"Additional Content" downloads can be continued!

Here's something I wasn't aware of until I just happened to fumble into it:
The other day, while downloading some of Logic Pro X's "Additional Content" instruments at a place that had free Wi-Fi (I have a limited montly allowance of 5Gb through Verizon), I had to stop about halfway through since it was time to leave. Since there's no way of actually pausing these downloads, I just went offline to force-stop it and figured I'd have to start all over again on a future occasion. ...
Surprise! The next time I went online (which was at another place with free Wi-Fi) and opened Logic Pro, a "Resume Content Download?" window popped up, giving a choice to either continue, "decide later" or cancel. Of course, I selected to continue and then the download finished from where it had left off! Nice!
So, apparently, though there appears to be no actual, official (as far as I can tell), obvious way of doing it:
The Logic Pro X "Additional Content" downloads can be continued later!
By the way, I've now done this several times, so it appears to not just be a fluke, though it is kind of scary every time I try it.  :-)
Hopefully, this can be helpful for others who have trouble finding the time or accessability to download some of the larger instruments all at once. Also, hope this works for everyone the way it has worked for me.

Thanks.Thats big help for sure.Time for a download break now.

The additional content downloads and installs, but it won't show up in my Logic Pro X. I cannot find the "Library" folder where this additional content is  downloaded to and can't seem to activate the new loops and instruments in my Logic Pro X (i.e. loops are still greyed out). Any solutions?

  • Additional content downloads in Logic not showing up in library

I am trying to download and install the additional content downloads in Logic which from what I understand includes Jam Packs. I have downloaded and installed everything multiple times but cannot see it appear in the Logic library and cannot use them. Help!

I'm not sure how to delete a thread (if you can), but it now works. Logic had to "Index" and restart, and they now appear in library. Good luck to anyone else who searched for answers with this problem!

Nancy O- thank you for your responses and particularly the information about serverside includes.
On your second post, you point out correctly that the link to the image is through the Library/images.  That is exactly how the library item appears in the code in my web page.
Further, the code in the library file appears and is saved as  "images/picture-dot-png" but when it the library item is inserted into html code it appears "Library/images/picture-dot-png".
Perhaps I am missing an intermediate step?  Are the library items compiled in some way?
I'm willing to take a look at server side includes, but I'd sure like to get my dreamweaver working right.
    Thanks again.

You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation

  • Garage Band Additional Content Download

    Hi there,
I know this type of things has been around on the forums but I haven't been able to find an answer as yet.
Having upgraded recently to Mavericks and therefore GarageBand 10, I bought and downloaded the 'Additional Content' package, however, even after it says it's downloaded it and installed it successfully, it still continues to try and download it again.
I've been just letting it do it's thing whilst at work (using their internet as the content is 10g a time!) and it always says it's successfully downloaded and installed the content. Indeed, it's all there and working in GarageBand - I'm actually using it. However, it still wants to download it over and over again.
It somehow stoped trying a while back but then one time I accidently clicked 'Restore Purchase' in the GarageBand menu and it started it off again - endlessly downloading - or trying to - additional content.
I read somewhere that there is an issue with some of the new iLife-related software not recognising when it's downloaded all the stuff. So, I guess, if that's the problem here, I just need to find a way to cancel the download. There's no 'cancel' function anywhere though. I've tried disconnecting the internet, but it keeps trying again next time you open GarageBand. I guess I'm hoping someonw may have some sort of fix where you delete a certain preference or file that keeps looking for the download or something.
    Hope someone can help.

    Three things to try:
Resume the download during the night, when there is less traffic:  Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
Reset the App Store from the Debug menu, so it will forget the extra download. See Old Toad's post here on how to enable the "Debug" menu:  Re: iPhoto update 'paused'
After a long search and checking the machine (verifying keychain certs and a lot of other stuff), I discovered the following:
The App Store app has a debug menu that may be turned on via:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    in Terminal.app.
The 'Reset Application' debug menu option solved my problem. Maybe this will help someone else.

