Address Book Sync iCloud

I have an Exchange subscribed address book and On My Mac in Address Book - so 2 address books - when I choose to enable iCloud - does it only sync my On My Mac address book or does it also drag my Exchange subscribed address book to the cloud?
I really would like to get rid of the Exchange address book - it's over 1200 contacts - but I cannot find the best way to import it into Address Book that does not screw up all of the data.

Save your Outlook address book to a comma-separated plain text spread sheet, and OS X's Address Book application (which Mail uses for contacts management) can import them with nary a hiccup.

  • Address Book Sync running slow parallels and mac (iCloud)

Briefly, every time that "address book sync" becomes active on the Mac side, the computer on both the Mac and the Windows side becomes incredibly slow, almost usable. If I disable the "address book sync" through the activity monitor (force quit), the computer on both the Mac and Windows side restores to normal speed. I have 4 CPU's on this MAc book pro and i have configured parallels to 2 for the Mac side and 2 for the Windows side. I have also allocated 2GB of memory to the Windows 7 side which is within the recommended range of 512MB to 4GB (Maximum memory is 16BG).
I have also noticed in "activity monitor" that the process name "prl_vm_app" can run as high as 200% of cpu usage and vary anywhere from its current level whilst writing this email of 5% upwards. This does not however seem to affect the speed of the computer and again this is being caused by "address book sync". For information I am running Outlook on the windows side and using "contacts" and this is also being replicated on the mac side in "contacts". Whenever I update or enter a new contact in the windows side (Contacts in outlook) then address book sync starts shortly after on the Mac side and the computer slows considerably.
I have iCloud working on the mac side and windows side syncing my contacts calendar etc.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have the same problem too. My iphone is not syncing with my addressbook on the mac, no matter what I try, it is very very frustrating!!

  • Why won't my computer's address book sync ALL of my contacts with my iPhone?  no MobileMe, no iCloud, just straight from computer to phone.

Why won't my computer's address book sync ALL of my contacts with my iPhone?  No MobileMe, no iCloud, just straight from computer to phone.  I have checked all the settings and all seems correct.  It simply won't pull in all of the contacts.  Last time, it added some new ones, but deleted others.

I found the route of the problem! All the songs under 'On This Phone' are completely grayed out! The only question is now how do I ungray them???

  • Syncing Mac Address Book with iCloud

Hello, I am trying to sync my Mac Address Book with iCloud. All contacts that are created under iCloud on Mac Addess Book are immediately synced. But if I create a contact on the Mac book exclusively, that contact will not get synced with iCloud.
Does it mean that if we want to sync Mac address book contacts with iCloud, they should always be created under the iCloud category on the Mac? Can someone help me with this. I have checked all sync options are switched "on" and sync is working fine across all other apps.
    Thanks,
    Farhan

I believe the duplicate address books stems from the move from MobileMe to iCloud.
In system preferences I found an iCloud icon and also a MobileMe icon. I was logged in under both.
    1)  In the Address Book preferences I selected iCloud and unchecked Enable this account.
    2)  In the Address Book I selected iCloud and clicked on the minus “-” to remove that account – leaving only the local Mac address book.
    3)  I went into system preferences and logged out of MobileMe
    4)  In system preferences I opened iCloud and the “Contacts” was not selected (from above) and I selected it.
I got a dialog box asking if I wanted to merge the iCloud contact with the local contacts – clicked YES.
… spinning wheel for a minute … voila – only one address book account – iCloud with syncing to iCloud and my iPhone.

  • Upload address book to iCloud

I have Lion running on a macbook with an iCloud account and a archived address book.  I have installed Lion from scratch and set everything up.  I set iCloud in system preferences and create an iCloud account in address book.  At this time the address book has the default card based on the account information.  I inport the address book archive which when imported replaces everything, wipes out the icloud address book account and leaves the address book with a single on my mac account.  I do not see where I can direct the import to the created icloud address book account.  If I go ahead and syn with iCloud by clicking the address book in the iCloud system preferences it goes ahead and asks me to merge the accounts.  When done, I have only the single card left and all of the imported address book contacts are gone.  How can I upload an imported address book to iCloud???

First, make sure you are running Lion on your iMac
If so, go to System Preferences --> iCloud --> check off the contacts tab.
Your calendar will now sync to iCloud.

  • Address Book sync - Google

Is anyone else not able to get their google contact to sync?
I have GmAil set up as my mail and iCal no issue. I go to contact > Pref >select local mac > and enable google sync. I then hit the sync on the menu board and nothing. The address book reamins empty.
I have iCloud contacts off and iCal as I saw somewhere that was and issue. Any suggestions?

    Hi Randy,
Is your system completely up to date? Google address book syncing was introduced with the 10.5.3 update of OS X. If you go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac," you can see what your computer is at. To make everything current, run "Software Update" in the Apple menu.

Unfortunately not. No groups and any Mobile Me account here not even many contacts (436) and any duplicates except in Ical after having restored my iphone 4 times. Something strange too, 2 weeks ago, Isync was running while I'm not registered on MM nor Icloud (turned off on my iphone) . Maybe a conflict between Outlook, Addressbook, Itunes and Isync on SL....I'm going crasy with this issue It reminds me of Windows ! Thx anyway, I'm gooing to contact apple in the following days.

  • Why has apple taken ical and address book sync away on mavericks

why has Apple taken the ical and address book sync option away from itunes iphone info tab on the new OS Mavericks ???? Absolutley insane !!!!

Independent of iCloud, here are a couple more options:
    1)  You could sync with Google
    2)  You could set up OS X Server ($19.99 download on the Mac App Store) and set up a CalDAV server and a CardDAV server on your local network, and use that to sync.  A few articles have been written on that, Google for some of those terms and you should find a walkthrough.
What you CANNOT do is a tethered sync via iTunes.  Given it was removed, I highly doubt it's coming back.

