ADDRESS BOOK- cell phone use_pairing_

I having paired my cellphone Moto Razr with my powerbook g4 it works with everything except address book. Help says I should be able to use caller id and make calls by dialing numbers with Address Book. I hit the bluetooth button in address book and it asks for a passkey any help?

It's possible, though admittedly tedious, to get your addresses formatted on a country-specific basis.
If you export your contacts either as individual VCards or one large VCard, these files are in an editable text format. With an editor like TextEdit, you can quite easily edit the foreign addresses to use something other than the default address format (US, in your case).
For each address field you will find two lines beginning something like:
item3.ADR;type=HOME; +(home street address follows)+
item3.X-ABADR:us
That trailing ":us" in the 2nd line is the country format code (the item numbers will vary). You can change it on a per-entry basis to ":de" for German addresses, ":fr" for French addresses (are they different?), etc, etc. After editing the VCard file(s) they can be reimported into Address Book - of course, you'll have to deal with the duplicate entries for each of the reimported contacts...

  • How to add groups from address book to phone?

I copied contacts from phone to isync and then in address book I created groups which I then added contacts to.
However when I did a sync with phone it did not add these groups

I thought will be easier to do it on mac then copy over

    Hi
I have the same problem. I'm on a Nokia E51 and it synchronizes the individual contacts fine.
Starting point: None of my contacts where parted in groups.
2: I made a group in my adressbook called "FIR" wich is my studygroup.
3: I can still synchronize the contacts. But the group ("FIR") i've created does not show up on my phone!?
Do I have to make the "FIR" group on the phone myself? I figured it would be easier to make the group in AdressBoook and then Synch it.

  • Within my address book contacts, phone numbers and-or addresses are duplicated at random.

I use several Macbook and Iphones but am very carefull to use only one addressbook on the macs as the source for all changes, I am using I cloud now but suddenly, totally at random, contacrs have  disappeared, lost all info except the phone number, or WITHIN the contact file (the "card) the address or phonenumbers are duplicated.
I have a last copy of the most recent address book om my mac and would like to "clean -up" this mess.
Any advice?? And what is the correct procedure to sync contacts on all devices?
    Marc

Funny that somebody "bumped" this because we've run into the same problem with my wife's iphone 3GS, mainly in using Bump and also Mover. I send her a contact this way from my iPhone and it arrives safe and sound. But it never gets into her contacts database. However--it does show up in Spotlight searches. This is in fact the only way to find it. Since I sent it several times it shows up several times, but only once with the Contacts icon next to it.
Anybody have any ideas? We are also using MobileMe, for whatever that is worth.

  • Address Book and Phone Probs

so i'm running Tiger OS 10.4 on a macbook and i recently paired up my macbook to my motorola razr by bluetooth. i sync'd my address book on my phone to my computer but when i click the "mobile" or "home" labels on my address cards on my computer, the "make calls" and " send sms messages" in the dropdown menu don't aren't highlighted, preventing me from performing either functions.
does anyone know of any troubleshooting for this or has anyone encountered similar problems? is my phone simply not compatable with this function or have i made some sort of error while syncing my phone and computer?
    thanks!

It seems to be a problem with address book. I have a nokia e70 and 9300i and i can't connect any of them to address book. It just ask for the pairing key and then i have to go again with all the process.

  • Address Book - mobile phone drop-down menu to send SMS via iChat

Using iChat, you can send a SMS text message to mobile phones using the format of +19375551212. And depending on the wireless service, the receipient can reply to the text message and that message will appear via iChat. Anyone know of any plugin or app that can add this menu option to the mobile phone number menu?

  • N9 PR1.1 update screwed up the phone, address book...

Oh yeah now my facebook and web apps work perfectly BUT this almost completely destroyed my address book and phone apps. Well who would like to add address to address book anyway. Come on! Give me a sw that has the basic functionality working. Maybe I fall back to the older one...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Almost all the basic apps are now working very badly. Example camera app: I took a picture and it doesn't save the file to the device properly. The other is the address book as I said it let's me open a add new contact page, but when I try to save it the app crashes. The same with cancel saving. So I think I'm going to try to backup everything to my pc and then fall back to the older sw and then run factory settings and then the update and let's see what happens.
I guess there are two possible reasons why this happened. If u can figure put something else please let me know...
    1) I don't know if it has to do with my problem but I run the update with the developer mode on.
    2) The other option is that I got the device from the Qt developer days and I run the update from Finland. But this affects only if the sw is somehow area dependent

  • AppleScript to add "1-" before Address Book phone numbers

I transferred all my Contacts from another program into OS X's Address Book, all phone numbers begin with the area code. I'd like to add "1-" before every area code. Is there an AppleScript to do this?

