Additional language and Portal translation

Is it possible to add additional language that is not included to the standard installation? For example I need bulgarian language that is not supported by Portal. Can I add BG language based on English and probably translate the strings?

I actually succeeded with this. I found the script ptllang and others in assistants/opca. I changed them as I added a new language. They reffer to 5 .ctl files which I translated. Afterthat I changed two of the tables WWNLS_... adding two additional languages there. After that I ran the ptllang and the new language appears.
Hope it will be helpful for someone. :) This was done on 10.1.2 (SE One).

  • Additional language and character sets in R/3

    Our SAP for Retail R/3 system (GUI 470 Basis 620) is about to incorporate some new stores we are opening in the Czech Republic. With English (EN) and German (DE) languages installed, we are able to type, display and save to the database all of the Czech characters apart from two of them. It seems a bit silly to install a whole new language (CZ) for these two characters alone. Is it possible to somehow add an additional character set to SAP that would contain the Czech character set? We are happy for Czech users to log on in English so we don't need to see Czech characters in standard field descriptions in the GUI, but users will want to type these characters into items such as material/article description fields.
    Any advice as to the best way to go with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Stuart Richards

    Hi Stuart
    CS belong to 1401 code and EN/DE belongs to 1100.. few char-sets might match others might not..
    Best practice is to install the language..
    You are not know about the future whih CS words that the users might type in.

  • Language and portal

    i'm doing a portal developed with jsp portlets but when i introduce in a form spanish words such as 'cuqado' and try to print it, it returns the word 'cuCB1ado' how can i cath the letter 'q' and accentuated words??
    tahnks in advance.

    There is character set conversion, which caused this behavior
    1-Check when you switch portal language to Spanish you'll get the UI correctly with Spanish words such as 'cuqado'
    2-From browser -->view-->encoding must set to UTF8
    If the above not shown correctly please check your setting parameters
    3-Create a new JSP file (usrinfo.jsp) using any text editor
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html;CHARSET=utf-8">
    <TITLE>Este portlet esta diseqado para obtener noticias </TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <H1> Request Information </H1>
    <HR>
    <TABLE border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=1>
    <TR><TD>Request Method cuqado:</TD><TD><%= request.getMethod() %></TD></TR>
    <TR><TD>Request URI cuqado:</TD><TD> <%= request.getRequestURI() %> </TD></TR>
    </TABLE>
    <HR>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    Save the file in you custom configured location
    4-Access the JSP file in a browser
    Check that Spanish words (cuqado) display correctly and browser -->view-->encoding set to UTF8
    5-Login to Portal and create a Dynamic Page using
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>
    cuqado - JSP
    </TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <H1> cuqado </H1>
    <BR>
    <H2> cuqado to Display </H2>
    <FORM>
    <P>
    <input type="button" name="Button" value="cuqado JSP" onClick=window.open "http://hostname :port/..../usrinfo.jsp");>
    </P>
    </FORM>
    <HR>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    6-Run a Dynamic Page to confirm it works and Spanish words (cuqado) display correctly
    If the above not shown correctly please check your setting parameters
    else please send testcase(clear steps) how to reproduce the problem.

  • Languages and "InDesign Defaults"

    Hello! I have a simple question about additional languages and InDesign defaults. When I install new languages in ISpellingMgr implementation it adds entries to the application language list permanently i.e. if I remove my plugin - names of my languages still persist (because they were written to "InDesign Defaults" file). Is there any way to change such behavior? I need new languages only in current session.

    Hello Peter,
    I'm starting lesson 8 so far !
    It's not that difficult, compared to the latest Quark Express version we used.
    I have to admid (so far...) InDesign seams to be more "user-friendly" !
    We decided to start with InDesign, for the simple (logical) reason having the benefits of the real compatibility between other Adobe products.
    We use (since decades) Adobe products: Illustrator & Photoshop mostly.
    What i deplore by Adobe, is the lack of client concerning. BUSINESS is THE major aim they have in mind !
    How many products Adobe decided to stop with...? While thousants of users insisted to keep it on the market ?
    No way, they like to prove they have the power !
    Adobe Dimensions : Adobe Streamline : Adobe LiveMotion : Adobe Type Manager...SVG : Remember ? How many others ?
    We live in a technical evolution, correct, but not necessarely justified. Except for Financial Managers...!
    And the human people is under influence of those manipulated situation, and is in a real trowback period !
    Sorry for these comments (nothing to do with this forum) but i'm a perfectionist, responsable of a company devoted to Industrial Quality Control, and remember much better times. Respect, living in harmony with family, and much more SAVE periods !
    Difficult times we live !

