Additional Local currency is to be added : Impact Anaylsis

Hello  FICO Experts,
We have a requirement to define the 3rd local currrency as Group currency for the company code that is already live and running in Production.
This is for consolidation report.
I would like to understand from your experience the impact of adding the 3rd currency in the new FY 2008(Apr - Mar).
Also Is there any changes required in the SD-MM integration due to this config change?
Thank you
Regards
Manish

Hi ,
You can have your custom Z ot Y Form created with the additional data you required . It is possible in GTS, if you first make sure that the additional data that you looking for is present in GTS.
Kind regards,

  • Additional Local Currencies!

    Hello All SAP Gurus,
Here is the situation.  The company started using SAP in 1999.  At the time they only had one currncy, USD.   The people who handled the roll out at the time had no forsight and neither tdid the company.  Now this company has multiple companies with multiple currencies.  They have upgraded recently to ECC 6.0 and would like to use the "group currency" in FI.  In order to do this "Additional Local Currencies" needs to be set up.  I thought everything was going along fine untilduring testing we encountered an error in Fixed Assets.  When I researched the error I found SAP documentation that stated you should not change "Additional Currencies" once a company code is open and being used.
Does anyone know if this can be by passed and "Additional Local Currencies" be set up to use Currency Type 30(Group Currency as the second currency?

    Kavitha,
Thanks for your reply but the issue is, they are already up and running on just a single currency per company code.  I know where to go to add the additional currency what I am asking is it possible to add a new currency once a company is up and running?  I found a document regarding assets that stated once you start up without multiple currencies you cannot add it.  I was hoping there was a work around to get multiple currencies added once a company is up and running without it.  Can this be done?
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Define additional local currencies

    Hello:
I am trying to add additional local currency for my company code. When  I tried to do this in Financial Accounting/Financial accounting global setting/company code/multiple currencies/define additional local currencies , the fields in 1st local currencies and currency field in 2nd local currency are protected. Can you anyone help me how to enable this field to be unprotected.
    Thanks,
    Shalini

    Hi shalini,
When you are defining additional currencies for your company code in ob22, First Local currecy with Legal valuation and currency type 10 will be in gray mode.
But as per your question, even second local currency is also coming in Grey mode. Let us know what currency type it is taking in second local currency.

  • Additional local currency

    Hi,
I need to set Additional local currency as 30 USD and 40 as EUR. Where i need to maitain this?
    govind.

    Hi,
I am getting the following entry while posting one expenses in f-02
Ledger is not created for currency type 40 and valuation 0
    Message no. GI814
    Diagnosis
You activated (in FI-SL customizing) currency and valuation type 40 in company code 1000.  In order to store the required data in the general ledger, you have to create a ledger that stores currency 40 with valuation 0 (0 = legal valuation, 1 = group valuation, 2 = profit center evaluation).
    System Response
    The posting is terminated.
    Procedure
Create a ledger which stores currency type 40 with valuation 0.
    Execute function
    govind.

  • Additional local currencies for company code

We are using company code currency INR -The clients wants additional currency USD as 2nd local currency--In OB22 the
2nd local currency -we want to give it to USD
2nd local currency is also by default system is showing INR-
and it is in grey field-how to enter USD for 2nd local currency-
for 2nd local currency we have given the following data:
    currency type: 30 group currency
    valuation 1 group valuation
    exchange rate type: m
CO is active for this company code-
how to enter USD as 2nd local currency
    regards
    joseph

    Hello  Joseph,
Currency & valuation are considered as life blood of ERP systems as such those should be managed intelligently right from the day 1.
Additional currencies cannot be activated once the company code is live!
One needs to evaluate various options available, depending upon your requirements and system & solution landscape.
However due to hugh impact of such changes, it would be better to take the help of SAP SLO services.

  • New additional local currency in a productive system

    Dear all,
Has anyone added a new local currency for a company code that has transactional data?
We basically have one Irish company code that was set up with GBP as local currency code because it is at the moment part of a British company (it is not a legal entity itself). But we would now to be able to hold our Balance Sheet and P&L in EUR (which is in any case the document currency for most transactional data), especially looking at a future split of both entities.
I understand that it is possible to add a second local currency (EUR set up as currency type 40 or 50 for example) even though there is transactional data in the system, but what are the implications? Can this only be done at year end or could we use any period end to start using this second currency? Would we necessarily need to convert all historical data to this second currency as well?
    Many thanks

Hi Chirag, thanks for your response. I had had a look to that note already but it does not seem to give a clear answer since it recommends to contact the SAP SLO group to get an assessment (and quotation) of the work to be done.
I believe now that we need to decide whether to add a second local currency (EUR) to the existing company code or create a new company code with the correct currency settings and then migrate the old one into the new one. I am not sure how easy this sort of "migration" within the same SAP system is. We need to assess the costs and benefits of both options before we can take a decision.
Any opinions on this are greatly appreciated.

