Address book & Dial cell phone

I cannot seem to pair my iPhone with my G5 desktop on use the feature called "dial with cell phone" . Does anyone know if this works??

Yes and no. At least in my opinion.
Before iPhone Apple worked with mobile hardware makers to integrate features like you describe into Address Book to make it easier to manage calls and Address Book contacts.
Now, on the iPhone those same contacts are all on the iPhone. I can see how someone at Apple might come to the conclusion that the "dial with phone" feature would not be implemented. I did use the feature all the time with my Sony Ericsson W810i, but I don't miss it at all with my iPhone.

Thunderbird's Address Book can be synchronized with Google Contacts. Look for gContactSync and similar to add-on to Thunderbird.

how do you take your address book from your phone to your computer

Have you ever synced your iPhone with your Mac?
If so, there are various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes for transferring your selected music, podcasts, photos, movies, tv shows, etc.
Under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes is where you select syncing contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac.
If the Address Book on your Mac is empty, follow the instructions included with my previous post.

  • Address Book-Bluetooth-Dial Cell Phone or Send SNS

I have repeatedly paired my Cell Phone to my Powerbook according to the available procedures. When I select a phone number in Address Book both "Dial on Cell Phone" and "Send SMS" are grey. The bluetooth symbol at the top of the Address Book page never turns blue as described after successful pairing of my cell phone to my computer. I would like to use my Address Book with my cell phone (Motorola V557). Please tell me how!

  • How do I Transfer Mac Address Book to a Phone

Im not what you'd call a techie or an early adopter.  I just recently got a Macbook Pro.  I've input my contacts into the Address Book but am wondering  how do I transfer that to a phone.  Is there a way?  I'm assuming there's an easy way to do that with an iphone...at least I'd hope so since they are both Apple products...But how do you do that with another phone (whether it be an Android or a regular feature phone).  Is there an easy way to do this?
I dont have all my contacts (phone numbers and emails) listed in any of my email account address books (like gmail) and I dont use Facebook or Outlook - these are the ways other people told me I could transfer that data.  Is there any other way?
I also wonder how people do it when they are switching cell phone carriers.  If youre going from Verizon to ATT or Tmobile to Sprint or MetroPCS to Boost...or do I just need to make sure I have a copy of everything stored somewhere so I can easily transfer them.  Luckily I dont have as many contacts as most people, but I can still see this being a pain.
Im sure there's probably a way although it may not be easy.
    Thanks

Ill take a look at that website.  I have heard you can sync with Gmail or Yahoo.  The problem is Ive never stored contacts there.  There's a lot more spam in those histories than contacts Id want to keep.
I wasnt asking about a particular phone but in general.  Im not really a techie and I currently have an older non-smartphone.
Im assuming if I had an iphone, there would be an easy way to transfer or sync the address book.  If t here isnt, then Id be very surprised.
I might have to go with an Android or other phone only because the monthly plans on the iphone are much more expensive.
I was also wondering in general how it works with Verizon or Sprint since they dont have SIM cards.
Ill look at that site you recommended; thanks

  • Address book and bluetooth phone

    Hi,
I have been trying to use my bluetooth enabled mobile phone with the address book to dial numbers and send sms. I am using the Nokia N80, Nokia 9500 and the Motorola Razr V3 BLK. But when I pair the phone with address book and click on the tab of the contact, address book loses the bluetooth connection and the Send SMS and dial number options are not highlighted.
I have tried looking around for help, but haven't found anything other than BluePhoneElite. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me with this.
    Best Regards,
    Aditya

I have the same problem with my Nokia N70 whereas in the past I've had this address book connection with SE T610 and SE K700i, though with the 610 I had to troop round the re-pairing route a couple of times and with the 700i, I had to wait for Tiger.
If you clear the settings and pair again in the Bluetooth wizard, at the point where the paired services screen shows, the Address Book option is clearly missing. It may be that 10.4.6 has rewritten the configurations for these phones, or it may be that we have corrupted or outdated preference files and perhaps somebody could advise on which files we might check.
It's certainly frustrating to be missing this facility when my phone can both sync and work as a high speed modem through Bluetooth. The Address Book facility may be the lowest priority, but it remains a useful extra feature which I miss.

    Hi...
I use Dekart sim card reader for this. It allows you to manage your sim address book by reading the sim with software and hardware sim card reader. Also, sometimes your carrier can assist with this if your moving from a BB to a Cell.
You can also copy up to 250 addresses manually one at a time to your sim card and move it to your cell phone if you going to be using the same sim card.