  • Multi-User Address Book Sync

I have 2 user accounts on the same mac, and I want them to share the same address book via iCloud. Each Mac user account is logged into the same iCloud account. Each user's Address Book is linked (in prefs-accounts) to the same iCould account. Each user has the iCloud source selected (on the Groups page) and each user sees the same Address Book info on the iCloud web site. But... when each user opens the Address Book app from within their respective user account, the data is not synced, and changes made by one user are not synced to the other user - even though I THOUGHT they were accessing the same iCloud file. I am confused and stumped.

Unfortunately not. No groups and any Mobile Me account here not even many contacts (436) and any duplicates except in Ical after having restored my iphone 4 times. • Data in my iMac address book and iCloud contacts do not match.

The data in my iMac address book and iCloud contacts are different. How can I get my iCloud data to accruately reflect that of my iMac address book? It appears to be an initial synchronization issue. New entries synchronize fine. Appears that initial entries in my Address Book are not showing up in the iCloud Contacts list. Hense, My iPhone coantacts don't match those in my iMac.
Is there a way to clean out my iCloud contacts on reload/re-sychronize it with my iMac Address Book?

Nuts isn't it. This seems to have been an issue snce dAY 1.  iT FROSTS ME THAT THERE IS NO SIMPLE QUICK WAY TO UPDATE OR CORRECT the data in both programs simultaneously.. Thats why i decided to just put everytning into the i cloud address brook, and let the one other sit and rot.
then i got smart and said, why don't I delete the outlookaddress book files. and save on confusion.
result - both addresses books  and their contents became invisible to outlook.!!!!!! and I can find no way to correct this...to go back to the imperfect world that was.
I did get the outlook contact s back from an archive - but any thing from icloud has become inaccessible from outlook.  (fortunately i can get the vcard infformation directly from icloud. but I can't access it from outlook mail.... means no replying, forwarding etc - and a time swallowing nuisance..

  • Sharing contacts in Address Book through iCloud

I work in an office where the contacts in our Address Book App. need to be shared with multiple users over multiple computers/devices. We currently have all of our contacts in the Address Book App. but whenever a new contact is added we need to physically transfer it to each machine. Ultimately, we need to accomplish 3 tasks:
    1. We need to be able to create, edit, and share contacts on and between multiple computers/devices/accounts. Access is needed by all employees, including our boss.
    2. Some of our contacts need to be kept private, (not shared across all machines) associated with a single account. These are our bosses private contacts that are included in the mass of our current Address Book App.
    3. Do all of this in iCloud
Is it possible to share groups in Address Book over iCloud while keeping other groups private from sharing. Of course, these private entries would still need to be accessible through iCloud by our boss. I've read threads explaining that setting up a "Family Account" alongside individual accounts allows one to share contacts through the "Family Account" while keeping contacts in the individual accounts private. It seems though that this solution has its issues.
If there is an efficient and effective way of doing this, please share!
    Thank you in advance!

If iCloud can figure this out Google is toast. Hope someone from Apple monitors these discussions.

  • Address Book Sync Problems - 8530 and Outlook 2007

This has been a nagging problem for me for quite some time.  Here's my current status:
    Curve 8530 on Verizon Wireless
Access to Corporate resources and email via BES
I also access Gmail from the device
Right now I am not synching over the air - that has never worked.  I'm using Desktop Manager, and recently downgraded to Version 5.01.  When I connect the device and configure for Address Book sync the application starts the process, then craps out without synching.  I've rebooted the PC, reloaded the application without success.
And right now the device's address book is blank.  Any ideas?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Given that you are on BES, why in the world are you putting up with it's non-functionality? With BES, you should be receiving Over the Air (OTA) sync of email, contacts, calendar, tasks, etc...no need whatsoever to synchronize to Outlook via USB tether. If that is not working, then you should do one of two things:
    1) Talk to your BES admins and have them get it working properly for you...you are missing a lot!!!
    -- OR --
    2) Talk to your carrier about changing your data plan and dropping BES -- you are paying extra for a service that you cannot even use!!
Once you decide which path you wish to pursue, let us know.
    Good luck!

  • Address Book Sync is gunking up my MacBook Pro!

Everytime I first start up my MacBook from either sleep or first turning it on, it's ridiculously slow - everything I type takes about 30 seconds to show up on the screen while the little rainbow pinwheel does its thing. I took a look at the Activity Monitor, and it looks like the Address Book Sync that happens every time the system first starts up is crashing everything else - as soon as I Force Quit the application, it's smooth sailing. I'm wondering if there's a way to make it so the Address Book syncs only when I ask it to, so I don't have to wait 10 minutes to use my computer after first turning it on? Has anyone else had this problem?

Put one unique entry in both iCal & Address Book on your Mac. These entries can be fake, that doesn't matter, just make sure Address Book & iCal are not empty. Then when you select to sync contacts & calendars on the Info pane in iTunes, you'll get a merge or replace prompt. Select merge.

  • Address Book sync with .Mac

I've done my Address Book sync with my .Mac in System Preferences. But the new addresses/changes don't show up when I go to email or look up the names from a web client.
    Am I missing somethings?

    Got it.

  • Address Book Sync Program

    Hi
I am new to the Blackberry. I have a Blackberry 8310 Smartphone.
    Here are a few questions:
Is there a reliable Address Book Sync Program?  It would be great instead of hand typing it all.
Also Not related to the address book, but How do you get the smiley's and etc for when you text someone?
    Thank you,

You can use Outlook for your contacts and then use Desktop Manager to sync between the BB and Outlook.  Thats the best method.
You can get smileys for BBMessenger only.
