licensed the technology.  If your users are filling in your barcoded form using the free Adobe Reader you need to license Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms from Adobe.  If you do not the barcodes will disappear in Reader 8.x and higher.

    Hi,
    you cannot use custom barcodes. Only barcodes available in the library can be used.
    You have to wait till sap releases upgrades with additional barcodes.

  • QM Physical Sample Numbers to xMII

    I am trying to get the Physical Sample numbers for an Inspection Lot out of SAP and into xMII for additional barcode label processing. I can see the information I need in the SAP R/3 client but am unable to get it to xMII.
    I am using the JCO interface and using BAPI_INSPLOT_GETLIST to get the inspection lot # for a Production Order and have tried passing that into BAPI_INSPLOT_GETDETAILS, BAPI_INSPOPER_GETLIST and BAPI_INSPOPER_GETDETAIL but none of them seem to have access to the physical sample records. Can anyone help me with a RFC, BAPI or user Exit that I can use to get this data?

    I have tried using BAPI_INSPCHAR_GETRESULT but I can only get information if the results for that char have ben posted. I am trying to get the physical sample numbers to send to a barcode label application so we can track the samples thru the testing machine. The requirements are for multiple lables in different sizes so we are not printing these labels from SAP.
    For each inspection lot\physical sample drawing, we generate 30 physical samples. (1 master, 2 pooled, 27 retention) I need to get these numbers out of SAP to print them.
    If I run transaction QA3 from the client and select Samples (Physical Samples (Shift + F2)) from the menu, I can see the list I want before any results have been entered.

    We have one SCC code with multiple sku's.  From an automated production posting perspective with PLC scanners how do companies differentiate between different sku's?

    I have met following solutions:
    1. adding additional barcode with SKU instead of SCC code
    2. adding additional barcode connecting: SCC code plus SKU code in one barcode.
    Of course, it needs some additional implementation/organisational work to change current settings.

  • Heretic here! Have just inherited a used IPAD 2 and work on Windows 7PC Home premium. Can they interact?

    Have just inherited a used IPAD 2 and work on PC windows 7 Home premium.
    Would like capability of using IPAD as a "dumb terminal" occasionally to connect to PC to do scut work while otherwise engaged.  Possible?  Not interested in films and music so much as being able to enter home booking system etc. 
      If Yes, what do I need to make it so? 

    iOS has no file system directly accessible to users and cannot really be used as a 'bridge' to control or operate your machine's operating system (whether OSX or Windows).
    When you say, "enter home booking system," there are plenty of iOS applications which would be suitable for creating home inventory system and spreadsheets. Applications such as dropbox can be used to transfer files between the device and your machine.
    Additionally, barcode scanning apps exist where you can, for example, bulk scan ISBN's, transfer the csv file, and subsequently input them into a spreadsheet on your machine.

  • Invalid readings with additional inputs

    I am using a PCI-MIO-16E-4 daq. I have three 0-100 mV input channels and three 0-10V inputs. If the 0-10V channels are read simultaneously with 0-100mV channels, the 0-100mV inputs are incorrect. Is this a common problem? How do I fix it?

    It seems that the gain setting is not set right.
    For the channels that are 0-100 mv, set the gain to min=0, max=100mV
    and
    for the 0 to 10 v, set it to min=0, max=10 volts
    There could be issues (with settling time)at high scan rates when the gains are set differently, but for most part, it should work.

  • Is there a vi for acquiring bar code readings from a scanner?

    I need to acquire at least 3 readings from multiple transducers and have their serial number placed and stored in my vi. Should I use a digital indicator, and if so, what will be my input. Is there a VI that handles this task, already built into Lab View 6.1?

    It all depends on what kind of scanner you are using and how it communicates. If the scanner communicates using serial then it would be easy to write a VI to recieve the information. The protocol for a scanner is not likely to be very complicated.
    There are two instrument drivers on the Instrument Driver network for reading barcodes. Go to www.ni.com/drivers and then click on Search for a Driver. Only fill in the additional keywords and search for "bar code" (include the quotes to search for the phrase). You will find two instrument drivers (MS 810 and MS 850).

  • Confusion with the use of PDF417 Barcodes

    I am trying to get clarification on what is required to utilize the Acrobat Designer to create a form that creates a PDF417 barcode. Here is the scenario:
    We would like to create a form with Designer (bundled with Acrobat 7.0 Professional)that will be used as an index sheet for a document scanning system.
    The form would contain one or more fields that a user would complete using the standard Acrobat 7.0 Reader that they can download from Adobe. When the user completes the data entry into the fields, they will print out the form (containing the 2D barcode (PDF417).
    The form would be scanned and put through recognition software that is supposed to ready PDF417 2D barcodes.
    I have read through the literature and have seen inconsistent representations regarding the ability of a user to use the Acrobat reader to complete the form and print it with the PDF417 barcode.
    In one of the forum postings a user was told that they needed certain decoder software from Adobe or extensions.
    I am not clear if the user filling out a form using Acrobat 7.0 reader, which generates the PDF417 barcode supposedly, can be read by an application which supports that barcode type. Or, if this is a special type of PDF417 barcode that has some additional attributes that requires special software from Adobe to be recognized.
    Please explain how I accomplish the objective set forth above.

