Do you have the Address Book icon?
If not, you might have hidden it (on the main screen, press menu and SHOW ALL).

  • Imported address book missing street address

Hello, I have imported my address book from Thunderbird on Windows XP. All went okay, except it is missing the street address (town and other address info is okay). Not sure if this is a Mac problem or the Thunderbird export problem.
    Any advise, please??
    Cheers, Simon

What format did you export from Thunderbird?
Can't really tell what is wrong without knowing what you exported and how you imported, and if you mapped the fields correctly (in the case of a csv file).

  • Address Book - Missing "On My Mac" account. Not able to add contact or import

    Hello world,
Should you not be able to add new contacts on the address book (because Menu File -> New Card will not do anything)
or import an address archive from another mac (because the app will just hang or just run forever),
then check the settings Preferences -> Accounts.
If you no not see the "On my Mac" - Local   entry (like in the screenshot below) then you are probably just missing a folder named
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/YahooSync.framework
It is about 4.8 MB, if you have a second mac, just copy it from there and restart Address Book.
Just wanted to share this (two days) experience with all of you, because the hints found on the web (like chaning file rights or ACLs removals) do not solve the issue : )
    Have fun,
    Arthur

If your contacts are in sim card that could explain it as sim card can not hold as many details as phone memory.

  • Address book missing - nothing inside

    Can somebody help me,
I just added some contacts and suddenly everything is restart and my address book is gone, all of them, I had more than 1000 addresses because of the family tree. I can't believe it. I look at the directory, but both .previous and .data is the same size, only around 16KB.
    Please help ....

I had some old data, and saving around 400 contacts, but they are not a complete data, for example: the postcodes were missing, and replaced by country information. The relationship information such as father, sister, spouse were also missing (I transferred them from ipod)
    Thx for the reply anyway.
I think this is a major bug, especially for sensitive data such as address book.
I know that I should have backed it up regularly, but hey, from usability and human factor's perspective I should blame the application instead of blaming myself about the backup.

  • Why is my address book missing iCloud contacts?

Today I decided to move my personal contacts to iCloud. I wanted to do it all nice and clean. These are the steps I took:
I exported my personal contacts from Outlook into a vcf file.
I logged into iCloud.com and imported the vcf file to get all my contacts on iCloud. It worked.
I deleted the old contacts I still had in Address Book "on my Mac" to start with a blank slate.
I added my iCloud account in Address Book.
In the end, the sync worked only partially. Less than half of the contacts that are on iCloud got downloaded to my Address Book (48 out of 112).
Ok, long breath. My spider sense told me it was just a bug. This is what I've done so far to try to fix my problem:
I have unchecked and rechecked "Contacts" under System Preferences > iCloud. When prompted, I chose to delete the contacts from my Mac.
I have deleted all the contents under User > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
I have restarted Sync Services in the Terminal with the command/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync.pl full
So far, no luck. It is always the same contacts that get transferred over. They have no special characteristics, fields or any significant differences. Pretty disappointing.

Update: So I fixed it, although very tediously and without really knowing what was wrong.
I realized that once I edited a missing contact on my iPhone, Address Book would fetch it correctly. So what I ended up doing was making a small edit twice (e.g. deleting a letter from the contact's name, saving, adding it back again, and saving again) on my iPhone for all of those missing contacts.
My contacts are now completely in sync and I can sleep peacefully at night.

  • Mail and Address Book Missing contacts after importing a VCard

Okay, I don't know precisely when this happened, but I guess it might have happened when I upgraded to Leopard. I rarely used Address Book, but I would add contacts of some of my friends to in every now and then from Mail. Right click on the address in Mail and select "Add to Address Book".
Immediately after upgrading to Leopard I had received a massive VCard from my coworkers, which I promptly added to my Address Book. Weeks later I'm digging around in Address Book and I see only about 10% of my old addresses. ***?!
Stranger, when I go back to Mail and go to Window>Previous Recipients, among the long list of emails there, it shows that the emails that I had long ago added to Address Book ARE indeed in Address Book.
    So, three questions:
    • Where did my old Address Book contacts go?
    • Why does Previous Recipients list my missing contacts as being in Address Book when Address Book itself doesn't show them?
    • How can I get the contacts that Previous Recipients sees to appear in Address Book again?

