ADDM Report hang - oracle 11g

Hi ,
DB Version : 11.2.0.2.0 , Platform : AIX
I have just noticed my ADDM report is hung for more than one month. It's status "RUNNING" in OEM always and never "COMPLETED".  Every day ADDM report starts as per schedule and it is RUNNING never "COMPLETED".
Looks like it's hung.
Please let me know where need to check. Nothing from alert log.
Thanks in advance.

Please look at the database alert log  and OEM log for more information.
Check with Oracle support and see if you are not hitting any bug.
We have 11.2.0.4 database but had a similar issue job showing Executing for long time and found a bug.

Please refer to the patchnote.htm that is bundled with 10.1.0.4.0 patch set. Only you are aware of what type of database configuration you have. You will want to pay close attention to "7.2.1.3 Set the SHARED_POOL_SIZE and JAVA_POOL_SIZE Initialization Parameters" and "7.2.2 Upgrade the Release 10.1 Database".
Basically, I believe you have missed these required steps after installing the 10.1.0.4.0 patch set from the OUI:
    (pasted from the patchnote.htm)
    13.     Enter the following SQL*Plus commands:
    14.     SQL> STARTUP UPGRADE
    15.     SQL> SPOOL patch.log
    16.     SQL> @ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\catpatch.sql
    17.     SQL> SPOOL OFF
    18.
    19.     Review the patch.log file for errors and inspect the list of components that is displayed at the end of catpatch.sql script.
This list provides the version and status of each SERVER component in the database.
    20.     If necessary, rerun the catpatch.sql script after correcting any problems.
    21.     Restart the database:
    22.     SQL> SHUTDOWN
    23.     SQL> STARTUP
    24.
    25.     Run the utlrp.sql script to recompile all invalid PL/SQL packages now instead of when the packages are accessed for the first time. This step is optional but recommended.
    26.     SQL> @ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\utlrp.sql

  • Cannot generate AWR/ADDM reports in Oracle 10g

    Hi,
We are running 10.2.0.3.0 and troublshooted the performance problem for some queries. But when tried to run AWR/ADDM reports from OEM and got the following messages:
Insufficient Data in Interval. For displaying data on this page, two historical snapshots are needed. Make sure that two snapshots are present in the target database instance. In addition modify the interval so that it is contained within two available snapshots
I checked the scheduled jobs in this DB,
    Connected to:
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, Real Application Clusters, Oracle Label Security and Data Mining options
    SQL> select JOB_NAME from dba_scheduler_jobs;
    JOB_NAME
    PURGE_LOG
    FGR$AUTOPURGE_JOB
    GATHER_STATS_JOB
    AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB
Has anyone anyidea why AWR/ADDM reports cannot be run? Thanks
    Liz

    Hi,
If you want you can execute snapshot at your required time as suggested by people.
However Oracle 10g by default take snap at every one hour.
    To check
    select snap_id, to_char(BEGIN_INTERVAL_TIME,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI') BEGIN_INTERVAL_TIME,
    to_char(END_INTERVAL_TIME,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI') END_INTERVAL_TIME
    from dba_hist_snapshot
You can generate AWR Report by executing following SQL, Connect as SYS
    SQL> @$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/awrrpt.sql
Input required details it asks, you can get AWR report in HTML or text format.
    ADDM Report:
    @$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/addmrpt.sql

  • Help with OBIEE reports on Oracle 11g Cube

    Hi,
We have created a 4-Dimensional Oracle 11g cube using AWM 11g and have integrated that with the OBIEE repository using the Dimension Hierarchy views as created by AWM.
Now, when we create a “table” type of report with this cube in OBIEE Answers, all goes fine – we can see all the expected data in the report. However, if we create a “pivot table” type of report using the same selection (query) criteria as in the “table” type of report, then all the cells corresponding to the measure columns show up as blank (empty) – no data is populated in the measure cells. This happens regardless of the positioning of the 4 dimensions in the pivot table - columns, sections, and pages.
Are we missing something in the repository/report setup here? Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Piyush
    Our Environment:
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options
    AWM v11.1.0.6.0A
    Cube Type: OLAP 11g
Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 10.1.3.3.2
Any help on this thread is much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Marcus,
I have now been able to resolve this issue. Here's a summary of what happened in my case:
    Cause of Problem –
The default aggregation method for the measures is set to "None" in the OBIEE repository.
    Resolution -
In OBIEE answers pivot table report, click on the "More Options..." icon next to the measure name in the measures column. Then select "Aggregation Rule > Sum" and this should do the trick !!
(Please note that in the as-is situation, you will see that the Aggregation Rule is set to Default - you have to change this to SUM).
This is how it worked for me.
Hope this helps. Please do let me know how you get on with this.
    Best Regards,
    Piyush

    Hi,
You can find many articles on oracle site for this subject.
However in brief following are the steps
    1) Create a directory source,executables,images,reports and logfiles.
    2) Copy all your forms, menus and pll's in source directory
    3) All your images in your image directory
    4) All your reports in reports directory
    5) All yuor fmx,mmx and plx in executables directory
    6) Any log files in logfiles directory
    7) Add path of images and executables directory in FORMS_PATH in default.env
    8) Configure your formsweb.cfg as your need.
    9) Configure report.conf and rwservlet.properties according to your applications.
    10) Make jar of icons say myicons.jar.
    11) copy myicons.jar in forms/java directory
    12) Check yuor form services if they are running or not.
    13) Invoke the URL in internet explorer
    http://<ip_address>:<port_no>/forms/frmservlet?form=testform.fmx
I think that's enough from my side.. For more info you can go through the documentation.