    It looks like I scanned over your email a little too quickly and missed a
    VERY important point. You mention that your form will be "bundled with Acrobat 7.0 Professional". This is VERY important.
    In fact, you will need to license nothing else from Adobe. You DO NOT need Reader Extensions because you are deploying Acrobat Professional on the work stations that will be filling in your forms. You do not need to "turn on" hidden functionality of the Free Reader if you are using Acrobat Pro. You already have all the functionality you need.
    Second, when you fill in a Barcoded Form with Acrobat Professional the PDF417 Barcode that is rendered in your form will be a 100% standard PDF417 Barcode. But do not turn on compression. When filled in - in Acrobat - the Barcode is rendered so that it can be read by ANY Decoder that can read PDF417. However, if you enable compression you will need to use the Adobe Decoder. If you start decoding and see you are getting lower than a 99.9% decode rate, take a look at buying the Adobe Decoder. Not the whole "Barcoded Forms" license, just the Decoder.
    Again,
    if you are using Acrobat to fill in these forms, you have nothing else to buy. If you want to deploy these forms with the Free Reader then you will need to license Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms and possibly ARES.

    I am currently creating a form in Adobe Livecycle ES2. I want to put a PDF417 2D barcode on the form containing the data of the fields in the form. The customer should be able to use Adobe reader to fill out the form and the barcode should update with the field information. However to do this i need to purchase a license for LiveCycle Barcoded Forms. In order to get this license it seems that I need to purchase Livecycle reader Extensions ES2. However the product is not available online and when contacting Adobe no one knows how I can purchase this product. I have been in contact with: Adobe customer service Denmark, Adobe support Denmark, Adobe sales Denmark, Adobe customer service Sweden, Adobe Support Sweden, Adobe Sales UK, Adobe support UK, Dustin Denmark (Adobe reseller).
    Does anyone know how to purchase this product or how much it costs to purchase?
    An additional question i have is if there is a product that works in a similar way for Adobe Acrobat X Pro? Or do i also need Livecycle reader Extensions ES2 to unlock user rights for barcoded forms made with Acrobat X Pro?

  • How do I generate a data merge in InDesign from an excel spreadsheet which includes a barcode

    Can you please advise if the following process is possible within InDesign CS 5.5? (Mac OS 10.8.2).
    We need to create a data merge that includes a barcode. The data merge is for several thousand records.
    We have a customer-supplied Excel spreadsheet that contains seven fields, one of which is a number that ultimately needs to print as a barcode when we make the data merge in InDesign.
    As you would expect, the conventional six fields data merge perfectly - but we can't find a way to make the barcode print correctly within the data merge.
    We have investigated several possible solutions without success.
    Some solutions suggest a plug-in for Excel to convert the number into a barcode whilst still in the spreadsheet - but this doesn't come across correctly when we import the CSV file into the InDesign data merge.
    We have investigated certain third party software applications but none provide the full solution we require. Some, for example, appear to create the barcode within the Excel spreadsheet but don't produce the barcode correctly when we data merge in InDesign; and some will allow us to create a one-off barcode within InDesign but have no automated way of retrieving the thousands of Excel numbers and turning them into barcodes.
    We have also come across possible 'font' solutions but have had no success with these either.
    For a previous job we needed to produce we outsourced to a specialist mailing company, who assured us they produced the whole job (very quickly) within InDesign. They, understandably, won't tell us how they did it. But, given the speed with which they produced the job for us, we imagine - with the correct software - the whole process is easy to do.
    Can you please advise?

    Thanks again for your reply and your help with this.
    I've downloaded the barcode font from the link you supplied.
    I've tried three tests - and seem much closer to getting what we need. But I've come up against a couple of issues.
    TEST 1 - almost just to see if the downloaded font worked, I simply data merged our source csv file and applied the downloaded barcode font to the serial number in ID. Probably unsurprisingly, this produced a perfectly printed barcode - that wouldn't scan.
    TEST 2 - I manually added asterisks before and after the serial number in the first couple of fields and then tried the same process as TEST 1. It produced a perfectly printed barcode which this time DID scan correctly - but obviously the barcode had asterisks on it which I don't want. I just want the serial number. And with thousands of serial numbers we need the addition of the asterisks to happen automatically (which is where your text editor process seems the perfect solution, if we could get that to work).
    TEST 3 - Noting your comments about using parenthesis around the serial number, I followed your example of (123456). But Excel won't let me type a parenthesis. It lets me type the parenthesis but then instantly substitutes it with a - (hyphen) before the number in the actual serial number cell and no character at all after the number.
    If you have any suggestions or solutions for any of the above they'd be gratefully received! Thanks again for all your help with this.

