Additional record time problem with series

I cannot record a particular show appearing on a local PBS station beyond the time the show is on. The show is EastEnders & it comes on every Sunday night. There are 2 different episodes, one starts at 11pm & ends at 11:30, the 2nd show starts at 11:30 PM & ends at midnight. There are no episode titles, It appears simply as EastEnders for both time slots in the program guide
When I set up the series recording on my FiOS DVR, I set it to record a specified length of time after the show ends, so I don't miss any of it in case  the show  runs long. The problem is that although I have set it up correctly, the DVR will not record for any length of time after the 2nd show ends. I have tried setting it to record 15, 30, 60 & 90 minutes after the show ends & it always stops recording just at the point the 2nd show ends. I know it is not the actual DVR at fault as I tried this on both of my DVRs & the same thing happened. Also, this is the only show that I have a problem with. Other shows that I have set up to record longer, do so without a problem.
I have spoken to FiOS tech support several times about this issue & can't resolve it. They said they get calls from customers with issues like mine from time to time, but don't know what the problem is.
Could this have something to do with the way the PBS station communicates it's program guide to Verizon? If so, what exactly is the issue? Is there a fix?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Try making a manual recording.  You can specify the start time, end time, and recurrence on a specified day of the week. That should eliminate any issues the guide may be causing.  You can't attach the show's name so it will show up in your list of recordings as a manual recording.

  • One more time - problems with fans

    I realize this is but one of hundreds or possibly thousands of cases of Mac users being plagued by fan noise problems, but to me it has been a long and extremely frustrating saga. I have been a Mac user since the very beginning, through different versions of Macs and iMacs, and this is the first time I ever refer to a Macintosh as a "piece of junk."
    I bought my iMac G5 in August 2005, a 20-inch ALS with 250 GB hard drive and 512 MB RAM. It worked perfectly until January this year, when all of sudden it shut down by itself. Freaked me out completely. Turned out to be power supply problem (EMC 2056) which Apple never informed me about.
    I brought it to a repair shop that fixed the intermittent shut-down problem. I also added 1GB memory. But then the fans started to go berserk. Before the power supply problem, I only heard the fans whenever I used a large program like Photoshop. For the most part, it was a very quiet machine. After the power supply was replaced, within minutes of turning the iMac on, I could hear the fans spinning faster and faster, stabilizing at around 4400 rpm and did not stop spinning until I put the iMac to sleep or turned it off, regardless of CPU usage or software being used.
    I checked the discussions at this forum (over 500 posts, no real answer) and did every "voodoo trick" suggested: I reset the SMU dozens of time, cleaned the inside of the iMac and around the fan area, did apple hardware test (everything was fine), monitored temperature and activity with XRG (average CPU at 160F, hard drive at 113F), cleaned out caches, tested for corrupt preferences, re-installed the original OS 10.4 (which only made the fans louder), upgraded it back to OS 10.4.9. I also removed the additional 1 GB memory, thinking it might be a bad piece. It didn't help.
    Finally, I requested fan replacement from Apple and got them. I installed them last Sunday and now the problem is even worse! Within SECONDS of turning it on, the CPU T- Dio soars to around 170F, even while the machine is still stone cold to the touch. The hard drive temperature now averages at 117F, CPU fan is never below 4000 rpm (4400 rpm 98% of the time), even at 5-8% CPU usage.
    The fans themselves are much quieter because they're brand new. But you can still hear the hums and whirs and it drives me nuts. More seriously, my iMac is now narcoleptic. If I use it too long (a few hours on a stretch) it will put itself to sleep, apparently because it thinks it is overheated. And when I use Photoshop or Illustrator, the awake time is even shorter. Depending on the outside temperature, at the most I can only use them for about an hour at a time. Two days ago we had heat wave, and even with the air conditioner running full blast in my study, the iMac kept falling asleep within minutes of using Illustrator.
    Right now I am using TextEdit and no other program is running. Uptime is 59 minutes, average CPU 9.6%. CPU T-Dio is at 168.8F, hard drive 117.5F, CPU fan at 4400 rpm. I am out of ideas and before I do something drastic to this machine, if anyone knows what's going on with my iMac (I know every case is different), please help!

    iMacG5 ECM 2056   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   20"/2.0GHz Power PC/1.5GB DDR SDRAM/250GB

    I do not have the solution... but the same problem with a nice iMac G5 purchased in July 2005.
    My Mac operated very silently untill 6 month ago;problem MAY ( I am not sure) have started when I upgraded to 10.4.10 ; even with few applications and low CPU usage (80% or more inactive), it seems that I have the following regrettable chain of events;
    ==> the CPU temperature is quite high ( 60°c to 72°c most of the time, ie 140-160 °F)
    ==> resulting in fan turning at high speed ( 2.000 for CPU and system, 2500 for HD), and changing speed all the time
    ==> resulting in a noisy computer
    I am SURE this was not the case 6 month ago, and I suspect it is linked to my upgrade to 10.4.10.
    I did all sorts of reinstall, authorization repair, SMU reset, fan clean-up with no sucess.