"The ones with the v-card icon are already supposed to be in addressbook, and so, the button goes gray."
Yah. But they don't appear in Address Book anymore.
Something I noticed, in Users>Home>Library>Application Support>Address Book there is "AddressBook.data" and "AddressBook.data.previous". Might the ".previous" version be where my old contacts are residing? Might there be a way to pry them out and merge them into the other file?
    Hmm.

  • Offline Address Book Missing Random Recipients

I'm coming from an upgrade of Exchange 2007 to 2010 in our organization. One major change I've made with our new Offline Address Book is that we no longer have Public Folder distribution enabled, just Web Distribution.
I'm having an issue where Outlook clients in "Cached Mode" are missing random recipients from their offline address book.  These aren't just new users, but appear to be random.  A client in non-cached mode does not have this problem,
and OWA users do not either.  I can delete the offline address book from AppData folder, connect in cached mode, and before the book downloads, I see the missing entries.  However as soon as I download the address book, they disappear.
This is causing problems because users cannot Send As one of the missing recipients because they are not in the address book.  Another user sees in Outlook that "delivery will fail to these recipients" because they are not in his address book.
I've tried creating a new address book, scanning with OABValidate, etc.  OABValidate did find 10 errors out of close to 5000 users, but none of them are users that are missing in the address book.  Not sure where else the problem might be, it was
OK in Exchange 2007. Only difference was "Public Folder Distribution" was enabled.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I just tried this, and I do see many entries for users have properties truncated or dropped because they exceeded the size limits.  These users do still appear in the OAB.  However I am still not seeing at least
one of the particular users that I am looking for in the logs.  I'm not sure why they would be getting skipped from the OAB but are fine in the address list itself.
EDIT:  Another note, on an affected client which is in Cached mode, I can change from Global Address list to *All Users address list, and the missing users are there.
I came across this article, which is for 2003, but seems to describe my situation exactly.  However I don't see the missing users show up in logs when enabling the debugging as specified.

  • Mailboxes and address book missing from restored program files

I re-installed TB 3.1.20, after having to re-install Windows Vista, with all other software and data. I then restored my TB files from a NTI Backup NOW file (when I back up files I include the program files for TB so I don't lose mailboxes and the address book). However when opening TB neither my mailboxes or address book are there. This system has worked in the past, so I trusted it would this time as well.
Any idea how to find and restore them?

Your mail and address book is stored in your Thunderbird profile. The profile is separate from the Thunderbird program installation.
Check this article to locate your profile folder.

If you do have a backup of your profile folder follow these instructions to restore it.

  • Address Book missing from Application Support

I need to locate the unique ID from Address Book in Application Support to use on my iPhone 3G to use iCloud, only Address Book is nowhere to be found in Application Support - anywhere.
Please can someone show me how to find it, in easy terms?

Open Finder, hold down the option key while selecting Go menu. Select Library. From that window, navigate to your AddressBook folder.
You were likely looking in the main Library, not your own Library.

  • Address book missing in New Message Window

Although I can append the Address Book icon to the toolbar in the main Mail window, this is not acessable from the New Message Window.  I have several email accounts and prefer to not use the auto-complete tool in Mail.  However, I'd rather not have to enter the email address manually.  In Snow Leopard, I could search the addressbook directly from the new message window.
How do I add address to the "To Field" from my address book once a new message is created besides drag and drop from Address Book app?

    Hi.
You can add the contact to Address Book once you have sent the message. Go to Sent, select the message, and when you see it on the preview pane, in the "To" field, click and hold on the address you want to add, and select "Add to Address Book" from the drop down menu.
    Good Luck.

