Address Book on Windows?

I had no trouble with my Mac at home, I entered contacts into the iPod, synced and was able to access the program Address Books through the Applications folder on my iMac G4. The contacts were right there.
Now I'm at work, using Windows 2007, and I've synced, but now do not know where to go to access my contacts. Is there someplace here? They did not show up in Outlook Contacts.

Never mind! e

  • When I launch address book, multiple windows open

When I launch address book, multiple windows open, and I can't find a way to close them unless I do it one at a time.  I must have chosen at some point "open all contacts" or something like that, but am at a loss as to how to prevent this in the future. I've tried command +option+w, to no avail.  Ideas?  thanks!

    Untick this box:
Or use alt/option + Cmd + Q to Quit and DIscard Windows.

  • WISH TO TRANSFER FILES AND ADDRESS BOOK FROM WINDOWS 98PC TO NEW IMAC.

HOW TO TRANSFER FILES AND ADDRESS BOOK FROM WINDOWS PC 98 TO IMAC .

For addresses, general answer is to use Export function in your PC program and export in .csv (comma separated value) format. Then open Address Book app on new iMac and choose Import from File menu and locate the file you exported (on USB stick, or by email, for example). Should work! You've heard that before, right?
This page includes how to transfer files, among other questions that might arise. http://www.apple.com/why-mac/faq/

  • Address Book's window moves down 3 pixels every time you start the app.

I want to confirm that this is not an isolated issue and to make a bit more noise because Apple didn't fix this in the 10.5.3 update. The problem is that the Address Book's window moves down 3 pixels from it's previous position every time you start the app. This only happens if the Address Book window is sized vertically larger than minimum. Now, each time you quit and start Address book it will reposition it's window 3 pixels down. After some time and many Quit/Starts your window will end up at the bottom of your screen and even size itself down to vertical minimum. If you have it positioned so that the bottom of the window protrudes off the screen then it will continue until it reaches the top bar of the window. It's not a serious bug I know. But, for the way I use Address Book it's annoying to have to reposition it's window to align with my other apps which I have open aligned/arranged at startup. It's just that all the other Leopard apps don't do this. Maybe it's a feature added to avoid patent infringement. Who knows! Apple I know you have bigger fish to fry but would you please clean this up.
To test first start Address Book and size your Address Book window vertically larger than its smallest size. Now repeatedly quit and start the Address Book application. Watch your Address Book window migrate down 3 pixels from it's previous position every time you start. Have fun, watching Address Book falls from grace. Good thing it doesn't migrate off screen completely!

    Hey! It works! Nice catch
Gee, now if the rest of Leopard would work properly they would even have the time to fix this

  • Address Book and Window Size Defaults

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, whenever I open Address Book, the window size is teeny tiny and the columns are so itsy bisty narrow as to be entirely useless (like, I get the first 5 letters of each name in the name column, now which Johns... am I seeking?). I have to resize the window and then adjust the column widths every time I open the app.
This is highly annoying. Any ideas about how to fix it?

Have you tried Repairing Permission (using Disk Utility) since upgrading? If not, try that first.
If so, it sounds like your Address Book preferences file might be messed up. You might want to try removing the Address Book preferences file (com.apple.AddressBook.plist) from the /Users/<your user name>/Library/Preferences folder. Don't trash it at first in case you need to put it back.
    Close Address Book.
Move the preference file to the Desktop.
    Re-launch Address Book.
If the problem is fixed, you can eventually trash the old preference file (a new one will have been created up launch of Address Book).
Keep in mind that any other preferences you may have set up for this application will be lost when you trash the old prefs file, but it may be a worthwhile sacrifice to get it back into working order.
    Hope this helps,
    Lance

  • I'm sure there is an easy answer out there somewhere - How do I import an address book from Windows Live to my Mac?

I'm sure there is an easy answer out there somewhere - Can anybody tell me how do I import an address book from Windows Live to my Mac?
    Thanks

Explains how to make a vCard from Windows Live.  Apple's Addressbook supports this format.

  • In Address book print window opened too large for window.  Unable to close

Using Address book,   trying to print lables for a group, print window opened to large for window.... cannot cancel or close out.

In general, in any window presented which calls for user action, if a button is highlighted (usually in blue if the OS is in charge) then pressing Return or Enter will do the same as clicking that button.
Most of the time the highlighted button is the one which is most usable - the "Print" button in that dialog window, for example, or the "Save" button in a Save dialog window.
The keystroke Command-. (Command-periodkey) will usually invoke a "Cancel" button if such is present in a window.

  • Mac Address Book on Windows XP

I have 2 mac at home and a work computer (Dell running XP).
On my personal mac computers, my address book is full of 850+ contacts (business, friend, family, etc) and I would like to know if there is a way for me to access them from my work computer (running XP).
I don't want mobile me (too $$$) but I was looking forward to having mac address book software compatible with Windows. Is it possible?
    Thanks
    Matt

You can export all of your address book in a vCard file, which can be imported by most email applications. That isn't a constantly updated solution, but it will get you most of the information copied most easily.

  • How can I copy the Thunderbird Address Book from Windows to Ubuntu?

I use Windows 8.1 on one Pc and Ubuntu 14.04 on the other.
Thanks in advance for your help
    Best regards,
    Ep

I think the best way is to export the required address books to LDIF files on the first machine and import those LDIF files on the second machine.
Alternatively you can copy the the data *.mab files from one machine to the other. The two default address books are represented by abook.mab and history.mab and can be simply copied. Other user-defined address books will be named as abook1.mab etc and will need to be imported. I'd suggest MoreColumnsForAddressBook for this task.

  • Address Book - Open Window Shortcut?

If I have Address Book open and close the main window (command-w), there does not seem to be a Keystroke that will re-open that main window. Instead, I have to go to the WINDOW menu and mouse-select "Address Book". This is a pain when I want to quickly find a contact.
I have tried to add a shortcut using the Keyboard preferences panel, but that does not seem to work either.
For an every-day utility, this seems to be awkward for a common action. Am I missing something? Appreciate any responses. Thx.

    Hi,
It's a bit more key work than you probably wanted, but you can press control+F2 to activate the menu bar and then use the arrow keys to navigate to the Window menu.

  • Synching Apple Address Book to Windows Outlook

My secretary, bless her heart, is still using Windows. When we want to update her Outlook address book so it matches my Apple Addres Book, we use Address Book Exporter and then have to map custom fields so everything transfers over to her properly.
We don't have a Microsoft Exchange server, but I'm wondering if MobileMe now offers us an easy way for me to transfer the contacts in my Apple Address Book to her Outlook.
    Yes? If so, how?

Did you ever get an answer to this question as I am interested in the response...thank you

  • Importing bb address book to Windows Live Mail

I've just got a new blackberry curve 8900. It runs v4.6.1.310.
I can't seem to import my BB address book into my Windows Live Mail.
Some assistance would be greatly appreciated

    Hello,
Not knowing how you are making the attempt, it's difficult to comment on why it's not working for you. Therefore, I can only offer what I believe should be the proper process.
KB11194 How to import contacts from an CSV file to the BlackBerry device
That KB discusses the use of the Import/Export tool. You should be able to use it to export your contacts from your BB to an Ascii or CSV file. From that point on, it will be a matter of what Windows Live can do to import the information.
Unless...were you looking for synchronization? That might be something completely different.

Depending on the version of Outlock...
Use Thunderbird on the PC as an intermediary step.
    Import contacts to T-Bird.
Export addresses from t-bird to LDIF file
Get that file to your mac, and use the import function of AddressBook.
