Address Book Accounts missing Account Info / Sharing panel

Address Book Prefs > Accounts shows On My Mac in left column but there is no panel to the right with Account Information and Sharing buttons.
Any ideas why they are lost and how to retrieve them?

Also, there was a product called MySync, which used the same syncing technology that Mac OS X uses to sync through .mac. It is now called SyncTogether. It allows syncing of accounts on the same Mac using Fast User Switching. It also appears to offer selective syncing, such as predetermined groups in Address Book.
From the features page;
Family Members

At home, SyncTogether will make Address Book and iCal work for you in new ways. SyncTogether's selective syncing feature lets you choose individual Address Book groups and iCal calendars to sync with other family members' Macs. *Sync a common list of addresses without sharing your entire contact list.* Share individual iCal calendars to keep track of family events and schedules. SyncTogether allows each user to add or modify information, so Mom can add weekend plans from her Mac, and Dad and the kids will see the new plans following the next sync. SyncTogether can even synchronize information between multiple accounts on the same Mac, which is great for families that share a single computer.

  • Address Book Accounts not showing sync options

Address Book > Accounts not showing sync options. - just a blank panel to right of "On My Mac". Cause could possibly be that I imported current contact list from vcf export of AB. Anyone any toughts on how can I retrieve the syncing options?

Don't take what I have to say as fact, because I don't use a Mac and could be mistaken. I remember reading last night something about people taking and checking the box on the Summary page of iTunes to replace the info on the iPhone with the computer. Once that was done, it seemed to correct this issue and showed the address groups after that.
It might be worth the experiment, however I would make sure I had a backup of the phone before I tried it. I know it was only the last day or show that I read it, so if you want to search the forum before you try it, be my guest. I don't want to ruin anything for you, but I just remember reading that someone did that and it fixed it.
    Hope this helps.

  • More than one address book account

Does anyone know if its possible to have more than one address book account.
I have two e-mail addresses, one work and one personal and I want to use address book for my contacts. Is it possible to keep these two lists of contacts separate in Address Book on a mac and if so how.
The problem is I sometimes have to export my business address book and don't want to send personal contacts.
    Does anyone have a solution??

You could always create 2 groups in address book, one for business and one for personal. You will then have an "all contacts" list which will have them mixed, but you can also view by group, which will show just business or just personal. When you need to export, just export the business group.

  • CardDAV Address Book Accounts Finally Supported in OSX Lion 10.7?

There are several issues with CardDAV Address Book accounts in Snow Leopard 10.6 that still have not been addressed:
You can move all of your contacts to your CardDAV account except your Me card. It has to stay local
Numerous applications do not have an established API available to access the CardDAV account (e.g. Skype, LaunchBar)
You can create contact groups in your CardDAV account, but you can't edit the distribution list. Mac Mail, for instance, will use the first email address for contacts with multiple email addresses and you can't change it
It seems that development was only taken so far and then deferred. So I'm wondering, for those who have installed a beta version of Mac Lion and have hooked up a CardDAV account, are these issues resolved?
I realize this is a small subset of people, but I thought I'd check and see anyway.
    Thanks

Oh, I didn't realize that, but I guess that's similar to the restrictions with other Apple products.
I have read some reviews on LifeHacker already so I had incorrectly assumed it was fair game.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know.

  • Address book application missing!

no address book in my applications folder. when i do a search of my hard drive address book is missing. how do i reinstall it?

I don't currently have Panther installed on any of my Macs, and I cannot parallel what you have done. To the best of my knowledge this option should not be there, or at least should not be what you expect it to be.
I believe you have only used the Restore disk to restore "bundled applications" -- see:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42929
    and also
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300396
AB is not a bundled application, but part of the OSX.

  • Birthdays of address book accounts others than local

There appear no birthdays in iCal for contacts of Apple's address book, if the contact are NOT within the Local account, but part of a CardDAV account. If I copy a contact to the Local account the birthday appears in iCal.
My iPhone (iOS4) uses also CardDAV to sync these contacts, but the birthdays are shown in the iPhone's calendar perfectly.
Is iCal able to handle birthdays of Local contacts only?

Sorry for the delayed response.  As I said, this is a quick hack of somebody else's work, so the end result isn't pretty, but it works.

    http://www.jmatt.net/misc/vcard.php.txt
vbook is the script you run.  It requires vcard.
To execute it, first export your address book entries into a single vcf file.  In Address Book, select the server account.  In the menu , select File->Export->Export Group vCard  and put the file wherever you want it.  The script as written expects to find this file in the folder above the script, but that's easy to change.
After you have the file in the right place, execute the script.  It writes to standard output, so you'll probably want to pipe it to an .ics file.  Then import that file into iCal.
As I mentioned, if you have multiple Macs, you'll want to run this file on each one, and import the file into a local calendar.  If you try to put it on a server and share it between Macs, the address book links in the calendar entries won't work.
Obviously, this is a minor PITA as you need to run it regularly if you have a lot of changes in your Address Book.  It's not too bad for me, because I don't have a lot of changing info.  I run it every few months, whenever I think about it, in case I've recently added a birthday to my address book.
I'm hoping that this will all become unnecessary when iCloud rolls out

  • Adding a additional iCloud  address book account.

    short and sweet:
    - have anybody added a second icloud account on the address book preferences?
    - I already have my icloud account set up in Lion (and works perfectly), trying to add my partner's address book (only) on
the application preferences (see: http://www.macosliontips.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/lion-address-book-google -contacts-sync-removed.jpg)
    - trying to get some advice, has anybody try this?, did it messed up your contacts?, I need some advice, what would happen?, afraid of doing it, and messing all of my contacts.
    thx.

