ADDRESS BOOK & PAGES

I want to use my address book list of contacts for making a Merge address book cards in a Pages document.
It does do the merge, but they do not appear in Alphabetical Order. When using Address Book on its own they do so. The printer is set to print in that mode.
Any ideas please.

Hi:
I'm familiar with this feature. The pocket address book pages are intended to be printed on standard size paper, and then the printout will have tiny guide-lines at the page corners where you should cut with scissors. When all the pages are cut, they can be arranged in alphabetical order and will provide a staggered thumb-flip along one side. The pages should be stapled together on the right side. Feel free to reply if you have more questions.

  • In Outlook the 'people' (address book) page does not work at all in Firefox.

Hi, I have checked and it works fine using Explorer. I've checked that cookies are enabled.
When I click the people icon the address bar shows:- https://outlook.live.com/owa/#path=/people
However the page remains completely blank, there is no 'wheel' to suggest that it is searching.
    Any suggestions please?

First you have to determine exactly what is the problem.   The best way to do that is a visit to an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be FREE and then you will be in a position to make an informed decision,

  • What is the best way to make a list of addresses for envelopes or labels?  Address book, numbers or pages?

What is the best way to make a list of addresses for envelopes and labels?  Address book, Pages or Numbers?

I liek your idea of having multiple images in a grid. I think
that would be the best bet as you mentioned. Having one big picture
would be hard to distinguish the sub-areas with mouse coordinates.
I think checking the coordinates for the mouse would be very
tedious because I would have to check for the left boundary, the
right, top, and bottom for each sub-area!
What do you mean by using button components and reskinning.
Is this simply using buttons and changing the way they look? I'm
just trying to save time and memory, because if I had a 10 by 10
grid, thats a hundred buttons. Wouldn't that slow down the machine
alot? And for that matter wouldn't having a grid of 10 by 10 images
    also by the same deal?
Thanks for the input, I'm just trying to find the most
    efficient way to do it.

  • Can't edit Vcards in Address Book

In Address Book, the "edit card" in Edit drop-down menu is grayed out (as is the "delete").  In addition, on the bottom of an individual Address Book page, the "EDIT" option no longer appears.  Each Adress Book page shows only the Add and Share options at the bottom.

    Hi Tony ...
Might be corrupted preferences. (It's a Mac thing)
Quit the Address Book app if it's open. Command + Q on your keyboard or from the Address Book menu bar click Address Book > Quit.
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.AddressBook.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Launch Address Book. If you can edit your contacts now, move the .plist file to the Trash. If not, just move it back to the Preferences folder.
If that didn't work, go to ~/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook/Cahce.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Address Book. See if you can edit your contacts now.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion v10.7x:  To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
You can open a Finder window by clicking the Finder icon in your Dock (first icon on the left side of the Dock)

  • XFinity address book

Site says you can import an outlook address book into Xfinity address book but appears to be one way street the other direction.  Any ideas?

I had the same problem.  That is, I was unable to import my contacts from a properly constructed (per the sample_template.csv) file into my Comcast address book (as of 5/28/2015).  I suspect that the Comcast import app is broken.  However, I found a work-around.1. Go to www.plaxo.com and sign in with your Comcast email and password. This should give you a courtesy account (I understand Plaxo is owned by Comcast), although it may take a few tens of seconds for the account to be established, and you might have to refresh and/or log back into Plaxo to get to your account page.2. Once you are logged into your Plaxo account, go to your Plaxo Address Book, which you should be able to access via the rtibbon at the top of your Plaxo home page.3. From your Plaxo address book page, click the gear icon at the top of the "new contacts" list and select "import" from the popup menu. That should take you to a page labeled "Import Contacts into your Address Book."4. From the "Import Contacts ..." page, select the "Import" button, which should give you list of import options, including one that permits you to import contacts from a csv file.5. Select the CSV import option and follow the instructions to upload your contact.csv file into Plaxo.Once your contacts are uploaded into Plaxo, you should find that they also appear in your Comcast address book for the Comcast account credentials that you used for your Plaxo login.

