Address book and exchange

Hi,
I'm using exchange email at work and I already configured my ipad to sync with email, contacts and calendar.
The problem is that when I connect my iPad with iTunes to sync them also with my Mac (Address Book and Calendar), the exchange contacts on my iPad are not listed in iTunes.
Can you please help on how to copy and sync exchange contacts/calendars from my iPad to my MAC?
Thanks
Cesare

Arrgggh! That's a bummer, they could just strip out the notes if they had attachments or something.. or give an error. I have no attachments, and notes are extremely important to me.
Oh well.. there goes my ability to do away with Entourage!

  • Address Book and Exchange Server - NO NOTES SYNCING???

I have my address book syncing very nicely with my exchange server, but notes do not seem to want to sync. If I create a note on the web access, it doesn't copy to the address book, and none of the address book notes copy to the exchange.
I can't get an answer out of Apple Support either if they are supposed to sync or not! Has anyone here gotten notes to sync with exchange?
Thanks so much. I have searched for over 4 hours on Google and these boards, and noone even mentions notes, leaving me to believe that they SHOULD sync.

  • Syncing Address book and Exchange 2007 - some problems

    Hello,
I do have a weird problem, not all of my contacts are uploaded to exchange when I create them in Address Book. I need this so that exchange pushes them on my Blackberry.
In Address Book 5 (Snow Leopard), I do have 2 accounts : On My Mac and Exchange.
Do I need to copy them over? If yes, then, how to avoid duplicates?
    Thanks beforehand for your help.
    Jean-Francois.

Since Apple does not even support public folders of the type "mail" for their Apple Mail, I doubt they will support "contact" PFs any time soon. Your only chance will be to add the information from your contact PFs to you Active Directory as "Contacts". These will be shown in your Exchange GAL, which is accessible with Address Book and your Outlook users will still be able to also use the contacts.

  • Problem with Address Book and Exchange

    Hello,
I have a little problem with Address Book and Microsoft Exchange 2003. I am able to connect to Outlook Web Access via Safari without problem. I see my contacts. Unfortunately when I setup everything needed in Address Book preferences (Synchronize with Exchange) the contacts didn't show in my Address Book. Strange thing is that no error is generated. can someone please help me what I am doing wrong ? Thanks in advance.

My suggestion is that you consider using Microsoft Entourage. For Exchange users on a Mac, Entourage is by far the best option. The down side is, you need to buy Microsoft Office 2004 to get Entourage, but your employer might own a site license, in which case, Office 2004 might not cost you anything.

  • Microsoft Exchange Categories in iCal, Address Book and Mail

I work in a Microsoft environment with my MacBook Pro and would like to use iCal, Address Book and Mail as my default applications rather than Microsoft Oulook 2011, however, there is not support for the Microsoft Exchange Categories to be replicated into the various Apple applications. This results in my address book not to differentiate any longer from my contact categories stored on the Exchange server, nor my calendar. Categories can be created in iCal and other Apple applications but it then requires for the event or contact to be duplication "On my Mac" which makes me loose my synchronization with other systems. Any idea about to fix that?

Same issue here. I would love to migrate to iCal but the lack of support for categories is a limiting factor. Same applies to Contacts.

  • Issues with Global Address Book and Out of Office saying Exchange is Offline.

So we have an Exchange 2010 server that has been running fine for quite a few years. We recently changed our firewall to an ASA 5510 and created all the firewall rules necessary to have email work through it. Everything works fine so naturally we thought
    everything was good to go.
Then I started getting messages that the Out of Office wasn't working an that when users where trying to set their away message they would get a message from outlook that the exchange server was unavailable, yet when I
check the outlook client it would say Connected to Microsoft Exchange at the bottom. I thought this was crazy so I started looking further into it and it turns out that the name for the server owa.xxxxxx.net points to a public address, which of course lives
on the outside interface to the ASA. In ASA world it doesn't like private space (ie. 192.168.x.x) talking to the outside interface and drops the packets, where our old firewall did not. So as a short term fix I had the users using OWA site with a internal
address to set their out of office message. This worked fine until today when I rebooted the email server and started getting support calls saying that when users where selecting the To: button in a new email that once again they were getting messages saying
that they were not connected to exchange, yet they once again outlook said they were. I then started playing with the host name owa.xxxxxx.net again. This time I changed the hosts file on a box and pointed the internal IP of the exchange server to that
host name. Restarted the outlook client and things started to work as they should. I have played with split DNS to see if this would help so I wouldn't have to do this with every client in the network, and it was promising until I realized that we many hosts
that use this domain and an external DNS server that takes care of these requests that now the internal users will never reach. Funny part is that if we take one of our laptops out side the network everything works fine as well.
So I'm guessing that some of the processes that connect Outlook to Exchange use the FQDN of the server or IP address, and that other things such as the Global Address Book and Out of Office use the External Host Name.
Any help to point these request at the Internal FQDN/IP would be great, or if someone can think of another way of dealing with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Titan,
correct me if i have missed something but are users able to look up contacts in GAL?
If you update (ex mobile number for a user) then run the following commands(one for each line):
       Get-GlobalAddressList | update-GlobalAddressList
       Get-AddressList | update-AddressList
    Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook
Restart Your Outlook  in 5 min, then do a manual OAB download. Is info on that user updated?
    Does GAL from frm OWA?
if im not wrong,Status and Out of Office use EWS for status update.
    Please run the following command:
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity “mailserver01\EWS (Default Web Site)” |fl *internalUrl*
where mailserver01 is the server that is having the issue.
Then please check if internal URL is correct for that server (and those that are having issues.