  • Rise time Problem with flash upload

    My problem is this, I have my hosting on an IIS with PHP5 running, the flash uploader is in AS2.0 Flash 8, the file upload limit in the server is at 15mb, the maximum execution time is only 500 seconds. Now when I upload a 7mb file for example, takes less than 90 seconds to upload it, this all good, but rising to perhaps a smaller file with a conxeion to delay more than 90 seconds, the flash returns me HTTPError 500 .
    The truth is that no longer can be, we would appreciate your help .. thanks

    HollyBerry,
    Neither of the links you posted is relevant to a digital input. The OP is using the NI 9401 which has only digital inputs. The 500 ns rise/fall time limit is likely the problem with his system.
    andrewMHL,
    Your external low pass filter followed by a Schmitt trigger is the best solution. Some NI digital input and counter input devices have digital debounce or hystersis inputs but the 9401 specifications do not mention anything like that. The 500 ns specification also implies that it does not have such signal conditioning.
    It is conceivable that you could sample the digital input lines at a very high rate and then use some time domain processing of the data to reject the high frequency extraneous transitions.
    As a general rule I find that using a bit of circuitry to clean up a signal before computerizing it is usually better than writing a complicated signal processing algorithm later to try to extract the information from the data.

  • Timming Problem with RemoteObject

    Hi,
    I am Sagar S. De, I have faced a problem with Flex
    DataService described below…
    I am using flex RemoteObject to get data from Database and
    then I am trying to set the data in ArrayCollection. But the data
    is not assigned to ArrayCollection. When I am debugging I have
    found that the ArrayCollection is assigned before data came from
    Database. How do I solve the problem?
    Here is a code snippet where I have faced the problem exactly
    (In alert box Result2 comes before Result1).
    package visualsqlbuilder.logic {
    import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
    import mx.controls.Alert;
    import mx.rpc.events.FaultEvent;
    import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
    import mx.rpc.remoting.mxml.RemoteObject;
    public class Table {
    public var tableNames : ArrayCollection = new
    ArrayCollection();
    /* RETURNS ALL TABLE NAMES FORM THE DATABASE OF THE
    SPECIFIED SCHEMA */
    public function getTables(connectionTypetring,
    schemaNametring) : ArrayCollection {
    var remoteGetTables : RemoteObject = new RemoteObject();
    remoteGetTables.destination = "DBDetails";
    remoteGetTables.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT,
    resultGetTables);
    remoteGetTables.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT,
    faultGetTables);
    remoteGetTables.showBusyCursor = true;
    remoteGetTables.getDBTables(connectionType, schemaName);
    //Executes Before data came from Database and show tableNames
    as blank ie. null
    Alert.show("Result 2: " + tableNames.toString());
    return tableNames;
    public function resultGetTables(event:ResultEvent) : void {
    var result : ArrayCollection = event.result as
    ArrayCollection;
    tableNames.removeAll();
    for(var i : int = 0; i<result.length; i++) {
    var string = result.getItemAt.toString();
    tableNames.addItem;
    //Executes later; ie. After getting data from Databse and
    show tableNames correctly
    Alert.show("Result 1: " + tableNames.toString());
    public function faultGetTables(event:FaultEvent) : void {
    mx.controls.Alert.show(event.fault.toString());

    You need to realize that Flex does most of the asynchronous,
    that means that the function
    remoteGetTables.getDBTables(connectionType, schemaName); will
    returns immediately.
    So if you want to place an Alert somewhere, do it in your
    response function where you currently show your Result 1.
    It's currently hard to understand what you really want to do
    with your dataset. But further processing of real data needs to be
    done in the function resultGetTables or other functions executed
    when the result comes back.

