Address Book entries for members of the same household?

Has anyone a solution for the problem where you have multiple people living at one address, but you want all their separate work/mobile numbers and email addresses stored for syncing with your phone?
For example, I currently have separate entries for Mr and Mrs Smith with their mobile and work numbers and email addresses, but then in order to have a mailing label for printing out Christmas cards, I need to have a third separate entry entitled "Mr & Mrs Smith" with their home address.
This seems like a cumbersome solution - have any of you found a better workaround?

On your iPad tap Settings > iCloud. Make sure Contacts is ON.

Two address books and two iclouds on the same computer?

is there any way to have two seperate address books and two iclouds on one computer and/or one ipad2? i have the icloud synched for the macbook pro, ipad and my iphone 4s, but curious if my wife can have icloud and have seperate calendars and contacts. i don't want her to get my contacts and calendar synched to her iphone 4s. thoughts/suggestions anyone? appreciate it!

Look under Address Book/File - there should be an option to create a new group.

Address Book entries unusable in Outlook

Hello all,
I have updated iTunes, iPhone and Outlook to the most current software versions.
Here is my problem. Whenever I add or update an existing contact on my iPhone and then sync it to Outlook on my PC the address book entry (email) for that contact becomes unusable. If you try to edit or delete the address book entry you get the message "an invalid ENTRYID was passed in". If you try to use the address book entry to send an email it fails because it can't resolve the address book entry to an email address. This only happens with contacts sync'ed from the iPhone to Outlook. Even if I create the entry in Outlook, but edit it on the iPhone, like adding a picture to the contact, the next time it syncs to Outlook the address book entry for that contact then becomes unusable. I can repeat this problem over and over on my PC with my iPhone and on my wifes PC with her iPhone. I opened a ticket with Apple, but that went where I expected it to go which was nowhere. Googling shows that many others are having the same or a similiar problem. Any ideas on a permanent fix ? Is this a known bug ?

While Apple has never said anything official, my observations point to a problem in 1.1.3 where an entry created on the phone that did not have a first and last name did not create a proper index entry in the Outlook contact database. The problem (for me) was fixed in 1.1.4, but entries made in 1.1.3 were still corrupt. You can fix the broken records in the contact database by exporting the PST file, then importing it (in Outlook).

Address book entries lost

I noticed on a parallel topic that no one had answered.
I just started a new Macbook. I transfered address book via fire wire.
It tranfered fine. I used it.
I shut down my computer and then re opened it.
All address book entries disappeared.
Also, the book marks which I had transferred disappeared.
Any one know what is happening?
Mac book Mac OS X (10.4.8)

From the first computer I made a back up of my address book. My zip drive would not recognize this.
I transfered it to my new computer on a flash drive.
Then I told the new computer to use the back up copy of the address book. It worked.

Our CIO wants a few address book entries that if chosen, will all send to
the same account.
Seems easy enough but I haven't found a way, without creating a new account
that has some Forward or Delegate rule.
Is there a nicer way to do it without having another real GW account created
and using Rules?
I was kind of hoping to just create an External User that simply points to
the one account but it complains that that e-mail address already exists.

Why not using nick names ? The only downside is gw7 and earlier
nicknames don't show up in the address book. GW8 does show the
nicknames in the address book.

No e-mail address for contact on the same Exchange server in "From", when access is limited by address book policy

I have following awkward situation:
I have [email protected] and [email protected] on the same exchange server.
Address book policies for this users are configured in such way, so contoso.com users do not see tailspintoys.com users at all (customer address list, based on OU - different domain users are in different OUs; custom globaladdressbooks, based on PrimarySmtpAddress
filtering and custom Offline Address books, based on customized address list, mentioned earlier).
[email protected] send an e-mail to [email protected] When [email protected] checks his inbox (in OWA) he sees new e-mail but when he checks "From" field - he sees only the name and even when checking (double-click) contact details everything
is blank, no e-mail/phone/additional info.
I want users to have access to e-mail, so this problem does not occur (it causes other problems with replies in Outlook 2011 for Mac), but still do not want contoso.com users see tailspintoys.com users in any address books (offline/GAB).
Any suggestions?

According to the description, I found that you want to hide information except sender's display name (?) to another domain. Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.
Based on my experience, it is impossible.
Would you like to tell me the reason that why you want to hide additional information, maybe we can achieve this goal via other methods, like Outlook Rules or Transport Rules.
I also notice this, 'it causes other problems with replies in Outlook 2011 for Mac' , if there is any problem on Outlook 2011 for Mac, I suggest creating a new thread on the Mac forum.

How to highlight & copy text from Lightning address book, versus having to open the entry?

That I can tell, it isn't possible to highlight & copy text visible in the Contact Pane or the pane above it, the one with all the address book entries. Am I missing a way to do this?
It would sure make the use of the address book in Lightning a lot more convenient & quicker to use if one could do so. Please note I did not say edit. Instead, one is required to go through all the same steps as if editing. That is, open Properties & select the appropriate tab, then highlight & copy said information, instead of just being able to quickly copy the desired text.
It's only two more clicks, & the finding of the text, which can be cumbersome in some of the small field windows, especially for notes, but when doing this often, it sure becomes a pain. Notes in particular becomes a mini database for that address entry, whether it be your personal record for product information for something purchased (which could be extensive if many of the parts of something like a specific computer were noted), to sharing contact information with others.
A third use is when having to retrieve security information that is impossible to remember, such as your BTC account(s). By keeping it in the address book on an at-home computer, adds a bit more security, yet you can still easily access it.

