AddPrinter EXC_BAD_ACCESS

Question

After upgrading to 10.7.2 my printer stopped printing going into pause mode. I downloaded the latest driver, deleted it, repaired the permissions using disk util, reset the print system, but when trying to add it back using either eth or usb, it shows this error: Could not get printer information... Looking at the system logs I see this crash report:

The error happens whether I try to add it via eth or usb. I tried direct usb to imac and also via airport tm usb. The printer worked flawlessly before the update to 10.7.2. Canon support thinks it's an OSX issue. It sure appears so looking at the AddPrinter.app crash report but I don't have its source code so I can't tell. I don't think it's corrupted but for what it's worth here's its md5 checksum value:

As a last report I'm thinking about resintalling Lion. I have a huntch about Bonjour. I upgraded TM and reinstalled the printer via USB and for a while I was able to print one page. But I don't want USB, so I removed the printer, and tried to add it again via eth to no avail - same error. Now it won't install via usb either.
Not sure what to do now. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated, especially from someone who had the same issue and was able to resolve it, of course.

Very good tip, however, still getting the same error. I did not mention before, but the printer actually does get added but trying to print puts it in pause mode.
Right after add:
Trying to send a test page via CUPS 1.5.0 gives "cmjcInitialize Error".
Trying to print from an actual application hangs with beach ball, requiring force quit.