  • Auto-generated birthdays [Address Book - iCal] issues with Mac OS X 10.4.4

Substantial changes were made to iCal, the Address Book and to Sync Services with the release of the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update. Clearly, not all of the results were intended.
The automatically generated Birthdays calendar has presented at least two issues in my configuration:
Just before installing the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update, the birthdays appeared in iCal as expected but, immediately afterward, none appeared at all. They were still embedded in my Address Book records, and the action of cutting and pasting just one of them in an Address Book record resulted in the immediate propogation of all of them again in iCal. Great. Obviously, there is now a system-level problem with the data interchange between the Address Book and iCal. This phenomena has only surfaced since the application of the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update.
This evening, I noticed that birthdays were no longer displayed in iCal following a synchronization, though the calendar remained intact . Stranger yet, they had all been removed from the matching Address Book records which generate these entries: every one of them! I believe that a Sync Services issue caused their removal, and it is for that reason alone that they no longer appeared in iCal.
Resetting the contact records alone using .Mac as the source did no good. Not only are they not visible on the .Mac address book pages, birthdays data is also apparently not retrievable. Hmm - passed through, but not stored. Not good.
I was able to revert to a 3-day old, almost identical record set, and all of the 'restored' records with birthdays instantly had a matching iCal entry in the Birthdays calendar.
All I can say is: back up. And, back up often. [I had used the Back up Address Book… option under the File menu, so restoring them was a rapid and painless process.]
I wonder when we will see a maintenance update to Sync Services, the Address Book and iCal?

My wife's mini had a similar issue. She upgraded to 10.4.10 and her sound stopped working. She would also get the login screen freezes. Where her computer is located, turning off Airport is not an option, and the sound issue is very frustrating. I helped her restore her entire computer from a 10.4.9 backup she had made just a couple days before, and while the lockup problems are gone, the headphone jack still will not output sound. Just two pops when you plug the speakers in, and that's it. I've tried resetting the PMU with no luck. I hope Apple fixes whatever it is they screwed up, and soon. I won't be applying 10.4.10 to any of my other machines.

  • Thunderbird builds summary everytime and unable to load address book abook.mab?

    Hello,
I'm using TB from years but now first time I'm facing this problem with TB. When I open TB it starts building summary file for few folders and during startup I also get address book message: Unable to load address book file abook.mab locked by another application etc.
Yesterday I have deleted all MSF files in every folder of my default profile folder and it worked yesterday but today again this problem occurs. I can't see any address book loaded in address book page, white blank page.
Any body who can help me with this? Thanks

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • Address book "other" on .mac

after long time, my newly .mac account (opened to be able to sync two computers with the same info) decided to show my address book contact.
only, it does not show any fields apart from the standard ones. in particular, any phone number in the "other" field is nowhere to be found.
    any way to configure it?
    any help?
should i get rid of .mac and look for other solutions...?

There is no provision to display information in data fields labeled 'other'—or with custom labels—in your Address Book, on the address book pages of .Mac itself. This information is synchronized through .Mac to other copies of the Address Book on Macintosh desktop and portable computers, but not displayed.
This is a server-side design issue, and the only workaround is to use the labels 'home' and 'work' in the Address Book.

  • Address Book-Bluetooth-Dial Cell Phone or Send SNS

I have repeatedly paired my Cell Phone to my Powerbook according to the available procedures. When I select a phone number in Address Book both "Dial on Cell Phone" and "Send SMS" are grey. The bluetooth symbol at the top of the Address Book page never turns blue as described after successful pairing of my cell phone to my computer. I would like to use my Address Book with my cell phone (Motorola V557). Please tell me how!

Yes and no. At least in my opinion.
Before iPhone Apple worked with mobile hardware makers to integrate features like you describe into Address Book to make it easier to manage calls and Address Book contacts.
Now, on the iPhone those same contacts are all on the iPhone. I can see how someone at Apple might come to the conclusion that the "dial with phone" feature would not be implemented. I did use the feature all the time with my Sony Ericsson W810i, but I don't miss it at all with my iPhone.

  • When printing a list in Address Book, how can I select more than the default Attributes and keep them selected when I print again? I want to print ALL information for contacts so I have email address, notes, phone, company, title, etc all on one page.

When printing a list in Address Book, how can I select more than the default Attributes and keep them selected when I print again? I want to print ALL information for contacts so I have email address, notes, phone, company, title, etc all on one page. I don't want to have to check off an additional 5 or 6 attributes each time I print out contact information. Is there a way to change the default setting for printing lists, so it is not just "phone," "photo," and "job title?"