  • Ultrasearch and Portal Multi-language

    Does Ultrasearch provide any integration to the multi-language support in Portal? If a Portal user is working in French, does a Portal search return only the French content from the Portal Repository? Also, is there a way to specify language in the search?

    Does Ultrasearch provide any integration to the multi-language support in Portal? If a Portal user is working in French, does a Portal search return only the French content from the Portal Repository? Also, is there a way to specify language in the search? UltraSearch will crawl Portal and take into account language information. However, the support for Portal item and page translations is not yet fully implemented. This means that UltraSearch will only be able to crawl a multilanguage portal in one language at the moment.
    Portal search has full support for translations and will return content in the language of the user that initiated the search.
    In 902 there is no way to restrict the search by language other than by logging in to the Portal in a different language.

  • Additional language in Service Manager Portal

    Hello,
    I have two questions.
    1.) Is it possible to add additional language to Service Manager Portal, not only the official 21 languages. I mean the first page, the silverlight part. I know, I can modify file SilverlightModule_StringResources.resx.xml (english file) and I got desired
    result, but I need English language too. So I would like to know if is it possible to add additional language.
    2.) When I select "Create a request" on the first page, I always got "Generic Incident Request (EN)" regardless the language I used. I got the same English Generic IR also if My language is German, Russian or any other. Is it possible
    to change the default link to another Incident Request?
    Thanks and BR.

    Scripting or coding doesn't work with extending the Silverlight webpart. The source code of the Silverlight webpart isn't available by Microsoft. So you can't modify the code of the Silverlight webpart.
    Also it's not supported by Microsoft to modify the Silverlight webpart and it maybe causes trouble with upcoming updates on the webpart as well.

  • Portal Translation Worklist and XML

    We have been using XML files to upload our Portal Content (iViews, Pages, Worksets, Roles, etc...) and have been very successful with this process.  We have run into an issue trying to use an XML file to create a Portal Translation Worklist, because the example given in the document below is very limited).

    Has anyone been able to accomplish creating a Portal Translation Worklist using the XML Import method?
    Thanks,

  • Passing parameter spage id and portal language to a report portlet

    Hi,
    how can I pass the page id and portal language to a report portlet so I can filter my query according to that page id and language. See the report query below:
    select <information required> from ana_statistics
    where portal_page = :page_parameter
    and language = :portal_language
    Thanks

    Yes, you can.
    Here is an example.
    Form: on scott.emp table.
    Define the On successful submission of a form as
    go('http://<server>:<port>/servlet/page?_pageid=<page id>&_dad=<dad>&_schema=<schema>&dept='||p_session.get_value_as_NUMBER(
    p_block_name => p_block_name,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_DEPTNO',
    p_index => 1));
    Report: alos on scott.emp table:
    select * from SCOTT.EMP where DEPTNO = :dept
    and define the "before displaying the page" as
    <portal schema>.wwv_name_value.replace_value(
    l_arg_names,
    l_arg_values,
    p_reference_path||'.dept',
    <portal schema>.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(nvl(get_value('dept'),10)));
    Put those two portlets on a page, after you submit the form (after Insert, Update, Delete),
    the page will be refreshed and the deptno will be passed to the report.
    Hope this helps.

  • Drop down language list in Google translate only shows first item, HTML drop downs work OK and google translate works OK in SAMSUNG browser

    I have Firefox 18.0.2 for android running on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. The drop down list in Google translate (for translating complete web pages e.g. http://www.samtorrance.com/google-translate.htm ) only shows the first item (select language). Google translate works on Samsung's own browser, HTML drop down lists work OK in Firefox and Google translate on the same webpage works on desktop machine.

    Could you provide the snapshot.

  • Does iPlanet POrtal Server provide additional language package for a additional price or is it required to be taken from a third party?

    The additional language package need not be taken from any third party. I think iPlanet offers language package at additional cost. Still you may get in contact with the Sales Office for more details.

  • E72 or E7 with additional input languages and spel...

