Addons are updated without asking even though I have it set to ask me
I have Firefox 5. My addons are automatically updating even though I have selected Ask me what to do.
I have the same problem...Everything was UNchecked and it still checked for updates to add-ons and and started with an updates tab with my start page on a background tab. I went back to v3.6. It no longer checks for addon updates but still starts my my start page on a background tab

When closing Firefox, after reopening it, my tabs are gone, even though I have Firefox set to remember session. However, after several hours and opening and closings of Firefox, it will open tabs from the old session, for no apparent reason.
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords. -
My email program, smartzone has started coming on as Smartzone Lite even though I have it set to work on the regular Smartzone. It works fine on IE. This problem makes my email list come up with HUGE print and it is very awkward to use. I want the Smartzone regular back. Please tell me what to do.

I have gone through all the tutorials to get iCloud to back up my music for iTunes, but it still shows I have 5.0GB available (even though I have purchased more), and when I go to "backup" it acts like it's going to do it, but doesn't. I now need to update my iOS but can't because there's not enough storage on my iPad, a bit of a Catch 22. Can anyone help me figure out why my music isn't going to the cloud? Thanks!
iCloud doesn't back up your music as part of your iCloud backup. iCloud only includes music in two ways. First, it allows you to redownload previously purchased music for free from iTunes (called "iTunes in the cloud"). Second, if you subscribe to iTunes Match on your computer, you iTunes library (up to 25,000 songs) will be available to download and play on your device anywhere you have a connection to the internet ( see http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/).

1. I burned a small hole in my screen, is that fixable/replaceable? 2. Even though I have my 15" MacBook Pro set to open to empty screen when I open Safari, it constantly opens multiple previous pages. It doesn't seem to matter what I do it just reverts back to opening multiple pages. Major security risk, my bank pages have popped back up after my computer has been shut down, account numbers and all. I took my computer to an Apple store and the genious there tols me... "honey, you can't hold your laptop on your lap, that's the problem, it's getting too hot" he honestly said that. Could someone please help me? Thanks
Apple doesn't call its portable machines 'notebooks' instead of 'laptops' for nothing - using a MacBook Pro in your lap can cause some burns on your skin, poor ventilation, etc. So use it on a hard flat surface - not your lap, pillows, bedclothes, etc.
As for burning a hole in your screen, you'll have to revisit the Apple Store and see how much they would charge for a new screen. It's likely to be a bit expensive.
And if you've Safari set to re-open tabs when you restart, you can disable this feature -> Safari-Preferences-General.

I have Firefox set to automatically look for updates then ask if I want to install them. I do this when convenient (may also need to restrict downloads on another machine when paying for Internet use by amount downloaded) Until recently it did just this. Firtefox 6 seems to have downloaded & installed (& lost all passwords & cookies) I assumed this happened when someone else was using the machine & said yes. It has now automatically downloaded the latest update automatically and the settings are still set to ask me first. What has happened & how can I stop it please?

in playing with key commands to activate mission control in the system preferences i have somehow made my left shift key one of the keys to activate it even though it does not show it in system preferences. i need my left shift key for typing and having mission control come up all the time is a pain! how do i make it stop?
I evidently didn't leave system preferences properly or something. I fixed it by going back to system preferences and changing the keyboard shortcuts to "-" then quitting system preferences by command Q. Then I went back in and reset the mission control setting to us cntrl, up and then command Q and now it all works fine.Check out [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1008706 bug 1008706]. It's related to safe browsing, and is a known issue.

Thunderbird is not auto-updating, even though I have it set to auto-update.
When I go to 'About Thunderbird', it says "downloading update" but never actually does download or update anything. I am stuck on version 24.6 and it hasn't been updating automatically since June. I know that I can manually update it by installing Thunderbird via my browser, but I don't see why Thunderbird isn't automatically updating if my settings tell it to, or why I cannot update it manually in the Thunderbird app. HELP.

Latest Android version now seems to have its own Quit option which now shows up. I uninstalled the "Quit Now" add-on and when I close Firefox with its Quit button the history is cleared. Others having the same problem should check their add-ons under Tools to see if they have the "Quit Now" add-on. I only caught the solutions after seeing 2 different Quit options.

Yes. However this is the process I should have recommened. Remove the plist as mentioned about then restart the computer in Safe Mode and then try Software Update in Safe Mode. Once done then restart normally. A Safe Mode restart will clear some caches, it's possible one has become corrupt. -
Please help. I recently bought my first Mac (a Macbook Pro 15-in Mid 2012) and my iPod classic will not work properly when I plug it into my computer and open the newest version of iTunes. It played just fine on my old PC with iTunes 10. I have not updated the software on the iPod since I bought it a few years ago and even if I wanted to update it I couldn't becuse once I plug it in it gets stuck saying "syncing with iTunes." Well, I have it manually set so that I can add/delete whenever I want. So I don;t understand why it is giving me this message and getting stuck. I've looked around the web and tried to install iTunes 10 but because I have the newest version already installed it will not let me replace it with 10.
Does anyone know how this can be resolved?

My iPad calendar dropped all my prior year 2013, dates which I need fir reference purposes. I have my calendar set to retain all dates. What's wrong?
Yes, just as you have outlined, but when I noticed the term of three months I changed it to all. I had previously changed it to all about three months ago when I noticed my calendar was only saving three months worth. Somehow the settings were changed back to three months - I had not been to that area of settings since I made the original change. It appears there must be standard settings that revert back when something triggers them. Can I recovered my lost calendar for 2013?

I checked for updates for the Android version of Firefox and I have the latest version. I changed the settings to clear privacy data on Quit but it does not work, history still shows when I reopen Firefox. Any suggestions?

Around midnight everynight, my homepage changes even though I have already set it.
This happens every night. Doesn't matter if I am on a site or not. As soon as I might start on a site, as soon as I click the next page, all my settings change. My homepage is not what I have the settings set for.
hello rushyyy, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware/malware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and/or a different tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes].
