Additional suggestion for iTunes 11.1.4 re-install

Like a lot of people, I also hit the same wall with update to iTunes 11.1.4. Big props to turingtest 2 and others on the board, who gave great instructions to help folks re-install the new version of iTunes. Many were able to reinstall after following their instructions.
I run Windows XP S.P.3 and followed the given steps to re-install multiple times, but was still not able to get iTunes to run, being given the same error message of the missing file as was given initially. I remembered seeing somewhere on the board about the importance of uninstalling all Apple programs, including Safari and Quick Time when the other Apple programs are uninstalled (iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support).
I uninstalled the programs listed in order, including uninstall of Safari and Quick Time, shut down and re-booted the system, downloaded and saved the iTunes install file to my desktop and right-clicked on the file. Windows XP gives an option to "run as", which I left-clicked. I installed the program under my user name. Prior instructions recommended that the program be installed as Administrator, but my user name has been previously set up with administrative privileges, so it was the same thing as using Administrator. The program installed without problems. As an added point, when asked if I wanted to have automatic installs activated on the install screen, I unchecked that option. No thanks, Apple!
Upon re-install, all of my music, movies, books, etc. were in place. All of my devices connect and work as usual on testing. Regarding Safari and Quicktime, I'm sure that I'll get a prompt to re-install them in the near future from Apple. I'm in no hurry!
Hope this helps those who are still struggling with the re-install. It took me 5 days and multiple re-installs (and a lot of time) to get this done, all without the help of the Apple folks. Shame on Apple for putting out buggy software. Bigger shame for not admitting their mistake and stepping up to help. Thanks to all on the boards who stepped up to help their fellow users.

  • A suggestion for iTunes Store

With the new policy of offering higher quality music (sans DRM), it might be neat to have a side by side free download of the same song, or songs, using the two different encoding processes. That way users could hear the difference and might be spurred to pay for the higher quality music.

We'll have to wait and see when the new EMI DRM-free tracks are posted. It may be possible to preview the two versions of the tracks separately. If so, you'll be able to compare that way.
For future reference, the best way to submit comments and suggestions regarding iTunes is through the iTunes application feedback page.
    Regards.

  • DJ SUGGESTIONS for Itunes

    Hello,
I have 2 suggestions to make to the creators of itunes:
1- When will you create a NOW PLAYING list for the program??? Like Windows Media player has. It is a stupid idea everytime you want to listen to a selection of musics create a New Playlist and then later erase it. A Now Playing list is intantaneal, you listen what you feel like to listen in the moment and then adding to it whatever music you feel like. THIS IS IMPORTANT because everyone wants this.
2- my second suggestion has to do with my work as a DJ, and what i suggest is to create a new Column in the Music Library named "Burned" to see if that song as already been burned in a CD or not. This is usefull for me as a DJ because I download a lot of songs and then burn it in CD´s for mixing in my CDJ´s. I have so many CD´s and so many songs burned that i loose track of what i have already burned. Sometimes a burn the same song 2 or 3 times. Othertimes i think that i have burned a song but when i search for it i can´t find it in my CD´s collection meaning that i haven´t burned the song.
Hope you agree with me and can improve your software.
    Thank you.

Sorry, but I for one have no idea what it is you're talking about here. The "Now Playing" list in Windows Media Player just displays what track is currently being played along with a Visualizer-type display; it doesn't control anything itself in that mode. Could you please then explain further what it is you want iTunes to do?
You are aware, aren't you, that you don't have to create a playlist to listen to an entire album or artist? Just turn on the Browser (under the View menu), and you can select artists or albums and play them. No need to create a playlist.

  • Suggestions for iTunes

Is there a way to make suggestions to the Apple people about iTunes?
I wish iTunes could Keep more than ONE Music folder Organized.
I have one folder with music i do not want to share with my borthers Ipod.
So I need to keep organized My music folder (private one) and a "master iTunes Music Folder" (Music Shared with the other Ipods in My family).
My brother has another Windows account and there he opens another instance of iTunes, there, Itunes keeps his personal folder organized.
I need to Keep, My personal and the "master" folder Organized, but iTunes only organizes one folder.
Plus. Inside the Itunes Music folder, they should differenciate the "Compilations" folder, the "Movies" folder and the "Unknown artist" folder.
Actually, the Movies folder, Should not be Inside the Music folder.

Fill out and submit this form.

  • How do you post a suggestion for itunes music itunes essentials?

I would love for a collection with baseball themed music. They have a gameday for football, but what about the boys of summer???

You could also make an iMix, if you have anything specific in mind that should go on there.

  • TS3212 Unable to download new update for iTunes on my computer after installing OS6 on iPhone

I have had no problems in the past being able to download updates until now.
I updated my iPhone 3GS to OS6 with no problems and now I cannot get my iTunes on my computer to download a new update from 10.5 to 10.7 and it now rejects my phone when syncing, saying that it needs to have an update to 10.6.3 or higher.  Is there anyway to get the update function back to working on my current iTunes without having to reinstall? If I must reinstall my iTunes, will it still keep all my data from before like an update or do I lose everything and have to start from scratch or will the installer keep the old config that is currently installed?
    Things I have tried:
    Restarting the computer---same results
I opened the software update application inside the software folder--opens the update window but has no updates listed in it...then tried to update again while having it open--still nothing.
Only thing I can think of at this point is to reinstall.
Just hoping for any help in order to avoid having to do this.
(Using Windows7 64-bit on my computer)
Any helpfull answers would be highly appreciated.

