Address Book link

A couple days ago, out of nowhere (unless someone who previously used the computer) a link to my address book appeared in my bookmark shortcuts (the bookmarks you see under the URL box)
I cant move it, delete it, right click it, it isnt in my bookmark organizer, and there are no links to my address' in it, I click it, and it says "No home pages in address book" and "Open address book" -so its completely useless.
how do you get rid of this option? I cant figure it out.

I think the poster is after the bookmark weblinks toggle. That's under Safari Preferences -> Bookmarks -> Bookmarks Bar: Include Address Book (and similarly for the Bookmarks Menu if the option appears there too for you).

Address book linked - new feature?

Faces now offers me people from my address book to use to tag photos. I'm pretty sure this has only been available in the most recent update but I'm not sure.
It very handily imports names and email addresses which you can then use with facebook.
Has anyone found a way to link a "Face" that ou have already created with an address book file?
I only seem to be able to do it when creating a new face.

This is a new feature in the latest update and doesn't appear to have an 'off' switch.
I'm surprised this has been developed/added as a feature as most users will have a substantially smaller number of people that they wish to build photo albums around compared to the number of contacts in their address book, and so it inevitably makes it more cumbersome to name faces.
For what its worth, I have less than 20 close friends and family on my 'corkboard' that I'm interested in going through the time investment of face recognition for verses 500+ address book contacts.
I will suggest to apple that they at least prioritise the names previously used in iPhoto within the drop down list.

BB address book linked to Outlook?

I set my desktop software up & phone but I don't see my BB address book contacts in my outlook. I'm new to BB phones so I'm not even sure if I will see it. I just figured I would. I have a Curve 8310. Any help is greatly apperciated! Thanks

Mum and I used to share same Apple ID. Now she has her own. But when i turn on iCloud on my phone. All her address book linked to mine. What should I do?

I am so sorry, i am very new to this community. Mum and I used to share apple id. Also I created the iCloud with my apple id. Then i created my mum a new apple ID for her. However, her addressbook and phonebook still synced with my phone through iCloud. What should I do?

Welcome to the Apple community.
If you have correctly set up a separate iCloud for your mother, then your contacts should not be syncing with your mothers. Are you absolutely sure that they are syncing and not just the same contacts.

Removal of different link address books

Dear all,
I have my passport and I have different address books link to my different MS outlook. Now I would like to remove them from my address book on my passport.
I am using BBLink.
What do I have to do to remove the complete MS outlook address book without doing a complete swipe ?

Hello,
Under settings on the BlackBerry there is an accounts option; one of these accounts should be a BlackBerry Link account. Removing this account will remove contacts and calendar appoinments sync'd by BlackBerry Link.

Birthdays of address book accounts others than local

There appear no birthdays in iCal for contacts of Apple's address book, if the contact are NOT within the Local account, but part of a CardDAV account. If I copy a contact to the Local account the birthday appears in iCal.
My iPhone (iOS4) uses also CardDAV to sync these contacts, but the birthdays are shown in the iPhone's calendar perfectly.
Is iCal able to handle birthdays of Local contacts only?

Sorry for the delayed response. As I said, this is a quick hack of somebody else's work, so the end result isn't pretty, but it works.

vbook is the script you run. It requires vcard.
To execute it, first export your address book entries into a single vcf file. In Address Book, select the server account. In the menu , select File->Export->Export Group vCard and put the file wherever you want it. The script as written expects to find this file in the folder above the script, but that's easy to change.
After you have the file in the right place, execute the script. It writes to standard output, so you'll probably want to pipe it to an .ics file. Then import that file into iCal.
As I mentioned, if you have multiple Macs, you'll want to run this file on each one, and import the file into a local calendar. If you try to put it on a server and share it between Macs, the address book links in the calendar entries won't work.
Obviously, this is a minor PITA as you need to run it regularly if you have a lot of changes in your Address Book. It's not too bad for me, because I don't have a lot of changing info. I run it every few months, whenever I think about it, in case I've recently added a birthday to my address book.
I'm hoping that this will all become unnecessary when iCloud rolls out

Everytime I write an email on the Apple mail app (as well as in Gmail) it recommends a bunch of emails that are not my contacts. I want it to just autofill for the contacts that I have in my address book. Is this possible? Thank you. I have an Imac Intel version and an Iphone 5 phone.