  • "send/call" key shortcut to address book missing in 4.5?

i know this may sound nitpicky but in 4.3 i loved this feature where you just press and hold the green call/send button and go to address book. after updating to 4.5 it is not there.    now, i know i can assign the convenience keys, show shortcut on home screen, and such to go to it but ive got all that just how i like it. i know you can hit a letter and takes you to the corresponding letter in address book also. when they removed it did they make any other "1 press" access to FULL address book? forgive the nitpickiness....haha

Thanks to both j.v. and Barney for your suggestions. I used a combination of your two ideas to almost solve this problem. The two computers are both connected to the same wireless network. From the MBP, I logged onto the PB using its ID/password. This gave me access to all files on that machine from the MBP. Importing the backup file Barney suggested earlier did not work - the Group names came over, but not the address cards! In fact, I couldn't delete the Groups within the application. I had to go eliminate the files in Library/Applications/Address Books folder to eliminate them.
In the PB, I then made Vcards as suggested for each Group as suggested by j.v. Since I was logged onto the PB via the MBP, I could see all these files. I thought I was home free when I imported the first Group's address cards, created a new Group with the same name, and dragged all these cards into the Group. For the subsequent groups, I had hoped to use the Last Import list, creating new group names for each group that I imported. HOWEVER, for some reason, Last Import contains all the cards imported, not just the last group! Any ideas as to how to overcome this problem? Is there a single file that I can delete to clear out Last Import?
    Thanks again for any ideas.

  • Address Book missing from Running Applications

I run Address Book and "Open at Login".  I'm running MacOS X Lion 10.7.4 and Address Book 6.1.2 on a MacBook Pro.  I have just recently noticed that though the Dock shows the little blue indicator that Address Book is running and the Ctrl-TAB shows that Address Book is running, there is no way to bring up Address Book's Window.  This started about a week or so ago.
Activity Monitor window also does not show the Address Book in the processes list regardless of the filtering.
Is there a new bug in Address Book?

    Hello:
I do not know of any Address Book "bugs," old or new.
You might try trashing a couple of preference files and restarting:
    com.apple.addressbook.abd.plist
    com.apple.addressbook.plist
    com.apple.addressbooksourcesync.plist
If that does not help, try removing the application from your startup items, restart, and see if you can open the application.

  • Address book missing tel numbers

    hi,
when syncing my address book not all telephone numbers are uploaded to .mac.
it's about 50% only, even after repeated attempts.
    any ideas of what's up?

You should try asking in the .Mac Sync forum, as iSync is for syncing to mobile phones and PDAs.

  • Address book - missing filtr (automatic filling address)

    Hi,
I have been using mobile phone Q10 with sync Exchange server 2013. My address book (phone book) consists of (by sync) all of contacts in my mailbox. It means even plus automatic filling email address from Outlook, that are unwanted items in my phone book. What's a very annoying in operation. It has bad impact on performance for seeking anyone, several times during day the application (phone book) does not respond, next I am not able to seeking anyone.
    How Do I fix it?
Is there any option how to limited range of contacts for sync? iPhone has figured out this problem by filter. You can choose which category of contact you want to sync. Whats a very simple and useful. It has positive impact for use in car, where you dont waste with the capacity of internal storage. Your phone book does not consist of any unwanted items. I would really appreciate if the next version of OS 10 covered improvements.
    Many thanks
    Tomas

  • Address Book missing after reboot

I done a complete reboot sometime ago of my iMac with transferring all of my archived files back to the computer.
Some reason my Address Book didn't transferred. Not sure if I've lost it complete through the archive process or if I'm not able to transfer it properly.
Anyone experienced this before? Any advise will be helpful. I've got so many contacts that I don't want to lose.
    Cheers

Did you use the Archive and Install method with the option to preserve User and internet settings? Or did you do a Clean and Install which would lose all of your personal files.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.
