  • "Additional software is required for Quick Time to playback this media"

I am trying to view the footage shot in DVCproHD. I can hear people talking, but all I can see is a black screen.
When I try to open a clip, I get the message "additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the QuickTime Components page."
When I click on "continue," it takes me to a page with 11 different components listed, but no hint as to which component will help me view the .mov files.
Any idea what additional software I need to view these Hi Def files?

A friend of mine let me know that for $80 I could get 'Calibrated{Q} XD Decode'. That software requires Mac intel -- but I have access to such a machine in my office so I am good to go. Thanks to everyone who tried to help me.

  • Additional software is required...

I am trying to play a .mov movie I had on a mac mini on my macbook. I have Qt 7.2 on both machines. The movie plays fine on the mac mini but I get a "additional software is required..." message when I try to play it on the Macbook. Do I need to download one of the QT plugins from the apple website?
    Thank you for your help

Ensure that you have two and for now only two installed (by you that is, not Apple) codecs - Flip4mac ( the free one) and Perian V1.0 (free) and that generally solves 95% of the issues like this. Expunge DivX, XVid, 3ivX , Casio etc., once you have Perian.

  • Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page

I realize plugins are not part of Mozilla, but Mozilla is giving me a looping error message that something is missing when I don't see at all that anything is.
I receive this message when I am trying to play an audio file for transcription. "Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page". I know the program uses QuickTime, and that is up-to-date, but not sure what other plugins it would need.
There is an "Install Missing Plugins" button. When I click that, a Plugin Finder Service window opens and the message "No suitable plugins were found".

Do you have the Windows Media Player plugin?

  • "Additional software is required for quicktime to playback this media."

I am trying to open a .mov file with QuickTime, but every time I try, I get the message that additional software is needed to play it.  A pop-up window then directs me to a page where I can download a handful of different components.  I have no idea which one, if any, would help me to play the movie.
I can press the "play" button, but I only see a black screen, and there is no audio.
I am not very tech savvy at all, so I'm not sure what informatin would be necessary to help answer this question, so I'm just going to copy down some of the video's properties:
    VIDEO
    -Length: 00:14:19
    -Data rate: 2031kbps
    -Total bitrate: 2192 kbps
    AUDIO
    -Bit rate: 160 kbps
    Item Type: Quick Time Movie
    Size: 224 MB
Also, I am running Windows 7.
Thank you so much--if you can help me out I would really appreciate it!

    Sorry.
I don't know what else to try.
It's a complicated world with Windows and Apple and media formats. Microsoft ended support for the Mac OS and their proprietary Windows formats when they switched from the AVI container to the WMP container formats.
Apple (QuickTime) hasn't "changed the rules" and offers both Mac and Windows users a version of their product. Backward compatibility (older formats) still works in most cases.
But your file is really WMP (based on the codecs). It may only work on a Mac that also has a software "bridge" know as Flip4Mac.

  • How do I prevent the yellow bar from appearing across the top of Hotmail emails that says, "Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page." I DO NOT want plugin. How do I get Firefox to stop sending message?

Note: I did try to install the plugin just to see what would happen. When I clicked on "Install Missing Plugin" the next page said plugin could not be found---install manually. I clicked on manual install button and was directed to Adobe Flash Player - I already have current version of AFP installed.

  • Quicktime "Additional software is required..."

When leaving some pages being browsed [http://i40.tinypic.com/xp3qcx.png this message] pops up. Disabling the Quicktime plugin seems to stop the message from showing up, yet I'd rather not disable the plugin if possible. If I click "Continue" there is no software to download, just an informative Apple page that doesnt help. Also from what I can tell there is no Quicktime media on the page. It's a web portal for Zimbra Email.

I have this video(.AVI extension) that im trying to add to the project(PAL DVD) but it gives me that error message all the time.
I also tried it as NTSC and it didnt give me any error but encore only recognizes it as a audio file and i just dont get why is doing that.
Can anyone please help me. I would really appreciate it.

    Hi there!
Id love to get in on this discussion thread... hopefully its not closed :)
I was wondering what John meant when he said that "if the actual codec is divx or xvid you will need to convert to a REAL avi before Encore will work". I have created an avi from AoA Ripper and Encore gives me this error message when I try to import it as an asset. Is there a codec that I need to use when creating the avi? As of right now, I only have the option of using teh xvid/divx codec, and I think that's my problem....