It's certainly possible to do via AppleScript, but you should probably ask your question in the AppleScript Forum if that's the path you want. You'll have a higher success rate there.

  • Bluetooth Dialing in Address Book with Treo 650

    Hi,
I've been trying to use Address book to dial numbers with my Treo 650 via bluetooth. Thus far, I have not succeeded. Does anyone know if this is even posssible with the 650? My phone connects to my PowerBook G4 without problems. However, when I hit the bluetooth button in Address Book, my phone comes alive and looks like it's making a connection, but nothing ever comes of it. When I try to hit the "Dial with cell phone" function in AB after the attempted pairing, it's grayed-out and in accessible. Anyone have any advice on how to fix the problem?
    Thanks,
    B
    Al PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Most times this is a Bluetooth/phone compatability issue, rather than an Address Book problem. Try reposting on the Bluetooth page for your particular computer. Look in the Computer Hardware section in the top left corner of the discussions home page.

  • ISync syncs to wrong Address Book group

When I sync my phone (Nokia 3230) with my MacBook, I designate the Address Book group titled "Contacts in 3230" to be synced. But contacts that I've added to the phone (my usual way of adding new contacts) are transferred to my "All" contacts in Address Book, but NOT to the designated group. To correct this, I have to manually try to remember what contacts were added to the phone, and then copy them from "All" into the "Contacts in 3230" group.
How can I make iSync sync to the designated group?
    Many thanks for your advice.

I have the same problem with a Nokia 6230. Really annoying as i sync has now cluttered up my mac address book with phone contacts that i wanted in a specific group called 'nokia back up' Also I tried putting a test item in this folder and this did not download onto the phone. I don't want my phone filled with all of my contacts and i don't want my mac filled with all the temporary contacts that end up in a phone on a Friday night. All i want is to back up my phone to my mac in case i loose it. should be simple enough!

  • Address book entries

When you are entering an new contact phone number in the Macbook WHY does it make you enter the dashes. It should know you are entering a phone number like it does on the IPHONE.
Also, why doesn't the main screen of the IPHONE TEXT area not have a comma? I realize you have to go to the # screen but it would be more convenient.

Your Macbook Address Book doesn't require that. Just type the number and it will automatically format it.
Go to Address Book -> Preferences -> Phone and be sure "Automatically format phone numbers" is checked. Choose the format you prefer from the drop down menu.

  • Nokia 6350 Error in Address Book.

I just updated my phone using Nokia Ovi Suite and restored from a backup, now when I go to the Address Book, after 3 seconds it gives me "No settings found.  Contact your service provider." error.  I only use this phone for calling, no email/im services/texting, just calls so what is it trying to accomplish?

Hey Photobug and all - Similar issue here. I realized what the issue was. After upgrading my 6350 through OVI the address book syncing no longer works.
First off, the tech is either straight out lying to you, or is ignorant of deeper technical issues. On these phones, the ATT apps are included in the firmware. This is why there are different variants of the firmware for the same phone for each different provider. The specific variant for ATT will contain all of the apps with it. When your firmware gets installed, all of the old firmware and apps get wiped clean from the flash. The problem with the ATT variant of RM-455 version 13 firmware is that there is yet another rediculous app from ATT called ATT Address Book. It runs in the background and prevents address book syncing with OVI. I guess ATT want you to sync only with their server, similar to cloud computing (like I want them to have access to the contact numbers for all my business contacts).
So, who's to blame? ATT for introducing an untested app that can't be shut down into the latest firmware, and Nokia for propogating it through OVI - in short they both are to blame. Nobody did any product testing here??? And you guys wonder why the Asian companies are kicking your butts! Syncing ones address book is pretty basic functionality that is needed for anyone with multiple phones or anyone that would like to back their data up. Not to mention, the new firmware is pathetically slow compared to the older version 4.96.
There is a work around, but it is a pain. What you have to do, is to do a complete reset of the phone, erasing all your content. After the reset DO NOT GO TO YOUR ADDRESS BOOK ON THE PHONE because this is the action that launches the ATT Address Book app. Before you do anything else, do an address book sync. It will work, so that you can get all of your contacts back on the phone, but as soon as you access the data on the phone, you won't be able to sync again due to the ATT Address Book app launching - once it launches it takes over syncing duties, and prevents OVI from syncing. Why do companies always have to destroy a perfectly good product with an endless amount of feature creep???
Unless Nokia can release a new firmware rev without the ATT Address Book, this phone (and the spare 6350) are going in the trash and this will be my final Nokia product. It's too bad as well, as the little 6350 was everything that I personally needed in a phone. The 3G tethering worked great (at least with version 4.96 firmware), the MP3 player was fantastic, and it never dropped a call. Not to mention it fit perfectly in my back pocket. I'm back to using my Apple iPhone 3GS for now until I have a chance to look at some of the new Samsungs...
If anyone has further info, please post it! Cheers - Trev