    Hi.
    I have a E72 with swedish keyboard and a language package with english, swedish and finnish.
    i am occasionally writing messages in other languages as well (norwegian and polish).
    norwegian input is not a problem, i just use the Symbol key. Polish symbols are not possible though.
    And spellcheckers (prediction) is not possible for norwegian nor polish.
    i have seen it is possible on android phones.
    i really do not need a proper polish keypad as long as i can create the characters, but i would very much appreciate predictive input for norwegian and polish.
    Is there a way to add polish as an input language and add the two spellchecker languages without changing the language package from swedish on the E72?
    how about the E7?

    Hi
    These phones only have standard language packs, so you can't add what you want. There is a complete list of all the language packs somewhere, but I have no idea, which of them contain Polish. Mine has Danish, English, Icelandic and Norwegian...
    I would love Brazilian Portuguese, which I write quite a lot, but then with Portuguese you _can_ get away with no accents at all, although it doesn't look very nice...

  • How to add Hindi language in Portal

    Hi,
       Can someone tell me how I can have Hindi language in Portal.
    For this I have gone through some forums, but didn't get the perfect answer.
    For this what I had done is as follows :
    1. Export the com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par.bak file.
    2. Change it to com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par
    3. I drilled down into it as com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\config and there I find availableLocales.properties and in this I have added <b>hi</b> in the last line i.e. below <b>zh_TW</b>
    4 Also exported wizard_language_resources_en.properties from as com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\private\classes and renamed it to wizard_language_resources_hi.properties and add it to the same path i.e. com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\private\classes
    5. Again I deployed back the com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par par file to Server and restarted the Server.
    But still Hindi hasn't come in the drop-down list for languages in Portal
    Can someone help me on this.
    Regards,
    Deep

    Hi,
    You said that Hindi conversion for Welcome is working in Masthead! and you also say after applying note 624929 and setting user language as hindi Welcome message is not shown in hindi. Here these both statements are contradicting.
    As the lookup for resource bundle, is done from user language and when no language specific resource bundle found will show English as it is default.
    If you still have problems here, tell me more what you did. Like the extensions of your properties files and the language settings of your portal.
    To know how the lookup of resource bundle happens:

  • Additional Language overhead

    Not wanting just the effects of Unicode, I find a lot on that.
    Need a rough estimate on what to expect as additional Languages are installed into ERP 2005, EP on NW2004S, BI.
    What will each additional Language add to each of these metrics?
    DB Size % additional per each additional language.
    CPU % to add per additional language.
    Memory % to add per each additional language.
    Assume the each language would add to tables as additional rows need to be held for values and servers would need to cache multiple objects.
    I see how you normalize the data, but how much overhead can we expect per each language.
    Good reference material will earn good points too.

  • Installing new languages into portal 10.1.4.1.0

    Hi
    I need to add additional languages to my portal installation.
    I remember I did this successfully with portal 10.1.4 using the ptllang.sh command
    that was on the 10.1.4 upgrade cd.
    However this does not seem to work after an upgrade to portal 10.1.4.1
    using patch set 2 for application server (patch 4960210).
    It gives me this error:
    NOTE : Portal Configuration Assistant (OPCA) has detected that the version of Portal repository to
    which the language install was targeted is lower than the
    version of the Portal midtier. Portal language install between different versions is not supported.
    OPCA has skipped this language install.
    The documentation says use the ptllang.sh on the upgrade cd, and since there is no ptllang.sh in the
    patchset, I tried with the ptllang.sh on the 10.1.4 upgrade cd. But I guess this does not work since
    the 10.1.4 cd probably sees that the portal repository version is not 10.1.4 but 10.1.4.1.
    I have checked the database with this sql:
    Select * from app_registry where comp_id like '%PORTAL%';
    and it returns:
    "COMP_ID" "COMP_NAME"     "SCHEMA"     "VERSION"     "STATUS"
    "PORTAL"     "Oracle Application Server Portal"     "PORTAL"     "10.1.4.1.0"     "VALID"
    "MODIFIED"
    "15-AUG-2007 12:50:49"
    Is there any way to get around this so that I can add support for more languages?

    No, sorry, I can't remember having that problem when I installed languages.
    But I found the solution for the 10.1.4.1 problem, it is described in metalink:
    Note:413890.1
    Suggested solution is install patch 5880782.