    General definition of Bar code:
    Bar codes are standardized characters of a symbol made up of a group of lines and spaces that can be recognized by an optical scanner. Bar codes uniquely identify article data, production numbers or transport units, for example. They can also contain additional information such as batch number, expiration date or weight.
    Example
    In the Logistics Execution System (LES), certain field entries can be represented by bar codes and printed on the transfer documents. This simplifies certain data entry processes such as order confirmation.
    Type of bar code:
    Bar codes are based on a binary principle and consist of a series of stripes/gaps of different widths. The sequence of the stripes or gaps results in an (alpha) numeric statement. Bar codes are read optically. Due to varying requirements, bar codes may differ with regard to the following aspects:
    •     printer tolerance
    •     decoding tolerance
    •     character width
    •     automatic check
    •     number of characters
    Steps to implement bar code in the smartform:
    •     Use the transaction code smartstyle. Give a suitable name .Choose create.
    •     In change mode of the Smart Style select the Character formats node and choose Create.
    •     In the Character format field enter a two-character character key.
    •     Select the desired attributes of the Bar Code on the tab Standard Settings.
    •     Choose Activate.
    •     Assign the character format to the field or character string in the smartform.
    •     Activate the smartform.
    •     Test the same.

    PRINTER DRIVERS AND DEVICE TYPES:
    In R/3, a distinction is made between "printer driver" and "device type". The device type consists of all the attributes defined for an output device. For correct access, these must be made known in the R/3 system. They cover aspects such as control commands for font selection, page size, character set selection, character set used and so on. One of these attributes is the printer driver to be used by SAPscript (R/3 forms processor) for this particular printer.
    If your printer is not specified in the list below, ask the manufacturer if the printer is compatible with one of the defined printers or if it can be used with another emulation (for example, Postscript).
    If the printer is not compatible or cannot be operated using an emulation, you must create a new device type (if the printer is not compatible). To print from SAPscript, you must choose one of the existing printer drivers.
    At present, there are five SAPscript printer drivers. They include:
    for HP-PCL5 (for example, HP Laserjet 3,4,5,6 series)
    for PostScript printers (PS level 2)
    for PRESCRIBE (for example, Kyocera FS-1500)
    for device types SWIN/SAPWIN/xxSWIN/xxSAPWIN
    for all other models.
    The last driver is known as the "standard driver". It cannot provide absolutely precise positioning on the paper and does not support proportional fonts. Printer drivers are relevant for forms output with SAPscript. For the output of ABAP lists special printer drivers are only used as of Release 4.5A. They are anchored in the C kernel and are developed and maintained exclusively by SAP.
    In the spool environment, device types refer not only to printers but also other output devices, for example, fax machines. Device types support specific printers or printer models. Device type definitions are stored completely in tables and can be individually adapted, modified or enhanced. If SAP performs such an adjustment for a customer, it constitutes a consulting service, and is generally charged seperately. On the other hand, the list of device types, above all in conjunction with SAP's hardware partners, is continually expanded.
    COMPATIBLE PRINTERS:
    Some printer models have been so successful on the market that many OEM products, clones and compatibles are also listed. You can often use compatible printers with R/3 by entering the printer definition of the original. Since complete compatibility is extremely rare, SAP can offer no assurances regarding the usability of compatible printers. This also applies to follow-up models made by the original producer.
    LIST OF PRINTERS:
    This is the list of device types supplied by SAP in different Releases. Most of these device types use "Western European" or "North American" character sets. Some device types in newer Releases however, also support other character sets and language areas such as Russian or Czech.
    The device types named in this list are supported in the standard R/3 System as of the release mentioned.
    If an OCR-A font (prerequisite for check printing) or an OCR-B font is supported in the R/3 device types, this is indicated. However, this generally requires additional font cassettes or firmware for the printer involved, since few printers have an OCR-A font "built in." For additional information about this, contact the printer manufacturer.

    SWIN
    Generic device type for printing/faxing using MS Windows with SAPlpd. It is available as of Release 3.1H. Device type SWIN differs from SAPWIN in the layout of X_... formats for ABAP/4 list printing. The font size and line spacing were adjusted, particularly for color list printing.

