2. EWM can be SAP EWM as an Add-On to SAP ERP or as SAP EWM as Part of SAP SCM. So in either case you will need a back end ERP (SAP ERP) and if you have SAP EWM as Part of SAP SCM then you will additionally need SAP SCM also.

Addition SCM Application Server on AIX with CI & DB on HP-UX

Hi Gurus,
We are facing problem in starting the SCM 4.1 application server on AIX 6.1
/usr/sap/SQ1/SYS/exe/run/R3trans: Syntax error at line 1: `)' not expected.
CI & DB Instance are on HP-UX 11.23.
What things to keep in mind when doing such hetrogenous Installation.

The above error has been resolved by having the separate /sapmnt/<SID>
directory on CI & Application Server with Kernel on different OS .
But Still i am getting the error while connecting R3trans -d.

Addition of New KF in SNP PA (SCM 7.0)

Dear All,
When we need to add a new key figure in SNP planning are we need to deactivate the planning area, add the new key figure and activate the planning area. But I heard that in SCM 7.0 we can add the new key figures without deactivating the planning area. Please let me know is that possible? If so how can I do it?

Hi Siva,
In transaction /sapapo/msdp_admin, select the planning area
and right click on it, and click on change key figure settings,
then it will take you to change mode, wherein you need to go
to append mode and do the changes.
I would suggest, please carry out the changes in testing
environment and test thoroughly and if successful, transport
the changes to production environment to avoid any com
errors or loss of data

Getting an error "Customer could not be determined" for IDOCs in SCM 7.0

Hi Friends,
I am executing the report RSMIPROACT in ECC 6.0 system to publish Demand and Stocks into the SCM 7.0 system.
The IDOC is processed without any errors in ECC 6.0 . However, in the SCM 7.0 system , the IDOC fails with the error.
I have noticed that 2 things .
1. E1ADRE1 field is NOT being sent by the ECC system .
2. I get the same error even if I manually add this field and add value 300 or 301 for the qualifier field.
Has anybody faced this problem before ?

Customer could not be determined
Message no. /SAPAPO/EDI010
Diagnosis
The system must determine the customer number from the IDoc data in order to update stock and sales figures for customers. It uses the additional section E1ADRE1 with the qualifier '300' or '301' in the vendor address section to do this. The customer number stored here should have a valid customer number in the APO System.
The section was not available in the processed IDoc.
System Response
The system cancels processing.
Procedure
Configure the EDI convertor in such a way that the corresponding section has a value.

Please look into the following
1) Customer master data is fully maintained
2) Customer number ranges are fully defined in customisation
3) Customer address details are maintained
4) Is there any special characters used while defining customer data or customer
number like $, #,[ etc.,?
5) Customer int models are active in SCM side prior to IDOC processing (including
customer, demand, stocks etc)

Error during Live Cache Server Installation on SCM 4.1 system

I have an SCM 4.1 ABAP system running on MSSQL2005 and Win2003 server.I would like to install Live Cache Server on the same Server.Livecache client was installed as part of SCM 4.1 installation.
I have installed MAXDB software and now when im trying to install Live Cache Server Instance i get the below error

SCM Dialog instance installation, post installation activity for livecache

Hi All,
We have installed SCM 7.0 Central instance with Livecache server. Now we have successfully installed additional application server (i.e. Dialog instance) for this SCM 7.0 system.
We need to know
After installation of SCM 7.0 Dialog instance what are the post installation activities?
How we should integrate the livecache server with the Dialog instance which is installed on different hardware.
We need to know how livecache server understand that the additonal application server ? Is there anything to do in LC10?

Thanks for your time.
Since i am installing app server, the SAP<SID> group will have to be online on this node. There is another group containing shared drives for components for livecache. This is also required to be online on node 2 for app server installation.
The only cluster resource I can move back to node 1 is ORACLE<SID>. Tried doing that, but no luck.
Any one here facing similar issue during SCM dialog instance installation in MSCS environment?

Improvements in Oracle SCM Check Out and Check In mechanism (better Oracle

Oracle SCM - the Software Configuration Manager provides the backend source code control services for Oracle Designer. It offers among other things functionality for Version Control: Check In, Check Out, Branching and Merging and it records Check In/Out notes, Version Labels and version events. In comparison with several other tools for version control, it has a few oddities or lacks some functionality that might have been very handy. It turns out that most of that functionality can be created fairly easy, with additional triggers on the Oracle SCM tables. I have demonstrated in a previous post how two of these additional pieces of functionality can be implemented: Building Check In protection into Oracle Designer/Oracle SCM - Check In only by the user that did the Check Out (http://technology.amis.nl/blog/index.php?p=784). The first query points to many threads where a similar question has been asked. You can change the query search words to get more hits.
If you are looking specifically for OM, it will also help if you network with some non-IT guys to understand how, in general, Order Management is used in various industries. You can talk to Order Entry clerks to understand order taking process (such as customer calls, they create a quote, customer approves, quote is turned into order), you can talk to Warehouse personnel to understand order shipping process (Such as order ship date nears, they run a report to find which orders need to ship in the next x days, they generate pick tickets to get material, they generate packing slips, generate invoices, shipping notices etc.)
Talk to some AR folks to understand credit processes and invoice /collection processes.
These folks don't have to use Oracle. What you are looking for a generic understanding of how the business /processes work.

