Additional "Virtual" display.

Since I do a good deal of my color correction within Lightroom, I would like to request an additional "virtual" display like the second monitor preview window, floating wherever I want it, sizeable and the ability to easily lock a refrence image to it. I work with a reference image for color correction and ideally for color accuracy sake it should be on the same display and close to the image being corrected. At the same time, I use my second display window on another monitor while I work so it is unavailable to double as my floating reference window. I think adding a pop-up virtual display would be an invaluable tool for people like me that like to make quick color comparisons while adjusting but don't want to spare any more image space than I have to on my main display.

The second display window can be dragged onto the main display. Since it's normally in Full Screen mode you will need to switch this off (i.e. Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+F11)

Virtual Display when nobody is logged in

I manage a lot of Lion computers, and was wondering if this is possible: Is there a way to initiate a virtual display session via VNC when nobody is logged into a Lion computer? I'd really prefer if I could do this rather than take over the computer. I'd like it to just sit at the login screen while I do everything in the background.

I just tried selecting "virtual display" but the machine still mirrors what I do in VNC despite it saying it's on the virtual display. Any ideas?

Lion screen sharing black virtual display.

I would like to use the switch to virtual display feature in screen sharing but when I choose this option my screen goes black. A strange twist to the issue is the computer I have connected to switches to the login screeen. The computers are mac mini(mid 2011) and iMac(mid 2007). The mac mini has a clean install of 10.7 and the iMac was upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.7. Is any one else experiencing the issue? Is this normal behavior?

Remote Login and Remote Management are checked with all available options enabled, same issue. Also tried Screen Sharing and Remote Login checked, same issue. Remote Login isn't necessary for Screen Sharing or Remote Management, it is necessary for ssh login. Let me explain the issue I'm having, I can connect to the remote machine and control the machine but when I switch to virtual display under the view menu in screen sharing the screen goes black. If I go to the other machine the login screen is displayed. I'm assuming I should see the login screen on the both screens or on my screen(the host I initiated the session with) while the user can continue to work without interruption. Maybe I'm wrong but it doesn't make sense that the computer I'm using would go black and the remote computer would display the login screen. Maybe I have to enable fast user switching on both. There isn't much documentation on the subject.

Virtual Display Manager?

everybody is wanting me to get a dual monitor setup. personally, they make me feel like a chameleon with eyes going 2 directions, and the scientific research I'v looked at doesn't show a great benefit for dual monitors as much for maximum screen real estate.
I'd like to instead get an apple LED 27" or 30", if i need multiple displays, i figure i can use some sort of Virtual Display Manager or multiple-monitor simulator program to simulate multiple monitors. does there exist a way to emulate multiple monitors withen a single monitor for mac snow leopard?

Multiple virtual displays like linux - possible?

Hi, I'm a Linux user and I use/rely on multiple virtual displays to do my work; can't imagine living without this capabiltiy. Just curious if OSX's window manager allows this or not? I've looked around on the imac my daughter uses and in the Mountain Lion manual but can't find any info on it.

Gottcha! I finally found it in the book. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. Thanks a bunch...I figured since OSX is Unix it should have it somewheres...LOL.

PS: Just clicked up 3 or 4 in Mission Control. That should do it. (I can't get used to the Apple Lingo and frankly silly names. Just say virtual display (what "spaces" really is) and i'm good with that. Sigh...)
If anyone in development cares, frankly this is a bit clutsy. You have to go to "mission control" to get to your other displays?

How to define additional virtual image directories for multi lingual app.

In my ApEx application, for English language I want to use default image directory /i/, but for other languages I want to use seperate image directories like /i/fr/ for French etc. In - Translate Application -> Application Language Mapping , there is a text area to capture the Image Directory.
How can I define additional image directory (apart from /i/) in my multilingual application? What are the steps for defining these virtual image directories in a multi lingual setup?
I am using ApEx v 3.1.2 on 11g with embeded PL/SQL gateway.
Any suggestions or pointers in the right direction are highly appreciated.