How do I either link two Address Book cards or have one card for two people

I have a husband and wife I need to put in my Address Book, Joe and Jane Smith.
If I create a card for Joe Smith, then list both their email addresses, whenever I want to send an email to Jane, the address comes up showing HIS name: Joe Smith <[email protected]>
If I put both their names in the First Name field on the card (Joe & Jane), every email I send to EITHER of them is addressed as "Joe & Jane Smith <his/[email protected]>"
If I give them separate cards, as near as I can tell, Apple hasn't bothered to create a way to link them.
So how do I make it so that Joe and Jane are tied together in my Address Book AND both still see their own names when I'm composing an email?

That's a helpful idea, but not by much. I'm still stuck either entering every single bit of info on both cards (addresses, phone numbers, kids names and birthdays, notes — pain in the neck!), or trying to remember which one has that info for every couple.
Apple's "just do it our way" attitude is really getting old when they fail to build common-sense functions into their most basic apps.

Can I link address book and numbers?

I want to add addresses in Numbers, and thought to myself that it would be very handy if I could just link them to my address book. Even more perfect; if/when an address changes, the entry in Numbers should change as well (automatically if possible, but manually is ok as well. Is this possible?
I tried to just click and drag an address into Numbers, but couldn't figure out how to choose which fields should or shouldn't be in Numbers. Let alone the linking...

Is there a link between the Calendar and the Address Book

I wanted to know if there is a way that if you are setting up an appointment in the Calendar that you are able to place a contact name from the address book and link that information with the scheduled appointment?

Not within the native RIM OS, no.
But I use an application called RexConnect which will perform that function--and many others, such as allowing an email to be inserted into a calendar event or task--or vice versa.

Contact photos are not showing up in Mail message list, even though the message will link to the contact card in Address Book with the photo in it.

Using the Photo/send a link/ function does not link to my address book

Having upgraded to FF4 using the Photo/your albums/send a link/ the 'To' data input line does not interact with my Hotmail Address Book.

This usually means that the address book data file is corrupt.
I'd suggest you export your misbehaving address book to an LDIF file, delete the original address book then re-import its data from the LDIF file.
Note that you won't be allowed to delete either ''Personal Address Book'' (PAB) nor ''Collected Addresses'' (CA) within Thunderbird. You'll have to close Thunderbird, open its profile and delete:
''abook.mab'' for PAB, or
''history.mab'' for CA.
When you next run Thunderbird, it'll create a new empty address book to replace the one you deleted. Import your address to a new temporary address book, then move the Contacts (drag-and-drop) into the preferred address book.

ISync does not properly retrieve address book data, links broken

My syncing attempts with my Motorola phone keep failing (no data is transmitted to the phone; the phone has no contacts currently). I think I can see the problem: iSync has different groups of contacts in its list than that exist in address book. What I mean is: in the dropdown menu in iSync where you can select what group of contacts to sync, it has the groups that I once had in address book, but which are now changed. I think this happened since I installed snowleopard. During my leopard days, I moved some apps to different folders; with the install of snowleopard, I think the links between the apps have not been reset well.
Do you know how to fix this?

The most likely solution is to launch iSync application ,and then in the preferences menu, click on Reset Sync History button. This resets configurations for the iTunes synchronization of calendars and address books.

Field links in Address Book do not work

"A left click in the field of Address Book opens a contextual menu" does not work. All the fields in my Address Book are light gray, and however I click do, not yield any menu. I know they did a while ago, but did not record with what update this feature became disabled. Any explanation and solution? Thank you!

I believe the document you are referring to is called "SAP Discovery Demonstration Access" which can be found at the bottom of the How To Set Up your Discovery System page and not the "Quick Guide", as the "Quick Guide" doesn't contain any links to demos/scenarios.

Hi Jo,
If I'm interpreting this correctly, the Word file downloads correctly, but when you open it in Pages, the link(s) which your instructor has embedded in the Word file are not correctly translated into Pages.
If the link shows the actual address, you should be able to copy that and paste it into the location bar in Safari, press return, and get to the website that way.
An alternate route might be to download one of the open source Office applications, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, or NeoOffice. These are written to more closely emulate the behaviours of MS Word than Pages, and may provide better support for links embedded in Word files.