Oracle 9i SCM check in problem

Hello,
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have imported a few MS Word docs into my files section of a work area and checked the documents in. Next I checked out one of the documents and made a few minor changes. When I try to check the file back in, a message box appears saying "The is 1 object that is unchanged since check out. Continue and check in?" When I click ok the file is checked in, but no changes have been made to the file. If i go to the working directory of the file and open the doc, it shows the changes.
Any guesses as to why this occurs??

Did you take a look at this?
I've never used SCM, but as far as I read the difference between FormsTool and SCM is, that SCM is a full version controls system with additional merge tools etc. whereas Formstool is a merge tool (with some other options) only.
Basing on your requirements from the previous mentioned post I'm not quite sure if SCM merge can do what you need, but if I were you I'd give it a go and try ;-).

Process Chain in SCM 5.0

I am currently working in SCM 5.0 and trying to figure out how to use the Process Chains in transaction RSPC. I understand the logic behind a process chain and am trying to set up some simple ones but am running into problems. Do any of you have experience using them in 5.0? Can anyone supply me with some screen shots of simple process chains already set up on the RSPC screen?

I am currently working on SCM 5.0. The process chain functionality in SCM 5.0 is based on Netweaver BI 2004s . Here is the link for the documentation on that:

In addition to the "standard" BW process types, you will also see process types for APO/SCM. For example, for DP you can find "Generate Char Combo", DP Background Processing, Update promotions etc.
Please let me know what you are trying to accomplish and maybe i can "draw" the chain for you.

SCM Inbound Interfaces for 11i

Is there any SCM Inbound Interface for 11i for external non-Oracle systems to place a requsition or purchase order? if so, what protocol does it use and is this protocol standard for a 11i install?
This interface would be from PeopleSoft 8.47 not currently setup up to use BPEL.

As I understand, you have to map incoming message to same message structure of outbound side and then send it to two different receivers.
If this is correct, then you need not perform two message mappings. You need to design the scenario like a normal scenario in Integration Repository. However, in Integration Directory, you would need additional configuration to have two receivers for same message. This would be as follows:
1. Business System for receiver
2. CC for receiver
3. One Receiver Determination with two receivers configured. However, no condition specified for them.
4. Two interface determinations, one for each receiver.
5. Receiver agreements.
This configuration should solve your problem.

ECC WMS vs Decentralized-WMS vs SCM - Extended-WMS. Confusing SAP Strat

Have a Question ... pertaining to SCM-EWM = Extended Warehouse Management Functionality in SCM.
I am raising this under SCM out of not sure which Forum this belongs to.
I knew WMS Functionality that is part of erstwhile R3 4.6, 4.7 and now ECC 6 Releases.
Back in 2003-2004 also came "Decentralized WMS" which was the same thing, but WMS implemented
on a Separate Server integrated to R3 via IDOCs/BDOCs.   It had additional functionality of TRM (Task & Resource Mngt)
which I know as my team has implemented in my earlier job as SCM Manager.   At that time there was no WMS inside of SCM (primarily APO).
I am now quite confused with the "Extended WM" functionality that has come as part of SCM along with APO.
- What is the reason for coining EWM ? Architecture seems similar to D-WMS.   Is this meant to be a 'Replacement' for D-WMS ?
- I am reading this EWM having functionality similar to D-WMS (eg : TRM, Cross Docking, RFID) ... so it
   appears to be the same ... except now I am reading it has functionality called 'Slotting', 'Rearrangement',
'Transportation Cross Docking", "EH&S Integration" ... all honestly very confusing to me.
- Is it that SAP will now do all the Latest Developments around WM only in the "EWM" module & slowly phase out WMS in ECC ?
Thought someone might know. This confuses me a lot & I as Head SCM am unable to give the Right Opinion to our Customers on where to head for Warehouse Management.