Then you can set it at login.

Additional search & display fields rqd for opportunities in IC Winclient

I have a requirement where i need to add additional search and display fields in the Interaction history in IC Winclient.
The search and display fields are for the opportunities search in the Interaction History.
As SAP standard we have,but need to add few more for my client.
Please can anyone suggest me is there any standard config to do it or we need to develop to populate the additional fields.

What is the transaction to look at this query? I have not seen any evidence that the program accesses this query, but it is worth having a look I guess.
The sequence of Function calls are:
CCMCS_BP_SEARCH_RULES
CCMCS_BP_SEARCH_CONTROL
CCMCS_BP_ADDR_SEARCH2
CCMCS_BP_SEARCH2
(Up to this point it uses structure CCMADDRESSFIELDS, and has accesss to HOUSE_NUM2)
Then it calls BAPI_BUPA_MAIN
It might be that I will have to repair CCMCS_BP_SEARCH2 in the end, but I'd like to be sure that it is my only option, as I do not want to change SAP standard code unnecessarily.

Cannot install Guest Additions Virtual Box

Hallo!I am a total newbie in Solaris and Virtual Box.
I have installed Solaris 10 (guest OS)via Virtual Box in XP (host OS). I would like to install other s/w in Solaris (SUNWi1cs and SUNWi15cs so that I can install Oracle 10g).
To do this,I must install Guest Additions first.I have gone to Devices ->Install Guest Additions but nothing seems to happen.I have tried to mount CD/DVD-ROM and also the Solaris.iso file but still nothing happens.
Eventually I would like to install SUNWi1cs and SUNWi15cs as below
pkgadd –d /cdrom/cdrom0/Solaris_10/Product SUNWi1cs SUNWi15cs

Custom Logic addition to display Sales order Report

Hi Gurus,
I need the list of sales order which are open on the given date.
I have copied the Standard Transaction VA05 to ZVA05N and added a custom field 'Open at key date' to enter the date.
Now my requirement is : I need the list of sales order which are open on the given date.
I am not able to find the logic/data flow for this case.
How to fetch the data ? how will be the data flow ? Which tables should I use ?
please help me out.

Dear ,
You can use the tables VBAK & VBUK
VBUK has field for completion status.
In the selection of your Zreport, select DATE / SALES ORDER TYPE
based on the above selection system will fetch the values from VBAK and input the same in VBUK with COMPLETION STATUS = OPEN.
The same list displayed will give you the list of open orders on the key date.

Connecting an additional studio display sends the G5 to sleep

I've got a G5 with a Lacie photon20 disply on it. When i connect a second display(17" studio LCD) then my computer goes to sleep after a couple of secounds..
what do you reckon is happening?

(Intel Macs do not use G5 processors.)

With the iBook, no. They added this functionality to the MacBook computers, but the iBook screen needs to be on.

Additional tabs display BING ratherthan Googlewhich is my home page please tell me now to fix this

Previousl each new tab showed my honme page which is the Google search engine, now after the first tab all ensuing tabs show the damned BING search engin which I do not want. I have reset Google as my home page disabled and enabled a abunch of stuff and cannot get this to fix. This is damned irritating.......
edit: removed email address from public view to reduce spam, though it may be too late with search engines archiving it.

Must have been a (complete mystery) setting that caused it. There were no references in about:config to Bing, no applications on my machine running with bing, tab, start, or a host of other keywords I hunted for. If Bing wants to be sure I'll NEVER use them, they just found a way! ;)

No virtual desktops in Win10 (please fix)?: Dangerous game promoting app switching on different displays as virtual desktops