  • Oracle Text index hangs(Oracle 11g linux enterprise edition)

    Hi guru,
One very criticial and showstopper issue coming in Oracle Text Indexing.
I have table ResourceTable(ResId,Contents blob ,docformat)
I am creating text index on Contents column by using follwing command:
create index [IndexName] on [TableName] (contents) indextype is ctxsys.context ('lexer mylex stoplist ctxsys.default_stoplist format column ISDOCFORMAT sync(every "sysdate+1/24") storage my_text_storage memory 200M')parallel 2
I found there is one document of text/html type which hangs oracle text indexing thread.Oracle doest not give any error message keep using CPU 100% and no progress.
I then create test table with same stucture and put this corrupted documet record in this table.and did indexing again but its not doing index /not ignoring it and hangs .We have also tried to use timeout feature of inso filter so that if such type of document comes at the time of indexing oracle text indexing process will bypass it after specific time interval but still same issue comes and oracle is not bypassing such faulty document.
This is realy show stopper issue and any kind of help will be greatly appricited.

You need to raise an SR with Oracle Support for this, and send them the file which is causing the hang. It should then be easy to investigate the problem and schedule a fix.
If you don't have a support contract, you could send the file to me and I'll raise a bug. However, if we fix it you won't be able to get the fix until it appears in the next downloadable version.

  • Upgradation from Oracle 8i Forms/Reports to Oracle 11g Forms/Reports

Dear all, is it possible to upgrade our in-house developed ERP from 8i to 11g directly ?
If possible then please tell me the procedures, cost etc. for the same.
Is ORACLE provides training for the same ?
    Its' urgent please!

    Hi Sukhvinder,
ERP or not ... it must be an application using a database.
If your application is created with Forms you can upgrade a 6.0.8 Forms (+) --- directly ---> to 11g.
For a lower version you need to pass through an intermediate version: lower than 6.0.8 Forms ----> 10.1.2 -----> 11g.
You can take a look at http://www.in-oracle.com/Oracle-Middleware/OAS/oracle-forms-11g.php as well for more details.

    Hi Summit,
In oracle 11g you will be finding the spcreate.sql script in the same directory as hemant said just run that script
    @@$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/spcreate.sql
And follow the normal procedure which you do for creating the statspack report using the perfstat user

  • BUG for sort column with Oracle 11g and APEX 3.2

I have BUG in Report region(Oracle 11g and APEX 3.2). if i have more than 746 Char for my column's value and i want to sort them, this error appear
    Report error :
ORA-00910: specified length too long for its datatype.
But in an other environement in Oracle 10g and apex 3.2, with the same data. I have no BUG.
Somebody have an idea for a possible solution to this problem???

Again, I may just be wasting your time...but if I have XDB problems...especially with the password, I do the following:
    1. Change your working directory to $ORACLE_HOME/apex.
    2. Start SQL*Plus and connect to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed as SYS.
    3. Run apxconf.sql
    > @apxconf
    4. When prompted, enter a password for the Oracle Application Express Admin account.
    5. When prompted, enter the port for the Oracle XML DB HTTP server. (default port being, of course,8080).
    6. Unlock the ANONYMOUS account
    > ALTER USER ANONYMOUS ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
    7. If needed, I do the SETHTTPPORT command mentioned before...
Since I'm using the Oracle 11g, with embedded PL/SQL server, I have no idea if this is the same for 10g us OHS?
    Hope that helps!

  • Oracle Report Hang with error on 11g.

    Dear Team,
    I have following setup:-
We are using oracle database 11g R2
    Oracle Forms & reports : 11.1.2
    O.S : Windows 7 Professional
When I log in to forms, I am able to log in successfully, after that when i run the report from forms 11g, i receive the below error in web logic server.
    <Alert> <Diagnostics> <BEA-320016> <Creating diagnostic image in d:\oracle\middleware\user_projects\domains\classicdomain\servers\adminserver\adr\diag\ofm\classicdomain\adminserver\incident\incdir_27 with a lockout minute period of 1>
Reports were running fine till today, but only recently i made one change in rwserver.conf, i changed maxengine = 2 there.
Secondly I setup xampp apache server and gave a path in windows folder to instantclient for successfully connecting with php.
Please let me know is the error coming because of the 2 changes or either of the changes. Or else, please let me know any workaround to avoid this error.
    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks Roberto for your reply.
Now Reports were running fine, I removed xampp apache server path from windows folder and put same path at the end of oracle configuration path separated by semicolon.
whenever I made some changes in configuration file weblogic server hangs up and it doesn't allow to run report on web while in report builder it works fine.
What is the reason behind it, is there any permenent solution to this problem.

    hello,
    have a look at this'
ORA-13711:Some snapshots in the range [string, string] are missing key statistics.
Cause:      Some AWR tables encountered errors while creating one or more
snapshots in the given range. The data present in one or more of these missing
tables is necessary to perform an ADDM analysis.
Action:      Look in DBA_HIST_SNAP_ERROR to find what tables are missing in
the given snapshot range. Use the ERROR_NUMBER column in that view
together with the alert log to identify the reason for failure and take necessary action to
prevent such failures in the future. Try running ADDM on a different snapshot range
that does not include any incomplete snapshots.thanks and regards