Duplicates of elements for Address Book entries

I have looked through the various threads that discuss "duplicate" entries in Address Book (Contacts). My situation is a slight variation.
While I have a handful of AB people who have multiple entries (some have as many as 15!), my problem here is that most of my entries have double (and often triple) entries for an item. For example, two (or 3) Home Address items, or two (or 3) Home Phone items, etc. When an entry has double (or triple) values, everything for that entry (other than the Notes) is replicated in that same way -- spouses, children, ... everything.
I have a Mobile Me account. I have syncing in iTunes turned OFF on both computers. One computer is running 10.4 (and therefore has Address Book 4.0.6 as the latest version). The other is running the latest version of 10.6, with Address Book 5.0.3. We have two iPhones and an iPad.
What is suggested to correct the entries so that there is only one value for each of the fields?

having the same Issue, when I add a contact on my iphone ( or edit) after syncing over MObile me : 1 iphone, 1 desktop / 1 powerbook:
the contacts get doubled or trippled ( in all iphone and macs) and sometimes the I got up to 10 same phone number entries..
it seems to sync back and forth couple of times...

FF not connecting to web- This "Network Connections" message pops up: Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection. Any ideas?

About a month ago I could no longer connect to the internet on our PC. Every time I clicked on the Firefox icon the Netscape sign-on window would pop up. I would try to close it but it would pop up over and over again. If I tried to close it a dozen or so times eventually Firefox would open up but it would never connect. Just today I moved my Netscape file to the recycle bin. No longer does the Netscape sign-on window pop up but following Network Connection error message pops up: "Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection".. This error window behaves the same way the Netscape sign-on window used to behave. Every time I click to close it it pops open again. After numerous clicks Firefox opens up but it never connects.

Do you have this error message on a Mac computer or on a Windows computer?
I've only seen this error mentioned on a Windows computer.

"FROM" shows email address, not name, for a few address book entries

What is strange is that for the people it happens to, Mail IS able to successfully cross-reference them to an address book entry by showing their real name (and photo if I have one), in the BODY of the message. In other words, Mail will always resolved email address into names in the body of mail messages (100% of the time if I have a matching address book entry), but will only show names rather than addresses in the list view maybe 85% of the time. Weird. Seems like mail should either know the sender and display a name instead of address, or not. My issue is that is knows them in the body but doesn't in the messages list (above the preview pane).
I can't figure out what about the address book card for these few people is any different from the others one which do the name matching perfectly every time.
A small concern here, I know, but it is very annoying that I can't figure this out. I first noticed it back with Mail for Tiger. Any ideas?

you are right. It is easy to prove and Mail doesn't do anything of the sort when i try it. On the other hand if I change the From field when composing a message, any recipient (using mail or any other email client) will see that name. that name is sent with the message and you can see it if you view the raw source of the message. Mail certainly never changes raw source.

Copying a complete Address Book entry into the body of an email?

Is there a neat way (other than Copy/Paste one chunk at a time!!) to get a complete Address Book entry complete into the body of an email in plain text (NOT as a V-Card), if I want to send to someone who doesn't use an Address Book on their computer ?

The only way to do what you are asking about is to create an html email. This is possible and assuming you are using Leopard, you can use Mail to do this. Start a new email and select the Stationary button that by default is on the right corner of the new email message window.
Pages cannot be used to create html code and the only way to use Pages to create your newsletter would be to create a PDF and attach it. The other possible option would be to send your email with a link to a webpage. You could experiment with using the Share to iWeb function and see if this could work for you. (Since I swore off - not to mention at - iWeb some time ago I don't know how well this would work.)

I am looking for Groupwise Field definitions i.e. Field Names associated with Address Book entry (Contact and Organization). I am using OAPI to access the Contact's field values and set the Contact's field values by Field Name. Is there any place which has the list of all the field Names associated with Contact and Organization Address Book entry.
Note: Field Definitions for Address Book entries that are in PAB.
I also look for the comparision of Field Names in Groupwise 7.0 and Groupwise 8.0.

Why don't you iterate through all the field definitions of a given abook?
This will give you the list of all possible fields for an entry.

Welcome to the world of digital media. Your can't really transfer it. I don't know what the rules are about transferring to your spouse but I do know that in some cases when you die, your heirs cannot inherit your digital media. This is why there is still an advantage to buying the CD since the usage rights belong to whomever holds the physical media.
A possible workaround is to burn the songs to a music CD with yout account (tracks only without song titles) and then having your wife upload it as a regular music CD onto her account. It's been a while since i've done this so I'm not sure if it would work now.
Please note that I'm not advocating copyright and/or TOS violations. I'm only suggesting ways to copy music for your own personal use which has traditonally been permitted. I only did this because I wanted to convert iTunes songs to mp3 files so I could burn them onto a data CD for use in my car. It would make sense that since married couples are a joint entity, this would be personal use.
Also, I'm not a lawyer so don't take this as legal advice.
