Address book and Sim Card

Is there a way to completely delete all contacts from my sim card?  Also, how can I add my phone numbers from my address book to the sim card all at once instead of one by one?

Hi,
SIM Card Contacts can only be deleetd one by one.
Address book entries cannot be copied to the SIM Card except by manually adding them.
The SIM Card has 99 entries MAX, with space for a single 10 digit number and (approx) 10 character name.
The blackberry has Home, Work, Mobile, fax numbers, email addresses, names, pictures, addresses and HEAPS of other details
There simply isnt the space to copy the data across and rather than allow you to copy  name and mobile only (and Loose all the other details) it doesnt allow you to do anything like that.
You KNOW that if they gave people the option they would blame RIM saying :"I thought it would copy EVERYTHING including the pictures to the SIM Card and still allow me to use it in another phone, etc, blah, blah, blah....."

  • Address book and Sims Card

I have the BB 8310 and some how i sent my addresses to the sims card and cannot get them back into my address book. Everytime I look for a number I have to go to the Sims address book

So when you go into the Address Book, hit your menu button, select SIM Phone Book. Do all the names show up after it loads? If so try displaying the menu and choose Copy All To Address Book.
If you've already done that the and Address Book appears empty check and make sure no filters are enabled. Within the address book hit your menu button and select Filters. If anything is checked, uncheck it.

  • Contacts issues - send contacts to at&t phone book or sim card? and un able to unsync email contact list with phone contact list

I have had several issues with my contacts on this phone. I cannot figure out how to send my contacts to the at&t phone book or to my sim card. The options/menu button in contacts is completely useless. It should give me the option on the sim card to transfer contacts form one list to another. I have already written on another forum about the contact list not letting me unsync one of my email contact lists and how I have 3 copies of all of my contacts because my email contacts are mixed in with my phone contacts.
BB really needs to fix this issue with the contact list because it is beyond frustrating. I even downloaded the new BB software today and it still hasn't been fixed.

OK...so this post is strictly about wanting to send your contacts to the SIM. That capability is one at a time only. And there's a reason for that.
The BB Address Book is robust, allowing you to have one name with multiple phone numbers and addresses. The SIM phonebook, on the other hand, is much less capable...if, for instance, you have one contact with three phone numbers in your BB Address Book, the SIM phonebook would require three separate entries to contain the same data (with the obvious duplication of the name on three separate records).
So, I must ask...why on earth do you want to send your contacts to your SIM? There are much better methods for moving your contacts from the BB to somewhere else...

  • I want to delete all the cards in personal address book and collected address, so I delete all of them, but when I reboot thunderbird, they all came back.

I want to delete all the cards in personal address book and collected address, so I delete all of them, but when I reboot thunderbird, they all came back.

Select Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Show Folder to open the profile folder in your OS's file manager, exit TB, delete (or move to another location) abook.mab (Personal Address Book) and history.mab (Collected Addresses). When you restart TB, you should have empty PAB and CA address books.

  • Different names interchanging in Address Book and Owner login

    A bizarre problem:
I have a nephew who is listed in my contact list whose name is the same as mine except for our middle names (he is named for me!). The middle names are included in both cards, and the rest of the contact information is quite different.
Address book and the .Mac registration continue to confuse the two of us, and .Mac changes my card to his name and my contact information consistently. I have corrected the information on several occasions, only to have it changed through .Mac again.
    Help!!!!
    1. How do I get the contacts to be consistently and correctly distinguished in the Address Book propagation via .Mac?
    2. How do I get the Account ownership in each machine (I regularly use 6 different machines with the same login ID coordinated via .Mac) to reflect the correct one of us?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.....

You probably have a Caller ID Issue.
The most common causes of caller ID problems are:
    - duplicate entries in your contacts, including entries stored on your sim card. This is a problem becuase the phone does not know which name to display and so it doesn't display any. Duplication also includes the same number in different formats. Try searching for a PART of the number as if for example you search for +353 123 456 789, it won't find +353123456789, whereas if you search for 6789 it would.
Having different formats is a problem for caller ID.
    - using your international dial code instead of "+", eg: using 00353123456789 (wrong) instead or +353123456789 (right).
    - spaces in numbers (some phones, some firmware versions only), eg: +353 123 456 789 (wrong) instead or +353123456789 (right).
    - MS Outlook putting "(0)" in number - if you define a country for a contact in MS Outlook it will automatically add a country code and insert a "(0)" in the number in front of the area code, eg: +353123456789 becomes +353 (0) 123456789. You need to remove the "(0)"s
    - there has been reports of more than 7 digit numbers causing problems. Some phones may not differentiate between +353123456789 and +353993456789.

