Address Book not syncing to Gmail
I have Snow Leopard and have enabled the Sync to Gmail feature in Address Book. However, my Address Book changes are not syncing to Gmail Contacts.
I'm Running Mac OS X Lion, and have seen that changes made in the mac address book do not sync to gmail contacts but changes to gmail contacts do sync to the mac address book.
Making a change to a contact on my phone does sync to gmail contacts, and then to the mac address book.
Another test I ran was to change the same contact in gmail and mac address book. I made a change to a mobile number and notes in one contact on my mac address book, attempted to sync, and the change does not appear in my gmail contacts. I tried multiple times, restarted my web browser, restarted mac address book, the sync would not work. I changed the same contact mobile number in gmail with a slightly different change to the notes field so I could see when an update occurred, and when I told mac address book to sync it recognized a conflict. When I select the mac address book change to resolve the conflict, the gmail contact is not updated. When I repeated the experiment and selected the gmail contact to resolve the conflict the change is made in the mac address book.

I had my address book syncing with Gmail but it no longer does. I make a change on my Mac and nothing happens in the cloud. I believe I have it configured properly (Synchronize with Google is selected in Preferences > Accounts and configured). Currently, the only account listed is 'On My Mac (Local)'.
o What might be the problem?

DavidFor me, a few days later is just started working so I assumed it was a temp glitch. I am however now having trouble with ical updating to google. Also, an ongoing issue I have is that google or apple duplicates my contacts. I go into google, delete dupes, and then a day or two later they are all back.
If anyone can help with apple to google sync, it would be greatly appreciated. When I say help, I mean get it working reliably and consistently. From everything I have read, I have everything set up right but clearly something is wrong. -

I have my desk top and I have an iphone. I seem to have 2 different contacts list, 1 from my mac and the other icloud. If i add adress on my iphone to contact it does not sync to "my mac"thank you very much that worked.first i thought if i restored then I would lose everything but of course I could re-sync so everything good now!!

I believe the duplicate address book accounts stems from the move from MobileMe to iCloud and both accounts still being active.
This is how I merged the two address books:
1) To make sure all the contacts are in both:
a) I selected On My Mac account - clicked on any address - Command A to select all - drag the contacts to the iCloud account - answered OK to merge and resolve duplicates.
b) same in reverse: select the iCloud account - click on an address - click Command A to select all - drag the contacts to the On My Mac account - answer OK to merge and resolve duplicates.
In system preferences I found an iCloud icon and also a MobileMe icon. I was logged in under both.
1) In the Address Book preferences I selected iCloud and unchecked Enable this account.
2) In the Address Book I selected iCloud and clicked on the minus “-” to remove that account – leaving only the local Mac address book.
3) I went into system preferences and logged out of MobileMe
4) In system preferences I opened iCloud and the “Contacts” was not selected (from above) and I selected it.
I got a dialog box asking if I wanted to merge the iCloud contact with the local contacts – clicked YES.
… spinning wheel for a minute … voila – only one address book account – iCloud with syncing to iCloud and my iPhone. -

Calendar sync is OK.

Normal Groups sync but smart groups do not.

Thanks.This same concept applies to syncing two macs via .Mac
The method I use for iPhone is this.
Define your smart group as needed.
Define a read group with a similar or convenient name.
From time to time drag your whole smart group to the real group.
The real group is the one that then syncs to your iPhone.
As a safety factor, I usually clear all entries from my real group before I drag over the updated smart group.
Anyway, this is simple and works well.

Custom image from Address book not syncing to Exchange.
I am running Mac OS X v 10.7.5. I have added custom images to contacts in address book. I have an Exchange account which will sync the data (ie name, address, email) but not the custom image. Is there away to have custom images sync to Exchange/Outlook?

Subscribed address book not synced to iPhone
I shared my address book with my wife, and she subscribes to it. Unfortunately, the shared contacts do not make it to her iPhone during a sync. Any Ideas why?
Also, what's the difference between subscribing to a mac address book and syncing using mobileme?
Thanks!I also have this issue. My contacts sync fine from the computer to Mobileme, but the groups don't sync to the iphone. This leaves me with an empty "Groups" window as described by eltons. If I sync through itunes, with Mobileme contacts sync off on the iphone, the groups show up.
Any ideas? Is this consistent with the original post? -
Address Books not syncing on one iPhone
I am running GroupWise Mobility Service 2.0.0, Build 429. I have 25 iPhone 5c's connected to it. All but one work perfectly. One iPhone syncs email and calendar but does not receive any of the users address books (there are two that should sync). I've reset the device to factory defaults from the Mobility Service admin console, from the device and from iTunes. I've deleted the user and added back. I've resync'd the user. I've noticed that on the Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen, the Default Account parameter appears for a short period of time then completely disappears. I've configured the user's iPad which has the same Apple account as the iPhone had orginally, and have the same results. Thinking there was something in the Apple account that was causing the issue, I had the user create a new Apple account for this phone and configured it after resetting the device. None of the above helped. Email and calendar sync perfectly. The address books have never sync'd with the device.