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

  • Can I combine e-mail page and address book?

I'm sure I will eventually be convinced that Mac is easier to use than a PC. With my PC my e-mail was Microsoft Outlook. My address book was listed on the lefthand column of the page along with "inbox', "sent" etc. All I had to do was click on it to bring it up and then click on the appropriate address which was automatically filled in on my outgoing e-mail page. Now, I have to open 'mail' and also 'address book' separately. Then nothing happens when I click on an address so I have to start typing it in and only then will it automatically finish filling in. Is there an easier way on Mac or is there a way I can get Outlook as my mail account on my iMac. I know most of you are young and were born holding a computer in your lap but I came to them later in life and, although very knowledgeable about many things, computers are way down on the list so I am very grateful for your help and patience with a grandmother.

As long as you have the contact's email address in your address book, all you have to do is start typing the person's name in the "to" box, and it will finish it for you. If you have more than one person named "Steve" for example, if you start typing the name, and you know you have more than one person of the same name, wait a second or two, and a box will open with all of the people of that same name, You can then scroll down using the arrow key and select the person you want.
Or if you know the first couple of letters of that person's address, you can type those in, and the person's email address will finish. That's a little bit easier if you have multiple names.
    Hope this helps...

  • Want to use address book like Pages on Numbers

I am a PC person turned Mac about a year ago. I will NEVER go back!.
Here is the issue, I love the way I can type one letter in Pages and highlight and drag my contacts from the address book to the application and it will automatically populate a new letter for each contact.
Now, I have build a form that I have to hand fill every single day. What I need to do is as such, Row 15 Column D = last name, Row 15 Column F = first name, Row 15 Column H = SS number, Row 18 Column D = town, Row 18 Column F = state.
If possible, I would like to highlight all 55 people, Drag, Drop and have 55 doc populate. (i can do one at a time and print to .pdf instead).
I searched and I am so new to this, I really don't know the terms I am looking for. I also used the help tab on the program and found some "address" formulas which didn't seem to work.
please dummy the answer down for me.
Sry about the edits, posting a photo.

maybe i am not too clear.
The merge would be the ideal, but I tried to do that today, and WOW, what a MESS! The table fits in Numbers but extends for 3 pages in Pages. I have shrink to fit option on.
I think using numbers may be the best.
I do not want ALL the address information in the form, I also don't want a visible header on it either.
At the end of the day, the jpeg file I attached where the person's name, ss number, town, state, miles is the only information I want to input.
I may have to go to a mac store so they can walk me though this. lol

  • Printing address book on day-timer portable page

Anyone have any suggestions for the page layout to print address book to Day-Timer Portable page format? They don't give any options (like Avery 5160, etc). My wife still likes her addresses printed out for her Day-Timer book. The old app that she previously used on her old Mac no longer works on the new OS on her MacAir.

I used to have the Palm Desktop application on my old Mac and that what we used to printout the Day-Timer Portable page format. Of course the Palm Desktop app no longer works on the new Mac OS. I guess if I could get the page layout for that app, I could duplicate the layout.

  • In Address Book, how to stop notes insert point jumping to the top? of the page

Completely maddening thing that address book - and no other app I have ever encountered does, as you are typing information into the notes field of a contact, it will suddenly jump the cursor up to the start of the page, often leaving one word half finished and adding onto the front of some other bit of information is a totally crazy way.
I use three Macs, all of them do it. Has anyone else encountered this?
It seems to be since the ghastly faux leather Lion address book has been introduced, ( I assume Mr Jobs had nothing to do with that )
Any ideas on how to prevent it happening?  Im not a touch typist, so I have to keep looking at the kbd, then I wont realise until half way through a sentence it has decided to split it in half and put some of it at the top of the page.  Crazy.
    Thanks
    Stephen

  • In Address Book how can I stop the cursor from wandering while editing a page?

At times when I am editing a page in Address Book, the cursor wanders, so the text I am typing shows up in the wrong place. Often it deletes exist text. Why does this happen? How can I prevent it?

Does this only happen in the Address Book or does it do this all the time and causes only issues in the Address Book?