Seems virtual desktops are overpromoted - and in fact not about virtual desktops (changing content on the desktops). The socalled virtual desktops are right now
no more than app switching on different displays.
Dangerous game again from Microsoft promoting things as something they are not.
Virtual desktops are already a well-defined concept - and people will expect the desktop to be able to change content (be dynamic) ... the data and launching programs for documents, different backgrounds.
... but as others may already have stated in other threads: (Right now) Windows 10 does not contain virtual desktops/displays/screens. Not at all.
A skeptical hypothesis - hopefully it is not so, and we will be able to work with data in a valuable way. The data is on the desktop anyway today - so why not make it real virtual desktops? I simply do not understand the decision.
So here comes the skeptical hypothesis - it's not a Steve thing. It's Microsoft still looking for that next revamped business model to finance their future.
So the freak kind of virtual desktops (virtual desktops in Win10 a lie?) will disappoint - have already begun to do so - and seems Microsoft is just taken up with inserting an additional intermediary step towards relaunching the appstore and hiding
all the user data in cloud again. Really, hiding the difference between data availability - not making the cloud something MORE but making the local system something LESS. The NEXT BIG thing? So we're going to loose file system, folders and the general ability
to form concepts of our own - and get a freak system? The NEXT BIG thing - data integration? Because data was hidden away now. Also in local systems. Artificially creating new problems - rather than solving new interesting ones?
We need to able to pin the data onto the display whether desktop, start screen, what ever. It's also on the feature requests. Desktops/Start Screen/Original displays for workflows/whatever actual starting points on login ... needs to have
more links than application from appstores and application containers linked to them.
If any more app (read: not cloud, data) but appstore, appstore, appstore
application containers hiding the data away comes into the UI I am going with Linux. I am that close ...

A better name would be Virtual Display Layouts ... Virtual Screens ... Virtual Start Screens (please let us be able to pin files/folders to the Start Screen, a requested voted for feature for Windows 10).
You see, go back and read the topics for Windows 8 ... you will learn the Start Screen is/was the new desktop - and should have been made virtual.
So please get your act together and stop confusing everything ... and make on coherent system. Drop the Start Screen - and go with the virtual desktop
(put the Start Screen technology into the virtual desktop - and let users pin folders and files there as requested ... both local and in the cloud)

Virtual Screen but not Screen Sharing

Hello all,
I am wondering if there is a way that I can allow a user to log into my machine with a "virtual desktop" but NOT share my screen. Consider the following scenario: Machine A and B both run OS X Lion. Machine A is logged in as user A. Machine B would like to log into their account remotely through screen sharing. Once they are authenticated, they have the option to "Connect to a virtual display" or "Share the display" The challenge is that I would like to allow them to connect to their virtual display but NOT allow them to share the display while I am using it. Is this possible?
To rephrase the question: is it possible to make remote users request permission to share the screen but not to log into their virtual desktop?

Hmm, this is not my experience... is it possible that I have something incorrectly configured then? My setup is as follows:
Machine A:
     - Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
     - User A: Administrator
     - User B: Regular User
Machine B:
     - Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
Scenario:
     - User A is logged into Machine A
     - From Machine B, select Finder->Go->Connect to Server and enter vnc://address_of_Machine_A
     - Enter credentials of **User B**
I am presented with two options:
     - "Share the Display - 'User A' is using the display"
     - "Connect to a Virtual Display - See your desktop and files"
When I select the latter, everything goes smoothly with the virtual desktop and both users are able to work simultaneously. However, when I select the first option, User B is able to share User A's screen without entering any additional credentials, which represents a serious privacy issue. Any ideas?

How to connect new Macbook pro 2014 to iMac 2010 for a secondary display

I have a new Macbook Pro 2014 and an old iMac 2010. How can I connect them to have an additional secondary display? I thought I would need a thunderbolt cable with a Thunderbolt to Mini DisplayPort adapter but I can't find that. There's lots of options and I don't understand what would be best.

Thunderbolt is another way of calling it a Mini Displayport, thunderbolt is just faster and has more usage with other products (i.e. hdds, displays etc.) You can hook up a thunderbolt to a mini-display port because both are the same size and serve the same function. Just don't connect anything to the display port on the iMac other than a computer.