    IBM239X
    Device type for the IBM 238X/239X Plus line printer series from Lexmark. This includes the types IBM 2380 Plus, IBM 2381 Plus, IBM 2390 Plus, IBM 2391 Plus. The IBM emulation and character set IBM 850 are used.
    IBM4226
    Device type for the IBM 4226 line printers from Lexmark. The IBM emulation and the character set IBM 850 are used.
    IBM4232
    Device type for the IBM 4232-302 line printer from IBM. The 4202 emulation and the character set IBM 2 are used. OCR-A/OCR-B are included and supported. Barcode printing is not supported.
    IBM6408
    Device type for the IBM 6408-A00 line printer from IBM. The PropPrinter III XL emulation and the character set IBM 850/IBM 2 are used. OCR-A/OCR-B are included and supported. Barcode printing is not supported.
    IBMAFP
    Device type for IBM's external SAP2AFP converter. The R/3 spool output is converted to AFPDS format and passed to IBM AFP software. IBMAFP can only be used in conjunction with spool-exit (access method Z when defining the device type). Selection of printers directly connected to R/3 is not possible. IBMAFP must be used for 240 pel AFP printers.
    Character set is ISO 8859-1 (Latin 1). OCR-A and OCR-B are supported, as well as barcodes.
    IBMAFP is for use on R/3 UNIX and Windows NT platforms.
    IBMEFP is the proper device type for AS/400 R/3 Platforms and uses the EBCDIC character set.
    IBMAFP3
    Device type for IBM's external SAP2AFP converter that converts the R/3 spool output to an AFPDS format and sends it to IBM AFP software.IBMAFP3 can be used only in conjunction with spool-exit (access method Z when defining the device type). Selection of printers connected via R/3 is not possible. IBMAFP3 must be used for 300 pel AFP printers.
    Character set is ISO 8859-1 (Latin 1). OCR-A and OCR-B are supported, as well as barcodes.
    IBMAFP3 is for use on UNIX and Windows NT platforms.
    IBMEFP3 is the proper device type for AS/400 R/3 Platforms and uses the EBCDIC character set.
    IBMSCS
    Device Type IBMSCS supports the "basic IBMSNA Character String" data stream for printers that are connected under IBM OS/400. IBMSCS is only supported for the use under SAP R/3 on hardware platforms IBM AS/400.
    LX4039
    Device type for the Lexmark laser printer series 4039. OCR-A/OCR-B are included in the printer definition. However, the printer requires an additional firmware/typeface cassette. "HP LASERJET barcodes & MORE FONT CARTRIDGE" is required. Barcode printing from R/3 is not supported.

    SNI4011

    SNI20XX8
    Device type for the Siemens-Nixdorf 2050-8, 2075-8 and 2090-8 laser printers (HP-LaserJet emulation). For operation with R/3, you need to obtain a special font diskette for the printer from SNI. This contains the fonts required, including OCR-A and OCR-B. Barcode printing from R/3 is not supported.
    MT2033

OCR-A/ OCR-B are contained in the device type, however, the printer needs extra firmware or an extra font cartridge. The "HP LASERJET BarCodes & MORE FONT CARTRIDGE" or a corresponding SIMM module is needed for this. The SIMM module "JetCAPS Intelligent Barcode SIMM" is a requirement for printing barcodes from R/3 with printers of the HP LaserJet 4 series and is supported.
    KYOFS170
    Device type for the Kyocera laser printer FS-1700. OCR fonts are not supported. Barcode printing is supported.
    Device type KYOFS170 offers improved output of ABAP print lists by using a special PRESCRIBE-II-printer driver and can therefore only be used in Releases as of 4.5A.
    POST2
    New device type for PostScript-level-2-printer which can be used alternatively to POSTSCPT. Barcode printing and OCR printing from R/3 is not supported.
    Device type POST2 offers an improved output of ABAP print lists by using a special PostScript-L2-printer driver and can therefore only be used in Releases as of 4.5A.

    IXLINK
    Device type for the external XLink/SAP translator of Xerox, which translates R/3 SAPGOF data to Xerox format and transfers data to the Xerox production printer. IXLINK can only be used if the XLink/SAP translator is being used. You cannot access printers, which are connected via R/3!

  • Re-Using XML file from decode barcode + extract xml process

    I was hoping someone could put me in the right direction here. I am decodeing the information stored in a 2D Bar code and sending this information to an XML file, then I am trying to combine that xml file with a blank PDF template but the process is failing beacuse there are some additional tag fields the XML data from the  Decode->Extract XML process.
    The XML file from the decode process gives the structure below..notice therer some extra tags (lines 2- 4)

    So the xml output of the Decode barcode + Extract XML process has three extra lines of tag. Is there a way I could use a process within liveCycle to clean out those three lines in real-time before sending the xml to be recombined with the PDF template.

    What you may do is to use the SetValue and its xpath builder functions to "serialize" the xml into string, "substring" to remove the extra tags, and "concat" to add the extra tags and then "deserialize" it again to an xml to be merged with your form.