    *an additional.

  • Novell Groupwise Address Book is missing

    Hi,
on one workstation I have the problem that the Novell Groupwise Address book does not show up.
If I try to go to Services in the File menu, the hour glass shows up for a second and thats it.
Everything else is working on this workstation.
It was working in the beginning, and I did no changes to this user or the system lately.
    Thank you, Reinhard.

Just a note, I really thought there must be an easier or better way to solve this issue than uninstalling Outlook (not that I'm a "fan" of it, but I keep it for "testing" purposes and such).
I found that it was as simple as going in to Control Panel > Mail.
    Click the "E-mail Accounts..." button.
Select the bottom radio button under Directory which is called "View or change existing directories or address books", then "Next >".
The list I saw was missing the Novell GroupWise Address Book, but still showed Novell LDAP Address Book and Novell Personal Address Book. I just clicked "Add...", selected "Additional Address Books", clicked "Next >".
At this point I got a list of available options, selected the Novell GroupWise Address Book and clicked "Next >".
The only other thing I found is that in my GroupWise Address Book, the order of the MAPI address books in the first list dictated the order of things in GroupWise. So I removed and re-added a couple different things to get just what I wanted.
    Hope this can help someone.

  • Address Book/Sync Destroying Contact Info

Address Book crashed on me yesterday and destroyed/deleted about 600 records (of ~650). It replaced the data file with something very old (more 2+ years old). It then synched with my Entourage data base deleting all the same contacts without warning. It then deleted them again on my .Mac account before I could stop the sync. I have started to rebuild the database and I notice that it is starting to delete info on some records. For example: I have 3 email addresses I use and I just noticed that it has deleted two of them after a sync.
What is going on and how do I stop it?!

The exact same thing is happening to me. I had to spend about an hour yesterday correcting the mess across 4 Macs - wasted time. It is really a shame that Apple has not been able to sort out something this basic.
I have read several posts in the past that the sync function is not stable - my experience of yesterday would support that view

  • Contacts in Address Book Mysteriously Missing

    Hi,
My boss had been having some issues with Entourage, so get him through I had set him up with an account in Mail.
After discovering the external HD he was using to run Time Machine failed (the drive is making the clicking noise of death), I decided it was going to be easier to just reinstall Microsoft.
The next day when he opened Address Book, he noticed all of his contacts were missing. Of course, this problem was discovered after he had already synced his iPhone (so now his contacts on the iPhone are gone as well.)
So my question is (without the aid of Time Machine, or his usually synced iPhone) is there anyway to get these contacts back? Any advice would be a great help.
    Thanks
    CGian

    Try this simple step first:
From the home screen on your phone, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and then tap your MobileMe account. Tap the sliders off for each account that your are syncing. If prompted to do so, tap Keep on My iPhone/iPod touch. Turn your iPhone/iPod touch off and back on, then re-enable syncing. If prompted to do so, choose Merge with MobileMe. Wait a few minutes, and try syncing again.

  • Address book folder missing

Is there an option for us non-Time Machine users?
I am getting an external hard-drive this winter, but I don't have one yet. So a solution other than that is ideal.
    (1) Instead of Time Machine, you could restore your contacts from other backups you use. Moreover, there is no requirement for the backup files to be on a hard drive.
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
Even if you do not backup your entire startup disk, you will want backups of any important, expensive, or irreplaceable files plus those shown in this Apple article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8771.html
    (2) If you have no backup, the only way I know to get your Address Book contact info back is to recreate it.
As soon as you re-enter your Address Book info, use the Address Book > File > Export... > Address Book Archive... menu command to create an archive.
The archive can be used to restore your data should the problem occur again. Rather than recreating the entire Address Book database, you can restore the archive and will then need to recreate only the changes since the archive was created.
Typical Address Book archives are only a few megabytes, so, in addition to keeping a copy in your Documents folder, you can save an extra copy on another computer, writable CD or DVD, or even Flash (jump) drive. To safeguard against loss due to hard disk crash, it is vital that you keep your principal backup/archive somewhere other than your startup disk. I think you can see that more than one copy on more than one media is a good idea.
I am slow on the keyboard, so I recreate my archive monthly in addition to Time Machine and the other backups I keep.

  • Address Book Images Missing

Almost all of my images in the Address Book have disappeared. The few that are there are the last 3 or 4 I added. When I look in Application Support/AddressBook/Images folder, I can actually find the missing images. However the UUID doesn't match the contact file in the Metadata folder.
    1) What could cause this to occur?
    2) Is there any way to fix it?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've had the same thing happen to me, too. I'm guessing it happened sometime in the last few weeks. I can find the folder with the images but they aren't showing up in the address book or mail. What happened?

  • All Address Book cards missing

Came in to work and started my Mac and went to send an email to a staff member and their email address didn't pop up after the first three letters?
Went to check Address Book and all cards are missing! I've been reading other posts and the difference for me was that I wasn't doing anything like transferring files or-the-like; very weird.
Only OS thing I did the day before was to set it to log out when in active for 70mins. Otherwise no change??
I did download Address Book restore files from my iDisk using BackUp and downloaded a file: AddressBook.data, but Address Book won't import or read this file so I can't restore my cards.
Please help, as you can appreciate loosing all contacts is very serious. With thanks. W

The information given in the thread *Manually transfer Address Book* should help sort this for you