  • MainStage additional content downloads even after it should have finished?

    Hi,
After seeing MainStage for so cheap, I jumped at the chance. But now when I try to download additional content, I've hit a snag that isn't exactly covered in any other question.
What's going on? I've restared, reinstalled, and I have enough disk space. If something's gone wrong I have no idea how to restart the process, can anyone suggest anything? And if something has indeed gone wrong, is there any way to salvage this download because I've already destroyed my bandwidth as it is.

Thanks.Thats big help for sure.Time for a download break now.

  • Issue with additional content download for Garageband 10

I bought the additional sounds and drummers for Garageband 10 when it was released. Everything went smoothly, it downloaded and I had no problems. Then Apple released more content in March and I'm having problems with the download.
I started the download and it was nearly complete, but then alerted me that I was out of disk space. Garageband cancelled the download since it couldn't finish, but apparently it didn't release the rest of the download. The unfinished update is somewhere on my computer taking up space and I have no idea where it is. I tried uninstalling Garageband completely but only 1 GB of space was freed, evidently it only removed the app itself and not the sounds.
Now whenever I start Garageband, it prompts me to download the additional content but then tells me there's not enough space to install it. I've deleted just about every file in my Library folder related to Garageband and it's not giving me any space back so I must be missing something. Where does Garageband store these additional sounds? I'm trying to get rid of everything, I don't want any of the sounds on my computer anymore.

If that is the case, you must be dangerously low on disk space on your system drive. Never let the free space drop below 10GB at least, better 20GB free spacce. Otherwise you may experience a considerable drop in performance, if teh disk space decreasing more, risk crashes and data loss.

GarageBand installs the instruments and loops in the Instrument Library and the Loop Library:  Check these folders:
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
If you delete any of tehse folders, GarageBand will not work any more. Are you sure you want to uninstall GarageBand completely?

  • When i try and download some items i get the error message that that say that the download can't continue because i need a later version of Firefox I have 5.0 currently installed on my PC. one such download was the Google toolbar

I have a dell 320 optiplex 1.80 GHz. as stated above when I try and download certain items i get an error message essentially telling me that my version of Firefox is not compatible with ?(item i'm trying to download) the most recent was Google toolbar. the irony of it all is that I have version 5.0 installed so not unless I miss something when I initially installed Firefox 5.0 would be the latest version

If you don't already have the "Google Toolbar" why would you want it, it is a problematic extension as are most third party toolbars. I would expect that anything that just about anything that you would use it for can be done with a bookmarklet. As for searching, the builtin Firefox search bar is wonderful you can add or create search engines for it.
Google Toolbar (the second link tells you how you run it)

  • Can I transfer MainStage additional content form one mac to another

If I have mainstage on an iMac and buy a Macbook pro to use live do I have to download the additional content or can I transfer it form my iMac to my Macbook Pro? If yes, where is the additional content? I also run Logic Pro on my iMac so I probably have many instruments/lopps that are specific to that app.

    unfortunately..
i installed GarageBand on my main account on my MBP, but created another account dedicated to music — with a lot of conveniences like Reminders and WiFi and Spotlight  turned off for efficiency.  i had to download the extra content again.  i even moved it over from my iMac which was downloaded under the same Apple ID. i ended up deleting that account and created a new one and had to do it all over again.  ***** since i am on satellite and can only use that amount of bandwidth between 2-8am.
i'd like to know if it ia possible as well.

  • How to install additional content from Download

I purchased the Master Collection CS4 and downloaded the files. It had one main Master Collection install (.dmg) and several additional content downloads for various programs. The main instal worked great. But I can't figure out how I'm supposed to install the additional content. After opening the .dmg files there are no "setup" files within them. They just have fonts and graphics and things like that. I noticed on the fonts it has a option to install one-by-one, but that would take forever. Am I supposed to drag and drop these files into their program's application folder on my computer? I read everything (I think) and it doesn't say. Can somebody help? Thank you.