  • A time problem with a SQL sentence wit CRMD_SRV_OSSET Transparent table

    Hi,
    I 've  an issue when I Execute the "Verif. Extractor S-API" (RSA3 transaction). I checked this transaction, with this parameters:
    Datasource: 0CRM_OPPT_H
    Request ID             TEST
    Data Records / Calls   100
    Display Extr. Calls    10
    Update mode            F
    Selections: OBJECT_ID -> 0000002230, 0000002231
    When I Execute the transaction, previously I activated the SQL trace in ST05 transaction (to can check posssible problems).
    When the Process finished, I was looking the Display Trace and I looked that, for every item, the next SQL statement, needs 15 seconds per item. Really strange. In my case, normally I'll need process this SQL 3 million times, because I've 3 million items in CRMD_SRV_OSSET transparent table.
    Standard Function : CRM_SERVICE_OS_SELECT_S_DB
         Select statement:   "SELECT * FROM  CRMD_SRV_OSSET
                                                       INTO  TABLE LT_OSSET
                                                       WHERE GUID_SET = IV_GUID_SET
                                                       ORDER BY PRIMARY KEY  ."
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks,
    Sergio

    hi sergio,
    I am facing the same issue with my select query.
    The query is getting timed out because of huge data and hence the batch job is failing.
    I am using the primary key in the where clause.
          IF NOT lit_crmd_link_all_mass[] IS INITIAL.
            SELECT * FROM crmd_srv_osset INTO TABLE lit_crmd_srv_osset_mass
                  FOR ALL ENTRIES IN lit_crmd_link_all_mass
              WHERE guid_set = lit_crmd_link_all_mass-guid_set AND
             subject_profile IN (lc_prof_finance,lc_prof_hlc).
          ENDIF. " if not lit_crmd_link_all_mass[] is initial.
    how would i go about resolving this? could you help?
    Thank you,
    Zid.

    Hi,?When playing back MP3's or even when Windows first starts, the sound files
    are played very jittery. Almost as if they are stalling... its bloody
    frustrating!
    I have an original SB?Audigy Value?card with the latest everything installed.
    Service packs, drivers, direct x, direct sound etc etc. The PC is a P4 3.2Ghz. The Machine has just been rebuilt and re-installed?due to?a CPU?upgrade. It was orrigionally a Celeron D 2.66Ghz, the sound was PERFECT before I upgraded to the P4
    Does anyone have any ideas? Advice? I know someone will suggest it, but I
    am NOT switching off my AV. I use AVG and its always been fine with it.
    Hope someone can help!

    I have got an SCSI Controller wich will produce these noises on HDD accesses, too. (Nforce2 Ultra Mainboard). I cannot "repair" it on my system, i have to li've with it. But in you config the HDD is the primary HDD for your Windows and all stuff. So you will hear the crackelling every time something is going on. i only have Test Dri've Unlimited and Ut23004 on SCSI so i only get noise if i want to play. And it doesnt bug me this way. So i hope SATA drivers and Chipset drivers for your mainboard will solve this problem.Message Edited by fffcmad on 06-20-200704:8 PM

  • Recording Delay Problems with Scarlett 8i6

    When recording through a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6, everything sounds normal but on playback, the recorded audio lags behind by about a half beat.
    Focusrite says it's an Apple problem. Apple says it's a Focusrite problem and offer nothing beyond that.
    After several reboots and disconnecting/reconnecting the interface, the problem seems to have self-corrected but my confidence is not high.
    Is there a more concrete and permanent fix for this issue?
    Thanks

    OK, maybe this is something... I shut everything down last night, then started it all up again later.
    The delay came back... and it's a pretty major delay. Tried again this morning and I still have the same problem.
    So, I tried disconnecting the 8i6, started Logic but did not open a project. Then I plugged in the Scarlett and opened a project. Tried a loopback recording and it looks OK. I'll need to try it a few more times to see if it's repeatable but, even if it is, it seems like something is pretty sloppy about all of this. More as it develops

  • Hold time problems with Dual Clock FIFO

    Undoubtedly the main use-case for Dual Clock FIFOs is the transport of data across clock domains.
    In this simple example, a serial datastream is deserialized and written to a dual clock FIFO, which in turn is read in a different (slightly faster) clock domain by a simple loopback unit, which takes the data and sends it back through another dual clock FIFO, where it is read and serialized out again.
    The clock rates used are relatively slow (10Mhz and 12MHz) compared to the FPGA capabilities (both fabric and FIFO), so I would expect this to be straight forward and without any issues. Nevertheless, Vivado constantly creates a number of hold time violations on the input of the output FIFO (usually a few hundred picoseconds) where the routing delay seems to be in the range of 5ns, which I consider odd, given that both clocks have a period which is a magnitude higher.
    The loopback should be synchronous with one clock cycle delay, so I wouldn't expect any problems from there.
    As usual, I'm probably missing the obvious here and I'm looking forward to a great explanation what I did wrong :)
    Thanks in advance,
    Herbert

    Here is the Timing Report.
    The issue might be caused by the Quick directive given for place and route.
      place_design -directive Quick
      route_design -directive Quick
    At least the hold time violations in this example go away when I remove the directive.
    Thanks for looking into it, appreciated!
    Best,
    Herbert

  • First-time problem with buying games

    Well I bought 2 iTunes cards and redeemed them, and then bought some SONGS with them. No problem. However, I go to buy a game and I am presented with a billing info page that I have to fill out. I do not own a credit card. So I choose "NONE" where it says billing form or type, hoping it would realize i have like $20.00 in iTunes card money, but nothing happens. I have purchased games from the store with my iTunes cards all the time. But now I have to have a credit card? Is there a way around this?