  • Address book dialing & SMS problems

Just upgraded to a new iMac Intel from a G4, but same system, 10.4.8, software updated. I successfully used my Sony phone before to send SMSs, and dial, along with the normal sync, etc. On the new Mac, the SMS and dialing functions do not work, though it pairs and syncs with my address book fine. Same system, same phone, different computer (Intel), that's it.
When I recieved a call before, I could see who was calling me, but now it just says "unknown" so obviously the phone is not seeing the address book.
Ideas? I see other people have posted a similar story but not in such detail so I hope someone has an explanation. It still works with my old G4 as I type here.
I don't think this is a Bluetooth problem because it connected immediately, easier than ever before. So, I can only think it's an address book problem.

But it is not the same system! At the hardware level it is very different, and it may be that it is hardware related. I would suggest reposting the problem description, without the assumptions, it one of the iMac forums (eg Using).

  • 5800 sync address book with Landrover phone kit

I have succesfully connected the 5800 via bluetooth with a Landrover Freelander 2 car kit. But  I cannot get the address book to down load - it says downloding, but then the in car address book is empty. Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks

For the benefit of anyone else reading....I've found a partial solution.
Land Rover website (http://bluetooth.landrover.com/dial.aspx) says Nokia 5800 should be campatible with exception of call lists and automatic phonebook download - so the "copy from phone" won't work, but you should be able to select contacts on the phone and send them as business cards to the Freelander via bluetooth (you can "mark" more than one to send at once).
Unfortunately, I can't get this to work for contacts in my phone memory (though the website says it should work).  You can get around it by copying your contacts to your SIM first, and then sending them as business cards.
A bits fiddly, but it does work.  You can then delete all the SIM contacts - see the phone handbook for details.
    Hope that helps someone!

  • Address book sync problem: Phone #s & emails missing fr. iPhone

When I sync, I overwrite the iPhone address book and calendar with the one on my computer. I choose 'Replace information on this iPhone.'
Suddenly, none of the emails or phone numbers are showing up in the address book records on the iPhone. All the records are there, they're just missing the phone #s and emails. The phone numbers and emails are on the computer version of Address book, and other changes in the name and notes fields for each record are showing up.
Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?

I'm not sure what you mean. When I look in the Address Book, I see the email addresses for each of my contacts, but the problem is they aren't syncing to my iPhone. Do you know how I can resolve this???

  • 2 Address Books in 1 Phone ?

I recently got my 8830 replaced because some keys were not working on the keyboard.
Before I turned in my old phone I did an ipd backup.
After restoring the ipd into my new 8830 I noticed that most of the contacts in my GROUPS in my Address Book were missing.
When I looked at the "Device Databases" on Desktop Manager I noticed that there were 2 Address books.
    1. Address Book
    2. Address Book - All
I also noticed that they both had identical amount of contacts in them
but "Address Book - All" had more Bytes than "Address Book"
    Address Book - 1.26M
    Address Book - All - 1.33M
when I add/delete records on my phone and then ipd back up with Desktop Manager the amount of contacts remains the same on both Address books  but "Address Book - All" always has more Bytes than "Address Book"
I suspect that "Address Book - All" has all the GROUP member contacts intact.
How do I switch between the two Address books?

  • Exporting Address Book to LG600G Phone

My LG600G phone is not compatible with iSynch. By reading other discussion threads I learned how to create a vCard file of my Address data and export it to the cell phone. However, the vCard file on the cell phone shows up under My Stuff / Other Files. I don't know how to populate the cell phone's Contacts with the vCard's file data. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

  • Importing of AOL address book to I Phone

    Aloha All,
Can anyone walk me through importing my e-mail addresses from AOL to my 3G I Phone? And I need BABY STEPS here people. (LOL)
    Many Mahalos,

The only syncing that iTunes and the iPhone support from a Windows perspective are Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007 and Windows Address Book. I'm not aware of anyway to transfer an AOL addressbook to the iPhone. You may be able to transfer the AOL addressbook to a comma deliniated file, and then transfer it to Windows address book, then sync the phone. That would work. Again, I'm not familiar with the AOL addressbook, so this is just a guess.

  • Adding contacts to address book from old phone

How do I transfer all my contacts information to my new phone   IPhone from Samsung Eternity?  All from AT&T

You export your contacts from your Samsung phone (talk to AT&T if you don't know how) to a program on your computer like Outlook (Windows) or Address Book (Mac) and then synch your iPhone to your computer using iTunes.