  • Query on Additional Local Currencies for Company Code

    Hi Experts,
Can I know whether there are any differences in the way SAP logic applies to the following currency types?
    1. Hard currency 40
    2. Index-based currency 50

    Hi,
Yes I am aware that we can maintain 2 additional parallel currencies for company code.
    Hard currency
Hard currency is a country-specific second currency which is used in countries with high inflation.
    Index-based currency
Index-based currency is a country-specific fictitious currency which is required in some countries with high inflation for external reporting (for example, tax returns).
But, are there any differences in standard SAP logic between these currencies or it is the same?

  • Source currency in OB22 (Additional Local Currencies for Company Code)

    Hi!
I'm setting up a third local currency for one of my company codes and the only source currency options I have are "Translation taking transaction currency as a basis" and "Translation taking first local currency as a basis".  I need to have my third local currency translation basis be the second local currency  (which is not an option).  I've already set my company code currency and have done postings, so I cannot change that.  Is there a way to add another source currency option?
    Thanks!
    Laura

    Laura,
I don't think there is way to specify second local currency as a basis for translation.  Only options 1 and 2 are available in OB22.

  • Additional local currency EUR for compyny codes with Currency EUR

    Hello,
for reporting reasons we would like to add a "second" currency EUR for the comnpany codes that already have EUR as company code currency.
    Is that possible?
    Do you expect difficulties?
    Thanx & Regards

    Hi,
I know companies having local currency XYZ and second local currency EUR and due to EUR-conversion they have now 1st and 2nd currency EUR.
But apart from that, what is the idea of having such a scenario? Different currency ex. rate types or translation dates for all foreign currency postings?
Anyway, from my point of view it is possible...
    Best regards, Christian

  • Impact of only balances in local currency in business consolidation

    Hi,
We are doing business consolidation based on classical GL
and extracting data for consolidation from GLT3 table.
In some cases we are not getting the transaction currency
amount for certain GL Accounts in GLT3, it is giving the same amount as Local Currency.
Is it a impact of tick only balances in local currency, if so
how do we go ahead correcting it.
    Thanks in Advance
    Phutane

    Hi,
Remove the Tick mark 'Only Balance in Local Currency' in the master record.
    This should solve the issue.

  • Local Currency Changeover in Hungary - Effort Estimation

My customer is planning to migrate currency from HUF to EURO.  Due to the legal requirements, EURO should be effective as of Jan 1st, 2016. 1. I am wondering how much efforts will be required to implement this?  One month?  Two months? 2. Looking at SAP Help documentation, it looks like it changes all the historical financial documents also.  Is it required by the law?  Or is it possible to add an local currency (Group Currency, or Hard Currency type for example), and display EURO starting from Jan 1st, 2016? 3. Local Currency Changeover functionality - Does it impact all the Companies in the same Client?  I don't believe so, but I would like someone to confirm. 4. In addition to SAP Help document, is there anyone who can share documents created from the real project? Thanks, Sungyun

  • GR/IR account difference for posting in second local currency

    Hello SAP Gurus,
We have set up additional local currency in OB22 (Currency type 30, rate type M, Translation on the basis of "Transaction Currency", date type: 3). We have set up exchange rates in Tr. code: OB08 and using GR based IR.Now:
    1. Create a account assigned PO (with Goods receipt)  in foreign Currency say EUR 500. Local currency and additional local currency are same say AUD. Exchange Rate for PO is .0.61120  EUR = 1 AUD.
    2. Did MiGO with Rate .0.62220 = 1AUD system posted folllowing  Entries:
TC= Transaction Currency, LC= Local Currency, LC2= Additional Local Currency
    Dr EXpense A/C  500 (TC=EUR)     803.60(LC=AUD)         803.60 (LC2=AUD)
    Cr GR/IR Clg A/C  500 (TC=EUR)     803.60(LC=AUD)         803.60 (LC2=AUD)
    3. Did MIRO with rate: 0.61550 EUR= 1AUD system is posting following entries (WRONG)
    Cr  Vendor A/C      500 (TC=EUR)    812.35 (LC2=AUD)         812.35 (LC2=AUD)
    Dr  GR/IR Clg A/C  500 (TC=EUR)     803.60(LC=AUD)         812.35 (LC2=AUD)
    Dr  Expense A/C    0   (TC=EUR)         8.75 (LC=AUD)              *0.00(LC2=AUD)*
What I think it must do is keep GR/IR clearing AC same for both local currency and LC2  and post difference to original expense account in local and LC2 currency.
It use to work perfectly but seems something gone wrong recently in system(with some OSS note or something else) that seems to have cause this issue.
Any knowledge/experience sharing will be highly appreciated.
    Cheers

  • Local Currency - Translation Date Type

    Hi:
We are on ECC 6.0 with New GL.
I wanted to check if we can change the Translation Date Type for 1st local currency (10) from Translation date to document date? There are three options in this field - Posting date, document date and translation date. But when we maintain it (under additional local currencies for a company code), local currency has this grey out and comes default to translation date. Not sure where it is defined that local currency can be translated only based on translation date.
However for 2nd and 3rd currencies this field is open and allow to choose any date type.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Rahul

    Hello Rahul,
For the local currency, it is hard-coded in the system to
choose the translation date as the transalation date (type 3). If you
change this translation date when you enter a document, the system will
use this new date. However, if you don't change this, the system will
always use the posting date as translation date for the local currency.
    hope thic clarifies
    Ray