    I was having the very same problem! I downloaded 3 movies at the same time, one of which was Troy (Directors cut). The first two flew by with no problems, now almost 24 hours later Troy is still downloading! I did restart the download around 9pm and this morning when I woke up only 15 minuets of the movie had started.
    Now just as I came in here to ask for help- the movie jumped to 9 minuets left? Very confusing. I had sent apple an e-mail so when they get back to me I can post the reply here for you.

  • First time problem with a movie download

    I bought a movie yesterday...and the download time is incredibly slow. I had other stuff in my queu that flew right through the download, but this one is just going so slow that it doesn't even give an estimated time of completion. I have tried to restart and resume this but still no go...then to top it off, itunes closed with an error and when I restarted it lost all the data that I had managed to get downloaded (15 mins of movie). Now it is restarting again, and I am waiting for a reply from apple as to why this one is slow when all others are so fast...
    Anyone else experience this? Or have an idea on how to get it moving?

  • Time problems with voice mail

    I have a voicemail system at my company and any voicemail box that you call gives you a time that is 8 hours off of the correct time. I have gone into the unity configuration page and checked the time zone and everything and it shows the correct time there. I can't figure out why when I call the voice mail I get the wrong time, any ideas?

    Make sure that the system time and timezone on your server are correct. Make sure that the timezone for the subscriber(s) is correct. If you're using Unity with an offbox mailstore, check the time and timezone on the mailstore server.

    As per oracle , they had suggested multiple patches but that has not been helpful. Please suggest how do i tune this query. I dont have much clue of query tuning.

  • Spry menu response time problems with IE

    We implemented the spry vertical menu for showing the
    categories of a products catalog. It has almost 1400 categories
    organizad at about 5 levels, some categories have about 20
    subcategories. These categories are in a coldfusion session
    variable.
    It works perfect in mozilla, but in IE7 and IE6 in some
    computers, present this problem:
    - The response time is slow when you change from one category
    that has subcategories to ahother. If you see the Windows Task
    Manager of the computer while you use the menu, the processor use
    go up to the top level.
    And the effiecience of the menu decrease.

    i dont think you understood my question, wasnt about body background, but abut the spry image slideshow to work properly in IE
    I was not talking about body background, but about having markup that screws up your document when using a browser. Body background just happened to be there. Perhaps you would do well to have a look here http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Flittletreats.org%2F.
    I have noticed that you ignored my solution; your document still shows two bodies.
    Perhaps I should have mentioned that I tested in IE6 through to IE9 using IETester and the above was the only thing stopping IE from performing properly.
    How did you determine that the slideshow was not working correctly in IE and which versions of IE?

  • IWS60SP4 Additional Document Directories Problem with Web Application

    We have iPlanet/Sunone WebServer 6.0 Service Pack 4 installed. I have deployed a web application using the wdeploy command line. I have defined an additional document directory that is outside of the web application and document root. No matter how many ways I try it, it seems to expect that the document root is the source of the files and totally ignores the additional document directory definition.
    Example:
    additional document directory: /add /opt/dir1/dir2
    document root: /opt/doc/root
    URL given: http://my.domain.com/uri/add/file.html
    expected: to get file.html out of /opt/dir1/dir2
    actual: fails, trying to get /opt/doc/root/add/file.html
    Do additional document directories actually work? (They worked for us under iPlanet 4.1) If so, please tell me how to make them work with a deployed web application.
    Thank you.
    - Tom

    In the original post you state:
    Example:
    additional document directory: /add /opt/dir1/dir2
    document root: /opt/doc/root
    URL given: http://my.domain.com/uri/add/file.html
    expected: to get file.html out of /opt/dir1/dir2
    actual: fails, trying to get /opt/doc/root/add/file.html
    You are mapping /add to the new dir. The URL you would need to type then is:
    http://my.domain.com/add/file.html
    not
    http://my.domain.com/uri/add/file.html
    Mapping /add to a new dir will work. You do not need to specify /uri/add.