I am assuming they are both selected in the GMS webadmin for this user,
if not check there first.
Is there any address book name conflicts? I.e. Same name in GW as is on
the device?

Address Book not syncing with Exchange 2007
My address book on Snow Leopard has 4093 cards, but not all of them are showing up in my contacts folder in Outlook Web Access. My company uses Exchange 2007. This is strange as I originally populated my address book by syncing it with my cards on Outlook. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

so i thought this will be resolved after reinstalling 10.5.7 (i tried a lot of tweaks in the earlier installation to make this work) but it seems that even with a clean install it wouldnt work.
address book authenticates with google but no updates are being sent or recieved.

I have a similiar problem. My address booked has synced correctly with google contacts since 2 years
And suddenly it stopped syncing. Furthermore when I go to settings/acconts I still find
my "Local" account where i configured my google account, but now the right window is empty.
There is no button to edit or show this account !!
(I mentioned this after update to 10.6.8, but I'm not sure if it worked shortly before doing the update)
What could be wrong ?

Running Lion on a macbook and iOS 5 on an iPhone 3Gs . All software up to date.
Problem I am having is, in the address book there is "All on My Mac" and "All iCloud" and they don't have all the entries in both of them. Aren't they suppossed to be the same ? and how do I merge them ?
I have run test like adding an entry on the phone and it does updtate the laptop and viceversa ...
Just in case.. I didn't have a Mobile Me acc. set up.
Thank you.What I discovered quite by accident is that you cannot sync your Mac contacts with iCloud if you are also syncing with Gmail and/or Yahoo. I discovered this after trying turning off iCloud, then turning it back on. When I turned it back on, I got a message saying exactly what I indicated above. Note that no such message pops up if iCloud is ON and you THEN enable Google and/or Yahoo contact syncing. The message only came up because I had G and Y syncing turned on THEN activated iCloud syncing.
In any case, I now have one set of contacts on my computer, labeled as "iCloud" but I've confirmed that they are stored locally. More importantly, my contacts are now consistent across all devices as they should be. I am a little bummed that they won't be synced across all services, but I can live with that. -
Macbook Air with Mac OS X Address book not syncing with iPhone 5s completely
I have just started ICloud syncing of my macbook air address book and my iphone. Some seemingly random contacts are not being transferred down to the iphone. I can't figure this out. How do you make this work correctly?
First of all, your post title refers to an iPhone 5S. There is no such device being sold by Apple.
Aside from that, it sounds like your contacts are in more than one account on your Mac. In Contacts on your Mac, you might try clicking the button closest to the plus side in the lower left of the display to hopefully show your various accounts. You might also check Contacts > Preferences > Accounts. -
Address Book not syncing via mobile.me account since upgrade
I don't know if it is upgrade related but now my address book on my iPhone doesn't over the air sync with my iMac. I have a mobile me account and I have checked on both the iMac and the iphone 4. Maybe it's a problem with iTunes 10.1? Anyone else having the problem? I added some addresses on the iMac and they are there but won't transfer or show up on the iPhone.

So i've read some other posts saying to make a backup, and then remove it via sys preference, uncheck contacts, delete them, and then re-check the box, that hasnt worked
here is my current setup that I use everyday
iMac 1 - Home
iMac 2 - Office
iPhone
My phone and iMac 1 have the same sync, I created 2 more "categories" on iMac2 and added a bunch of contacts to that group (all 3 devices are using the same username / password) - however, iMac1 and iphone do not get these new contacts / groups, no matter what
any suggestions?FYI, iCloud DOES NOT SYNC, you subscribe to it and that makes it very different from sync systems (including Mobile Me)
I just moved, yesterday, from MobileMe to iCloud. I have an iMac, a MacBook Air, an iPhone 4, and the original iPad.
Would you be kind enough to elaborate on your statement that I have quoted, above? I fear I don't understand the difference between sycning to MobileMe and subscribing to iCloud.
I am about to make my first change to my Address book and am unsure where to make it: on iCloud, my iMac, my MacBook, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