  • Syncing material from my iCal and Address Book to Exchange

My situation: I keep 90% of my life in iCal and Address book, because I love their overall integration. My assistant is a Windoze user and we have an exchange server at work.
I have both Exchange sync and MobileMe sync set up on my phone and both work well. That is, I have material from both my Mac (via MobileMe) and the Exchange server (via the iPhone) on the iPhone. Very cool.
However, entries from my iCal/Address Book do not appear to make its way through the "Cloud" to my account on the Exchange server, where my assistant could see them. This is a bummer, as I want her to be able to see when I'm free to meet, get my contacts' addresses, etc. But, I'm not willing to go over the Entourage full time because it dislike it strongly.
Any hints as to how to make this work?
    Thanks.

Not much you can do then. There are rumors that Address Book and iCal will support ActiveSync in Snow Leopard but for now the only desktop based Exchange client for the Mac is Entourage.
If you set up Entourage to sync with AB/iCal you can just leave Entourage open in the background. It will sync with both the programs you like and the server.

  • Address Book and MS Exchange

Is there a way to use Mac's Address Book with Exchange Server 2003? I am working on getting them to enable IMAP access so I can use mail.app but am so ready to punt Entourage. I figure worst case scenario I can use the WebAccess to e-mail and mac apps for everything else.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Unfortunately NO
The only way is to use Entourage and sync with Mac Address book. Whenever you want to sync, you have to do the same overwriting existing Mac Address book. The option that you see in Address book does not sync with Exchange Server 2003. As per Apple's document it does with older version (2000) only.

We have to wait until Apple realises there is new version of Exchange just like Tiger ...

  • Address Book and Google Contacts syncronization

I am trying to sync my Address Book and my Google Contacts with each other. I followed the guide on Google to import contacts using the application "A to G" but that doesn't include photos, which are a big part of why I wanted to do it.
I have in the past synced my address book with my facebook so that has a photo for each of my friends (their profile pics at the time) and since I have deleted my facebook account for privacy reasons.
I just tried to export a single contact in either 2.1 or 3.0 format, and neither imported correctly.
On looking it up online, I see one version had an option to sync with Google dynamically, but I don't see it in the preferences area - there is an option for Exchange, Yahoo, MobileMe but no Google - also I don't know if that will work with my Google Apps so cleanly.

Now I'm no longer using the address book application, so answering this question would be pointless.

  • How to sync up apple contact book and exchange contacts

I have a bunch of contacts in my Apple Contact book but am using Outlook for Mac 2011 for email, contact management, and calendar.  I have read that you have to sync your Apple contact book to your exchange account rather than directly to the Outlook for Mac 2011 programs so you don't create duplicates (contacts coming from the Apple address book AND the Exchange server).  However, I can't find anything that tells me how to sync the Apple Contacts with my Exchange account.  I figure at that point once synced, my exchange account will push the new contacts from the Apple Contact book back into Outlook for Mac 2011 making everything whole.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    itsamacthing,
Thanks for the quick response.  I do have the exchange service added and am only bringing the contacts down from the exchange side into the Contacts portion (not syncing mail, calendar, etc). It has seemed to create two different "sections' in the Apple Contacts Address book (Please see screenshot).  I was hoping to somehow merge/sync these two so I am always working out of one directory.  When I create a contact in my Outlook for Mac 2011 it dumps it in the "Exchange" section and up to my Exchange server.  However, when I create one on my iphone and sync the phone with this system via usb cable, it puts all new contacts created in the "On My Mac" section thus not moving it to my Exchange or Outlook for Mac 2011 causing new contacts to only sync with different sections based on where they were created.
(As a side note, I have to sync via the firewire cable due to having over 10,000 contacts.  There was an issue with the previous release of IOS that caused massive problems with syncing over the air with that many contacts.  I've never fully recovered and have not had the hard to do over the air syncing again, hence the tethered sync).
If there is anything I can do to get this rolled into one Address book that syncs from phone all the way through to Exchange server, I would appreciate any additional direction.  I've also included a second screen shot to show the difference between the Exchange contacts total (10,660) and the All on my Mac contacts total (10,774).  Ideally they would both say 10,774.
    Thank you again.