  • How to restore Address Book and then add working iCloud Account?

OK i'm going insane trying to resolve this one.... all started with a shed load of Duplicates!
3 devices:  MacBook Pro, iMac, iPhone 4S
I finally upgraded the MBP to 10.7.2, the iMac already was and the iPhone was already 5.0.1
I've held off moving to iCloud from Mobile.me because of the 10.6.x MBP
...so now all on the same song sheet, I clicked the upgrade to iCloud from my MBA and all went well!
The MBA pushed 1352 address cards to the iCloud and I only had the iCloud account showing in my Address Book.
My iPhone then happily went iCloud and downloaded ALL the calendars (and I have far too many....I'll clean up soon, promise ;-)
but i hadnt turned on Contact sync for a very good reason.
I DON'T WANT ALL MY CONTACTS ON MY iPHONE!
So having found some advice, it says you have to keep everything you dont want in iCloud, in the On My Mac account
(which I didnt appear to have at that point)
I turned my iMac on and connected to the iCloud, all went well and I again had a single iCloud account in Address Book with 1352 cards
I then went Address Book/Preferences/General/Deafult Account/On My Mac and it generated the empty On My Mac account in the Address Book.
Highlighting ALL my iCloud address cards and dragging them to On My Mac, a successful duplication was made.
Highlighting ALL my iCloud address cards and deleting, all three devices now had NO contacts in the iCloud related accounts (what I wanted)
I then turned on Contact sync on my iPhone and it pushed 186 contacts to the iCloud and in turn to all 3 devices (perfect!)
but then came the fun part....
On my iMac, the On My Mac account had gone from 1352 to over 1900 with loads of duplicates. So I selected ALL deleted and restored from an Address Book backup prior to going iCloud. This began my problem....
if I restore it WIPES the iCloud account from the machine and leaves me with 1352 in On My Mac,
if I try and add an iCloud account it then wants to upload the 1352 into the iCloud which I dont want.
If I delete all, setup iCloud acount first I get the 186 correctly, but the moment I restore from backup it overwrites and I'm again left with On My Mac and no iCloud account
    AHHHHHH!
how on earth do I get the working iCloud with 186 (which is perfectly fine on 3 devices) and restore 1352 in ON MY MAC, so my iMac Address Book has two accounts very seperate from each other.   I want the 186 on my MacBook Pro and iPhone, but I want an iCloud account with 186 and an On My Mac with 1352 on the iMac
    ANY advice welcome
    TIA

Thanks havinabubble for your assistance.  I'm having all sorts of problems with iCloud because we've got iphone 3g's which means the iCloud is working on our mac and ipads but not on our iphones.  I've been trying to solve this problem for days and I lost my "on my mac account" along the way. Once I followed your section where you gave directions how to "generate the empty On My Mac account" I was able to re-establish my contacts list on my mac.  Your suggestion was very valuable. Thank you.

    SOLVED!
thanks to a bit of sleep and https://discussions.apple.com/message/17282476#17282476
cheers to Winston Churchill who's post gave me the solution!
with On My Mac selected, highlight and DRAG TO DESKTOP
then highlight ALL and DELETE ALL
add the iCloud account which replaces ALL contacts with the 186 from the iCloud.
select Address Book/Preferences/General/Default Account/On My Mac and it generates the empty On My Mac account in the Address Book.
DRAG the 1352 back into On My Mac account
    now have two accounts...
    PROBLEM SOLVED, thanks Winston!

  • Multiple birthdays in Address Book on one card

Hi. I am trying to figure out how to list multiple birthdays for an entire family on one card in AddressBook. For example...
My sister has 3 children. I have her name in AddressBook that synchs with I-Cal.
I have her birthday listed but I want to find a means to list her childrens birthdates on the same address card so they appear in I-Cal too.
    thanks..

    Hi,
You could add the birthday dates as custom dates in Address Book and use Dates to iCal.
    Best wishes

  • Address book and iPhone sync... two issues

    Hi,
I have two problems. The first is that every time I add, edit or delete contacts on my iPhone, the changes are never reflected on my computer no matter how many times I sync. This has not always been the case but I am unsure how long this has been going on as it is not easily noticed due to the fact that I have over 1500 contacts.
I decided to bite the bullet and allow my address book on the computer to wipe my iPhone contacts. When I did I ended up with 1513 cards on my address book and only 1510 cards on my iPhone!
How is this possible? Is anyone else suffering from the fact that the iPhone does not update the computers address book?

