Address Book and Army post office (APO) addresses

Address Book has a variety of international address formats, but Army post office (APO) is not among the ones listed. How can I add a custom address format with the necessary fields?
Thanks,
Andreas

That's easy. I entered the Prefix (PFC), First Name, Last Name and added ", USMC" in the Last Name field. For the street address field I entered "Camp Sandy, Iraq"; followed by APO AE 90219 for the city, state, and ZIP Code fields. It works perfectly.

  • Issues with Global Address Book and Out of Office saying Exchange is Offline.

So we have an Exchange 2010 server that has been running fine for quite a few years. We recently changed our firewall to an ASA 5510 and created all the firewall rules necessary to have email work through it. Everything works fine so naturally we thought
    everything was good to go.
Then I started getting messages that the Out of Office wasn't working an that when users where trying to set their away message they would get a message from outlook that the exchange server was unavailable, yet when I
check the outlook client it would say Connected to Microsoft Exchange at the bottom. I thought this was crazy so I started looking further into it and it turns out that the name for the server owa.xxxxxx.net points to a public address, which of course lives
on the outside interface to the ASA. In ASA world it doesn't like private space (ie. 192.168.x.x) talking to the outside interface and drops the packets, where our old firewall did not. So as a short term fix I had the users using OWA site with a internal
address to set their out of office message. This worked fine until today when I rebooted the email server and started getting support calls saying that when users where selecting the To: button in a new email that once again they were getting messages saying
that they were not connected to exchange, yet they once again outlook said they were. I then started playing with the host name owa.xxxxxx.net again. This time I changed the hosts file on a box and pointed the internal IP of the exchange server to that
host name. Restarted the outlook client and things started to work as they should. I have played with split DNS to see if this would help so I wouldn't have to do this with every client in the network, and it was promising until I realized that we many hosts
that use this domain and an external DNS server that takes care of these requests that now the internal users will never reach. Funny part is that if we take one of our laptops out side the network everything works fine as well.
So I'm guessing that some of the processes that connect Outlook to Exchange use the FQDN of the server or IP address, and that other things such as the Global Address Book and Out of Office use the External Host Name.
Any help to point these request at the Internal FQDN/IP would be great, or if someone can think of another way of dealing with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Titan,
correct me if i have missed something but are users able to look up contacts in GAL?
If you update (ex mobile number for a user) then run the following commands(one for each line):
       Get-GlobalAddressList | update-GlobalAddressList
       Get-AddressList | update-AddressList
    Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook
Restart Your Outlook  in 5 min, then do a manual OAB download. Is info on that user updated?
    Does GAL from frm OWA?
if im not wrong,Status and Out of Office use EWS for status update.
    Please run the following command:
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity “mailserver01\EWS (Default Web Site)” |fl *internalUrl*
where mailserver01 is the server that is having the issue.
Then please check if internal URL is correct for that server (and those that are having issues.

  • GW Monitor and multiple post office agents on one Netware 6.5Server

    HI,
I've not been successful getting GW Monitor (7 sp3) to recognize a PO as "known". Regardless of the setting I put in monitor.xml for the port assignment (1677), the thing reverts to port "0". This server is running a MTA only post office agent and a client post office agent. These may be related. Interestingly, the MTA IP configurations are:
    MTA only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7100 (My Note on this - this is from agmail MTA to agents POA which is IP ...28 and listens on 7100)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
    Client only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7102 (My Note on this - this is from agents POA/MTA to agents POA only which is IP ...28 and listens on 7102)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA only to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
Maybe I should make the outbound for the client only post office agent to be:
    Outbound - 165.91.107.28:7100
In any event, we need GW Monitor to report on the status of the POA at 1677 on the Agents server. Any ideas?
    Thanks Mike

Well, first of all the Monitor should be looking for 7101 for the MTA, 7100
for the first POA and 7102 for the second POA if indeed this is how you have
it set up. Are you sure you purposefully change the POA to listen on 7100
and put the MTA on 7101? That is confusing :) - most sites have the MTA at
the default of 7100, and the first POA at 7101, so it just looks weird to me
    - but it's perfectly "okay" to change them if you want to - but just
    confusing for long-time GW admins/consultants.

  • HT4489 How can I synchronize contacts between Apple Address Book/iPhone address book and Outlook (I'm on Mac OX10.7.4 and using Office 2011)?