    Adrian,
In other on-line downloads, where one had more than one file for the installation, i.e. Functional Content, the files were ZIP'ed and had to be un-Zip'ed with the "folder structure" checked. This would then Extract all files in their proper folders. It was within these folders that the installer files could be found. I'm not sure how this might have changed with CS4 though.

  • Additional content not downloading on logic pro?

I originally ticked all the boxes on the additional content downloads and off it went downloading away. But as each pack gets right to the end it sticks either with a mb less than complete or all the mb/gb appears to have been downloaded, then a window pops up saying Logic unable to download. I cancelled the download and restarted logic so I could just tick one box at a time thinking this would help, but it reverted to downloading 3 packs at a time again! Is this a common problem, any ideas? Gaz

    On every case I have come across this problem, it has been determined that the problem is being caused either by;
The person's Internet Service Provider (ISP) limiting the max size of file that can be downloaded from the internet.. eitehr by throttling or simply by stopping the download. As the additional files are quite large, you may want to look further into this with your ISp to check this is not the case.
    or.....
The system HD drive is close to being full. Check you have enough free space on your system drive to download these files...
    Good luck.

  • Error while installing Logic Pro Additional Content HELP!!!!!!!!

Hello, I've recently purchased Logic Pro 9.1.8 from the Appstore on my new MacBook Pro (Mid 2012).
The App installed fine and so did the 2 GB obligatory download on the first launch. But then I downloaded the Logic Pro and Mainstage additional content (4.6
Gb) and then when it started installing, the install window in Logic simply disappeared, I thought it had finished installing, so I checked the Additional content
download menu and it was still unchecked (and without the "Installed" sign on the right). Having copied the package on my external hard drive for backup, I
recopied it on my mac and tried to install, but the installer then displayed the following message: An error occurred while extracting files from the package.
The Log file also included: "The file couldn’t be opened because it isn’t in the correct format."
There isn't an Apple Store in my country.
I'm running on Lion 10.7.5, with 420Gb of free space, please HELP!!!!!!!!

Solved this by downloading the file again.

  • Once per month additonal content download

i sure appreciate the once per month additional content download but where does it go and why don't they just do it thru an update?  every time it takes over 2 hrs. and then for installation it says 5 seconds but takes another, at least, 1/2 hr. to 1 hr.
i never figure out what the new content is.  is there any way to find out?
    thanks

You might want to try re-indexing spotlight and your system drive in case the index itself has become corrupted in some way.... as Logic uses the spotlight index to locate everythingt it uses....
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
    Click Spotlight.
    Click the Privacy tab.
Press the + button and select your system hard drive and then press Choose
If prompted for confirmation, click OK.
Remove the system drive item you just added to the list by clicking it and then clicking the minus ("-") button. This then forces the reindex to take place...
    Close Spotlight preferences.
Note: This may take a couple of hours or more... to reindex the system drive depending on the speed of your drive/mac and how much data you have stored on there.... so you might want to do it overnight for example.
One other thought.. you are not using any of the automatic cache/settings cleaning apps like Onyx for example are you? if so, stop....   OS X these days,  cleans up its own caches without the need for these sort of apps and sometimes clearing out caches or other settings etc.. messes other things up....

  • Im a Logic Pro X new user and Im having trouble once I download the additional content. I dont know how to use it. Is used as a plug in or what? Anyone who can help me I will be very greatful

Although I can download the additional content im not able to use it as i dont know if this should appear as a new plug in or an audio unit.

The additional content relates to the stuff that is already included with Logic. So, for example, when you download extra kits for Drummer, they go into the folder that has the So-Cal kit and the other kit that downloads when you do the intial install of Logic.
Same with Bass instruments, Guitar instruments, Orchestral stuff. If you had a look at what came with Logic in the initial install, and then looked in those same places afterwards, there's a whole bunch more stuff in there.