  • Additional Software

Most irritating that I have to disable the possibility to download/install Chrome or other program when I only want to install Flash Player. If this continues I stop with downloading Flash Player and even will minimize the use of Adobe programs.
    Jan van Veen

When asked to download an Adobe Flash Player update today, I did so and started the application.
I saw that it was also downloading McAffe security software - without my approval. I was never asked to install additional software and I aborted the installation process.
This is absolutely abusive behavior and I will not tolerate this kind of behavior from any company, no matter how widespread their product may be.
I will also be contacting McAffe to let them know that I have a much lower opinion of their company than before for being complicit in this behavior.
It is amoral and should be criminal behavior to sneak additional software onto someone's computer like this. Shame on you, Adobe. This is worse than having opt-in boxes for additinal products already checked.
I am disgusted and Adobe should be ashamed - but I'm sure that it is not.

  • "This content requires HDCP for playback..."

I am trying to play Star Trek HD on my atv but I get a message that states "this content requires HDCP for playback." My TV is HD and the atv is connected with an HDMI cable that I purchased at the Apple Store. I have been able to play HD movies on the atv until now??? I was also able to play Star Trek HD on Tuesday without problems but now...nothing! Perplexing, frustrating, and down right ridiculous! Can someone please help? By the way, a restart of the atv did nothing nor did messing with the HDMI connection in the atv settings....

Generally I'd say either, and would be reluctant to blame either device. However there are more HDMI issues than usual cropping up with the latest software, so I wouldn't rule out that the issue will simply go away with a future software revision, although I still wouldn't feel confident blaming either.
Of course HDMI and HDCP are not the same thing, but it's likely an HDMI issue caused the tv to be unable to reply to the HDCP call from the tv.

  • Problem: "This content requires HDCP for playback"??

I own the new Apple Tv, just today I keep seeing this message (Again!!) "This content requires HDCP for playback". What I don't understand is that I have been able to watch Movies on Apple Tv before, why not now? I haven't changed the cables at all. This has happened before but the new update has (i though) fixed that problem.
Im not to sure what to do now.

AFAIK not all content contains HDCP.
HDCP errors can also be caused by faulty cabling or software issues between devices. You could try pulling the HDMI cable and restarting both the Apple tv and TV.

  • This content requires HDCP for playback problem! Apple TV2

Owned Apple TV for two weeks. Two weeks ago, everything was fine for films already in my iTunes library.
This week, when selecting play on a movie, I get the message 'This content requires HDCP for playback problem' inconsistently. Some vids work, some don't. Then they do then they don't! I have tried on a Samsung TV and a Sony Bravia? Same for both!
How do I resolve this. I have tried different HDMI ports, turned Apple TV 2 off and on. Tried different cables (Although my HDMI cable is the one I purchased from Apple).
Any suggestions? Is it something Apple need to fix? This is kinda embarrassing when I tell friends how good Apple TV is, get them round to watch a movie and inconsistently get this.
    Many Thanks for any help
    Dave.

I too sadly have this handshaking issue. I'm in Phoenix, AZ. Day one buyer for ATV2. Worked all of about two days in terms of streaming HD content from either my MAC or netflix. About the third time i tried to stream HD content from Netflix or Blu Ray digital copies from my Mac, I get the HDCP compliance message stating my display is not authorized.
I have tried every concievable combination of unplugging and rebooting of TV (Samsung 2005 DLP), ATV2, and HDMI switcher (Monoprice) and nothing will work. My DirecTV HD-DVR works like a charm. If I rent an HD pay per view from DirecTV, no problem. If I rent an HD movie on iTunes, won't display it due to the HDCP issue. I've NOT ONCE had an issue with my DirecTV HDDVR having an HDCP compliance issue and of course its connected to my TV via HDMI thru my monoprice HDMI four port switch.
I guess the only other thing I could try is exchanging the unit itself. But everything else works as advertised. It feels like this is just a software issue that needs to be patched, and fast.

  • I cannot play rented movies from i tunes and netflix  theres always a plug on my tv screen "This content requires HDCP for playback." HDCP isn't support by your HDMI connection.

I rented twice already in my ITUNE movies but can't watch thru Apple TV just of this issue" This content requires HDCP for playback.
    Pls response to this issue.

unplug tele power lead for 10 seconds, then try again. Worked for me.