I appear to have done what I should to move to iCloud on my Mac, MacbookAir, iPhone and iPad.  Using Outlook 2011 on the iMac and unable to sync contacts between Outlook and my Apple Address Book and iPhone over the cloud.  I gather lots of people have the same problem but some appear to have solved it... any ideas?
Also, in some sync, I managed to duplicate the entries on the Address Book on my Mac, whereas the iCloud Address Book is ok.  How can I replace the Address Book on my computer with the one on iCloud?
    Thank You for any help!

Hi Lucy, I had the same problem with Outlook data sync. Once you've enabled iCloud all your contacts are moved to iCloud and are no longer stored on Mac, that's why Outlook cannot reach them - there is simply nothing to reach as data physically stored in cloud.
I use SyncMate to solve this problem. This app allows connecting and syncing numerous devices and accounts with your Mac and they have recently added iCloud into this list (here the page where they describe sync with iCloud http://www.sync-mac.com/cloud-sync.html ).
This is how I established sync of my Outlook data with iCloud via this app.
    1. SyncMate syncs only that data which is located on your Mac so you will need to move your contacts back to Address Book on mac from iCloud and disable iCloud for contacts (in order they were stored on Mac, not in iCloud).
    2. You install SyncMate and add iCloud as a new connection (depending on data you want to sync you need to choose "Cloud contacts" or "Cloud calendars" connection in SyncMate wizard and log into your iCloud via SyncMate). Once you've done this, you can sync data on Mac with iCloud via SyncMate.
    3. I may assume that automatic sync option is enabled in Outlook preferences (as previously your contacts on Mac were synced with Outlook). If no - please, enable it (got to Outlook preferences).
    4. Once all this done, data will be automatically synced betwen Outlook and iCloud (latter via SyncMate). The trick of SyncMate is that data is physically located on your Mac (thus ensuring it will be synced with other devices and accounts SyncMate supports, as I said before, SyncMate works with data which is located on Mac), but you still can have it in iCloud (sync will be performed via SyncMate, no need to enable iCloud itself).
    5. And of course, you will be able to sync your iPhone contacts with your Mac (SyncMate supports sync with iPhones also). These contacts will be also synced to Outlook.

  • SMS - Sending to numbers not in your address book and inserting smiley faces

    Hi
I'm new to the world of Blackberry and sorry if this has been posted elsewhere - I've trawled through and can't find anything similiar.
When composing SMS messages, I can only send to those people who are in my address book as the address book automatically opens when you select compose SMS.
Obviously there are times when you need to text to numbers not in your address book so how do you do it?
So far the only solution I have got is to add numbers to my address book and then delete them.  Surely there must be a way you can just enter the number manually when you need to?
Secondly is there a shortcut on the Blackberry Pearl to insert smiley faces in SMS messages without entering :-) manually?
    Thanks for your help
    Trish
    I love my Blackberry

You right. I misread. Hitting the SYM key is only for messenger, not for SMS. I didn't anyway to insert emoticons into an SMS message

  • What are the steps to burn a cd of my home folder, my address book and my bookmarks folder? Using OS 10.6.8, iMac 27 inch .

What are the steps to burn a cd of my home folder, my address book, and my bookmarks?

Well, I am running Mountain Lion, so I can't send you a screenshot of what SL's would look like, but as far as I remember, Finder windows in column view still look the same. To open a Finder window, simply click on the Finder icon in your Dock. Then click on the little column pic above the "view":
Once you see your home folder, there is nothing to save - just drag that from the window to the burn folder. It will copy it.
As for address book, open it, go to Edit: Select all, then go to File > Export:
Save it to your desktop for easy access.
    Safari Bookmarks:
File menu > Export bookmarks. Save to desktop.
Then drag all three files to burn folder.
Edit: The system is not allowing me to post a screenshot of the Safari File menu window. Will try one more time. Edit again: not working.

  • How to export Date book and Address book from Palm Desktop to Apple iCal and Address Book?

I have my calendar information and addresses stored in Palm Desktop date book and address book, respectively. I am running Palm Desktop 4.2.1. Everytime I try to export the date book or address book to my desktop using the vCal format, the Palm desktop crashes. My goal is to export all my data from Palm Desktop to iCal and Address Book on the Apple OS (10.6.1). Does anyone have any advice as to how I can do this or do I just have to start from scratch and manually enter the data from Palm Desktop to Apple iCal and Address Book? I looked at the Missing Sync software, but I don't think this will do the trick. The Genius Bar at the Apple Store didn't offer any solutions either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Post relates to: Palm V

Hello tay8000m and welcome to the Palm forums.
Have you tried running the "Repair Disk Permissions" command in Apple's Disk Utility application yet?  Launch Disk Utility, select "Macintosh HD" from the left side of the window, and then click the "Repair Disk Permissions" button.
After the utility has run, try launching Palm Desktop again and then exporting your data as vCard or iCal files.  If the exports aren't working for you, you can always export the data as comma separated values (.csv) file and then import that into the Apple apps you want to use.