The most plausible explanation is that you have 3 contacts on your computer that have corrupted data and could not be transferred. In addition, ANY corrupted records on the computer prevent a normal sync from happening.
You need to find the bad records. One way to do this is to create a new group in Address Book, and put some of the contacts in this group. Then sync the group to the iPhone. If it works, continue adding more until it stops syncing. You then know the set with the bad data. One neat trick is called "binary search". Add half you contacts to the group. If it works, the problem is in the other half, so swap the halves. If it doesn't work, move half of the contacts OUT of the group and try again. Follow this process, halving each time to keep bad contacts in the group until you have located them.

  • IPhone email, Mail and Address Book (and MobileMe)

    Hi All.
Can someone please explain to me how Mail is able to use the Address Book contacts - if in fact it does use the Address Book contacts - on my laptop and my desktop?
I am currently on Thunderbird but have other software that I am told syncs to Address Book. This would make my life easier. I am thinking about converting to Mail instead of Thunderbird (to cut out one step in the "food chain" but I want to be sure I am making the right move and understand what I am doing.
Also, can anyone explain to me what my iPhone email is accessing when it tries to do an autocomplete?
Do the "Contacts" on my iPhone sync up to Address Book in any way via MobileMe??
Thanks for help on any of that...
    Jon

    Hi Daiya.
I can't tell you how much help this is.
Yes, iPhone Contacts sync to Address Book, via either iTunes sync or MobileMe.
This is sort of funny isn't it? That they are called Contacts on the iPhone and Address Book on MobileMe and on my laptop?
I believe the iPhone autocomplete checks both your Contacts AND any recently used addresses--there's no built-in method to clear the recently used addresses, as far as I know.
This is true for both MobileMe mail, GMail and for my website based email ([email protected]), yes?
You might also check out Postbox--from what I understand, it's built on Thunderbird, but it says it talks to the Mac Address Book and other parts of OS X.
    Thanks!
Integration with OS X features does seem to be Thunderbird's weak spot--I actually use MS Entourage, which has reasonable integration, much better than Thunderbird. I'd say it's not so much that you need to cut out a step in the food chain as that Thunderbird just doesn't participate in the OS X food chain.
Hi. Thanks. I'm planning on getting CardScan (where I handle Business Cards) synced up with Address Book. I can do this and it would be really simple I am told.
The question is now where do I go from there.
I have not read up on PostBox yet but I am starting to think that I need to perfect my Address Book in Thunderbird and export it to Address Book. Then I can start handling email in Mail.
If I do this, my thought is that my business cards will be synced with Address Book, Address Book will be synced with Mail (on my laptop and my desktop) and Address Book will be synced with my iPhone Contacts (where I compose email).
    How does that sound??!!
    Long time goal over here...

  • How to merge faces from address book and Facebook?

I like faces, however, when I start to type the name of somebody on the picture (me), I can choose 2 different "me" - one is from address book and on from facebook. Is there any possibility that Facebook would recognize people from facebook and connect them to my address book (or the other way)?

    I found this:
In Address Book (or "Contacts") select both cards that correspond to the same person (probably one card you created and the other generated from facebook), you can do this by Command+clicking.
Then, under 'Card' menu select 'Link Selected Cards'. Voila, they are now one card. Address Book still remebers these are two seperate cards, and you can always edit this back later.
If you prefer, you can then select the "leading" card that will be represented in the name, through the 'cards' field at the bottom of that person's card.
Since iPhoto uses Address Book's database, this should solve the duplicate person problem, though I haven't tested this thouroughly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Moving Mail, Address Book and Keychains from Old Computer to New Computer

My issue: Moving mail, address book and keychains from Panther (old machine) to Leopard (new machine). Old machine (500mh G4 power pc) will not connect directly via firewire to new machine (iMac intel). So, I have to move the files manually via a firewire hard drive.
I am looking for a document that will tell me exactly which files to move. Can someone please help me find this document? Thank you. Dale
P.S. I have no issues with installing Leopard. I only need to move the mail, address book and keychains from old to new machine. No .mac account is available.

for address book: go to your old mac, launch ab, and go to file>export and export your contacts as vcards, select all cards before that, then bring that export file to the new mac, and launch ab there, then go to file>import as vcards and you should be set as far as contacts are, but not as far as groups if you have extensive groups. that would be the safe option. the other option is to go to homefolder/library/application support/address book and move that folder to the new mac. the only question i have is... is the database structure and files the same between panther and leopard, which is why i suggest the first option of import/export of vcards.
for mail, in your old panther go to homefolder/library/mail and move that mail folder to the new mac. make a copy of that folder, then move one copy to the same location in the new mac.
for keychain, in your old panther go to homefolder/library/keychain, you want to bring the file that is in that folder to your new mac. make a copy of that folder, then move one copy to the same location in the new mac.
once that is done, you may have to do some more steps with mail, once you launch mail, such as importing mailboxes. let me know if that is the case.
    hope this helps