Thanks for responding. But please bear with me for the confusion that still exists.
If I am looking to recommend to a Large Customer who is in Manufacturing or Consumer Products or Automotive/Service Parts or Pharmaceutical Domain who typically Manufacture Finished Goods Inhouse and then Distribute it from Mfg. Plants to Regional Warehouses to Local Warehouses in a Country or across countries to sell to some Distributor or Retail Store for selling it to the Consumers. In such an Environment most of the Warehouses need to be WMS Managed - particularly big ones where RF Automation is also needed. Some even track Handling Units and need to Track Plant Batches so usually Implement HUM / SUM and Batch Management along with WMS to allow Pallet Tracking.
If I were to recommend to such customers which WMS to choose for their SAP Landscape, it is a Confusion of Giant Proportions esp. when deciding between Decentralized WMS Server (i.e : WMS not in ECC but in a separate R/3 which was primarily given by SAP to avoid Performance Issues in the Core Operations in ECC - Batch Management, HUM & WMS can be very Performance Intensive) or use the SCM-EWM Functionality. I want to give a Recommendation that is Futuristic. Why does SAP need to keep both - D-WMS as well as SCM-EWM ?
Bear in mind that EWM is different in Terminologies from D-WMS or ECC-WMS in the sense that the "Transfer Orders" in ECC or D-WMS and they are called as "Warehouse Orders" in SCM-EWM so have different SAP Trainings . In both 'Deliveries' for Sales/POs/STOs get "Distributed" from the Executional ECC System to the EWM/D-WM system to manage Warehouse Picking, Putaway & eventually GI / GR. D-WMS exchanges information with Central ECC Orders via Middleware which is IDOC/BDOC based while I am not sure if EWM uses CIF of SCM or has a different Interface with ECC.
D-WMS & SCM-EWM both run in a Decentralized Fashion to take care of Performance Issues with implementing WMS in the Integrated ECC Environment which I do not recommend for Companies wanting to implement a Lot of WMS.
So the Confusion very much exists between what to recommend between D-WMS & SCM-EWM to a Customer like above with a Futuristic Outlook in mind. It does not make sense for SAP to keep both.
What do you recommend for above-like Customers ?
Where do SCM-EWM Trainings happen (seem to be still not common) ... can you refer me ? I cannot see them in the India/Asia SAP Training syllabus.
I want expert help to make a recommendation.

SCM 2007 Post Install Steps - Questions

I'm installing SCM 2007 and have a questions on a coulpe of the post steps.
1. 5.18 BI-Specific Post-Installation Steps (pg 107 of install guide). Has anyone done these steps and can you explain them to me? It looks like it's wanting me to do a client copy. I already did one of those as part of the post insall steps. Are these steps to be done in the BI system or the SCM system. Thank you.
5.18 BI-Specific Post-Installation Steps
After you have installed the SAP SCM system , you need to perform the following post-installation
steps for BI ABAP.
Procedure
1. Import additional languages (optional).
2. Apply all Support Packages.
3. Create the logical system as follows:
a) Log on to the SAP system and call transaction SPRO.
b) Choose Integration with SAP components Integration via APO Core Interface (CIF) Basic Settings for
Creating the System Landscape Name Logical Systems .

CIF: how to "push" a Sales Order item from ERP to SCM via FunctionModule ?

Hello experts,
we are implementing a process in ERP (ECC6.0) where we change a sales order item (VBAP- VPZUO) in order to stop SNP (LiveCache) performing the "fcst consumption" for this specific sales order since it is a spezial promotion / trade fair order which does not justify to change the fcst consumption for the entire product.
We are searching for a function module or any ABAP "handle" of telling the CIF in ERP to "push" a specific sales order item thru to SCM again. We started with an artificial batch input in VA02 / VA32 and changed a non-used text field field in the sales order position and the document save was doing it. I wonder if someone run over same topic and found a better way to get this done with a specific function module or setting a specific trigger in some other ways.
I was not sure if this is the correct forum - in case someone knows a better match on SDN I'm happy to move it over to the right place.

You can't really push a Sales Order seperately, and not advisable also as you should not tamper with CIF interface. I can give you another approach.
You have to identify during CIF that the Sales Order is a special Sales Order. Better have a separate Sales order type for such special Sales Orders. That being the case, I think you can handle your issue by changing the ATP category of the Sales Order during CIF. The standard Order category is BM. You could create a custom category in APO, and during the transfer, you could change the Sales order category to this custom category. APOCF010 EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLCIF_SLS_001 exit (Inbound Sales Order in APO) should be helpful for this. You would need to change the ATP category field in IT_SL_REQ table.
You could then display this "additional" Sales Order in a separate KF in SNP (if you need it) by assigning it a custom category group in SNP planning area which would have only this custom category. For normal SNP planning, normal SNP sales order of category BM would be relevant.
Please be aware that when you try out things like this, you might need to tweak a lot of SAP standard behaviour at many other places. Things like CCR also need to be tweaked, and also whatever further planning you have to do for this particular Sales Order might also need to be tweaked.

Cloning an scm repository

Have cloned my live scm repository using cold backup and create control file command to rename it from scmdb to scmtest. However when I try and check out the top level containers in any share workarea I get a error message about the error stack being empty and the command fails.
Are there additional steps to let the repository know it has moved databases?

Unfortunately, the cleanest way is to do a sys-unconfig, drop a new sysidcfg in place, and modify any other required config files not covered by sys-unconfig.