  • Can't export in Address Book and in Preview

I can't use the command 'Export' or 'Export as PDF' from the menu in Address Book and in Preview.
If I go to another user on my computer that seems to be no problem.

Please take each of the following steps until the issue is resolved. After each step, log out, log back in, and see whether there's an improvement. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
If possible, open the General pane in System Preferences and set the Highlight color to one of the built-in presets. If it's already set, change it to a different one, then change it back. You may be unable to do this because System Preferences crashes or freezes.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    defaults delete -g AppleHighlightColor
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
    Step 3
Do as in Step 2 with this line:
    mv L*/P*/.GlobalPreferences.plist Desktop/GlobalPreferences.plist
A file named "GlobalPreferences.plist" will appear on the Desktop.
Log out and log back in. Test. If the problem is resolved, you'll need to recreate some of your settings in System Preferences. You can then delete the file on the Desktop. Otherwise, you can reverse the above action by entering the following command in the same way as before:
    mv Desktop/GlobalPreferences.plist L*/P*/.GlobalPreferences.plist
    Post your results.

If not use automount network library, can use another "values" for apple-user-picture ?
I try http link for picture in values field, don't work.

  • Address book and groups on N97?

Do anyone know how I can find out which groups a person in the address book is a member of in the N97? In older Nokia phones, that was displayed along with all the other information when I opened an entry in the address book. On the N97 this is not so.
The only solution I've found so far that even comes close is to go to the group list, open a group, select a member, and then I can see which other groups that member belongs to. This isn't really good enough, since I then first need to know atleast one group that the person is a member of before I can even do this. Also, it's very logical, or easy to use when I'm in the address book list.

There was another thread on this, and I posted incorrect advice on it, but now I can't find the thread.  Someone pointed out my error, but it was so late at night when I saw it, I didn't respond at the time - so whoever you were - yes, you were right!
Yes, I agree with you, doesn't seem to work as well as on, for example, my old N80.
    I haven't found a solution either.
Not that that helps you, of course, but at least you know you are not missing something - or conversely, several of us are missing something!

  • System Preferences, Address book, and ical suddenly won't open

As I said My system Preferences, Address book, and ical suddenly won't open. This seemed to have happen all at once. The only unusual thing to happen lately is that my ipod was corrupted and I resored it last night. Now when I try to open these programs I get one or two bounces on the icon, then nothing. My other programs including itunes seem to work fine. There are no error messages at all.

/System/Library/Frameworks/Message.framework/Versions/B/Message (file is empty)OK, this is an important part of your basic system and will need to be restored.
First you should boot from your Install Disk and repair your disk: see Using Disk Utility and fsck to resolve startup issues or perform disk maintenance.
Then I think you would be wise to consider an Archive & Install. See Mac OS X : About the Archive and Install Feature. This should put back the missing file(s). You will also then need to re-apply the Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update (Combo), and anything else Software Update says is missing.
Post back and let us know how you get on!

My personal address book and calander are on MS Outlook, which I used to sync hardwire with my personal desktop.
Can I use two address books and calendars on the Curve 8310, one Lotus Notes for professional items and one MS based for personal items?

    Hello,
if you need to sync your media files as well, you might want to have a look at FoneSync for Android. It features an iTunes like interface and syncs contacts, calendars, music and photos.

  • Sync address book and calendar 8830 with 8130 via DM

I just changed from using an 8130 and now use an 8830.  I assumed I could use DM to backup my 8130 and then restore it to my 8830.  However, when I do this, many items do migrate, but not 2 of the most important ... my address book and calendar.  Both are personal devices and are not linked with any work email server, so that's not the issue.  I do notice that in the backup file from my 8130 the address book is called "Address Book - All" and similar with the calendar.  However, with the 8830, it is labeled as only "Address Book".  I'm wondering if this is the problem?  I'm hoping someone can help me get my address book and calendar migrated to my new device.
    Thanks!
BTW, I already tried wiping the new 8830 ... that did nothing.

In Desktop Manager, use the application Switch Device Wizard.