  • Address Book and stolen phone

I think I've figured out the answer to this already I'll ask anyways. My wife's iPhone 3g was ripped off on Sunday. We reported the phone stolen to AT&T that night. My question involves the address book, my wife kept passwords and SS # in the address book. I've already changed her dot mac password but I'm wondering if there is a way to completely reset dot mac so that if the phone attempts to sync over wireless all of her info will just disappear? We known the crook took a credit card number out of her address book and tired to use it. Of course this won't work if they do not hook up to wi-fi or have turned off push sync.
    thanks,
    jeff

    How unfortunate.
Not sure of a global reset on MobileMe, but you can certainly manually delete that information and it would have been erased by the push sync. I state 'would have been' because if you changed the password, I would think the iPhone will no longer connect to MobileMe (it will ask for the new password), so the blanked entries will not be pushed to the phone.
For the future, you might want to consider either a) not storing such sensitive, personal information on a portable device like a mobile phone, b) if you do, enable a passcode lock on the iPhone or c) store the information in one of the apps designed for that, where the data are password protected and encrypted.

  • Address book and communigate problem

    Hi,
I need some advice about how I can transport my contacts list (currently in the form of a csv, comma separated value text file) into address book and then export in a format that can be used by the communigate pro interface. I am using macdock to host my site and have just paid for their mailbox add-on, but want to import these addresses into the address book within the communigate account.
I have managed to import the list into address book but it saves all the emails under one contact card, plus misses out a large number of them.
Has anyone been through a similar procedure?
    Any help most appreciated!
    Ben

Thank you. Update my system? Do you mean the OS or the Mail program? My bosses name is Rose. When I type in Rose, Mail doesn't link to the Address Book. Neither the last name or the email address appears.

  • Address book and Mail help needed

Greetings. I recently switched from Entourage to Mail. I'm having some troubles with Address Book and Mail. I hope that someone can help.
    1. I can't seem to find an easy way to determine if an email address is already in the Address Book. In Entourage, if the email address is not in the address book, it gives me the option to add it with a link at the top of the mail window. How can I tell if an email address from an incoming mail is in the Address Book or not?
    2. In Mail, when I right-click on a mail address that I am sure is in the Address Book, it often gives me the option to "Add to Address Book". Other times, it will give me the option to "Open in Address Book". There doesn't seem to be a pattern. Is there something that I can do to fix this inconsistency?
    3. In Entourage, when adding a new email address to the address book, I can just click on the button in the mail window to do that, which automatically opens the new address, and then I can edit information and add a category. In Mail, the same functionality requires several separate steps (Add to Address Book, open Address Book, find new email address, click on edit to make changes, drag to Group). Is there some way to streamline the process in Mail?
    Thanks much.

I have the same problem as #2.
I have a contact who sends me email from two addresses. However, in mail, the two address return different sender names - one is his initial "j" and the other is his full name.
This makes it annoying to sort threads by the "from" field, or search for that sender.
I added both to the address book, opened address book, and selected "merge contacts."
They merged. But in mail, they still return different sender names! Merge failed!
After merge, all the "j" emails still offer "add to address book" when i click them. When I do this, it creates a new address card, and if I merge this with the old merged card, then the email goes back to offering "add to address book" instead of updating all those emails with the sender's full name. Basically Mail is ignoring the address book just for that sender!
I tried "add to address book" -> quit mail -> open address book
    There was the entry.
    Then open mail,
There was the email, "open in address book" appeared and so I did.
I edited the name to match the full name.
Go back to mail. Still listed in mailbox as "j" instead of full name.
Now "add to address book" has returned to the choices!
    Seems like a bug!!!

  • Address Book and Bookmarks

I recently got an iBook G4 and I would like to share my address book and bookmarks for Safari from my iMac G5, so I have that same info on both computers. Is there an easy way to do that? I have an airport wireless network in my house so I use the dsl connection with both. Thanks!

You could Export all your addresses from the one computer and import them onto the other computer. Just Highlight all your cards and click Export ~ You can save it to your Desktop and then email it to yourself on your other computer. Then, when you get the email on your other computer, open the email, and click on the vCard you've sent yourself. It will import all the cards to your address book.