  • Mail & Address Book with Exchange = Problems Problems Problems

    Hi All,
There is a serious issue with Mail/Address Book in Lion with Exchange Server 2010. I have had nothing but grief since upgrading and I have been able to recreate my scenario on two macs using two different profiles so I know it's not related to any settings or anything. None of these problems appear in Outlook 2011.
Basically, to sum up the massive list of problems:
The connection to Exchange drops all the time. I have to use to function "Take my accounts online" about 60-70 times per day.
Trying to send new e-mail often results in a pop-up box indicating that the server isn't available to send (with the options to Try Again With Selected Server or Try Later)
GAL look up for names takes forever. Sometimes the GAL will come up right away, but often times, there's the spinning progress indicator that can take upwards of 1-3 minutes to find the name in the GAL. Same in Address Book, spinning indicator trying to retrieve the GAL.
When sending e-mails, Mail seems to "duplicate" the last name of the person I'm sending the e-mail to if I've already sent them an e-mail in the past (even if I clear the previous recipients list). For example, "John Smith" would appear as "John Smith Smith"
Trying to move messages often fails. I suspect this is due to issue #1 above.
Like I mentioned, none of these problems occur in Outlook. Granted, I would much prefer to use Mail as the search functions are much faster and the program is snappier.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Mail on Lion + Exchange 2010 servers? At this point I'm wondering if it's potentially a configuration issue with our exchange provider (and if so, what would it be?).
    Cheers,

I'm having this same problem with syncing address book to exchange contacts. I know I have the correct exchange server specified because I have it in both Apple Mail and on my phone. Also, In the past i have been able to sync address book, but at some point that stopped working. Exchange is syncing perfectly ota to my phone, but I hate to go into OWA to add or change contacts.

  • Managing pesonal AND Corp/push address book and calendar.

I have read through several pages of postings and not found anything on this, and I can't be the only one impacted by this...
I connected to my corp email server today, and to my surprise all my personal contacts AND my personal calendar were both wiped out. I expected them to merge... or at a minimum a "sure you wanna do this" but neither just gone.
I understand you can't have Mobile me AND Exchange sync since those are both over the air...but can't I have all my work data sync in real time and my personal calendar and address book just sync when I connected to sync my itunes library since those don't change much? Surely... you can have two calendars (or at least two views?) and lists of contact's- can't you??

FYI My personal contacts and calendar are in "address book" and "ical"... if you couldnt guess that.

  • Address Book to Exchange 2000 syncing problem

Good morning all, my instincts tell me this is an issue on the exchange server but my hopes are someone clever will see something so here we go:
Address Book syncing to exchage had been working flawlessly with a larger exchange contact list (~1000). Then it just stopped. But only for one user (the only one who needs it).
Other than the manditory MS security updates, the only change to this user's windows environment has been the introduction of Office 2003 on his desktop PC.
I have created an additional acct on the mac and still no luck. As a test I altered the address book > exchange sync settings for different exchange users and everything worked on both thte new & old mac account. Therefore it's on the exchange/AD server or possible some system level setting specific to this user on the mac (sounds like a stretch, huh)...
No changes have been made to Outlook Web Access and the user's active directory account has not been altered--syncing just stopped around the time of 10.4.7 & outlook 2003 on the PC.
Any MS/Exchange/Mac gurus out there with a clue? Thanks.

  • Address Book and using with Motorola v600

I'm having trouble using the "Dial with cell phone" and "SMS Message" functions in Address Book with my Motorola v600. I click on the Bluetooth button in Address Book to pair it with my phone, and the pairing is successful. However, the functions are still grayed-out.
I'm able to sync my Address Book and Calendar with my v600 phone using iSync. And I'm also able to navigate through the audio/video filles on my phone using Bluetooth File Exchange. So I don't think there's a problem with the connection.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the SMS and Dial with Cell Phone functions in Address Book to work with the Motorola v600? Thanks.

wait, i meant contacts. for some reason the ipod touch will sync with windows contacts but won't sync with windows calendar.
he will need microsoft outlook to sync his calendar.
for contacts he doesn't need extra software:
in the overview screen when the ipod is connected to itunes there is an info tab, in the contacts section, set it to sync with windows contacts.

  • Need help with Mail address book and calendar.

    Hello,
I am a new Mac User. I just purchased my first MacBook. My goal is to switch totally over to Mac for both home and work. I was able to get the mail program to pull down my exchange mail, however it does not appear to have taken in my address book.
My goal would be for my machine to totally sync up with my mail, and calendar the same way that my iPhone does. Is there a way to do this?
If I can't get my contacts and calendar to "sync". I will not be able to use my Mac at work.
Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jason

I do not believe you can sync your data between Outlook and Address Book and iCal. You can transfer data using a third-party utility, Outlook2Mac. However, you could integrate with your Outlook account using Entourage, one of the Office 2008 applications. You would have to purchase Microsoft Office 2008.