  • Address Book in swirling rainbow mode

I have tried to merge address cards but instead have sent address book into a swirling mess. I think it is trying to merge all information into all cards. Help Is there anyway I can undo my large error?
What I did was to highlight all 802 names in one of my groups and hit the drop down pane (the one that looks like a gear) and hit merge card choice. I was trying to merge duplicate cards. Have I ruined the entire address book? Thanks for any help. Pegs

Oh dear. Merge cards is for taking the data from two or more cards and making one card. Sometimes for example I have email details for someone in Address Book and phone details for them on my phone. When I do a sync (a handy way of backing up your phone!) I have them on two separate cards - so I select both and merge them. You have asked AB to make one card from more than 800 - no wonder it puts up the swirling pizza of death!
Try this (but I don't know if it will help in this case):
    Quit Address Book.
In folder ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook drag file AddressBook.data to the desktop. Rename AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data and restart AB. If it starts OK and your group has its 800 cards breathe a sigh of relief, otherwise quit AB again and repeat the drag/rename process, this time with AddressBook.data.beforesave.
Remember that Address book has a backup function!
The operation that you actually wanted in AB was Card/Look for Duplicate Entries. I have not used it recently, but the last time I looked it doesn't give you a lot of flexibility in dealing with them. I have an Applescript that I use for the purpose, as I have several apparent duplicates that are in fact separate contacts. If you would like a copy I will post it.

  • How to sync ACT, Gmail and BBerry address books

A number of months ago I acquired a BBerry Bold; my current email  client is Gmail. Starting with an ACT database of about 6,000 names, addresses, phones and emails.  Tried to sync using an ACT data dump as a txt file. NOT GOOD!. I have gotten names into Gmail's address book without phone numbers or other info. Have sync'd ACT with Outlook with some success, but it runs slow. Outlook is last resort option
At this point i would like to clear the BBerry and Gmail databases and using a smaller ACT database sync my ACT, BBerry and Gmail data.
    Suggestions please
Does anyone have experience with managing ACT, BBerry and Gmail databases?
    Thanks.

  • Dialing from address book entries with area codes

All entries in the address book have phones with the area code prepended. Just the area code, not including the "0" before the area code to identify it.
When the iPhone dials a number this way, ZXNXXXXXXX (asterisk format), the carrier replies an error message informing the number is wrong. Both TIM and Claro do that. If an "0" is dialed before the Z, then the call goes through. Adding the 0 to the number is not an option, for it will mess when roaming abroad.
The Motorola, K1, V3 and DEXT (Android - Cliq in the USA), knows how to dial calls without the preceding "0".
Is there a fix to this problem?
    Thanks

  • Backup Lumia800 address book

    Hi!
I started using my Lumia800. During the installation I entered my old hotmail account as Live-account which I don't use anymore. I realized that is essential part of the system so I created more appropriate Windows Live account (new hotmail).
Now I can't change the account into the new one without full reset of phone. The question is how can I backup my address book from phone before I reset the phone? I can't use my Live account since the wrong one is configured into phone. In Zune you can only backup media files. Im confused...

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So if your contacts, are stored on Windows Live, the do an 'export' from your old account. then log into your new Windows live account and do an 'import'.
You could reset your phone after you've done the export, and before the the import.
'Export' / 'Import' can be found in 'Manage' on our Windows Live ' Contacts' view.