I bit the bullet and downloaded a fresh install download from apple.com since the updater would no longer work.
Still a mystery as to why the updater was no longer working.
Kept the original installed iTunes where it was and sent the new install to its same folder location.
First couple of attempts failed to download but I persisted and the third attempt it downloaded.
After the download, I went into the iTunes folder, clicked on the setup icon and the install was made complete.
Fortunately as diesel pointed out, all of my settings and media remained intact.
Thanks to diesel vdub for providing a little assurance, and now all is back to normal and up to date once again.

  • Necessary Idea for iTunes: Playlist Profiles

If Apple is going to commit to the 10 gig or less standard for iPods and iPhones, then I strongly believe they need to add an enhancement to syncing music devices to iTunes which currently does not exist: Playlist Profiles. For example, I have a 2 gig iPod Nano. I know, I'm cheap - I don't have a 30 or 60 gig which just automatically syncs my whole music collection. I figure I can put about 500 songs on there. Now let's just face it - 500 songs... it's a lot, but there's going to be times when my tastes will change but I won't want to spend a lot of time swapping around playlists and trying to keep track of the best collections without "going over" and without there being left over space.
SO - What would be really great is if you could save sync profiles - Not just a gym playlist, but a gym profile. Not just a study playlist, but a study profile. Not just a work playlist, but a work profile. So that you could literally swap out all the playlists with new ones, but keep the old synced playlists 'remembered' - it could even be so detailed so that on Mondays or during work hours it would sync to a certain profile, on Saturdays or during evening ours it would automatically sync to a different profile.
I know that this wouldn't be to difficult a thing to do; the only serious problem that I can think of is that it would definitely encourage a lot more rewriting of the flash drives than perhaps they are designed for, but I'm sure that's not a huge deal.
This addition to iTunes will be especially important if Apple decides to really stick with an under 10 gig format for a significant portion of its devices, i.e. Nanos, Shuffles, and iPhones, as (I would think) most people's iTunes collections tend to stray between 8 and 20 gigs, and therefore the majority of iPod users who don't have regular iPods are consistently unable to sync their entire music collection.

Hello. If you have a good suggestion for iTunes, don't post it here where developers are unlikely to see it. Instead, go to the Mac OS X tab above and then Feedback and then send your suggestion about iTunes. There's nothing we fellow users can do to help you here with your suggestion.

  • HT204053 i accidently set up one account for i cloud and one for itunes. suggestions on how do i update this to only the one. please on how do i change my icloud to be the same as my itunes acct. thanks

i accidently set up one account for icloud and one for itunes; suggestions on how to correct this and use just one account for both.... thanks

If you want to change your iCloud ID to another existing ID you'll have to delete the account, create a new account with the other ID, and migrate your data to the new account.  To do this, first go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your other ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to your new account.
This will not move your photo stream, however.  If you have photos in photo stream that aren't in your camera roll and that you haven't backed up anywhere else you will need to save these before deleting the account.  To do this, open your photo stream album on your iPhone in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  You can then delete the iCloud account and your photos will stay in your camera roll.

  • I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.

  • Is there an EASY way to submit podcasts to the itunes store? i've tried creating podcasts in garageband, then somewhere after wordpress  itunes  doesn't recognize the feed. my process has been (i am open to suggestions for other free and EASY services/me

is there an EASY way to submit podcasts to the itunes store? i've tried creating podcasts in garageband, then somewhere after wordpress  itunes  doesn't recognize the feed.
my process has been (i am open to suggestions for other free and EASY services/methods):
garageband : create & edit audio. add 1400x1400 image.
    share to itunes.
    drag file to desktop.
upload .m4a file to google drive.
create a link post in wordpress using "podcast" tag & create "podcast" category.
click on "entries rss" in wordpress, which takes me to the rss subscribe page (which is basically just my wordpress address with "/feed" at the end.
    i copy this url.
go to itunes store > then "submit a podcast"
itunes gives me the error message "we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed."
when i try to subscribe to my podcast in itunes, it does, but gives me no episodes available.
i went back into wordpress and changed settings/ reading settings to : "full text" from "summary"
    still the same error message.
i added a feedburner step after wordpress but got the same errors. i don't think i should have to add feedburner.
wordpress seems to be encapsulating the rss, what am i doing wrong?
this so much easier when you could go directly from garage band to iweb to mobileme; i miss those apple days (also idisk).

if anyone has a super EASY process, i would LOVE to know what it is. EASY, meaning no html and also free. there are many free online storage systems available, many of which i currently use. the above process was just me trying to figure it out, if you have an easier method, please share. thank you so much!

    Hi All,
I had this problem today myself, and was frustrated repeatedly by the '4002' error.
I have literally just fixed the issue by doing the following steps:
1: Go to the 'Store' tab and select 'Turn Off iTunes Match'
2: Return to the 'Store' tab and select 'Update Genius'
3: Wait for this to complete succesfully, the return to the 'Store' tab once more and select 'Turn On iTunes Match'.
4: iTunes Match will now go through the motions and should succeed!
    I hope this helps

While you're in itunes, with the leftside window open, click on Apps. Then, look across the top middle of your itunes screen. You will see several choices: All, Iphone/iPad Touch, Ipad, Ipod Games, List, and Updates.
Clicking on each of these gives you a different view.
When you select ALL you will see all of your apps. When you select Updates you sill see only the apps that need to be updated. When you are in Updates you will see the Update button in the lower right corner.
    Hope this helps.

  • SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT IN iTUNES

Hello. I'm putting this suggestion here, since I can't seem to find a way to contact Apple. Hopefully someone at Apple reads these discussions.
Suggestion: In iTunes, when listening to "Radio" tracks, when the broadcasting [Internet] radio channel publishes a URL in the iTunes central window [at the top of the iTunes applicatioin], then make that link "live" so that one may click on it and go to that web site.
For example, I am now listening to the radio station MonadFM. In the window, the radio station scrolls the name of the artist, and their web site. If the link were "live", then I could automatically visit the web site.
